We arrived at the hospital, and a man at the reception greeted us.
"Mr. Randhawa, Mr. Bansal, I've been waiting for you."
Vidharth and I exchanged a curious glance, and I raised an eyebrow at him, silently asking if he knew this stranger. He shook his head, indicating he didn't.
"I'm here to expedite your visit and escort you to the hospital room." The man continued,.
Our suspicions were piqued.
"How do you know why we're here?" Vidharth asked, his tone cautious.
"Miss Ava... I mean, Miss Anisha instructed me to assist you." The man replied.
My mind raced with confusion, but I didn't have time to dwell on it. I was eager to see my sister.
"Ohh!!" I exclaimed, urging him to lead the way.
"Yeah!!" He exclaimed
"Please," I added, and the man led us to the elevator. We followed him to the 7th floor and then to a room further down the hall.
As we approached the room, I heard Anisha's voice, uncertain and confused. "Ahh!! Uhmm! Well!! I am not confirmed too..."
The man opened the door, and we entered. My eyes immediately fell on my little sister, sitting on the bed. I rushed towards her, embracing her in a tight, bone-crushing hug.
"Are you okay?" I asked, my voice trembling with emotion.
"Yeah, I'm fine, bhai..." She nodded, her voice muffled against my chest.
"Where did you go? Did you have any idea how worried we were?" I asked, my voice laced with concern.
My words trailed off, and she broke down in my arms, her body shaking with sobs.
"Bhai... woh..." she managed to utter, her voice cracking.
My heart clenched, and I held her closer, trying to comfort her.
"Shh! Shh! Baccha, I'm here, don't worry... calm down! Okay, I'm here now!" I whispered, stroking her back.
"No need to panic, everything is fine now. Tell me what happened." I tried to reassure her, But she didn't say anything else, just continued crying in my arms.
I realized she wasn't in a state to talk about it, so I decided to drop the topic for the time being. I just held her, letting her cry out her emotions, my heart aching with empathy.
"Bhai, did you get married to Anisha?" my sister asked suddenly, lifting her head from my chest. I was taken aback by her question.
As I looked at the beautiful hazel-brown eyes that had been watching me since I arrived. our gazes met, and She gulped, her eyes darting away, and a stranger spoke up.
"I have the same question too?" he asked, his foreign accent evident.
Vidharth and I exchanged a curious glance.
"Who are you?" we asked in unison.
"He's the one who saved me..." Vritika intervened.
Anisha's eyes narrowed, her gaze fixed on the stranger.
"She had your phone," he explained, his sigh hinting at a longer story.
"Ohh..." Anisha's response was barely audible.
We all stood there, utterly perplexed, awaiting an explanation. Vidharth's confusion was palpable.
"So?" he prompted, his eyes fixed on Anisha.
She took a deep breath before revealing,
"My phone has a tracking system installed. I was drugged in the mansion when I was returning from the grand hall..."
I wasn't entirely surprised. I had suspected something was amiss; Sanya's unusual silence during the wedding had raised my suspicions. I sighed inwardly, acknowledging the complexity of the situation. My life was now a tangled mess, and Anisha had been unwittingly drawn into it.
Vidharth and I exchanged a knowing glance, our eyes communicating the unspoken truth. Anisha was on the right track, but the path ahead would be treacherous.
"You were drugged?" Vidharth asked, his tone laced with concern, and Anisha nodded solemnly.
"Do you remember what happened or anything after that?" I inquired.
She recounted her memories,
"I was heading back to the palace to rest, and then I felt a pinch on my neck - a needle, I think. I called Jarek when I realized what was happening, and the next thing I knew, I was waking up in your room..."
Her words shed some light on the mystery, but I was still plagued by questions. Who was behind this? Why did they do it? Where was Sanya, and did her family know about the kidnapping? And what was Sanya's role in all this? The confusion was suffocating.
Anisha's gaze shifted to Vritika.
"But how did you obtain my phone?" she queried.
"I found a phone lying in the gallery while walking. I thought I'd return it to its owner..." Vritika explained.
Anisha's eyes turned to the stranger.
"How did you find her?" she demanded.
As the conversation paused due to Vritika's condition, my mind was preoccupied with my own thoughts.
Suddenly, I heard the man call out,
"Ava!" and she fainted, her body going limp. He swiftly scooped her up in his arms, his expression tense.
We were all on edge, unsure of what to do next.
