Chapter | 2

IT HAD BEEN a few weeks? Months? She wasn't quite sure as it all passed in a blur.

Since then, Edward had grown fond of the human, Bella and even went as far as letting her find out about vampires and inviting her into their home which Rosalie wasn't impressed about and Selina left the house while she was there.

Selina had grown even more distant from the Cullens but she didn't feel alone, she felt something coming, something important and if she had to not kill Bella to find out what it was then, so be it.

On that day, Edward invited Bella to play baseball with them and to say Selina was displeased would be an understatement, she couldn't help the thoughts of draining her of all her blood just to spite Edward. Not only would that break the treaty they had with the wolves but it probably wouldn't taste all that good if she was honest with herself.

Edward growled at her thoughts but Selina growled louder, surprising their family as males were usually able to make females submit, family or not.

"I'm not your bitch Edward and if you don't like my thoughts, Stay. Out. My. Head" she spelt it out for him and he clenched his jaw and held Bella closer to him who had been staring at her with wide eyes and Selina could hear her rapid heartbeat, making her smirk.

When they arrived at their usual field, the thunderstorm had just started and everyone looked excited except Rosalie who disliked the humans presence almost as much as Selina did.

Esme walked towards Bella as they got out the car and wrapped an arm around her.

"I'm glad you're here, we need an umpire" she said.

"She thinks we cheat"

"Oh, I know you cheat" she smiled at Bella.

"Call em as you see em Bella" she said gently and stepped away as Bella mumbled an 'okay'.

Rosalie got ready to swing first and Alice did her usual weird moves as she threw the ball but at this point, Selina had sat on the floor and started picking at the grass, ignoring all the action around her.

She only lifted her head up as Alice shouted to them all in a tone that meant she'd seen something.

"Stop!" Was the only thing she said, but it was enough to make Selina stand up and pay attention to what was going on once more.

They all gathered around Bella but Selina stood off to the side and looked in the direction of the noise.

"They were leaving, then they heard us" Alice explained and Edward tried to get Bella away from the field but as Carlisle said it was too late he froze and told her to put her hair down.

"Like that'll help, I can smell her from across the field" Rosalie scoffed and Selina mumbled in agreement as Edward glared at her.

Three vampires emerged from the mist and Selina gasped as she took sight of the two either side of the one in the middle.

One was a male with long blonde hair that was tied neatly into a low ponytail, his eyes were red along with the rest of them and he wore a slightly tattered shirt with jeans.

The other was a stunningly gorgeous female with wavy ginger hair and a white fur cloak hanging over her shoulders.

Neither of them seemed to notice her just yet as their eyes were set on the group beside her.

Lightning flashed as they came to a stop in front of her family, the middle one holding their ball up in the air.

"I believe this belongs to you" he smiled and threw it to Carlisle, who caught it with one hand without looking.

Carlisle said a friendly 'thank you' before the middle vampire introduced them.

"I am Laurent. This is Victoria and James" he said, nodding his head in their directions as he said their names.

"I'm Carlisle and this is my family" he said back, gesturing his head from left to right and only then did James and Victorias eyes settle on their mate.

Selina could see them both clenching their jaw as Edward held a hand in front of her to stop her from going to them but Selina didn't bother to stop the small grumble at being held back.

"Hello" Laurent smiled again.

"I'm afraid your hunting activities have caused something of a mess for us" Carlisle stated politely.

"Our apologies, we didn't realise the territory had been claimed" he apologised, but whether he was sincere was hard to tell.

"Yes, well we maintain a permanent residence nearby" Carlisle explained as he subtly glanced to where James and Victoria had not moved their eyes from, seeing it was Selina, he talked to Edward through his mind, thinking the worst, not even considering the possibility of a mate bond.

Laurent let out a small chuckle.

"Really? Well, we won't be a problem anymore. We were just passing through" he said.

Finally tearing her eyes away from Selina, Victoria spoke up.

"The humans were tracking us, but we led them East, you should be safe" she said the words at the end quietly, as if mocking them and Selina didn't bother to hide the small smile that it brought to her face.

"Excellent" Carlisle said.

James said nothing the entire time, glaring at Edward who now held Selinas arm so hard that it almost cracked.

Selina stares right back at him and missed the last words that were said before James inhaled deeply as the wind blew Bellas scent in his direction.

He turned his attention to Bella.

"Ah, you brought a snack" he said, stepping forward and baring his teeth as the Cullens formed a protective barrier around her.

Both Laurent and Victoria rushed to his side and Selina wanted to do the same but, this time, Emmett held her back as Edward whispered too quite for everyone to hear except Emmett. Selina growled and tried to pry herself from Emmetts grasp but it was no use, he was stronger so she stopped struggling for now.

"The girl is with us, I think it best if you leave" Carlisle said calmly but the underlining threat was there.

"I can see the game is over, we'll go now" Laurent spoke, clearly the peacemaker of the trio.

He slowly backed away and called for James to do the same. He wrapped an arm around Victoria but made no move to leave, only taking a few steps back.

"We are not leaving just yet" James said, temporarily leaving the human to turn back to his other mate.

"You have no chance in winning a fight" Carlisle reasoned.

"We do not wish to fight" Laurent spoke, not understanding quite what was going on.

"No, we don't but you have something of ours" Victoria said, looking at Selina pointedly who once again struggled in Emmetts tight grip.

"Let me go, or so help me I will kill you where you stand" she hissed through her teeth but Emmett made no move to let go.

"She is not yours and you will not take her. You are outmatched and you really must leave" Carlisle reasoned.

Selina stared at her 'family' in disbelief and then back to the two people she longed to be with.

"Go, we'll see each other again" Selina promised softly, knowing that it wouldn't end well for her mates if a fight erupted.

James and Victoria stood still for a moment but at the pleading look in their mates eyes, they left but not before James took one last look at Bella and smiled a psychotic smile as he imagined his revenge.

"I'm going to murder each of you, one by one" Selina fumed as Emmett finally released her. She made no move to follow her mates, she was no tracker but she knew that they wouldn't give up just as she wouldn't.

The Cullens glanced at each other and shrugged the comment off, used to her threats, all but one. Edward peaked under the hood of her mind and glared at the car that she had gotten into.

She definitely wasn't kidding.
