Chapter Four:

" The Truth Behind Robin's Betrayal "

(NO POV)

"Robin, I finally found you!" Luffy exclaimed. "Luffy! Where the Hell have you been!? And where's Pinky!?" Zoro barked. "Robin! Why'd you leave us!?" Chopper cried. Nami looked over and saw Isaac on the ground. "Isaac!" She rushed to his side, "Isaac, are you okay!? What's going on!? What happened to you!?" Isaac coughed, "Don't worry, I'll be fine..." Zoro turned his head and saw Isaac being held by Nami. "Pinky!?" He gasped. Isaac looked at him with a serious expression. "I said I'll be fine! We gotta focus on the task at hand." He said, dismissing his obvious injuries and rising to his feet. "This whole thing was an inside job. They're not just any old group of shipwrights, they're a part of the World Government! And what's more, the one with the shaved head and the dead look in their eyes, they're a witch like me." He explained. 

Lucci looked over at Paulie, who stood next to Luffy in shock, "Hate to say it, but the Sky Boy's right. We've been undercover this whole time. But, hey, you'll forgive me if I say I'm sorry, right? After all, we were fellow shipwrights who built ships together from dawn til dusk. But I suppose if you don't believe me, I can prove it to you by smashing Iceburg's face." 

"SHUT THE HELL UP! I've heard enough! You were the same voice as the guy in the bull mask. It was the first time I'd ever heard your voice! Dammit, you bastard! You can talk just fine! I'll teach you to make fun of me!" Paulie charged at Lucci to attack him, and Iceburg shouted at him to stop. Lucci was able to easily dodge and used his finger pistol to stab Paulie in the chest. "You still haven't learned your lesson, Paulie?" Lucci removed his bloodied finger, and Paulie began stumbling. "Hey, are you okay!?" Luffy asked with concern. 

Paulie huffed and puffed, "Screw you...Lucci!" 

"It's pointless to resist. Our abilities far surpass those of a normal human, as you can see. After years of training, we've mastered the techniques known as the 'Six Powers'. Once one masters them, they obtain the strength of over 100 men." Lucci explained. Paulie came back to his feet, "Why...? After all this time..." Lucci grabbed him by the shoulder, "Sorry, Paulie, but our friendship is over." Just as Lucci was about to finish the job, Luffy intervened. "YOU JERK! LEAVE HIM ALONE!" He went to kick him, but Lucci caught his foot. Luffy pulled back and went to use 'Gum-Gum Gatling', but Lucci deflected it using 'Iron Body'.

"What the? That didn't work at all!"

Lucci then used his 'Shave' technique, quickly disappearing then reappearing before attempting to stab Luffy in the throat with another 'Finger Pistol', but since he was rubber, it only sent him backwards, causing him to cough. "If you weren't made of rubber, you'd be dead with a hole in your neck. Lucky you." Lucci commented. Luffy stretched his arm out, pulling Paulie's body towards him. Thankfully, he was still breathing. "Why are you protecting him?" Lucci asked. "Why not!? Because I don't want you to kill him! You were all friends just the other day, how could you do this!?" 

"We were, up until now. That is no longer the case." 

"It doesn't matter, say what you want! You're a bunch of traitors! I made a promise with Paulie that I'd beat the crap out of anyone who tries to hurt Icepops!"

"I see. You decided to trust him over us, huh?"

"Yeah! And because you took away one of my friends! Hey, Robin! What gives? Why are you acting like this? If you wanna leave the crew, at least tell me why!" 

"And why would you want to team up with the government!? That's crazy!" Nami interjected. Robin glared at them, "Do I have to repeat myself? I believe I said my farewells to the cook and the doctor before I left. You passed the message along, didn't you Chopper?" She said. "Yeah, but just because I heard it doesn't mean I accept it! Why would you do this!?" Chopper cried. 

"To make my wish come true. A wish that can't happen as long as we're together. If you can't accept that, I'm sorry. It may not seem fair, but to accomplish my goal I'll make any sacrifice needed."

Zoro crossed his arms, "I see. That includes framing your crewmates for attempted murder. So what is this wish of yours?" "I don't need to answer that question," Robin replied. 

