✩‧₊˚ FIRST KISS ──

the day before valentine's day was upon them, a day sebastian had grown to dread. at eighteen, he felt a deep sense of loneliness being single on this romantic holiday. unfortunately, his younger siblings shared similar thoughts about his situation.

"wow, sebby," sean remarked, lounging on the couch. "don't you think it's depressing that you don't have someone for tomorrow?"

"yeah, sebastian," saylor agreed, her pigtails bouncing as she nodded emphatically. "even i have someone, and i'm younger than you."

sebastian looked away from the tv, staring at his sister in disbelief. "you what?"

"yeah, ivan baker from mr. gordon's class," saylor explained, her eyes twinkling with mischief.

"mr. gordon's still teaching?" sebastian asked, astonished. he had never been in mr. gordon's class, but his childhood friends used to place bets on when the old man would retire-or more grimly, die.

"he's not your valentine by choice," sean rolled his eyes. "you bullied him into it."

"i still have one!" saylor shouted triumphantly. "the adult in the room can't say the same!"

"yeah, this is where i go to my room," sebastian muttered, rising from the couch. he could only spend so much time with the twins before going insane.

"probably to jack off," sean whispered to saylor, who giggled.

sebastian almost broke his frail body with how fast he turned around. he scrambled to cover his brother's mouth. "how do you know what that is?" sebastian hissed, eyes wide with alarm.

"you're not denying it," saylor said with a smirk, her eyes dancing with mischief.

sebastian glared at his sister before smacking both of them upside the head. "i'm going to my room to get away from you two fuckasses."

"i'm telling mama," sean pouted, rubbing his head.

"fuck off!" sebastian shouted as he ran up the stairs.

"you're a horrible babysitter!" sean shouted back. "and you still didn't deny it!"

what did he do in his past life to deserve this?

when sebastian made it to his bedroom, he wasn't surprised to see nala sitting on his bed, her legs crossed casually.

"you have to stop coming into my room like this," sebastian said, though he didn't really mean it.

"yet you don't do anything to stop me," nala grinned, her eyes sparkling. "plus, i had to come in to do something."

"that's never a good thing," sebastian said warily, trying to read her expression. nala came closer and took his hands in hers, leading him to the middle of his bedroom.

nala sat down on his bed and pulled something out from under his covers. she held up a nicely made poster reading, "be my valentine, bitch."

sebastian laughed at the poster, walking to the foot of the bed. "what the hell, nala?" he chuckled, shaking his head.

"well, i figured since we're both lonely fucks, we'd be lonely fucks together," nala said, holding the sign closer to sebastian. "so be it, bitch."

"i be it!" sebastian smiled.

nala crawled over to him, pulling him into a tight hug. "yay!" she squealed, bringing him down so they were lying on the bed together. "come over to my room tomorrow after school, and i'll figure something out to do! and wear pink, red, and white!"

sebastian kept his face buried in nala's neck, because if he faced her, she'd see the raging blush on his face.

the next day, sebastian made his way to nala's window, and she all but dragged him into her room.

"you came!" nala grinned, her excitement palpable. "and you followed the dress code too!"

"if i didn't, you'd hurt me," sebastian chuckled, handing her a small bouquet of flowers. "and here."

"oh, flowers," nala smiled, her eyes softening. "you didn't have to."

"i'd be an ass valentine if i didn't get you anything," sebastian said, slightly embarrassed. "they're from my mom's garden."

nala put them down on her desk and went to hug him. "thank you, bubs."

sebastian hugged her back, fighting the blush away.

"what have you got planned today?" sebastian asked, trying his hardest to keep his voice level.

"well, my mom has been dying to cook for you ever since you came back, so we'll have dinner at café zhang," nala explained, her voice filled with excitement. "but before i take you to dinner, i need to take you to the movies, of course."

"of course," sebastian nodded, feeling a bit more relaxed.

"come on, let's go to the living room," nala said, taking his arm and leading him down the two flights of stairs to the living room. nala's younger sister, nicole, stood at the entrance, holding a small notepad.

"tickets, please," nicole said, holding her hand out in a professional manner.

