kaede had wanted to have a movie night date for a while now, so when the two of them finally had a break from school and other activities, they jumped on the chance to have a movie night. rantaro invited kaede over to his dorm, and kaede brought snacks. they hadn't figured out what they wanted to watch yet, but they were both super excited for this date that they'd wanted for a while.

the two had been scrolling through the streaming service's options for a while now, and hadn't seemed to come up with anything they both wanted to watch. after a minute or so about thinking on their own of movies to search specifically for, kaede's face lit up. " oh ! you've been talking about that new movie for a few weeks , the one that just came out on digital ? "
rantaro blinked. were they thinking of the same one? " that horror movie ... ? "
" mhm ! look it up , see if they have it ! " kaede encouraged him. hesitantly, he did so, finding out that it did seem to be on that service. he was flattered that kaede had remembered, and glad it was on here to watch, but as excited as kaede seemed, would she be okay with a horror movie? or was she just doing this because she thought rantaro would enjoy it?

the two had decided together on a classic movie, but one that, somehow, neither of them had ever gotten around to seeing. they started the movie, and it was going really well. at one point, kaede leaned her head on the taller boy's shoulder. it was kind of cute, but rantaro didn't think much of it— until about fifteen minutes before the movie's end.
he asked her some offhand question about the movie, and repeated it again when he didn't get a response from kaede. when he paused the movie and went quiet, trying to get a look at her face, he realized that the pianist had fallen asleep with her head on his shoulder.