"Call the doctor, Matteo," he instructed the other man, who had escorted us to the room.
"Yes, sir!" he replied, and they hastened out of the room. Everything unfolded too quickly for us to react.
Vidharth placed a reassuring hand on my shoulder. "I'll go with them," he assured, and followed the others out of the room, leaving me alone with my thoughts.
"Brother, what she said is true...?" Vritika asked, her eyes wide with disbelief.
I nodded in confirmation.
"It means... it means she... she is your wife now," Vritika stated, her voice laced with shock.
I affirmed with a simple "Yeah."
Vritika's gaze fell on me like I was a fool, her eyes bulging in disbelief.
"And what about Sanya? And why? I thought she would never leave you... She's a proper leech and the biggest villain..." She rattled on like a bullet train, but abruptly stopped when she realized what she was saying.
"We still need to confront the Malhotras," I told her,
"and one more thing - no one knows about this except me, Vidharth, and now you, so keep it quiet for now."
Vritika's curiosity was evident. "But why, Bhai?"
"We need to hear Anisha's opinion too. I'm not the only one tied to this decision." I sighed, Why the hell did she have to be the one to find out now?.. Alas!!
My words seemed to calm Vritika's excitement, and her racing thoughts finally came to a halt.
"Vritu..." Chachu's voice rang out as he entered the room, followed by other family members.
"Baccha... Mera baccha... tu theek toh hai na?" Chachi asked, sitting beside Vritika on the bed.
(Child... My baby... Are you okay?)
I moved towards Chachu and Dad, who were standing nearby. Vritika reassured Chachi,
"Yeah, Maa, I'm fully fine." Chachi embraced her tightly, while Chachu patted her head affectionately.
The doctor entered the room, interrupting the reunion.
"I don't think you should crowd the patient's room." He addressed Chachu, then recognized him.
"Mr. Randhawa! Oh, it's you... I apologize."
Chachu waved his hand dismissively. "No, no, doctor, you're right."
The doctor continued,
"If I may, I'll check on this sweet lady."
"You're absolutely fine, dear. You can go home." After a brief examination, he declared,
"That's great news!" Chachu exclaimed.
"Mr. Randhawa, please come with me to complete the discharge process." The doctor turned to me.
"Sure," I replied, following the doctor out of the room.
"What happened to her, doctor?" I asked, my concern growing.
"She was unconscious and drugged when she arrived here," he explained.
"What kind of drug was it?" I pressed, my mind racing with ominous possibilities.
"Let's discuss this further in my office, Mr. Randhawa," he suggested, leading me to his cabin.
We sat down, and I asked again,
"What kind of drug was it, doctor?"
My palms were sweating, and my heart was racing with foreboding thoughts.
"Methamphetamine," he replied gravely.
"What does it do?" I asked, my voice laced with fear.
"It potentiates the nervous system..." His expression turned even more serious.
"Mr. Randhawa, it's commonly used for sexual assault."
My heart sank, and my mind reeled in disbelief.
'No... no... this can't be true!' I thought, my anger and protective instincts surging.
'I'll rip apart the bastard who tried to harm my sister!'
"But I don't think anything went severely wrong, given her condition when she was admitted," the doctor said, "However, she may be traumatized for a while."
I sighed, feeling a slight reduction in guilt but my anger and determination to act remained unwavering.'I'll make sure that bastard pays for what he's done,' I thought to myself. 'I'll cut him into pieces and throw him in the drain. How dare he try to harm my sister? He needs to know she's not someone to be messed with.'
"Thank you, doctor," I said, shaking his hand. "So, we can take her home now?"
"Yes, Mr. Randhawa," he replied.
After completing the necessary procedures, I instructed everyone to return to the palace while I went to meet Anisha.
My mind was still seething with anger and a sense of protectiveness towards my sister.
Vidharth was sitting there, and those other men were standing nearby. I walked up to them.
"Why did she faint?" I questioned Vidharth.
"The doctor is doing some important tests, and he will tell us once the results come in," the man standing with Anisha uttered.
"Oh!" I exclaimed.
"By the way, can I know who you are?" I inquired the man, curious to know his identity.
"I am Jarek, her cousin, and this is my secretary," he replied.
"Oh, I see. So, can we be more specific here?" I examine, seeking clarification.
"Yes, her mother is my aunt," Jarek confirmed.
Okay, so he's my brother-in-law now, and he also saved my sister.
