05. it's raining

Maeve was the first to wake up, it was so early the sun wasn't even up. She took advantage of the time to go buy coffee and return to the apartment, Spencer had already woken up for her when she arrived.

— Oh, There you are. — Spencer rubbed at his face trying not to feel exhausted.

— Went to buy coffee. —She had two cups in her hands, obviously one for the guy. He thanked her, loving the smell of the coffee.

Maeve waited for him to say something related to the events of last night, but the boy didn't even seem fazed by it, so she wouldn't bring it up either.

— I'll be in the shower. —She informs to advise that the bathroom would be occupied.

Maeve tried to dress to impress. She wouldn't change her dress that did her best to look as neat as possible. The skinny jeans hugged her body, contrasting with the baggy red shirt she was wearing. The black boots could not be missing as a complement, they gave her a little more height.

She went out to the dining room, arranging her hair in a bun, Derek Morgan being the first in her field of vision, which makes her jump.

—What are you doing here?

—I know Reid doesn't have a car, so I came to make sure you guys got there early.

— I'll go get ready, I don't want Maeve to be late.

Spencer disappeared down the hall leaving those two alone.

— It turns out that you did have clothes of your own, huh. —He says pointing at her outfit.

— I never said I didn't have it, just that it's mostly Spencer's old clothes.

— And what was the night like? Did the boy give trouble?

Maeve came back with the hazy memories of being kissed by Spencer and falling asleep in bed after kissing her.

—A night like any other.—She said.

— Cool.

Within minutes, Reid is dressed and ready to join them.

Derek stops both of their walk before heading out the door.

— Bundle up, it looks like it's going to rain.

Scolding them both, Maeve quickly goes for her trench coat but Spencer insists that his sweater is more than enough.

When Spencer arrives, the first thing he does is go to his desk, he has some old cases to catch up on after his absence, The road has been so quiet that Morgan at some point wanted to ask if something was going on between the two young people but he stayed with the doubt

Maeve was taken to Hotch's office.

Spencer Reid possessed an unpopular image, he seems like the kind of guy that if he were taken to high school he would probably be laughed at, and in the short time that Maeve lived with the boy she wouldn't use the word fuckboy to describe him.

Maeve knows what a one-night stand is, or how a kiss doesn't mean anything, she's done it on multiple occasions, Things that happened one night and were never mentioned. It didn't bother her that she was one of those occasions for Reid, but it was hard for her to believe that the boy was someone like that.

— I will be working over there. — Morgan says pointing to his place, giving Maeve a push towards Hotch's office and she lets out a snort, making the man laugh. — Yell if you need help.

He says goodbye with a kiss on the head of the girl.

If Maeve were to make the team, it would be the right way this time.

— We'll ask you a couple of questions, Maeve. It'll go on record, okay? — Said JJ who was helping Aaron with this.

The girl took a seat and the blonde began with the questions.

—Can you tell us your name and how old are you?— JJ places the recorder in the center of Hotch's desk, beginning it to make a voice record.

— Uhm- Sure. . .Maeve Hunter. Twenty two years.

—Parental relationship?

— Orphaned. —JJ looks at her softening her expression.— I lived in an orphanage for a while, I ran away to the streets at fifteen I think.

—Where does your last name come from then? —It's the first question asked by Hotch..

— Maeve is the given name at the orphanage, Most children usually arrive with a given name, Some of us were just left on our own without even a name to identify us.

Maeve didn't like the idea of talking about her time in that place, it made her feel small, like something humiliating where people stop seeing her with different eyes, start feeling sorry for her, it's not something she likes.

She cleared her throat and kept talking:

— I didn't choose it, I was young enough to even remember when they started calling me that, it just happened.

—That doesn't explain your last name. —Hotch said.

— The nuns at the orphanage said that I was a headache. I ran away on more than one occasion but always came back, I hid in the public library to spend the night, there I read a book about a hunter.— The girl made a dismissive gesture so as not to wander into the subject.— I made all the kids call me that, I guess it became part of my name.

—How about your tech savvy?

— I had a friend when I was a teenager, I learned it in a... street way, I think it can be said.

— García said that you have a natural talent.

— I would not call it like that.

— Over time you have been in different states, is that correct?

— That's right.— She confirms JJ's question this time.

—These are some pictures that we managed to get. —Agent Jareau puts these photographs in front of her, some show her face and others are only seen talking from behind. —Most of these people identify you with a name other than yours. Some local coffee shops claiming to have hired you and not coming back without giving notice, dates claiming to have lost their phones after hanging out with you.

—It's... I needed money. I don't always have a roof over my head so.— She averts her gaze, avoiding eye contact with both of them.

