𝐢𝐱. skinny dipping
THE SOUND of wrapping and Teddy's grunting was heard from her bedroom. Her leg was in more pain than before and Kai was trying not to laugh as he watched her from the sofa.
Her dad was still trying to wrap his head around the fact his wife was really never gonna be okay and all she needed was someone to tell her it was okay. So, she called Kai. She was surprised at this. She went from hating him to them being friends. Well, that's even pushing it.
Kai finally let out a laugh, immediately smacking it over his mouth, "Kai Blake, shut up!" Teddy said, throwing him the bandages. He caught it with a swift motion, walking over to her.
He got down on one knee, grabbing her foot gently as he placed it on his leg. "What are you doing?" She asked softly, making him look up at her stupidly, "What does it look like? Im helping you."
"Who said I needed help?" Teddy tried pulling away her foot, only for him to hold it down even more, "For Christ sake, have you ever not been stubborn for one second?"
Teddy rolled her eyes, finally giving in with a course sigh. His gentle hands that rested on her calf slowly reached up, pulling her leg down further. His touch sent shivers down her body, making her look away and it was like her knew what he was doing, looking up at her with a sheepish expression, "There you go, Princess." He taped her thigh two times, before walking back to his spot.
"You know, we are becoming really nice friends. I'm loving this development." Teddy teased, fighting back her smile. "Just because I am taking you to the Deb ball, does not make us friends." Kai pointed, trying to hide his smile. "Your lying!" Teddy sat up, smiling at him once she saw his blush. "Are you blushing!" Laughter filled the room, "At you? Ew, gross!"
Teddy rolled her eyes, her mouth opening to speak before she was interrupted by two girls walking into her room, "Hey!" Taylor and Belly greeted and Kai immediately looked at his phone at the sight of them, rolling his eyes in annoyance.
"What's up?" Teddy scooted over, letting Taylor wrap her arm around her shoulder, "Well, Nicole invited us to a Deb get together tonight. Wanna come?"
"I dunno, GiGi and my brother are going through something right now," she was cut off by Taylor's groan, "Excuses! Your going! So get dressed, tell whoever that is to go home and meet us in downstairs." Kai scoffed, waving them off before Teddy looked between the two of them. "Okay. Fine!"
"Yes!" Belly clapped, throwing her arms over her in a hug. Teddy laughed, trying not to remember all her angry thoughts with Belly, squeezing her back. "Okay, be ready in thirty!"
Silence filled the room once the door slammed shut. Teddy awkwardly turned her head to Kai. "So, where we goin?" Teddy gave him a stern look making him nod as he grabbed his back. "I know." He groaned, walking out the door with a slam.
Teddy's shoes hit the floor as she hissed at the heaviness of her shoes pressing against her foot. But, she smiled, doing a spin for the two girls infront of her as they grabbed her hand, guiding her out of the home.
Teddy always loves parties. It was a chance to finally step out of her own comfort zone. So, as the giggles filled the boat and the glasses of champagne sat on the tables, it gave her a source of comfort. The late night only made everything better.
"Put a finger down if you have ever made out with two people within two hours of each other." Teddy giggled watched Nicole and Gigi put a finger down. "Okay, put a finger down if you've ever used a stuff animal to," her eyebrows wiggled, indicating getting to off. "What?" Teddy and Belly whispered in sync looking at each other in disgust.
"His name was Harry Bear styles." Taylor shrugged, "I need weed for this conversation." Teddy mumbled making Belly laugh. "Okay, put a finger down if you've ever had sex."
Teddy had all but one finger up, and she didn't move a muscle at this question. She always told herself she was gonna wait for a special boy, but it felt as if there were none left.
"If you've ever been to third," neither of them moved, "if you've ever gone to second?"
Teddy was not embarrassed by this, shrugging her shoulders, "Nope."
"Really? You don't seem innocent." Nicole stated, "I wouldn't say I am." Teddy showed a lazy grin making her nod in agreement. "Put a finger down if you've ever made out with Jeremiah Fisher."
Belly slowed lowered her finger, as did Teddy. Belly looked at her with shock, confused. It was almost like her heart dropped. It was out now. And the secret she was hoping that Teddy would never find out about it.
She gave her a pleading glare, making Teddy shake her head. "Guys, we want all the tea." Nicole said.
Teddy leaned in her chair, silent. Was she ever going to tell her? It wasn't like she didn't already know but, the betrayal hadn't never been like this. They were always one, never two. And now Belly had seemed to forget the conversations they had last summer about Jeremiah and how much she liked him. Even though she desperately tried to prove those feelings were really gone, it hurt.
Her stare was like bullets in her mind and she couldn't even look at the girl. She was hurt. The girl she called her sister was now destined to be with the boy that she waited to be with for years. She bit her lip as belly began talking, "There's nothing to talk about. He's like my best friend."
