To start off this chapter I will describe the York boys in memes so we can get a proper feel of they ✨idiocy✨

Edward the Manwhore

George the Chaotic Alcoholic

Richard the Judging "Normal" One

Anyways now that we've got the feel of them, let's actually talk about them. Grasping historical characters and mixing them with their show variants is often VERY hard, but in my opinion it is important to do. TWQ  personalities are often one sided, especially for characters who are meant to be the villains (especially the Lancastrians, but we will talk about them in a different chapter).

Let's start with eldest, the most iconic, the slut, the frat boy ✨Edward✨. The show made him into exactly what I described, a typical party boy with enough charm to convince even a dinosaur to do what he wants. Which was most definitely true, but I think the show missed out on showing the actual trauma and pain he carried.

My man was seventeen. SEVENTEEN when he became king. His brother and father had just died and he didn't even have proper time to mourn them. It's a rare thing for me to see people actually represent this in their books and I definitely think it should be.

Time for my hubby George 😔✊. The irl George was a MESS. A traumatized mess, he witnessed the Rout of Ludford bridge first hand, but a mess nonetheless. There were rumors he was abusive to his wife (there is no confirmation of this but it wouldn't surprise me) and he was most definitely an alcoholic. In the show he isn't as bad. He has the thing I like to call the second son syndrome (see: Viserys Targaryen, son of Aerys and Daemon Targaryen in asoiaf). He's jealous and he's a spoiled mamma's boy. If you're going to write a george fic I definitely suggest going for the show version and even sprucing him up a little (George in Cursed and Queen's Poison is definitely not a healthy partner but toxic relationships are interesting to write)

Try to give him some other personality traits than just a traitor too. My boy is one sassy bitch, I'm surprised he can read most of the time but my head cannon is than he loves hunting and horse riding and whittling, but you can come up with your own head cannons.

Next up is my actual favorite son Richard 😩. Or little lutey as I call him, because in my mind he definitely plays the lute. He's got a musical soul 😪

Richard was a child when his brother and father died, I doubt he even remembers anything about them but I think he still felt an obligation to avenge them (especially with him attacking King Henry in that one episode). He was definitely honor bound and loyal to a fault, and I think that was his downfall eventually.

I definitely think it tore him up inside that he took the throne from Edward's son, but I also think (in the show definitely at least) he definitely thought that his marriage to Eleanor Talbot was a real thing.

Of course you should write the York boys and literally any other character in the show how you interpret them, but these are just my suggestions and what I prefer to see in fics and write in my own books!

Feel free to discuss any of the things I said in the comments! I want to hear your opinions.
