RIVER

River was at the bar with her arms crossed in front of her with her head resting on them, Vander was wiping down the counter and spared her a glance. River flinched and quickly turned her head when she felt a tap on her shoulder, once she saw Vi she relaxed "come on" was all Vi said.

River looked at her confused when she saw the others following "where we going?" River asked Vi curiously "it's where are we going. speak normal" Mylo corrected her loudly with a smirk "I will punch you in the throat" River threatens before falling into step with Vi.

"so?" she cocked her head, Vi simply shrugged and smirked "bout time you have your first job" Vi tells her. River lit up, she'd been begging Vi to let her come on a job, she hated feeling so useless "seriously" "seriously." Vi repeated.

"try to catch up" was all Vi said before bolting off, climbing up a pipe onto the roof, then jumping from roof to roof. Everyone else quickly followed, River as well.

River followed the actions of Vi, no one knew but agility was Rivers strength. There was nothing she loved more than the adrenaline rush of being in the air as she jumped from a high distance. River quickly caught up to Vi but still stayed behind her because she didn't know where they were going.

When River stopped abruptly along with Vi, Powder skidded to a holt and accidentally ran into Rivers back, making her lose balance and almost fall off the roof but Vi quickly grabbed her hoodie and pulled her back up "careful" Vi told Powder "sorry" Powder sheepishly said.

River narrowed her eyes at Powder as she put both hands on Powder shoulders and moved her to stand to her side instead of behind her. Vi motioned for everyone to be quiet before she jumped off the roof, sneaked behind a wall, peaking her head through before finding a back door and motioning for the rest to follow.

River and Mylo followed first then Claggor and Powder. Mylo pulled out a little contraption and began to pick the lock, Powder staying close to River and Vi the entire time. Mylo finally got the door open and Vi went in first as Claggor handed River a brown bag.

"grab anything that looks valuable" Vi tells her as they all go there seperate ways. It was a small house that was messy and had shattered glass and ripped up curtains to cover the few windows there was. River walked into a bedroom. She had found a needle & thread, yellow, purple and black paints and she found two matching bracelets that had a thin leather string, one bracelet had a half of a heart charm with the sun and the other had the other half of the heart and a moon charm.

River put the bracelets in her pocket and continued to look around the room and house until she'd found enough stuff. She met everyone back at the door seeing they'd gotten enough as well.

Just as everyone was about to leave a large man opened the door, as soon as he saw the kids he growled and went to attack straight away. Vi punched him in the face and then pushed him out of the way before shouting at everyone to run.

They all quickly bolted the way they came but saw that the same man was chasing them along with three other men. Powder must have gotten distracted looking back at them in worry that her foot slipped off the roof and she fell into an ally that was a dead end. Rivers eyes widened "shit"

River quickly jumped down and grabbed Powders arm but before they could run away again they all cornered the two young girls. A short skinny man bolted at River with floppy raised fists. River knelt down and sweeped his feet before punching him in the head hard enough he got knocked out.

River knew she could only did that because she was almost taller than him and he had horrible form. She had no chance with the big guy so she was glad when Vi and the others jumped down. Quickly a fight had broke out, River saw a man coming for Powder so she quickly jumped in front of her and punched his nose.

The man groaned but sent a harsh punch to her jaw that ended up giving her a cut from his spiky ring. River paid no mind and sent multiple fast punches his way leaving him shocked, he went to attack River again but stopped when he saw his friends running away from them which he soon followed.

Everyone quickly made their way back to the last drop, they were all now sitting on the couches with their bags of stolen goods on the table in front of them.

Vander had given River a rag to stop the bleeding of her cut, Powder was sitting next to River worried about the cut on her jaw "sorry your first job wasn't that good River" Claggor said to her, River looked at him in confusion "what? that was amazing, I finally got to punch someone for real, plus, did you see the way that fat dude ran" River chuckled.

The rest laughed along with her "yeah he looked like a fish who was tryna flop back into water" Mylo laughed. "I'd say that it was pretty good but of course Powder had to ruin it" Mylo rolled his eyes, River scrunched her face up as Powder held her knees to her chest with an upset expression on her face.

