THE ROOM OF REQUIREMENT was decorated in misteltoes and Christmas light. Christmas wasn't that long away now and this was the last time that the DA would meet, before the holidays started.
"Okay, this evening we should just go over the things we've done so far, because it's the last meeting before the holidays and there's no point starting anything new right before a three-week break—", Harry stated his wand in his hand while his gaze wandered over the crowd of students that we're gathered infront of him.
"We're not doing anything new?", Zacharias Smith whispered loudly enough for his voice to be carried through the whole room. "If I'd known that, I wouldn't have come."
"We're really sorry Harry didn't tell you, then", Fred said loudly, while starring the boy down. Several people sniggered at Fred's sarcastic comment.
But Harry just chose to ignore the comments, "— We can practice in pairs— We'll start with the Impediment Jinx, for ten minutes, then we can get out the cushions and try stunning again." His voice was firm and he had clearly gotten used to giving the instructions now.
They then all paired up obediently and soon the room was full of cries of "Impedimenta".
Annabeth was partnered up with Neville and to her surprise the boy had gotten quiet good over time. He stunned her quite a few times and after the lesson was over she clapped him onto his shoulder. "You're getting really good at this, Neville."
The boy smiled at her proudly, his chest growing bigger, "Thank you."
The crowd gathered in the middle of the room and Annabeth took her place next to Harry while she spoke, "You're getting all very good! I think, when we get back from the Holidays we can start practicing some of the big stuff— maybe even Patronuses."
There was a murmur of excitement going through the crowd and everyone was seemingly excited. They all wished each other great holidays and then the room slowly cleared out.
Annabeth was walking alongside Ron and Hermione when she spotted Cho and Harry standing by the book shelf's talking to each other.
The brunette smiled to herself while she closed the doors behind her and followed after her friends.
She felt happy for her brother, he had a crush on Cho for quite some time now and she finally noticed him. But Annabeth couldn't help the stinging feeling in her heart that reminded her of Cedric.
"Are you all right?", Hermione's voice suddenly questioned her, yanking the brunette back into reality.
Annabeth quickly nodded her head at her friend and forced a smile, "Yeah I'm all right."
There was silence between them when suddenly a familiar voice made them all snapp around to no other than Draco Malfoy. "Potter!"
The platinum blond boy had his hands stuffed in his trouser pockets while he walked towards them. "If I were you I would hurry up, curfew is about to start. It would be a shame if I had to give you a detention."
Ron and Hermione just chose to ignore Malfoy while Annabeth rolled her eyes at the Slytherin boy, "Don't you have someone else to annoy, Malfoy?"
"Probably— but you're my favourite person to annoy", the boy smirked at Annabeth while he fell into step with her.
Ron and Hermione stayed silent, walking at a great distance in front of them. But Annabeth could see that Ron would've loved to punch Malfoy right into his arrogant face. He was still angry because of what happened at the Quidditch game, and he had all the right to be. But he stayed calm and just pretended like Malfoy wasn't there.
Annabeth turned her head to face the blond boy, who was already looking at her, "Look— here's the thing, Malfoy. That stunt you pulled on the Quidditch pitch— I was not a fan—"
Draco stayed silent, while she continued. "So stay away from me—", she shot at him in anger before she caught up to the other's, leaving him behind.
The girl casted one last look over her shoulder, her eyes locking with Draco's, which made a smile appear on his lips.
Annabeth cursed herselfe under her breath before she quickly turned around and followed her friends.
The group of Gryffindors' wandered through the corridors of the castle until they reached the Gryffindor Common room and Annabeth's decided that she would finish her charms homework until Harry would return back to the Common Room.
About twenty long minutes passed by until the doors to the Common Room opened and Harry appeared. He had a dumb look and a large smirk plastered on his face while he made his way over to them.
"So what did she want?", Ron immediately questioned his best mate with an expecting grin on his face.
"She— she—", Harry stuttered while he sat down besides his sister.
"Did you kiss?", Hermione immediately questioned him and Ron raised his eyebrows at his friend suggestively while he sat up, "Well?"
Harry's cheeks turned crimson red and he avoided eye contact, which made them a smile widely.
Ron leaned with his elbows forward onto his knees, "Well— how was it?"
"Wet—" Harry answered them honestly and Annabeth gave him a questioning look. "Because she was crying."
Ron frowned at him, "Oh— are you that bad at kissing?" Harry shrugged at him, "Dunno— maybe I am."
Hermione rolled with her eyes, "No, you're not." Ron gave her a sceptical look, his eyebrows raised, "How do you know?"
"Because Cho spents half her time crying these days— she does it at mealtimes, in the loos, all over the place", Hermione told them, her eyes showing her empathy for the girl.
