ALINA DRAGANOV sat alone in her room in the avengers compound waiting for Steve to come back for her. She had gotten separated amongst the chaos at the airport so she did what he told her to do. She went home, packed her things, and was prepared to run with him forever if needed. There was never a world where Alina would sign her name away, not after everything she had suffered to take control over her own life.ย

From the moment Alina met Steve she knew he would always keep her safe, and there was a shortage of people in the world who made her feel that way. In fact, it came down to just the avengers when Alina thought about it, the ones who saved her countless times. The young brunette had packed everything she needed into one bag that waited by the door for him to come. A nervousness jittered through Alina who was using her powers to twirl the matter around her hands. She had shaped the same blue aura that always appeared when she used her abilities into matter almost like water that danced between her fingers.

She had been waiting for what seemed like forever when she heard her door open and footsteps descending the hall. Without thought, Alina sat up with a smile when but when she saw Tony standing there bruised and bloody it faded. "What do you want," she questioned masking the hurt of it not being Steve. She hadn't expected him back so soon, nor had she considered what she would do if she had.

The older mans eyes fell briefly upon her bag saying, "To confirm something." Tony fully entered the room picking up the bag at her feet questioning her, "Is this the bag you were going to take to run away with Steve?"

Alina sucked in a breath and all she could wonder was, "Where is he?"

Tony shrugged placing the bag back down telling her truthfully, "Who knows? He's gone Alina. He can't come back, or they'll arrest him; you'll never see him again." Alina clenched her jaw out hearing his answer, "And don't think Secretary Ross hasn't noticed you haven't signed the accords either kid, or that he neglected to notice how someone with power eerily similar to your were seen helping them at the airport but conveniently escaped while the others did. Even still, I got them to agree that if you signed they'd keep forgetting it."

The brunette felt her heart crack, she never imagined feeling so alone in Tony's presence. but she knew he was right, Steve wasn't coming for her, he couldn't. For a while Alina couldn't get herself to utter anything; Alina took a step towards him when she was finally able to defiantly tell him, "I will never ever sign that paper, and none of you will ever make me."

"Is that why you were going to run with Steve," Tony questioned his hands tucked into his pockets. When he saw the look on her face he reasoned, "You were going to go on the run and give up everything you were building."

Firm as she had ever been Alina replied, "Yes, because I would rather throw it all away than to be controlled by the hands of politicians and what they and their politics think is right!" The force of her voice nearly made the grown man cower, "Just because I have powers and they're afraid of me doesn't mean they get to own me. I won't answer to them. I didn't fight so hard to be free to just be transferred to a different governments ownership."

"This will keep you safe Alina, you will be out of prison," he snapped at her unable for the life of him to understand why she of all people wouldn't sign the accords. Which only served to break Alina's heart further, it was as if learning he had never really known her at all.

Alina shook her head scoffing as she told him, "No, signing that paper would be a prison of my own making, Tony! I spent my whole life being controlled by people and I refuse to ever do it again and do what they believe is right instead of what I believe in. I won't sign that paper and you shouldn't ask me to. I would rather die in a cell, than do that."

Tony rubbed his face frustrated before asking, "Why not Alina? This makes sure no government will ever hurt you again. You will be protected."

"And what about the people they would no doubt will send me after? Will they be safe, I'll still be America's weapon. You're just trading me from one governments control and handing me to another," Alina snapped at him angrily as she carried on, "Why do you think Steve was going to come back for me!? He knew how important it was to stay free to me, he cared about what I wanted. He knew I couldn't stand to be here if the price was my freedom! He knew I wanted my life to be filled with choices made by me and me alone."

Tony couldn't help himself as he shouted at the young girl, "Well Steve's gone!" Alina jumped at his statement, calming himself down Tony replied back to her, "I'm sorry, but he's gone and he's not coming back, but luckily for you I struck a deal."

Confused she asked her tone still cold, "What kind of deal?"

Moving closer standing a few feet away he told her, "You go to New York, live a normal life, stick close to someone and you'll be free of the accords."

"Why such a generous deal for someone they fear so much," Alina wondered, Tony sighed knowing the answer. Figuring it out the brunette figured, "Unless that's the exact reason, they're generous because they're afraid of me." Tony's face fell looking down, Alina scoffed knowing she was right, "They think it's better to give in slightly rather than leave me to do whatever I want on my own cause they know they could never stop me if they tried."

Tony sighed telling her, "I'm sorry Alina, but to them you areโ€“โ€“"

Cutting him off she answered, "A killer? Some freak show hydra agent in waiting? Does that about sum it up for you, Tony?" When the older man said nothing Alina demanded rigidly fighting her emotions, "Get out."

"Alina," Tony tried to say but she cut him off again.

Raising her hand, she used her powers to slam the door open Alina screamed, "Get out of my room before I make you get out!"

Not wanting a fight Tony gave in turning around walking out. Tony went to turn to look at her, but Alina raised her hand slamming the door shut again. Once it was closed Alina let settle tears slip knowing no matter what she was a prisoner in someone's battle. She was stuck in a life she did not want and did not deserve to be forced into. She felt as if she was breaking into hundreds of pieces, and she couldn't be fixed. Alina was in ruins.