"Powder didn't ruin it Mylo" Vi defended her little sister "yes she did, if she was better at jumping her foot wouldn't of slipped" Mylo argued, River scoffed and leaned her shoulder against Powders "Powders foot slipped once, I saw yours slip at least ten times and I also saw that Claggor had to save you from falling So shut up Mylo" River defended her friend.

Mylo scoffed with a flustered expression "yeah but I wasn't the one who actually fell" Mylo attempted to defend himself "yeah because Claggor saved your ass!" River said "you know what Mylo, if anyone is ruining anything it's you. We were having a good moment until you had to open your mouth" Vi yelled at him which made him quickly shut up.

Throughout the chaos, River hadn't noticed that Powder had left. River got up and went into there shared room. Seeing Powder in a ball on Rivers bed. River sat next to Powder causing a dip in the bed. River ran her hand over Powders blue braid causing Powder to look at her with teary eyes.

"don't listen to Mylo, he just doesn't know when to shut up" River comforted "but he's right. Every job we go on it always ends up being messed up because of me."

River shook her head in disagreement "that's not true, mistakes happen. It wasn't your fault and no one got seriously hurt" River had no idea how to comfort people well. She was trying her best but she honestly just felt like she was just saying words. Powder looked at River and sniffled "thanks"

"look what I found us" River said to Powder as she pulled out the two matching bracelets. Powder instantly smiled "for us?" repeated, River nodded her head "which one you want?" River asked her as she held the two bracelets up "this one" Powder took the one with the moon on it.

River watched as she attempted to tie the bracelet on her wrist but failed "here" River said as she gently tied the leather on her wrist tight enough so it wouldn't fall off or anything. Powder then helped River with the same thing "thank you" Powder said gratefully before pulling River in a tight hug.

"Is your jaw ok?" Powder asked with worried eyes "yeah it's fine, don't worry" River shrugged it off. To be honest she wasn't sure exactly how bad it was in the first place.. but she felt fine so she assumed it looked fine as well.

River watched as Powder inspected it for a moment before she left and grabbed a metal tin under the bin. She opened it up to reveal bandaids. Any sort of medical supplies were really hard to come by so every who grew up in the under city were used to getting no medical attention and simply just letting time heal there wounds.

Not surprisingly enough, that was the reason of so many deaths. They would get hurt, there was no where to go to ensure the wound would heal properly, it would get infected and they would end up getting really sick.

Powder grabbed a bandaid and grabbed Rivers cheek and moved it to the left before gently putting the bandaid over the cut. Luckily it had stopped bleeding and started to scab over a bit. River dropped her head "thanks" she whispered. She had no idea why, but Powder being worried about a small cut and insisting on helping her, made her hurt.

Maybe it was because she never had that growing up. Every time River got hurt her parents wouldn't even notice and Rio would tell her to be a big girl and suck it up. River was glad though, it made her strong.

"what happened to you.. the day that Vander found you?" Powder asked hesitantly, River debated even telling Powder. But... River knew about what happened to Powder and Vi so she thought it was fair enough, plus, River trusted Powder enough to hope that she wouldn't judge her or blab to everyone.

River took in a sharp breath and looked to her lap, playing with the ends of her hoodie. "Enforcers came to my house, they couldn't find the culprits of people who stole from the top side so they decided to put the blame on us." River started tearing up, she cleared her throat. Trying to get rid of the shakiness in her voice.

"they shot at my parents and my brother Rio, they left me though." River paused for a moment, not daring to look at Powder. She couldn't bare it. "he told me that he was going to leave me alive... as a reminder that if I stole from them, I would have the same outcome as my family..."

River hadn't noticed but tears started rolling down her cheeks. She finally looked at Powder. Powders eyes were full of sympathy, Powder understood all too well. Powder knew that River didn't want to hear her saying that she was sorry. Why would she say sorry about something that she couldn't help?

Powder brought River into a tight hug, River hugged back almost immediately. Her head rested on Powders shoulder with her eyes closed. River never was someone who really enjoyed physical touch, but Powder was her best friend so it was ok.

"Thank you Powder"

Sevika and Rivers relationship because it's going be important in the near future and I want you to know the back story behind them!