"Are you out of your mind!? Wake up, Robin! You have no right to do this!" Iceburg shouted through a strained voice. "I don't care what it is you're trying to accomplish, the consequences are far too great!" He scolded. "I've heard enough! This is not your choice to make!" Robin retorted before using her power to sprout arms from Iceburg's body, choking him. "No, Iceburg!" Paulie cried.  "Nothing you're doing is making any sense! You expect me to believe this!?" Luffy shouted at Robin. 

"What happened, Robin!? You're our friend, aren't you? Please, come back!" Chopper cried, but his cries were met with silence. Lucci stepped in front of Robin, "Sorry to break up the reunion but I'll have to stop you there. You see, we have a date with a very important person, one that's been four years in the making. We're finished here, meaning we're also finished with you." He turned his head to Kalifa, "How much time is left, Kalifa?" 

"Two minutes."

Lucci hummed in response, "Now, in about two minutes, the entire building will be set ablaze."

"WHAT!?"

"After all, fire is an effective tool in destroying evidence. If you don't want to burn to death, then I suggest you leave immediately. That is, I'd be saying that if I had any intention of letting you go." Lucci said. "Looks like they intend to kill us, and it's very clear now that Robin's picked her side. Luffy, Robin's not one of us anymore, do you accept that?" Zoro asked. Luffy gritted his teeth, "NO WAY!"

"The first few floors will burst into flames any second now. Not very pretty, but then again, the culprits are pirates. You can't expect them to be neat about it." Lucci said. Robin put her hood over her head, "I'll be taking my leave now." Lucci nodded, "You've completed your job. Good work." 

"Robin, don't go! You're still one of us!" Luffy shouted.

"This is farewell." She replied. 

Luffy tried to run through the members of CP9 to get to Robin and kick Blueno, but Blueno stopped him with Iron Body. "How come none of my hits affect you!?" Luffy growled. "Not only are our offenses well built, but our defenses as well. Not to mention your punches are weak to begin with." Blueno said. "Whatever! I said outta my way!" Luffy went to throw several punches at Blueno. 

"Paper Art." 

Blueno was swift, dodging every one of Luffy's attacks. "Wow, for a big guy, he's really fast!" Chopper exclaimed. Luffy then realized Robin was getting away and stopped before going for a Gum-Gum Pistol, only for Blueno to dodge using the 'Shave' technique. He then used 'Moonwalk' to hover himself before Kaku and Kalifa both kicked Luffy, "TEMPEST KICK!"

Zoro's eyes widen before shouting at Isaac, Nami, and Chopper, "Quick, get down!" They all ducked as Luffy went flying, and parts of the ceiling above them broke. Zoro went to attack Kaku, but he blocked it with a blade of his own. "We met back on your ship, didn't we, Roronoa?" 

"You guys said you weren't real shipwright...So does that mean you lied about the Merry, too?" Zoro asked. "Unfortunately, not. I was quite honest about my assessment." "That's sucks to hear." As Kaku and Zoro crossed swords, Luffy stood up. "Robin! Don't go! We're not done talking!"

Robin turned her head. "No, it's over. You'll never see me again." 

"Robin!" Nami and Isaac shouted. Zoro broke Kaku's blades and then shouted, "Luffy! Go after Robin! No matter what happens, don't let her get away!" Luffy immediately went after Robin. "Confident, eh? You really shouldn't take your eyes off me, Roronoa." Kaku said. He then used Finger Pistol to pierce Zoro's chest three times. "ZORO!" Chopper cried. Before Luffy could reach Robin, Lucci grabbed him by his face. "I have him, now go, Nico Robin." Without another word, Robin was gone. 

Lucci then threw Luffy hard to the side. "How can they be so strong?" Nami asked worriedly. "I knew you were tough, but this is too much," Paulie said. "We're not like you. For many years, we've trained to surpass human limits and risk our lives for the government. The results of our training are the mastery of the Six Powers. Now I'm sure you know why the five of us are the government's most elite agents." Lucci explained. "You must now also realize how weak a group of pirates like you are in comparison. Of course, the full extent of our power is classified. It's not a matter that people like you can get involved with."

