We run through the cave and don't stop, my legs pumping with adrenaline. Anya and Clarke start pulling on clothes as they run and I grab a jacket from Anya, slipping it on. I try to tighten my ponytail but the hair tie snaps and I glare at the broken elastic.
"Shit" I curse, pocketing the elastic to fix later.
"Damn it! This place is a maze!" Clarke snaps.
Anya coughs and we come to a stop.
"What are they doing to us?" She asks.
"They're using your blood to cure themselves from radiation poisoning" I explain.
"I saw a soldier come in with radiation burns. Hours later, he was fine. It's like your blood is healing them somehow. I've never seen anything like it" Clarke elaborates.
"Hey, let's keep moving" I state and they nod.
"This way" Clarke says and and starts jogging away.
I follow the blonde only to stop when I see Anya isn't beside me. I turn in confusion and see the grounder facing back to the reapers.
"Hey! What are you doing?!" Clarke whisper shouts.
"That's the way back to the reapers" She adds.
"You go your way, i'll go mine" Anya says weakly.
"Anya, we need to stick together!" Clarke protests.
"I told you there is no 'we'!" Anya snaps.
"Ava and I saved your life!" Clarke retorts.
"You saved my life because you need me! I know the way back to your people! I know where the traps are hidden. You'd never make it alone" Anya growls.
"Listen up, bitches! We don't have time to stand around and gossip! Our best chance at surviving is together, why can't you see that?!" I shout at them both in anger, walking away from them.
"She's right, all we can do is keep moving and hope-" Clarke's sentence is cut short and I turn to see why.
Anya, you fucking bitch
"Move, we gotta find her!" I order and start jogging.
My feet skid to a stop when I see the orange lights of the fire the reapers carry and I grit my teeth together in frustration. I turn, grabbing Clarke's arm and sprint in the other direction.
We run for what feels like miles before we're stopped by a reaper. I spin around to see there is another one behind us and so I tug Clarke in the direction of the other tunnel. We almost reach the end when two other reapers cut us off.
"Oh, no!" Clarke cries.
"Shit! Shit! Shit!" I curse wildly as they all get closer, backing us into the cave wall.
"Please!" Clarke pleads.
They growl at us maliciously and I grab Clarke's hand, fearing that this is the end for us.
Out of nowhere a high pitched screech is heard and all the reapers fall to their knees, holding their heads.
"Get back!" I hear a shout and turn my head to see two men in hazmat suits, one of them holding the thing that is making the atrocious noise.
"Get the hell away from them! Now!" The man yells and the reapers retreat.
"Clarke Griffin! Ava Steele! You're coming with us!" The man shouts as they approach us.
Each of them grab us and I don't struggle after seeing the rifle in the other man's hand.
Eventually we reach the door next to the chute that we escaped from and I feel a disappointed sinking feeling in my gut.
we're back to square one
"We saw everything! We know what you're doing to them!" Clarke shouts.
"That's why you're going in the harvest chamber with them!" One of the men retorts.
"You can't do this!" I object.
"Alpha-Delta two, we've reached the intake. Two prisoners in custody" The man says into the intercom at the door.
"Your mission was to bring back all of them! The outsider cannot be allowed to leave this mountain! Alpha-Delta one is coming out now!" Someone on the other end snaps.
I abruptly hear a battle cry and the man holding me is attacked. Clarke grabs the other guy, pulling off his mask and he chokes on air, collapsing to the ground.
"The mask!" I tell Anya who rips off the other man's mask.
"I found a way out! This way!" Anya shouts.
I lurch forward but Clarke stops to grab the rifle from the ground and I hear the door open causing me to yank her with me.
Clarke and I chase after the grounder as she runs through the tunnels, leading us home. We eventually come to an abrupt stop at a dead end, a ledge over a waterfall.
"Wait! There has to be another way!" Clarke screams.
"There isn't!" Anya replies.
"Just give up, girls! You have no place else to go!" I hear a man yell and turn to see a group of mountain men pointing guns at us.
Anya jumps from the edge and I groan, knowing the only way out is to do the same.
"Anya!" Clarke screams.
"We don't have to kill you! Do you hear me?! It doesn't have to end like this! Just surrender!" The man barks.
Clarke drops the gun and I shake my head.
"Hands up!" The man shouts.
She starts walking forward but I stay rooted in my spot.
"Take the prisoners" The man snaps.
Clarke then turns to me and starts running. I grin widely and dive off the ledge with Clarke by my side.
"Whoo!" I scream as I free fall for what feels like miles.
I hit the water harshly and it submerges me completely. I open my eyes and through watery vision I see Clarke floating in the water above me.
Using all the strength I have left, I fight my way to the surface and grab her. The current pushes us and I try to fight it but it's too strong.
Soon enough it weakens and I see an opportunity to get free. I kick my legs and pull Clarke with me towards the land.
My feet hit the stones and I let out a relieved sigh, dragging Clarke from the water. Anya comes out of the trees and takes Clarke out my arms, throwing the girl into the stones.
She splutters, coughing up water as I collapse to my knees and Anya takes a seat at the side of her.
"Thank you" Clarke mumbles and I nod before looking up at the sky.
"I think we should go back to the drop ship first so I can see if my people-" Clarke's sentence is cut off and I look down to see Anya has hit her in the head with a rock.
Anya climbs onto the girl and blood runs down her head as I sit in shock, my mouth hung open.
"We're not going back to your drop ship! You killed three hundred of my warriors! I can't show my face without a prize!" Anya shouts.
"Leave her alone!" I demand, pushing the grounder away from Clarke.
Anya tackles me to the ground and raises a rock above my head.
"Don't make me cave your skull in, Ava" She threatens.
"You made a deal" I remind her.
"Doesn't mean I won't kill her" Anya snaps, looking at the bleeding Clarke Griffin.
I let out a frustrated huff and shove the woman off of me.
"Get the fuck off me!" I snap.