Teddy sarcastically let out a small laugh, Gigi giving her a confused look. They all seemed to notice this change in emotions but she didn't care. Belly needed to know how bad this hurt. "When did this start?"
"Um about a week ago. We kissed in the pool house." Teddy nodded, "Oh, yeah. I remember waking up and you two were just macking away." Teddy said, making Belly panic. "You saw?"
"Mhm." Nicole decided to break the awkward silence with a statement, "I always had this weird feeling there was something going on with you and Conrad. But I guess I had the wrong brother."
Teddy bit her lip staring at the water behind her. The stinging sensation in her heart only worsened by hearing it from her. Yes, she knew, but the words that splurged out of Belly's mouth made it worse.
"Put a finger down if you've ever gone skinny dipping." One of the girls said, "Is that a dare?"
As they all began running towards the water Teddy only stood up, eye to eye with Belly, all the words she wrote in her mind threatened to come out. "You said you were over him." Belly muffled, shaking her head.
Teddy couldn't even believe it now beginning to walk away while the girl followed not far behind as they both stripped, jumping into the cold water. It was hard to have fun with the flashbacks of them. And all she could think of was how,
She should've known.
Her heart has been crying for Jeremiah Fisher ever since the eighth grade. She had been there through every girlfriend, every heartbreak, every story, she was there. Finally when she was ready to let him in, the girl she thought would never hurt her was kissing him. He wasn't hers to fight for anymore.
"I knew they were bitches— Teddy!" At this she snapped her head around to see the water empty, with only them three there. "What's going on?"
"They ditched us! And took all of our clothes!" This made everything worse. "This day just keeps getting worse and worse, huh?"
"We cannot walk home naked." Belly said, looking around for anything that will cover them up. "It could be worse!" Belly shook her head, "This is worse!"
"What about that?" Taylor groaned, "Oh no."
KAI BLAKE leaned against the wall, a cup in his hand as he watched the dance happening in the middle of the crowd. He spotted Jeremiah, making him roll his eyes as he turned the other way.
"Hey!" Jeremiah grabbed his shoulder, "I know you don't give a shit about what I have to say but, the girls are in trouble." Kai looked him up and down, wondering why he thinks he would give a shit. "Teddy is in trouble." His glare barely softened, making him nod, "I'll take my car."
He had never gotten somewhere to fast, holding a bag of clothes in his hand as the three of them jumped out each of their cars. "What happened?"
"Kai," it was like a relief in Teddy's voice until she saw Jeremiah and her eyes went harsh, then she looked back at him. "What are you doing here?" Taylor said.
"Oh my god, Belly, are you okay?" It was like Jeremiah completely ignored her, running over to them. "Nicole, she told me about um," Conrad was cut off by Teddy's angry voice, "I swear to god if I see your little girlfriend, shes done for." Conrad rolled his eyes, "Not my girlfriend anymore." He looked at Belly when he said those words, making Teddy look at Jeremiah who had looked away.
"Can you just," She handed them the sides as they quickly put their clothes on. The boys looked away, but holding the blanket tightly in their hands.
Kai waited patiently at the car for Teddy, and Jeremiah couldn't even bare the thought. He was so angry at himself for how he had been treating her. How could he let something like this happen? So, as soon as they got done, she tried to walk to Kai, but her hand was grabbed eagerly.
"Can I talk to you? I'll take us home." Jeremiah offered, making her look back at Belly. She wasn't like her. She wasn't gonna keep switching back and fourth. Her eyes locked on Kai and was looking at the ground.
He was waiting for her to say yes, about to walk to his drivers seat until she spoke up, "No. Belly's riding with you, I'm riding with Kai." She said, walking to the car.
Teddy took a deep breathe, trying to regather herself until she felt his hand on hers. "Wanna talk about it?"
Teddy let out a shaky breathe, only pulling him close to her into an embrace. She took in his scent of cocoa and weed, rubbing his neck with her thumb as she gathered her words. "Thank you, Kai."
Kai was shocked at her sudden display of affection, hugging her back with ease as his arms wrapped around her waist, pulling her closer. He shivered at her touch, putting a hand in her hair. "Anytime, Teddy."
She pulled back as they were now staring at each other deeply. She found herself being lost in his eyes, a small smile forming on her face whilst she stared at him. She was so comfortable, her hands still resting on the back of his neck.
Kai was fighting a kiss, his eyes flickering across her skin that shined under the moonlight. His thumb reached up to graze her cheek, and slowly reach up to touch her wet curls. Once he saw her get comfortable in his hands, he reached up to place a kiss on her forehead.
Nothing was said after that, and the car ride home was filled with comfortable silence.
Jeremiah Fisher's mind was filled with regret. He should've told her sooner instead of acting like a dick. But, she had found somebody better. Jeremiah was now taking Belly to the debutant dance and all he could think of was Teddy. He imagined him dancing with her, not Belly. But, he had so much care for Belly, yes.
But not like he did Teddy.