"Lucci, we should hurry. The igniters are about to go off." Kalifa warned. "Let me show you something interesting before we go." Lucci's body then began to change and enlarge until he was in the form of an anthropomorphic leopard. "He has a Devil Fruit power!" Isaac exclaimed. "I ate the Cat-Cat Fruit: Model, Leopard," Lucci replied. 

Isaac could smell smoke, "Shit, the fire's spreading!" He hissed. "Leopard, human, I don't care what you are. You won't lay a finger on Iceburg!" Paulie shouted. "He's a carnivore zoan type! They're the most brutal of them all!" Chopper exclaimed. "Now, we must dispose of all of you before we leave," Lucci said. "Tempest Kick!" 

The ceiling then began collapsing, and chunks of the building fell, separating the crew from Chopper. "Chopper!" Nami cried. Paulie ran and picked up Iceburg, "I'll get you out of here, Iceburg!" The five CP9 agents stopped him in his tracks: "I'm afraid we can't let you do that." Kalifa said. "Get out of my way!" Paulie retorted. Lucci went to attack Paulie only for Luffy to charge at him, "TALKING PIGEON JERK!" Lucci then stabbed his chest with a clawed Finger Pistol. He then picked up Luffy and threw him through the wall, sending him flying far. "Have a nice flight!"

"You bastard!" Zoro went to attack Lucci but was blocked by Iron Body and swiftly kicked in the same direction as Luffy.

"LUFFY! ZORO!"

Lucci then stalked towards Nami, "I'm afraid it's your turn."

"Nami!" Isaac tried to rush to protect her, only to be kicked down by Dell. "You'll stay here and die with your friends." They growled. Isaac began feeling dizzy before succumbing to his injuries and blacking out. 

'3 black butterflies on the left arm...Where do I remember seeing that...?'

"ISAAC! CHOPPER! WAKE UP!"

SMACK

Isaac jolted up, holding his head in his hands. "OW! Nami, what the fuck!?" He hissed. "Isaac, Chopper! We gotta hurry and find the others before CP9 takes Robin away forever!!!" Nami exclaimed. Chopper and Isaac looked at Nami confused, "Huh?" Nami then explained that Robin had only left to keep the crew safe. "So she doesn't hate us!?" Chopper beamed. Nami nodded, "That's right!" "I'm so glad!" Isaac smiled, feeling tears stream down his cheeks. "Thank goodness..." He mumbled before coughing. Chopper looked at Isaac with concern, "Are you okay, Isaac!?" He cried. Isaac nodded, "Yeah, I'm fine. Dell just kinda threw me around like a ragdoll, 'is all. And they stabbed me in the chest with their finger pistol technique..." He then looked at Chopper, "Can I get some bandages from your med bag?" Isaac asked. 

Chopper nodded, "Let me help you put them on."

Isaac, Chopper, and Nami went behind a tree briefly as Isaac began taking off the straps of his overalls, then his shirt, revealing his chest binder, slightly soaked in blood where Dell had pierced him. Nami gasped, "Isaac, you're-" 

"It's okay, Nami. Chopper knows. I figured it'd be important for him to know since he's our ship's doctor." Isaac explained. Nami nodded, and Chopper wrapped the bandages around Isaac's chest. "Let me know if it's too tight." He said. Isaac nodded. When they finished, Isaac put his shirt back on and looked at Nami. "So we know Robin's in trouble, what's the plan?" He asked. 

"First, we have to find Luffy and the others," Nami said. 

"Yeah! But-uh-where do we start looking?" Chopper asked. "I dunno, that's why we've gotta go look for them," Nami replied. "Wait a minute, you three." Iceburg walked towards them. "I don't care if you go after Nico Robin, but there's something you should know. The last sea train for government personnel is departing at 11 pm tonight. You should be able to find CP9 there, as well as Nico Robin. Because of Aqua Laguna, this will be the last departure. Meaning you won't be able to chase them on another train." 

Nami's smile faltered, "Wait so that means..."

"Yes, if you want to go after Nico Robin, you'll have to leave right now."