Annabeth knew that Cho had been Cedrics ex-girlfriend and that she also suffered the loss of him because they had still been friends in fourth year, but she didn't knew that the girl was suffering this much.
"You'd think a bit of kissing would cheer her up", Ron joked while he exchanged a look with Harry.
Annabeth scoffed at his statement, she could understand the girl more than anyone ever could. "Ron— you are the most insensitive wart I have ever had the misfortune to meet", Annabeth stated while she glared at the boy besides her.
The boy frowned at her in confusion, "What's that's supposed to mean? What kind of person cries if someone is kissing them?"
Harry frowned at them as well, "Yeah— who does?"
"Don't you understand how Cho's feeling at the moment?", Hermione questioned them, her face showing her disbelief.
The boys answering her in union, "No."
Hermione looked at them as if it were the most obvious thing in the world, "Well, obviously, she's feeling very sad because of Cedric dying. They were friends after all. Then I expect she's feeling confused because she likes Harry and she'll be worrying about the OWLs and if she's going to be thrown off the Ravenclaw Quidditch team because she's been flying so badly."
"One person can't feel all that at once, they'd explode!", Ron stated while his eyes were widening.
"Just because you've got the emotional range of a tea spoon doesn't mean we all have!", Hermione snapped at him before they all suddenly broke out into a fit of laughter.
"Are you going to see her again?", Annabeth then suddenly questioned her brother curiously.
"I'll have to, won't I? We have the DA meetings", Harry stated and Annabeth rolled with her eyes. "You know what I mean."
"Oh, well— you have plenty of opportunities to ask her", Hermione assured the boy, who seemed like he was thinking about it.
"What if he doesn't want to ask her?", Ron questioned her with a raised eyebrow.
"Don't be silly— Harry's liked her for ages, haven't you Harry?", Annabeth questioned her brother and Harry nodded at her, but remained silent, seeming deep in his thoughts.
"Who are you writing the novel to?", Ron suddenly questioned Hermione, who was scribbling away on a piece of parchment.
Her voice was quiet when she answered him, "Viktor."
Ron seemed to be confused, "Krum?" Hermione gave him a quick glare, "How many other Viktors do we know?"
After a long moment of silence Hermione grabbed the letter and got up from her seat. "Well, night!"
Annabeth saw the disbelieving look Ron was giving her while she strutted up towards their dormitories, the parchment still in her hand.
"I'm heading off as well", she then stated before she gathered her school stuff and followed Hermione up into their dormitory.
Lavender and Parvati were already seemingly asleep while Hermione was still writing her letter. The moonlight fell through the window, spending Annabeth light while she moved through the room.
The brunette got ready for bed and after she laid down, it didn't take her long to drift off into a deep sleep.
The last couple of months, nightmares of that horrible night on the cemetery were haunting her dreams. And everytime Cedric's lifeless face expression was reappearing before her eyes.
This night it wasn't any different. Annabeth was once again at the cemetery, when she relieved the scene.
Hundreds of gravestones surrounding her. Voldemort leaning over Cedric's dead body, his snake like eyes narrowing at her and Harry.
His sharp voice cutting into her soul like a knife.
Suddenly a couple of cold hands yanked at her and Annabeth immediately snapped out of her dream.
The brunette gasped loudly when she opened her eyes, but after a second she was met by Hermione, who had a worried expression on her face, "Annabeth wake up— something happened."
Annabeth rubbed her eyes while she slowly sat up, a frown on her face, "What—"
"Quickly—It's Harry—", Hermione told her and the brunette girl immediately climbed out of bed, following the brunette out of the Gryffindor Common room.
The corridors of the castle were cold and Annabeth pulled her jacket closer around her body while they made their way through the darkness.
"What's with Harry?"
Hermione shook her head at her, "Professor McGonagall didn't really say— she came into our room and just told me to wake you up and accompany you to Professor Dumbeldors office."
They then came to a stand infront of the large golden phoenix statue and Hermione gave Annabeth a quick hug, "I'm waiting here." She then glanced at the statue and said, "Fizzing Whizzbee."
Annabeth watched how the statue stated twirling and a flight of stairs appeared, leading her to a metal door.
A moment passed by after she knocked at the door and Professor McGonagall was the one who opened the door for her.
Annabeth already knew Dumbeldors office, so she wasn't really surprised by the many portraits of former Headmasters that looked at her with curious eyes.
The fire was the only thing that spent light in the dark room and Annabeth's gaze fell onto the Weaselys that stood beside the fireplace, all in their sleeping roabs.
