The air was still. Cold almost.
The scientist— Jenner, pointed a gun at them when they first arrived, asking if anybody was infected. Not anymore was what Hallie would've replied.
not anymore.
The elevator was cramped. The air was hot— body heat coming from all sides. Everything around Hallie was blurred, her hearing was muffled; her brain focusing on the humming of the lift attempting to keep her standing.
"Are we underground?" Carol asked suddenly, that what broke Hallie out of her trance.
"Are you claustrophobic?" A question answered with a question. Smart ass.
"A little" the woman warily replied.
"Try not to think about it" Jenner said.
The group exited the elevator immediately welcomed into a large room.
"Welcome to zone five" A voice erupted.
"Where is everybody?" Rick questioned the man. He had a defeated look in his eyes.
"They're gone. It's just me, I'm sorry" Jenner apologised.

That was the last clear moment Hallie could remembered perfectly. Now she was sat in a car curled into her fathers side watching the CDC in shambles as it burnt to the ground. Jacquie was dead and now they had to keep going. They stopped, they died. Simple.
"Baby, I'm gonna need to you snap out of whatever trance you've been in the past few days" Shane asserted as he held his daughters shoulders.
A simple nod came from the blonde as she wiped her tear stained cheeks sniffling slightly. She liked Jacqui, she was a core member of the group—almost like a mother figure to all. A calming sense of relief was felt when she was in anyones presence. Hallie would miss her.
Shane stared the car as Hallie climbed into the back where Roman sat. A sorrowful smile was painted onto his features as Hallie laid into his embrace.
"I've got you" Roman whispered into her ear, gently combing his hands through the curly mop.
"Always?" Hallie asked calmly as a single tear dropped down her cheek, slithering down causing a streak of wetness of her face.
"And forever" Roman confirmed.
As Shane looked through the mirror above his head he was glad that Hallie would have someone when he wasn't there to protect her. Whether it be a friend, a brother or more. She had someone. Always and forever.

Life isn't easy. It never has been, not for anyone. The rich, the poor or anyone in between. Life always got in the way. Now for the group at this moment in time the RV had broken down, again and the highway was blocked off by dozens of vehicles.
Roman and Hallie were rooting through cars, attempting to scavenge any supply's that could be helpful.
"What do ya' think" Roman smirked, causing Hallie to look up from the trunk she was rifling through to see Roman in a straw hat on his head with a sundress held up to his body.
"Don't you look mighty fine, ma'am" Hallie joked as she tipped his head.
"Thank you sir" Roman joked, his voice raising a few octaves as he twirled around, a laugh erupting out of Hallie as she watched him.
A look of pure adoration on romans face as he looked at her, Hallie was a girl you just couldn't keep your eyes off.
"What?" Hallie smiled noticing the soft eyes upon her.
"Your-" Roman was cut off by ricks frantic yet quiet yells from them to her understand the cars.
Looking back at him, a herd of walkers trailed behind him. Shock took over hallies body as Romans senses went into flight or fight mode.
The car that they were by was too low to the ground for either of them to fit under so quickly he took her hand and pulled her towards the edge of the rod jumping over the barricade falling straight to the ground with Hallie by his side.
The two silently laid—covered by the long bridles of grass praying to god that they were hidden enough.
Hallie moved slightly, a yelp unintentionally coming from the girl as a sharp edge cut her stomach. Romans hand immediately covered her mouth not allowing another peep out of the girl as the walkers feet shuffled along the road. Another move could cause whatever was digging into the girl to go deeper, creating a deeper wound more likely for infection to create a home in the girls body.
The walkers passed as soon as they came. As romans hand reluctantly peeled away from Hallies face she gasped from a breath as she used her hands to push her body up from the ground. A whine came from the girl as she stood up placing her hand in her stomach.
She could feel the a sticky liquid on her hand but she didn't want to look down at the damage. No, so Roman did.
"Holy fuck" He spoke, that sure as hell didn't make her feel better. A large branch stuck up from the loose ground, a dark substance remained on it.
As Hallie looked down at her stomach, blood was seeping through the cracks of her hand— making the girl sway slightly as a grim look came over her. Holy fuck was right.
"Okay let's go" Roman encouraged as he grabbed Hallies elbow helping her up out of the ditch. When Shane got sight of his daughter he darted over immediately enveloping her into a tight hug.
"You scared the shit out of me, kid" Shane spoke worriedly. Pulling away his eyes gluing to the crimson leaking from her stomach.
"That isn't a bite?" It was more a statement that a question, his little girl ain't bit. Pulling her hand away revealed the large gash that covered her torso. A breath of relief came from Shane that was immediately replaced with worry once again.
Pulling her over to the RV Shane helped his daughter inside sitting her down before placing a wet cloth on her stomach.
"Dad, it's not a big deal" Hallie groaned as he applied pressure.
"Cut,infection, illness then dead. You hear me? This ain't getting infected Hallie walsh" Shane ordered as he 'gently' cleaned the cut.
Pulling out a white bandage he wrapped it up before throwing the girl a new shirt.
"Go change"

"Sophia's missing" Carl spoke up. He had climbed into the RV not wanting to be around the arguing adults or carols weeping.
The two words caused a spike of anxiety to erupt into Hallie, "what?!" She asked anxiously.
"She got out too early, she ran into the woods— two walkers chasing her" Carl informed the blonde. He seemed hopeful but Sophia was a twelve year old little girl in a world full of those things.
"Come 'ere, kid" Hallie said softly as she opened her arms. Carl immediately crawling into her, sure he was 'all grown up' now but Hallie was his safe place. His home away from home. His sister that wasn't really his sister but was his sister. It was confusing but Hallie walsh and Carl grimes were family, till death do the siblings part.
"I love you, Halls" Carl whispered into the girls stomach.
"I love you more, Carl" Hallie smiled down at the boy. Even in pure darkness Carl grimes was a light that shined through like a guide. Innocence in s cruel world that seemed to worsen by the day.