Isaac grimaced, "Shit! What time is it!?"

"10:30." Iceburg replied.

"So we've only got half an hour!? Hey, can't you stop the train since you're the mayor?"

Iceburg shook his head, "Unfortunately, the train's destination is Enies Lobby, which only permits authorized government personnel. Even the engine driver is from the government. So I have no say in the matter."

"Oh no! I guess the only way is for me to get to the train station and talk some sense into Robin." Nami looked at Isaac and Chopper. "Chopper, Isaac! I'll tell you which directions Luffy and Zoro flew in so you can search there. Then, when you find them, tell them to come to the train station ASAP!" 

"Alright!"

Paulie sat up, looking at the other members of Galley-La, "Hey, I want you guys to help that girl over there find her buddies. Got it?" 

The men all began protesting, insisting that the Straw Hats were guilty of attempting to assassinate Iceburg and that they should be punished until Paulie shouted, "THAT'S JUST IT! THE STRAW HATS DIDN'T DO IT! The real criminals set 'em up!" Paulie explained. He began explaining that Iceburg and him were only alive because the Straw Hats protected them. He then looked at Nami, "Hey, Immoral Girl."

"What the!? You're still calling me that!?"

"If you're going to the station, I'll show you the way."

"Oh, thanks, I guess."

Nami, Chopper, and Isaac then split off into groups with some of the men from Galley-La. But as the storm, Aqua Laguna, got worse, they were forced to get to higher ground. Nami, with the help of Granny Kokoro, found Luffy further away stuck in between two buildings, and immediately ran to get him free. "Can you catch either of their scents, Chopper?" Isaac asked. Chopper shook his head, "The wind and smell of salt water are interfering..." He then squints, "Wait...Is that a sea anemone coming out of that chimney?" He pondered aloud. "Sea anemone?" Isaac looked in the same direction as Chopper and then gasped. "Wait a minute. That's no sea anemone, that's..." Isaac growled. 

"ZORO YOU IDIOT!" He shouted. Chopper threw Isaac onto his back, jumping from building to building towards Zoro. "WE'RE COMING ZORO!!!" When they got to the chimney, Isaac shouted, "ZORO! ZORO ARE YOU OKAY!?" Chopper shouted too, "CAN YOU HEAR US!?"

"Pinky, Chopper!? Get me outta here!"

Isaac and Chopper got to the top and both began pulling on Zoro's legs, trying to free him. "You two are gonna tear me in half!" "Dammit Zoro, how did you get stuck in here anyways!?"

"Guys! That giant wave's gonna hit us any second! What do we do!?" Chopper cried in a panic. "How the Hell should I know!?" Zoro retorted. "I got it! Zoro, if we give you Kitetsu, you think you can cut the chimney in half!?" Isaac proposed. "I don't see why not. Put it in my hand!" Chopper gave Zoro his sword, and just when the wave was about to hit, Zoro and Luffy managed to free themselves from their traps. 

"Rumble: Jumping Point!" Chopper broke a rumble ball in his mouth and transformed, jumping high and grabbing Zoro and Isaac, "Just hang onto me!" Luffy, Chopper, Isaac, Nami, and Zoro then reached high enough ground to survive the wave. The Galley-La men, Kokoro, and her granddaughter Chimney cheered. 

Nami explained the whole situation, now including that Sanji and Usopp were both on the same train as Robin. "So what should we do, Captain?" Zoro asked, turning to Luffy. "There's nothing to think about. We gotta go and save Robin, right away!" Luffy declared. He then looked at Paulie, "Hey, Rope guy. We need another sea train, you got another one?" 

Paulie not only said no but also refused to give them a ship; he and the other Galley-La members scolded them for even thinking about sailing during Aqua Laguna. "Hold on. If we wait until the storm's over, we won't make it in time to save Robin, will we?" Nami asked. "I've heard of Enies Lobby before. When you mentioned it, I remembered something. It's where the Gates of Justice are located, aren't they?"