There was silence in the room and her gaze then moved on to Harry, who stood next to Professor McGonagall, completely covered in his sweat.
To her surprise her brother seemed to complete ignore her arriving, seemingly deeply captured by his own thoughts.
"It wasn't like a dream— not an ordinary dream— I was there— I saw— I did it—", the brunette haired boy stumbled over his own words while he tried to explain the seriousness of the situation.
Annabeth gave her brother a concerned look, her voice like a whisper when she addressed him, "Harry, are you well?"
Harry's head snapped towards her , the desperation clearly visible in his eyes, "It's Ron's dad—he's been attacked by a snake!"
Dumbeldor gave Harry a curious look, "In the dream— were you standing next to the victim or looking down at the scene?"
"Neither— It was like I—", Harry hesitated and took a deep breath. "I don't really know— watching from above I think."
Nobody spoke for quiet some time, his words still hanging in the air. Annabeth glanced over at the Weaselys children and realized that all of them seemed to watch Harry closely.
Dumbeldors voice caught her attention again, "Is Arthur seriously injured?"
Harry nodded his head quickly, desperate for them to finally take any kind of action, "Yes—"
Suddenly the professor approached the portraits, "Everhard— Dilys??"
The portraits both gave him a nodd and Dumbeldor went on, "The man has red hair and glasses— Everhard, you will need to raise the alarm, make sure he is found by the right people —"
Both of the men in the portraits moved sideways out of there frame, but neither reappeared in the paintings besides them.
"Everhard and Dilys were two of Hogwarts most celebrated heads— their renown is such that both have portraits hanging in other important wizarding institutions. As they are free or move between their own portraits, they can tell us what may be happening elsewhere —", the headmaster quickly explained to everyone while he faced them again.
"Professor, will you please tell me what's happening?", Harry suddenly questioned the Headmaster, which almost sounded like pleading.
But Dumbeldor was ignoring him, "Pineas, you must go to your portrait at Gimmauld Place. Tell them that Arthur Weasley is gravely injured and his children will be arriving there soon ny Portkey."
Suddenly Everhard reappeared in his Portrait, catching everyone's attention, "I yelled until someone came running — said I heard someone moving downstairs— they weren't sure wether to believe me but went down to check— you know there are no portraits down there to watch from. Anyway they carried him up a few minutes later. He doesn't look good, he's covered in blood, I ran a long to Elfrida Graggs portrait to get a good view a they left—"
Dumbeldor nodded at him, "Good— I take it Dilys will have seen him arrive, then—"
Suddenly the woman reappeared in her portrait, sinking onto her chair, "Yes, they've taken him to St. Mungos Dumbeldor — they carried him past my portrait — he looks bad."
Dumbeldor nodded again her, "Thank you."
Everhard suddenly spoke again, "What's more, the Dark lord failed to acquire it." The man gave Dumbeldor a nodd and the Headmaster nodded back at him in silence.
Suddenly Harry snapped, he titled his head to the side before he started screaming at the Headmaster, "Look at me!—"
Everyone's attention snapped towards Harry, who was panting heavily while he stared at a completely shocked Dumbeldor.
Harry sounded more like a scared child, that desperately needed someone to hug him, "What's happening to me?"
The Headmaster just started at Harry but then there was a flash of flame in the very middle of the office, leaving behind a single golden feather that floated gently towards the floor.
"It is Fawkes's warning — Professor Umbridge must know you're out of your beds. Minerva, go and head her off— tell her any story—"
McGonagall immediately disappeared and Dumbeldor waved for them all to join him. "You've all used a Portkey before?"
They all nodded their heads, each reaching out to touch some part of the kettle that stood on his desk. "Good on the count of three, then, one— two—"
And before Annabeth could count to three the floor underneath her feet disappeared and she was yanked around, banging against the other's around her.
After a moment her feet hit ground again and the kettle clattered to the ground, immediately waking the portraits of Mrs. Black, who started screaming once more.
Annabeth immediately let her gaze wander around, they had arrived in the gloomy basement kitchen of number twelve Grimmauld Place.
Suddenly Sirius appeared in the dark hallway, that was only lit by the fireplace from the kitchen.
His face has his worry written all over it, "What's going on? Phineas Nigellus said Arthur been badly injured—"
Fred was the first to speak up, his voice curious, "Ask Harry—"
"Yeah, I want to hear it for myself —", George immediately agreed, giving Harry a curious glance.
"It was— I had a kind of— vision—", Harry started before he started explaining everything to them, except for the part that he had felt like he was the snake in that scenario.
Everyone stared at them before Fred suddenly questioned Sirius, "Is mum there?"