—Is it related to illegal substances?

— Never. I hardly like alcohol.

— What about Misdemeanors?

— Defines misdemeanors.  —Maeve pursed her lips into an awkward smile.

—Giving false identifications, stealing, threats. —Hotch intervened mentioning only some of them.

— oh yes...all of those.

The round of questions continued until later. Maeve was taken to the center of the place when the interrogation ended, to make sure that everyone managed to see her, and they did.

— We have an announcement. — JJ speaks to attract everyone's attention. — She is Maeve Hunter. Some have seen her weeks ago as a criminal agent who was present for a short time, until Doctor Reid was shot. Today we make official the integration of Miss Hunter's team as technical analyst.

It was not official, Maeve had to complete a training service of more than twenty-four hours before entering, and another community service to lighten the load on her file.

Maeve's true identity is something that was kept secret from members of Gideon's inner circle. It's not the kind of information that should be spread by his co-workers, though now Elle and JJ, who seemed to be the only ones for not be aware now they know the true beginning of the girl.

Hotch walks up to the girl after they leave and offers his hand.

—This is a new opportunity, Hunter. It is also to meet you again.— Maeve looks at Hotch's palm outstretched toward her and takes it in a close grip.

Maybe I've misjudged him. She thinks.

— Thanks, Hotchner.

— Technical analyst.? — Morgan arrives from behind as Hotchner walks away, turning Maeve around.— Pretty girl, I thought you'd be with us in the field.

— JJ says that I qualify more for that profile, it is an area that I already know. Plus I have to do fifty hours of service if I want to apply, so I guess I'll be bugging Garcia for fifty hours or however long the service lasts.

The girl just smirked, honestly it was more than she expected. She was given a desk with the rest of the team, she liked the idea of being with Elle. It was a matter of a few hours for a case to reach them, Maeve would be excluded from this one this time, Gideon promising that for the next one she would be part of it, she could not bother Garcia because she was also working on the case even though she was not there. on field. Talking to JJ seemed like a good option, but the girl seemed busy pacing as if she had something better to do.

Maeve spent the day like a puppy eager for the others to arrive, barely amusing herself by arranging the old cases in order of dispatch and then in alphabetical order, she had too much free time. By the time the team arrived, night had already fallen.

The brunette receives everyone with a slight smile, feeling trapped in four walls is exhausting for her, Morgan was the first to approach her, and in the man's tired smile she can see that they have had a more exhausting day than her.

— Sorry for leaving you alone. — He said.

But Maeve lies that she's been doing well, found a way to entertain herself, and socialized with the others at the BAU.

— I can take you home. — Morgan volunteered.

— I'll walk this time.

— Are you sure? — She nods.

It wasn't a bother to Morgan, but Maeve thought she needed her own space after a long day at work. She didn't want to feel like a burden even though she wasn't. Agent Morgan does not put buts or cons to her, knowing that the night was still young and expected that nothing bad would happen to her.

Reid walks past them both, holding his brown leather bag, and glances at them both. The doctor's disheveled hair, ill-fitting glasses reveal that it hasn't been exactly a good day, Maeve had seen Spencer arrive tired from time to time, but not like today.

— Do you want a ride, Pretty boy?

— I wanna walk. — This one smiles at him in a tender but exhausted way.— I've got things to think about.

Morgan patted both young adults on the back and took a different course from them. When Spencer leaves, he can see how Maeve is next to him in the elevator and the same as the exit of the building.

The boy doesn't mind silence so he doesn't start a conversation at all and Maeve is dying to talk but doesn't want to be the one to start the conversation. They both look at each other as they stand on the sidewalk across the street, knowing that each other's apartment is on opposite ends, Maeve just takes her hand out of her coat to wave goodbye and Spencer does the same.

The new analyst continues on her way with her eyes forward, mentally scolding herself for wanting to mention how Spencer would be buying a pizza for both of them and taking it to her apartment and her sitting on the kitchen table asking what kind of things they have done today at the BAU.

Maeve walks around the corner cursing and swearing to kill herself and mentions the name Spencer Reid tonight once more in her head.

She arrives at the apartment thinking about this new routine, or at least the fact that she has a routine now. It feels so strange to have a job for her now, it's not something she would have dreamed of and allowed herself to imagine.

— Maybe I finally have a dog. —She said out loud to herself when she saw that no one was waiting for her at home.

Maeve has always wanted a pet, specifically a dog, but for someone homeless who ran away night after night, it wouldn't be a responsible thing to do.

But she could finally give an animal a decent life if she wanted to.

