you knew you probably shouldn't, but since tsukishima and yamaguchi hadn't returned even after 10 minutes, you got out of the car and decided to inspect the area.

you inched close to the stacks of boxes and cylindrical barrels that caught your eye earlier, and opened up a few of them.

the boxes were normal, just ordinary garden soil in packages. the cylindrical barrels, though, were filled to the brim with oil. you got a whiff of the scent.

that's not oil, it's kerosene.

you were beginning to worry about the fact that tsukishima and yamaguchi hadn't returned yet, but they were professionals, you had to have more faith in them. you put the lid back on the barrel after checking a few more of them.

all kerosene.

you sealed the boxes again and turned to head back to the car since you didn't want to risk getting caught by either the gang or your teammates. they'd think your snooping was incredibly reckless and impulsive, and in fairness, it was. but you couldn't help it when curiosity got the best of you. and besides, what you discovered could've been of use if you were on another mission.

before you reached, you heard the doors of the building burst open and saw multiple agents, including the two in your team, and you practically threw yourself into the drivers seat.

"drive." tsukishima ordered the moment him and yamaguchi were inside.

"i have to warn you, i can't." you said as you turned the keys to turn the car on.

"what?" he asked.

"i can't drive."

"why didn't you say so earlier?" he demanded.

"i did, you just didn't hear me!" you protested.

"you've never driven a car before?" he repeated.

"not unless you count bumper cars." you inputted.

others from inside the building were now approaching, and they didn't look too happy with a bunch of spies waltzing in and out of the building.

"there's no time to switch seats, just drive." he instructed.

"i just told you, i can't dr—"

"think of this as bumper cars." he told you. the two of you locked eyes for a brief moment and you knew then you couldn't fail him. this stranger was putting his trust in you despite not knowing you much longer than a few hours. "go." he stated, and as if on command, you stepped on the accelerator and your hands gripped the steering wheel tightly.

the other spies split up, making it harder for the gang members to chase you or hunt you down, but there were still a few cars hot on your tail.

tsukishima helped, whenever you made a sharp turn, he'd angle the steering wheel correctly so you didn't end up crashing into a wall. it wasn't perfect, though. you still ended up knocking over dustbins on sidewalks as you made your escape.

"woah! this feels like mario kart but in real life! why did no one tell me driving was this much fun!"

"you're destroying everything you drive past, if you weren't an agent you'd be fined for this." tsukishima answered with a tired sigh.

"ah, yes. that's why i haven't driven before." you remembered. "someone told me you're not allowed ram your car into someone else's car if they're too slow. what's the point in driving if you can't drive fast?"

yamaguchi was mostly silent but he let out a soft chuckle when he heard this. you were caught by surprise when your side mirror shattered and let a little help escape your lips. you craned your neck around to see what was going on. "if there's ever a time to drive fast, its now. hurry, clover!" yamaguchi warmed from the backseat.

it was a gun shot, and it didn't stop at one. the car behind you was shooting tirelessly at your vehicle and you were attempting to manoeuvre around to shake them off like you'd done in video games but apparently you needed practice to do that, since the car started heading sideways when you tried pulling off what you did in games.

tsukishima managed to pull the steering wheel and get you back on reach before he smacked your head. "eyes on the road, there's a rear view mirror to look at the back." he gave out, pointing to it.

"ouch, you could've told me that before." you grumbled.

you picked up your speed even more, and made some dangerous turns and only really survived because of tsukishima pulling the steering wheel when necessary. you managed to lose the cars chasing you, but they appeared to be slowing down which was suspicious, but eventually you came to a dead end.

so that was their plan.

"fuck." you cursed.

"t-rex, what's the plan?" yamaguchi asked him.

"we're cornered." tsukishima sighed.

you pulled a disgruntled face. "you two give up easy. i'm surprised you haven't died yet in other missions." you scoffed.

"excuse me?" tsukishima asked, not bothering to hide the offence he felt.

"you two can fight later, if we live. clover, you sounded like you had a plan." yamaguchi intervened.

"it's not really a plan. it's just common sense. both of you, get out of the car and take cover in the shade of that building. the second those gang dudes arrive, i'll drive right into them. that'll cause some damage to both of us, but the rest is a shootout." you explained.

"it's too risky." tsukishima protested.

"listen here, dino boy. would you rather all of us sit in this car waiting to be killed, or we at least try to get out of here alive?"

"she has a point, t-rex." yamaguchi piped up.

the moment tsukishima moved to get out of the car, yamaguchi followed. "will you be okay?" the freckled boy asked.

you flashed him a confident smile. "i've got my seatbelt on. i'll be fine." you insisted. you heard the sound of car wheels approaching and shooed yamaguchi away before rolling up the windows. you'd have to drive on your own now, without tsukishima next to you to save your ass.

you checked your ear piece to try get in contact with the agency, but it seemed to be disconnected. "the signal here is bad huh? what a great place to die." you mumbled.

the moment you noticed the front of a car turning the corner, you stepped on your accelerator and went straight for the car, successfully flipping it to its side. you hit your head pretty hard though, and your vision blurred with tears.

luckily for you, tsukishima and yamaguchi has impeccable aim and any gang member that attempted to get to you was shot down immediately.

they picked up on this and left you alone, a dozen of then rushing to the shade of the building where your teammates were. your head was pounding from the impact, and the sound of gunshots so close to you weren't of any help.

in just the span of 2 minutes, though, everything went silent. you saw both your team members approach the car unharmed, and you beamed from ear to ear. that is, until you caught sight of one last gang member in the rear view mirror, taking aim at tsukishima.

"fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck." you cursed and desperately tried to roll down the car windows or open the door to warn him, but both were jammed.

the gang member wasn't too far away from you. if you could just manage to—

you didn't think this part through. you listened to your gut alone and put the car into reverse and stepped on the accelerator as hard as you could, ramming the car into the man while driving backwards.

his gun flew out of his hands, and he was unconscious on the ground.

you climbed out of the car throttle passenger side and ran to your fellow agents. "are you two okay?"

"you." tsukishima stated, almost accusingly.

"what did i do?"

"you just saved my life."

you chuckled. "the least you could do is sound grateful for it."