"She probably doesn't even know what's happened yet", answered Sirius honestly. "The important things was to get you away before Umbridge could interfere. I expect Dumbeldor's letting Molly know now."
"We've got to go to St. Mungos", Ginny immediately exclaimed while she looked around at her brother's. "Sirius, can you lend us a cloak or anything?"
"Hang on, you can't go tearing off to St. Mungos", Sirius said while he gave them a serious look.
Fred gave him a glare before he spat, "Of course we can go to St. Mungos if we want— he's our dad!"
"And how are you going to explain how you knew Arthur was attacked before the hospital let his wife know?", Sirius questioned him with a raised eyebrow.
"What does that matter?", George immediately questioned him.
Sirius was quick to answer the teenager, "It matters because we don't want to draw attention to the fact that Harry is having visions of things that are happening hundreds of miles away." He then appealed to their sanity, "Have you any idea what the Ministry would do make of that information?"
Fred and George looked like they couldn't care less about what the Ministry thought.
"Listen, your dad's been hurt while on duty for the Order and the circumstances are fishy enough without his children knowing about it seconds after it happened, you could seriously damage the Order's—"
"We don't care about the dumb Order!", Fred immediately shouted at him in rage. "It's our dad dying we're taking about!", George immediately piped up as well.
"Your father knew what he was getting into and he won't thank you for messing things up for the Order!", Sirius screamed back at them. "Tis is how it is— this is why you're not in the Order! You don't understand— there are things worth dying for!"
"Easy for you to say— stuck here! I don't see you risking your neck!", Fred shit back at him in anger and Sirius face grew more and more red by the second.
Annabeth believed that he was about to explode and hit Fred into his face, but the man took a deep breath, "I know it's hard, but we've got to stay put, at least until we hear from you're mother, all right?"
Ginny was the first who signed loudly and sunk down into one of the chairs that stood in the living room and everyone mirrored her actions.
Fred and George seemed like they still didn't agree with Sirius, but they joined the other's on the couch while Sirius got them something to drink.
After a moment of complete silence there was a burst of fire midair and everyone let out a shriek before a roll of parchment fell onto the table infront of them, together with a single golden Phoenix feather. "Fawkes."
George immediately ripped the parchment open and ready aloud for everyone to hear, "Dad is still alive— I am setting out for St. Mungos now. Stay where you are. I will send news as soon as I can. Mum."
George's worry had overtaken his face expressions and his voice was low when he said, "Still alive— that sounds as if —"
He didn't need to finish this sentence, it seemed as if Mr. Weasley was hovering somewhere between life and death.
Fred then grabbed the parchment roll out of his brother's hands to read it once more. After he was done his eyes landed on Harry and Annabeth saw how Harry's hands were trembling against his butterbeer glass.
Sirius then appeared beside Annabeth, placing a hand on her shoulder before he spoke, "Harry, Annabeth, can I have a quick word?"
The siblings nodded their heads silently before they followed him out into the hallway.
Harry then told them every little detail of his vision and how the snake attacked Mr. Weasley and how he felt like he was inside of the snake.
The man sighed before he spoke, " Well, I'm sure he would've told you if it was something to worry about."
Harry voice was shaky while he spoke, his voice only above a whisper because he was too afraid that the other's would hear him, "But that's not all— Sirius I think I'm going mad— back in Dumbeldor's office , just before we took the Portkey— for a couple of seconds there I thought I was a snake— I felt like one— my scar really hurt when I was looking at Dumbeldor— I wanted to attack him!"
"It must've been the aftermath of the vision —", Sirius assured him calmly, his face showing his doubts. "You were still thinking about the dream or whatever it was and—"
"It wasn't that — it was like something rose up inside me, like there's a snake inside me", the boy stated and Annabeth gave him a concerned look, the worries inside her only growing more and more.
"You need to sleep Harry — right now your blaming yourself for something you only witnessed and it's lucky you did witness it or Arthur might have died. Just stop worrying!", Sirius stated while he rubbed Harry's shoulder and left the pantry.
Annabeth then immediately pulled Harry into a tight hug, squeezing her brother against her. "Everything will be all right."
She rubbed his back before the two let go of each other and after Harry had thanked her, they went back to the other's.
At around five in the morning the kitchen door suddenly flew open, revealing Mrs. Weasley to them. She was extremely pale, but despite that, she still had a smile on her face when they all looked at her. "He's going to be all right!"
They all exhaled deeply and stood up when she approached them, "He's sleeping. We can all go and see him later. Bill's sitting with him now, he's going to take the morning off work."
Fred immediately sunk down into the chair he had just sat on, his hands covering his face and George and Ginny immediately went to hug their mother tightly while the other's exchanged happy cheering.