"Thanks for saving my sister, Jarek," I said gratefully.
"No need to thank me," Jarek replied with a wave of his hand.
I hesitated, curious about the events. "If you don't mind, can you tell me what happened and how you found her?"
Jarek paused, collecting his thoughts, but before he could respond, the doctor and nurse emerged from the cabin.
"You can see her now," the doctor announced.
"What happened to her, doctor?" I asked, my concern evident.
"We'll have to wait for the test results to confirm anything," the doctor replied.
"You can expect the reports in few minutes."
"Okay, thank you, doctor," Jarek said, leading us into the cabin. The other man remained outside.
Anisha remained unconscious, and Jarek sat beside her bed, motioning for us to do the same.
"Thanks," we said in unison.
Jarek began his explanation, "She called me, frantic about being drugged. I tried to reach her as soon as possible, but it took me four hours to trace her location. Initially, it showed your address, but two hours later, it changed to a new location. I realized the tracker was constantly updating, indicating she was on the move. I followed the signal, and eventually, we caught up with a shipping truck. We stopped it and searched the vehicle, but it was empty, except for the phone's signal. We searched thoroughly and discovered a hidden compartment containing multiple girls. We alerted the local police, and I searched for Anisha, but she wasn't there. That's when I saw your sister, Vritika."
He recounted every detail, and my anger surged to a boiling point. I felt my sanity slipping away, consumed by the thought of what could have happened if Anisha's phone hadn't been traced or if Jarek had arrived a moment too late. My self-directed anger burned intense, regretting my absence when my sister needed me most.
Vidharth's gentle hand on my shoulder broke the spell, and I turned to him, my eyes locked on his calming gaze.
"She's fine now," he reassured me, his voice soothing.
I expressed my gratitude to Jarek, my voice filled with emotion. "Thank you," I said, my heart overflowing with appreciation. In that moment, Jarek was a hero, a godsend.
"Anyone in my place would have done the same."
"Is she okay now?" Jarek asked, concern etched on his face.
"Yes, the doctor discharged her already," I replied.
Jarek hesitated, then quired , "Can I ask something else?"
I nodded, anticipating his question.
"Did you two actually get married?" he uttered, his eyes searching for confirmation.
I nodded affirmatively, and Jarek's eyes widened in shock before he sighed. "Did you know she was going to be your bride?" he remarked, his tone laced with disbelief.
I shook my head. "No, I only found out after the vidai in the car. Until then, I thought it was Sanya, but she was quiet, and when I tried to talk to her, I realized it wasn't her but Anisha."
Jarek slapped his forehead, exasperated. "Damn, this is going to be a real mess to sort out!"
I hummed in agreement, knowing he was right.
Jarek's phone rang, and he excused himself, "I need to take this call."
"Sure!" I replied, watching him leave the room.
Vidharth followed suit, saying he had an important call to make, leaving me alone with my wife.
I rose from my seat and walked over to where Jarek had been sitting, settling in beside my wife. I gazed at her serene face, lost in her peaceful slumber. As I was captivated by her beauty, her eyes slowly opened, and she locked gazes with me, her hazel brown eyes sparkling with a hint of recognition.
Here is a polished version of the dialogue with some minor adjustments for clarity and flow:
"What happened? Why am I here?" she asked, confusion etched on her face.
"You fainted in the room," I replied, trying to reassure her.
"Ohh," she murmured, her eyes still hazy.
Just then, Jarek entered the room, and her gaze shifted from mine to his.
"You are awake!" He uttered I couldn't help but feel a pang of regret at his presence.
"Yeah, I'm awake," she said, slowly sitting up.
Vidharth entered the room, concern etched on his face. "Are you feeling better now?" he asked.
"Yeah, I'm fine," she replied, her voice gaining strength.
But Jarek's next words caught me off guard. "We need to go back. It's urgent!" he exclaimed.
My brow furrowed in question.
"Where are you going?"
"Our home, definitely!" Jarek's response was firm.
"But she can't leave! We need to sort out this mess first..." I protested, but they ignored me.
"What happened?" she asked Jarek, her eyes searching for answers.
"It's complicated," he replied, his expression grim.
"How complicated?" she pressed, her voice firm.
"More than I can handle alone," he admitted, his eyes darting to me before returning to hers.
She sighed, resigned. "Let's leave then."
I intervened, my voice firm. "Wait a minute, both of you! Where are you going? You can't just leave without resolving this matter. We need to figure out what's going on here."