"i got this, babe," nala grinned, dragging her finger along sebastian's arm. she fished out two post-its from the pocket of her dress and handed them to nicole.

nicole inspected them and nodded. sebastian wanted to laugh at how seriously nicole was taking this role, but he was also scared of fifteen-year-old girls, so maybe not.

"right over here," nicole said, pointing to the couch. "your movie will begin shortly."

"why, thank you, nicky," nala said, walking over to the couch, sebastian following.

"i'm sorry, but we just met, ma'am," nicole said blankly. "you do not know me like that, and quite frankly, i don't even know how you know my name."

sebastian watched as nala suppressed a laugh, not wanting to tick off her sister.

"yes, of course," nala bowed her head. "my apologies, miss."

nicole nodded in understanding. she pressed play on whatever movie she had chosen and walked to the armchair next to the pair.

"what movie is this?" sebastian asked, glancing at the screen.

"i have no idea," nala shrugged, settling next to him. "nicky chose."

"shhh," nicole hushed harshly, her eyes narrowing. the two looked over at her. "quiet in the theater!"

"right, sorry," sebastian apologized quickly, feeling slightly embarrassed.

as the movie continued, sebastian recognized it to be the first despicable me movie.

nala leaned her head on his shoulder and wrapped her hands around his arm, and sebastian just wanted to burst into flames. why did she have to be the touchiest person alive? oh my god.

despite his inner turmoil, sebastian was glad nala was like this. it reminded him that she was, in fact, there. she was there with and for him. weirdly enough, it was moments like this that made sebastian forget why he was on hiatus to begin with.

the three of them ended up watching the whole movie series. the last movie ended at the perfect time because just as the credits rolled, mrs. zhang came out of the kitchen.

"dinner's ready, everyone!" she grinned, tugging her apron off. "hurry before it gets cold."

"come on, let's go," nala said. she got up and stretched, groaning as she did so. nicole got up too and walked over to the dining table.

nala stretched out her hand, and sebastian took it with his own. she hauled him up with a grunt. "dinner time now, love," nala winked, her eyes twinkling mischievously.

the two sat down side by side. nicole and nala's older sister, nia, were seated across from them, and nala's parents were at opposite ends of the table.

"how have you been, sebastian?" nia asked, her voice warm.

"i've been good, thank you," sebastian replied as he served himself some of the delicious food mrs. zhang had prepared.

"have you heard from shannon recently?" mr. zhang asked, his eyes kind. "how is she?"

"yeah, i talked to her last night," sebastian answered. "she's doing good. she won't admit it, but i just know she misses me."

"she's just like nicky over here," mrs. zhang smiled, glancing at her youngest daughter. "will never admit that she looked up to her sisters."

"i do not," nicole squeaked, her cheeks flushing.

"sure, nic," nala smirked. "whatever you say."

while the three sisters started to argue, mrs. zhang turned to sebastian.

"are you sure you've taken enough?" mrs. zhang asked, her eyes filled with concern. "that doesn't seem like enough for a growing boy like you. and you've gotten so skinny as well."

"it's enough for me, mrs. zhang," sebastian assured her, smiling. "i promise."

mrs. zhang gave him one last look before going back to her food.

dinner went well. nicole, nala, and nia spent most of the time playfully bickering as sisters do. mrs. zhang kept hovering around sebastian, ensuring he had enough to eat, while mr. zhang tried to enjoy his meal in peace.

after dinner

, nala dragged sebastian up the stairs and into her room to finish off their "valentine's date."

"what are we doing now?" sebastian asked, curious. "we had the movie, then we had dinner. what else happens?"

"we talk, i guess," nala said, her voice thoughtful.

"oh, of course, how could i be so stupid?" sebastian rolled his eyes fondly as he walked into her room.

nala patted the spot next to her. "may the talking begin!"

"you go first," sebastian said, getting comfortable on the bed.

"you go first," nala countered, starting to lift her blanket so she could put it over her lap. "you're the guest."

"fine, fine," sebastian gave in. "i am so grateful that your family decided to move in all those years ago. now i have an annoying pain in the ass following me around everywhere i go."

"aw, that's so sweet," nala gushed, placing her hands above her heart.

