scenario one: caught in the act

(y/c) had had a crush on kaede akamatsu for a while now, but never quite like this. it seemed like the longer they waited to confess their love to her, the more intense the love became.

kaede had been their friend for a long time- since middle school, actually. she had closer friends, but it wasn't like they were complaining- (y/c)'s spot in her friend group was enough to get them close enough to get exactly what they wanted. they could volunteer to walk her places to make sure nobody looked at her funny, spend enough time with her to get the best pictures of her when she wasn't paying attention, enough time studying with her to memorize her face and smile and hair a million times over.

however, (y/c) started to notice that kaede had started avoiding them. she rejected their offers to accompany her places, and seemed far more tense when they joined the conversation. (y/c) couldn't understand. had she noticed all the things they'd been doing in secret? all of them were out of love! why was she acting like this? fortunately, kaede did accept the study session that (y/c) offered after school- she said that she was nervous for the upcoming biology test.

they'd met up in the library, and were a few minutes into studying when (y/c) looked up from their work, noticing again how pretty kaede looked when she was focused. they leaned their head on their hand, continuing to watch her as they drifted off into a daydream.

" ... san ? (y/c) - san ! " kaede's voice drifted in, and (y/c) blinked quickly, pulling themselves back to reality. " i ... i didn't want to come today because i was nervous you were going to be creepy again , a - and i was right - what are you doing ?! "

scenario two: all to yourself

kaede had been avoiding (y/c), and it was getting worse and worse every day. canceling plans, getting quiet when they tried to talk to her, trying to avoid situations with them, and more. the more she did it, the more angry (y/c) got.

see, they were in love with her. deeply in love with her. it wasn't just a schoolkid's crush- honestly, it was closer to an obsession. they stalked her social media, stole her spare items like pencils and chapstick, took pictures of her when she wasn't looking, and daydreamed about their future together often. but the more kaede ignored (y/c), the more upset they got. how were they ever supposed to have that future if kaede could just leave?

they had to make it so she couldn't leave.

the plan took about a week, but by that time, everything was pretty much prepared for what was about to happen. (y/c) needed to take kaede akamatsu for themselves, and force her to stay with them- only until she learned to love them herself, of course! they had asked if kaede needed somebody to walk her home the next day, since they'd found out that her parents wouldn't be able to pick her up. she'd reluctantly agreed, feeling safer with (y/c) than on her own. what a mistake that was.

they'd set up a room just for her, so she could have her own space to herself even when she was being kept in (y/c)'s house. they'd soundproofed the room so their neighbors wouldn't hear her if she tried to call for help. now all that was left was to put the plan into action.

on their way home, (y/c) had subtly mentioned piano and music preferences, knowing full well that was a trigger for kaede to start rambling about her passions. she'd been so wrapped up in what she was trying to explain that she hadn't even noticed that they were going in the direction of (y/c)'s house and not her own.

" ... so even though my personal top ranking goes piano , violin , flute , it's only because the piano has the lowest , highest , and longest range of any instrument ! it can play songs that no other instrument physically can ! " she rambled excitedly.

scenario three: accidents happen

(y/c) wasn't quite sure what was wrong with kaede, but they knew full well that they didn't want to be involved. every time they saw her, she seemed to be freaking out, tripping over her words. she never seemed happy around them, which was weird, because when (y/c) mentioned her odd behavior to their friends, they told them they didn't see it. maybe, they considered, maybe they should just avoid her until this whole thing was over.

school had let out for the day, and (y/c) was trying to find one of their good friends- who had told them that they had a surprise for them after school. however, while a lot of kids were heading out to walk, drive, or take the bus home, kaede was the one that caught (y/c)'s eye. she looked shaken up. like, really bad. bad enough that it looked like she'd seen a ghost. she seemed to be trying to keep her head down and stay unnoticed- and it seemed like she was making a beeline to the girl's bathroom. so what, (y/c) thought, maybe she'd been crying and wanted to clean up and fix her makeup. that seemed like the most reasonable explanation.

until they noticed the pink splotches on her face and clothing.