She turned to me, her eyes softening. "Is it really that important?" she queried, her tone hinting at a lack of concern.
I was taken aback, my mind racing. Doesn't she care about the situation? What is she thinking?!
"We need to talk, and I think with some privacy..." I said, my voice firm but controlled.
She sighed again, and the men left us alone, sensing the tension.
As soon as they were gone, she turned to me, her eyes flashing with defiance.
"So, what do you want to say?" she asked, her tone daring me to speak my mind.
"Is marriage a joke to you?" I asked, my words laced with frustration. "Do you even care about the significance of this union?"
She counterattacked, her voice rising. "Do you think it's easy to sort out? You're not the only one dealing with the consequences of this situation!"
I took a deep breath, trying to calm the storm brewing inside me. "Well, it may not be easy, but marriage holds a great significance in my family. Divorce is not an option for us. It doesn't matter if I want it or not; we are married now, and you are my wife - legally and rightfully."
Her gaze dropped to her fingers, which were restlessly twirling in her lap. She bit her bottom lip, her expression a mix of emotions.
"I don't know what the future holds for us," she said, her voice laced with uncertainty. "I understand your situation, but nothing is as it seems. There are things you don't know..."
Her gaze met mine, filled with a mix of emotions. I sighed, acknowledging the difficulty of the situation. I placed my hands on hers, cupping them gently. She flinched at first, but I held them tighter, offering comfort.
"I know it's not easy for you, and you're not ready. But what's wrong with giving us a chance? Maybe the outcome will be different from what you expect." I looked into her eyes, caressing the back of her hand.
"Then?" she asked, her voice barely above a whisper.
"Whatever you wish for. I won't force you," I replied, trying to reassure her.
She sighed again, her eyes searching mine. "Can you give me some time to figure this out?"
"Okay," I said, understanding her need for time. "I also need time to set some things right."
Then, out of the blue, she asked, "Will you still accept me if I'm not what I seem to be?"
My brows furrowed in a questioning look, curiosity piqued.
"What do you mean?" I asked, confusion etched on my face.
She hesitated, her eyes searching mine. "Will you still accept me...if you know the truth? I'm being selfish, I know, but I don't want to build hopes only to have them shattered."
I frowned, trying to understand. "What are you saying? What's going on?"
She sighed again, her shoulders sagging. "It's...complicated. My past, it's not simple. And it's not just my past, it's my future too."
I took her hands in mine, trying to reassure her. "I believe everyone has a past, but what matters to me is our future together. Your past doesn't define you, and it won't affect our relationship. I promise."
She looked at me, her eyes filled with a mix of emotions. She sighed again, her gaze dropping. "You will mind, I know...and it will crumble our relationship if we decide to move forward."
I gentled my voice. "If that's the case, then I'll try to understand you and your situation. I'll support you, no matter what."
"Why? We barely know each other!" she exclaimed, her eyes wide with disbelief.
"Because you're my wife now, my better half," I murmured, kissing her knuckles. A deep blush spread across her cheeks, and she quickly withdrew her hands from mine.
"But I need to go," she declared, her eyes avoiding mine.
"Where are you going?" I inquired, feeling a pang of concern.
"I need to discuss everything with my uncle and aunt," she whispered, her voice barely audible.
"Why not your parents?" I queried, curiosity getting the better of me.
"They passed away a long time ago," she revealed, her expression somber.
"I'm so sorry," I offered, my voice filled with empathy.
She waved her hand dismissively. "It's fine."
"Should I accompany you or ask my parents to talk to them?" I suggested, wanting to support her.
But she shook her head.
"No, I need to do this alone."
"I'll consider my decision carefully," she said, her eyes cast downward.
"Take all the time you need, but remember, I can't bear to be apart from my wife for too long," I said, my voice low and persuasive. Her cheeks flushed again, a clear sign that my words were having an impact.
"I'll see what I can do about that," she replied, her voice firm but hinting at a softening resolve.
I handed her the nuptial chain, my eyes locked on hers. "Take this. If you decide to stay, you'll need it."
She raised an eyebrow, a hint of sarcasm in her voice. "So, when will we meet again, husband?"
I smirked, my tone playful.
"Oh, I think we will. Soon."
She shot back, her eyes sparkling with challenge."I haven't agreed to anything yet."
"You will. I'm certain of it." I chuckled, my confidence unwavering.
