FRIDAY, DECEMBER 16th 1977

The day has come where we all have to go back to our families for Christmas break and instead of packing like I should be, or should have already, I'm in bed. Remus is laying with his head on my chest and I am lightly petting his hair with a happy smile on my face.

"You're so small and cute like this, Rem" I coo.

"I'm older than you" He reminds me.

"What a big softie" I tease him "Like a teddy bear"

"I'm like a whole foot taller than you, cub" He stresses.

"Tiny little pup" I hum, scratching his scalp lightly.

"I could knock you out with one punch" He declares, looking up at me.

"You're so cute" I grin widely.

"I hate you" He grumbles.

"Whatever you say, pup" I chirp.

"Shut up" He groans.

"Make me" I counter.

"Gladly" He retorts, leaning up and pressing our lips together.

As our lips part, I hold his scarred face in my palms and he nudges my nose with his own, smiling warmly.

"Remus" I mumble.

"Yeah?" He murmurs.

"I am so in love with you" I admit and his smile widens.

"Evangeline" He grins.

"Yeah?" I breathe out.

"I am so fucking in love with you" He responds.

I smile so widely that it physically hurts my face and the Lupin boy pecks my lips sweetly before pressing kisses to my nose, forehead and cheeks.

"I've never loved anyone the way that I love you" He adds.

I open my mouth to reply to his confession but I am rudely interrupted by the dorm room door swinging open to reveal Sirius, James and Peter.

"Again?" James groans, covering his eyes dramatically.

"You two are like bloody rabbits" Sirius snorts.

"You fucking arseholes ruin everything" I snap in annoyance, sitting up and throwing a pillow at them.

The pillow hits James and he yelps in fright, uncovering his eyes to see the pillow on the ground at his feet.

"Did we interrupt something?" Peter asks sheepishly.

"Yeah, Pete. You did" Remus grumbles, dropping his head onto my shoulder.

"Well, it's been interrupted now- whatever it was- so get your arses up. It's almost time" Sirius declares loudly before ushering Peter and James out of the room.

"Almost time?" I question in confusion.

"Did you think we'd all just go home for Christmas break without a surprise?" Remus smirks softly as he sits up.

"What have you lunatics planned?" I groan.

"It'll be fun. I promise" Remus assures me.

"I'll take your word for it, Lupin" I sigh unconvincingly, pulling myself out of bed.

I feel a sharp sting on my arse, causing me to yelp and spin around to see a smirking Remus looking back at me.

"Ouch" I pout childishly.

"Want me to kiss it better, darlin'?" He teases.

I nod at him and he raises a brow, but grins nonetheless as he reaches out and grips onto my hips. He tugs me back over to him and lifts up his sweater that I'm wearing, pressing his lips to the very obvious red hand mark on my arse.

"Better?" He smiles up at me, rubbing small circles on my hips with his thumbs.

"Mmhm" I nod with an amused grin.

I gather up my clothes as Remus changes and packs the rest of his bags. Once he's ready, we apparate to my dorm and instead of finding the huge mess that I left here last night after a breakdown, I find my trunk packed and an outfit neatly placed out on my bed.

"Well, aren't you extra prepared?" Remus chuckles.

"I'm not actually" I smile warmly at the trunk "I left this place a pigsty last night"

"Looks spotless to me" He counters.

"Pandora" I state.

"What makes you say that?" He asks curiously.

"Just solely on the fact that this skirt is the only pink item I own and she loves it. Plus if I open this trunk-" I explain, popping my trunk open to reveal a handwritten note along with a small bag of lavender.

i packed for you! just relax and take deep breaths :)

dora <3

"Lavender?" Remus questions.

"Makes the trunk and clothes smell nice" I elaborate.

"She's a good friend" He smiles softly, wrapping his arms around me.

"The best" I agree.

I quickly get changed into the outfit laid out, deciding to swap the white cardigan for the dark navy sweatshirt of Remus' that I'm already wearing and tucking it into the pale pink pleated tennis skirt before slipping on black lace up boots. After closing up my trunk and placing it with the other girls', I brush my hair into a messy ponytail.

Remus leads me up to the astronomy tower where the other three marauders are waiting for us with mischievous grins.

"Ready, boys?" James smirks.

"Ready" Remus, Sirius and Peter answer.

"Light 'em up!" Sirius hollers.

Without much warning, they set off fireworks and I look at them in pure disbelief as the sky sparks with huge bursts of colour.

"Are you boys insane?!" I shriek.

"Like a wise man once said, yes" Sirius answers.

"And who said that?!" I question him.

"I don't know, but someone is bound to have said it!" He argues.

"You idiotic toerags are going to get yourselves expelled!" Lily shouts angrily as she bursts into the room.

"What she said!" I agree, pointing at Lily.

I look out just in time to see the sky flash with the words 'Happy Holidays, Folks! -M' and I glance at the people I'm stood with, a small smile on my face. Sirius and Peter are grinning widely at the fireworks, nudging each other and chuckling to themselves while James is getting lectured by Lily and Remus is smiling right back at me.

"How you feeling, princess?" Regulus asks curiously as the train nears the King's Cross Station.

"I'm fine" I mumble, my eyes trained on my lap absentmindedly.

"Bullshit" Regulus scoffs and I look up at him.

"I am fine, Reg" I repeat.

"We went past that field of cows that you've personally named one by one and you didn't say a thing about how cute they are" Regulus accuses.

I let out a sigh and glance out the window as the train comes to a stop in the station, a big crowd of families waiting to take their children home for the holidays.

"I have a really bad feeling" I admit, looking back at him "Something bad is gonna happen. I just know it"

Before he can reply, there is a knock on the window and we turn our heads to see a smiling Narcissa Malfoy waving at us. I smile back at her, so very relieved to see her cheery face.

Regulus and I grab our trunks before exiting the train, immediately being greeted by Narcissa who wraps her arms around us tightly. We hug her back tightly and I peck her cheek as we part, noticing my brother and parents with Walburga and Orion. Narcissa ushers us over to them and we're greeted a lot less fondly by the adults, the four of them merely nodding at us. Lucius pinches my cheek with a slight smile and I grin at him, truly having missed my brother.

"There is the ungrateful little blood traitor" Walburga hisses in distaste.

I turn my head to see Sirius laughing loudly at James as he tries to balance his wand on his head, Remus rolling his eyes at the pair and Peter smiling as he watches the Potter boy goof around. The tallest of the bunch feels eyes on him and he turns his head, his eyes meeting my own. He smiles at me warmly and the eyes burning into my head stop me from smiling back.

"Why is his friend smiling at you, Evangeline?" My father questions me as I turn back to the adults.

"I don't know" I lie.

"He's just obnoxiously friendly" Regulus speaks up.

"He wants to be everyone's friend, you know?" I add.

"Disgusting" Walburga grimaces.

"Yeah" I sigh, physically restraining myself from glancing back at the boy.