"no, but seriously, nala," sebastian added, his tone sincere. "i'm really happy you're my friend. and i'm especially grateful for you during this time. you made this hiatus so much more bearable than i thought it would be. thank you."

nala's skit ended, and she turned to look at sebastian. her features softened at his words. sebastian expected her to respond with words, to express her gratitude back, whether it was a joke or not. what he didn't expect, however, was for nala to grab the back of his head and kiss him right on the lips.

most of the thoughts in his head flew out, although there weren't many to begin with. one of the only thoughts that remained was that wow, she needed chapstick.

the other thoughts came in the form of evil-sebastian.

ah yes, the pity kiss, he sneered. who would actually want to kiss you of all people? let's be honest here.

but then nala pushed him back so she was on top of him, and sebastian couldn't find it in him to care if this was out of pity or not.

after what seemed like hours, nala pulled away, leaving sebastian's lips feeling funny.

"sorry," nala murmured, her voice soft. "i didn't know how to respond to that."

told you, evil-sebastian sneered.

nala started to trace his jawline with her finger. "but i have been waiting to do that ever since i saw you," nala said quietly.

take that, mind-sebastian snapped back.

"uh huh," sebastian nodded dumbly. "do it again, please."

"aw, aren't you needy?" nala smirked, her voice low and quiet.

oh my god, she is so hot, sebastian thought.

the sound that sebastian made at that was so embarrassing. he honest-to-god whined. or maybe it was a whimper. either way, sebastian does not think he can look at his friends the same knowing that they were right this whole time.

"so," nala said. "happy valentine's day?"

"happy valentine's day," sebastian echoed before capturing her lips once again.

the next morning, sebastian was still in nala's room. the sun had barely risen, casting a gentle, golden light across the room. nala was propped up against the headboard of her bed, her head resting on a stack of soft pillows. sebastian lay beside her, practically on top of her, his arms securely wrapped around her waist. his head was nestled against her chest, feeling the steady rhythm of her heartbeat. nala's arm was draped over him, her fingers idly tracing patterns on his bare shoulder, occasionally grazing the scratches she had left the night before.

"sorry about all these marks, by the way," nala said softly, her fingers lightly tracing the red lines on the back of his neck.

sebastian stirred, his eyelids fluttering open. he felt her touch and mumbled sleepily, "it's okay, i'm not on duty."

"so i can do whatever i want until you go back to korea?" nala asked, her voice tinged with playful mischief.

"mhm," sebastian hummed, his voice muffled against her chest. he was barely registering her words, still half-asleep. but as her question sank in, he lifted his head to look at her, his eyes wide and suddenly more alert. "wait, does that make you my girlfriend?"

nala stared at him blankly for a moment. then, with a mischievous glint in her eyes, she pushed him away gently. "i will kick you out through the front door in your shirtless state."

sebastian blinked, momentarily confused. "is that a yes?" he asked, now sitting up on the edge of the bed, his feet dangling off the side. "it was a genuine question; we never really actually confessed or-"

before he could finish, nala's lips pressed against his in a quick, decisive kiss. sebastian's eyes widened in surprise. just as he was about to respond, nala pulled away, her face breaking into a smirk. "only if you want me to be."

"i do, i really, really do," sebastian blurted out, his heart racing. his voice was a mix of relief and eagerness.

"okay, good," nala said with a wide, satisfied grin, clearly pleased with his reaction.

"but i have one last question," sebastian said, a playful glint in his eyes.

"it better not be a stupid question, bash," nala replied, raising an eyebrow and adjusting her position on the bed.

"how did my clothes get in your closet?" sebastian asked, now noticing the hoodie and sweats she was wearing were his. his eyes narrowed in curiosity as he glanced at her clothes.

"i don't know what you're talking about," nala said, feigning innocence. she pulled the comforter up to her chin, hiding her face and trying to suppress a laugh. "it's my stuff."

"sure, babe," sebastian said, his grin widening. he shifted, now hovering over nala, his arms braced on either side of her.

nala brought her hands up to hold his shoulders, her fingers warm against his skin. "babe?" she repeated, arching an eyebrow. "i like the sound of that."

sebastian's smile grew, his heart swelling at her response. "i'm glad you do. because i like the sound of you calling me that."

nala's eyes softened, and she leaned in, her lips brushing against his ear. "well, i guess that means i'll be calling you 'babe' more often."

sebastian chuckled, his heart racing at her closeness. "sounds perfect to me."

they lay there for a while longer, basking in the warmth and comfort of each other's presence, the soft morning light wrapping around them like a cozy blanket. the room was filled with a gentle quiet, only broken by their occasional whispers and shared laughter.