The street looked wet as if it had been raining before, Maeve walks down the small steps of the building, meeting Spencer's gaze. he seemed to have been standing there for quite some time, for the cold breeze had soaked his glasses and that was the first thing Maeve noticed.

— I go home.— She says to Spencer.

— No.

Maeve looks at him in confusion. The boy takes steps towards her and when he is close enough, Maeve notices a change in the atmosphere, they were not outside the BAU but in Spencer's apartment.

The boy's hands clung to her waist, making her knees shake forcing her to fall onto the bed. Spencer has his face pressed against Maeve's but he wasn't looking into her eyes, he was looking at her lips.

— Please tell me that I can kiss you. — Spencer begged in a desperate murmur swinging over her.

Maeve doesn't respond with words but does it the same way she did the night before, crushing her lips with Spencer's. It wasn't as desperate as at that moment, it was as soft and careful as when he noticed Maeve's mouth was bleeding. This time it is the girl who moves away in search of an answer in his eyes, confirming that her actions were correct.

Spencer seemed to understand what those glazed eyes meant. In a sweeping motion he grabs Maeve by the hips and makes her sit on his lap. Spencer's hands were cold when they touched Maeve's face, he caressed Maeve's cheeks with his thumb, making her let out a sigh, he decides to bring their lips together again, resuming the kiss, while holding Maeve's neck where they later went sliding his kisses in that direction, the girl blinked trying to keep her mind focused and not wanting to close her eyes.

Spencer's lips were falling until they reached her clavicle. When Spencer pulls his lips away from Maeve's body, she lets out a disappointed sigh, but the boy resumes kissing behind her ear. Maeve was overwhelmed by the situation when a moan tore from her lips.

Spencer. — She was trying to swallow her words but her mouth only opened in despair. — Fuck, Reid.

She looks into his eyes, her lips as he pulls away, Spencer uses his own hand to lick his fingers and then brush them over the fabric of the girl's underwear, Maeve's mouth was open trying not to complain, but she put her eyes rolled  the more he exerted pressure on the circle he drew on her body.

— You want me to stop?

She almost whimpered imagining his hands moving away.

The girl rubs her eyes to see how the rain looks outside the window, picks up the phone from her nightstand 11:15 p.m

She tries to stand up when she feels moisture on her legs and that's when she realizes what she just dreamed. She doesn't remember going to bed, she probably fell asleep without planning it, but what she didn't plan on was getting wet from a few kisses on her neck that weren't even real.

She scratched her neck trying to get rid of the idea, and goes to the kitchen for a glass of water.

— It's what you get for kissing the BAU nerd. . .

Maeve sat on the counter as she calmly drank her water. It was a dream after all, it meant nothing.

She shifted her feet, floating in place as she thought to Spencer: Is he awake? Could he have dreamed the same?

After a few seconds, she was able to react and realize that they were not connected, so there would be no way that they had dreamed the same thing.

There was a sharp knock on Maeve's apartment door, which made her jump a little instead.

She doesn't answer and the same rough knuckles knock on the door again.

— Hunter. — She knows the voice.

— I almost peed,  you idiot. — Maeve says as she opens the door and lets Morgan in.— You scared me.

— Were you asleep?—He questions seeing her wearing wolverine pajamas, Maeve squeezes her legs in embarrassment.— It is early. — He drops some fast food bags on the counter.

— What is all that for?

— For dinner, duh.  — She raises an eyebrow for an answer.— It's hard to be the new one sometimes...I was the new one a long time ago. — Morgan rubs his face tiredly letting out a sigh.— A good partner is always good, I went home to try not to feel tired, it was a long day. and I was encouraged to see a message from Garcia, we texted for a while and I remembered that my friends are an essential part of being here every day, Then I thought...''Hunter doesn't have a Garcia in her life.'' and when I came before I knew it, I was putting my jacket back on and buying cheeseburgers.

Maeve was listening intently, a sheepish smile tugging at her lips. Morgan has done nothing more than give her her support without her even asking or deserving it.

— Corny.

Not knowing how to respond to flattery and/or praise Maeve always, and a sarcastic comment or joke was her way of saying I love you.

— I expected a 'Thank you Morgan, you are my hero, I will protect you with my life now.' —He replies sarcastically

—Thanks Morgan, I love burgers. Pretty close. — MMaeve goes to the bags and tries to pull out a burger but Morgan smacks her hand.

— Don't be rude, you have to wait for García.

— García?

— She has given me the idea. I thought I would be the last to come since I went to get the food, but she went to find Reid at home.

— Spencer is coming!?

— Yes. Elle won't come she says she's not fee- Hey, where are you going?— He asks when he sees how she went to the bathroom.

— I'm going to take a shower !