"What're the Gates of Justice?" Isaac asked. "Enies Lobby is known as a judicial island. But that's a lie. The court there's only for show, the truth being that if you're brought there, then you're already considered guilty. When you're taken through an empty courtroom to a set of cold steel doors that tower over the rest of the island. Those are the Gates of Justice. Once you enter those doors, you never see the light of day again. There are only two places you go to once passing through, neither of which you're likely to leave. The first is Marine Headquarters, where the strongest military forces gather in the name of justice. The other is Impel Down, an undersea prison filled with torture chambers and execution blocks. To make it clear, Enies Lobby is only a death sentence. There's no trial, no hope, and no chance of escape. Am I right?"

Paulie was stunned and silent. "Robin has a bounty on her head. No matter where they take her, she'll face death or worse! Each second we waste talking is another step she takes towards the Gates of Justice! DON'T YOU DARE TELL US TO WAIT UNTIL TOMORROW!"

Paulie crossed his arms, "Even if the seas were calm, you should never set foot in that place. Don't forget you're pirates yourselves. Regardless of how they feel about their crewmate, no pirate is stupid enough to go there because it's crystal clear what would happen." He explained. "Going there to pick a fight is like declaring war on the entire Navy!" Luffy then got into a fighting stance, "Fine, then we'll steal a ship!"

Paulie took out his ropes as the rest of the crew got ready for a fight, "I'll take you on!" 

"HOLD IT!" Kokoro shouted, causing everyone to look at her. "Don't be an idiot. Like it or not, Paulie's right, Straw Hat." "SHUT IT GRANNY IT'S NONE OF YOUR-"

"None of my business? These folks are just trying to prevent you from killing yourselves! Look, no matter how mad you are, no ship is a match for Aqua Laguna. Only a sea train made by a legendary man can get through it." "I know, but we have no choice if the only sea train has left town already!"

Kokoro turned around, "If you're ready to die, then come with me." She said. "I'll give you a ride on my sea train!" 

Kokoro and Chimney took Luffy, Zoro, Isaac, and Chopper to a secret base where another sea train supposedly lay. Chopper and Luffy ran ahead in excitement. "Now, now, settle down, boys. You can be all excited as you want, but you're not getting in there without the keys. Huh? That's weird." To Kokoro's surprise, the door had already been opened. Luffy opened the doors fully and gasped. "WOAH IT'S SO COOL!" 

"This train's different from the Puffing Tom, it's a crazy train," Kokoro said. "It's name is Rocketman. We can't even allow passengers to be on board." 

"Did you have to add a face?" Zoro asked. "I think the face adds a nice extra touch," Isaac said. "It may look mean, but Rocketman doesn't bite." Kokoro chuckled. Iceburg exited the train, "Hey, it's Icepops!" "Oh, so you are okay, Straw Hat. I assume you brought them here, Kokoro?"

"The question is, what are you doing here, Iceburg? You've been through a lot, you need rest." Kokro said. "Let's just say you and I were thinking of the same thing. We have a soft spot for idiots, don't we?" Kokoro laughed. "Go ahead, I've finished servicing it," Iceburg said. Luffy laughed, "Wow, thanks for preparing it for us, Ice Pops!"

"I wouldn't celebrate until after you survive the ride. This was our failed prototype before the Puffing Tom. It's a runaway train." Iceburg explained. Nami then ran downstairs with two men wheeling a cart behind her. "Sorry I took so long!" She exclaimed. "Save the small talk for later, we gotta go!" Luffy shouted. Luffy began lecturing Nami about taking too long until she revealed that she'd gotten food and drinks for the road. "I'm sorry I yelled at you!"

"STRAW HAT!!!!"

Everyone turned to see the Franky Family, who were pretty beaten up. "Straw Hat! Please take us with you!!! I heard from Galley-La that you were taking this train to Enies Lobby! Those bastards took our Big Bro Franky, and we can't go after him alone because of Aqua Laguna!" The Franky Family begged for Luffy to take them with them. Luffy got on the train, turned to them and called out, "Hurry up! Get on!"

Isaac looked at Luffy, concerned, "Are you sure about this, Cap?" He asked. Luffy nodded, "Yeah!" 

Everyone got on and in mere seconds the train burst to life and zoomed out to sea.