✩‧₊˚ FIRST "I LOVE YOU" ──

sebastian had always been one to seize opportunities, and with his hiatus from work, he found himself with an abundance of free time. this pause in his usual routine became the perfect chance to delve into new hobbies and interests. among the various activities he tried, one that particularly piqued his curiosity was the art of making acrylic nails. he had watched countless tutorials and read numerous articles on the subject. it seemed like an intricate and rewarding challenge.

nala had frequently mentioned her love for acrylic nails, but she often bemoaned their high cost and how it added up over time. sebastian thought that if he could master making them himself, it would not only be a fun project but also a meaningful gift for her. the idea took root in his mind, and he was determined to make it a reality.

the learning curve was steep. sebastian faced a series of trials and errors, with each attempt teaching him something new. there were days when the nails came out uneven, with smudges and imperfections that made him question his abilities. other times, the designs just didn't turn out as he had hoped. but he was persistent. the hours spent experimenting with different techniques and materials gradually paid off. he learned how to sculpt the acrylic properly, create intricate designs, and ensure that the nails were both beautiful and durable.

finally, after weeks of practice and countless iterations, sebastian was satisfied with the result. he had managed to produce a set of acrylic nails that were not only aesthetically pleasing but also reflected his efforts and dedication. the day came when he decided to present his work to nala. he was both excited and nervous, hoping that his gift would be as well-received as he imagined.

when sebastian handed the set of nails to nala, her reaction was immediate and overwhelming. she examined them with wide eyes, taking in the detailed designs and the smooth finish. "oh my god, bash!" she exclaimed, her voice tinged with genuine wonder. "when did you learn how to do this?"

sebastian shrugged, trying to keep his composure despite the butterflies in his stomach. "i had some free time. do you like them?"

"like them?" nala looked up at him, her jaw dropping in disbelief. "i love them."

without a second thought, she set the nails down on his desk and enveloped him in a tight hug. her arms wrapped around him, holding him close as if she wanted to convey just how much she appreciated the gesture.

"god, how did i get so lucky to have you?" nala's voice was muffled against his shoulder. "i love you."

the words hit sebastian like a tidal wave.

i love you.

his mind went completely blank. they had never exchanged such profound words before. though they had been dating for only two months, the weight of the phrase felt substantial. it was a significant moment, not just because of the declaration, but because it was something they had both felt but never explicitly expressed.

sebastian had always harbored feelings of love for nala, feelings that went back to their childhood. he knew she loved him too, but hearing those words out loud made his heart swell in a way he hadn't anticipated. it was a comforting validation of their relationship, a reaffirmation of their feelings for each other.

the intensity of the moment was almost overwhelming. sebastian felt a strange sense of lightness, as though the words had lifted him up and set him adrift in a serene and euphoric state. he wondered if it was normal to feel this way, as if he were a small bird flying over the lush landscapes of hawaii.

"bashie," nala's voice brought him back to reality. she snapped her fingers in front of his face, drawing his attention. "you zoned out. everything okay?"

sebastian blinked, suddenly aware of his surroundings again. "i love you too," he blurted out before he could second-guess himself.

nala's eyes sparkled with amusement. "you love me?"

"yes, i do," sebastian affirmed, a wide grin spreading across his face. "i love you."

the words came easier than he expected, almost as if they had been waiting to be spoken. it felt freeing, and he realized he could say it over and over without any hesitation.

"well, who wouldn't love me?" nala teased, her voice dripping with playful confidence as she crawled onto sebastian's lap.

sebastian's heart raced with a mix of joy and affection. he marveled at how naturally the conversation flowed between them, how the simple expression of love could feel so significant. with nala nestled in his lap and her arms around him, he felt a deep sense of contentment.

"god, i'm so down bad," sebastian thought with a smile, pulling nala closer. the warmth and closeness they shared made everything feel right. as he held her, he couldn't help but feel grateful for the chance to express his feelings and for the love that seemed to grow stronger with each passing day.

✩‧₊˚ FIRST TIME ── the same as his first kiss.
