It was very cold and dark. Your droopy eyes began to open as you felt your hands were cuffed to chains and onto a pipe. You could hear the sounds of dripping water and there was only a small light coming through a tiny window from the ceiling. Everything felt so eerie. You tried to scream for help, but no words came out since your mouth was gagged using a piece of white cloth. You struggled to escape from the chains, but there was no use.

You could hear a door open, but you didn't know who entered the room.

"Well, well. Looks like our princess finally woke up." A feminine voice from the shadows said.

You tried to say something, but your voice was still muffled by the cloth.

"You must be wondering how you got here." You heard footsteps getting closer as you tried to break free from the chains.

"Don't worry, I'm not gonna hurt you, unless you do something stupid of course." You finally see her, emerge from the shadows.

"You will do everything as I say, or else you will lose every single person you ever loved."

It was Lady Caine.

She drew her sword from it's sheath as she pointed it towards you. She used it to remove the gag from your mouth.

"What do you want?" You said with your voice trembling in anger, as you tried to act brave in front of her. You couldn't let her feel that she had full control of you.

Lady Caine chuckled. "Oh, it's really simple actually. I want you and your whole family feel what I felt when you locked away my father like an animal and left me alone and helpless. I had to fend for myself you know? The only way I could get by day to day was from eating scraps and stealing. Your family made me this way and now....

now is the time you pay."

"Once my father finds out I'm gone, the whole royal guard will be looking for me and you'll be sorry once they find me." You said as you threatened her with those words.

"See, that's the thing princess. I already took care of that. Actually no." She said with a smirk on her face. You heard the door creak open. "It was your dear friend who handled that situation for me."

You could hear footsteps again, but this time you were scared to find out who it was.

"Oh hey there m'lady. Didn't see that coming did you?" You heard voice said as it comes out from the darkness as his face was illuminated by the light coming through the window.

"Varian!" You gasped. You didn't see this coming. 

"Yeah, I'll spare you the details of how your sister decided to break her promise and left my father to suffer and get encased in the ember."

"Varian, Raps didn't mean to do that to you and your father, I swear." You said as you were trying to reason with him and get him back to your side.

"Shut it (Y/N). Varian said as he snarled a you. "Lady Caine and I have a deal anyways so I have to bring my end of the bargain. The plan is that I get the royal guard to sleep for 24 hours as Caine and her crew kidnap you and your father."

You could feel your heart get ripped apart as Varian was explaining to you how he betrayed your family, the whole kingdom of Corona and especially you.

"Your father will be returned to the castle, as long as your mother hands off half of all the kingdom's treasure to Lady Caine." Varain said with his snarky tone and hateful eyes.

"What about me? You're going to return me right? As long as you get your gold?" You asked, scared of what might their answer be.

"Oh yeah, right. See, that's a no." Varian said

"What?!" You said as you were trying to wrap your head around this whole situation."

"Actually, the truth is honey. We're never gonna return you." He knelt down and leaned in closer to you.

"It's because, you're mine now." Varian said with a sly smile. 

As Varian was distracted and was explaining his lovely plan to you, Lady Caine suddenly interrupted and shouted. "Boys, NOW!"

Two large men came in the room and they began to hold Varian and placed his arms to his back against his will.

"LADY CAINE, WHAT IS THE MEANING OF THIS?!" Varian shouted as he was struggling to break free from the two men.

"Oh boy, you are so naive and gullible." Lady Caine said to Varian as you watched this scene unravel in front of your eyes.

"You see, I have other plans, Varian. As I said, I plan to make the royal family, especially King Fred to feel the pain I felt. The torture of it all, so to answer your question...."

Lady Caine faced you and stabbed you in the heart.

"I would kill their most beloved daughter, (Y/N). Since it's easier for her to be killed rather than Rapunzel with her stupid magic hair." Lady Caine said with an evil glare in her eyes.

"NOOOOOOOO!" Varian screamed in agony.

You began to feel searing pain in your chest. You could feel the sword hitting the bones in your body, making any movement of yours make you feel excruciating pain. You felt in anguish, white-hot and blinding agony as the sword was still sticking out of your body leaving your skin shivering down to your spine. The screaming rang in your ears, loud and clear as bells. You were gasping for air while the metallic, salty taste of blood invaded your mouth as you coughed up blood. If the sword were to be removed from your body, you would bleed out and die in 30 seconds.

As you were on the brink of death, all of Varian's pent up anger began to rise, as he kicked the guy at his left in the balls, and with his other hand free, he punched the other guy in the face. Both of them were left on the floor. Before Lady Caine could react, he drew his sword at her neck, his nostrils flared and his full of hatred and anger.

You were trying to process what was happening, you felt your eyes become heavy and your breathing became harder by the second.

"HOW COULD YOU DO THIS?!" Varian screamed as he tried to blink back the tears, threatening to cascade down his cheeks. 

"Oh, Varian. Do you really have the guts to kill me? Do you really want to have blood on your hands for the rest of your life?" Lady Caine said trying not to tremble in fear as Varian walked closer to her as she was moving backward and felt her back on the wall.

Varian was at the peak of his anger. "For killing the love of my life, yes. You shouldn't have done that." He said as he sliced her head off her body, as it rolled onto the floor.

As he finished, he sheathed his sword and ran to your side. He uncuffed you and was trying to wake you up. Tears rolled down his eyes.

"(Y/N)! Please be okay. You're okay. Try to breathe. Breathe darling please! Open your eyes. This isn't what was supposed to happen! Come back. It's okay. It's over now. Wake up. Please wake up. Don't do this to me love. I love you so much. Come back!" Varian said as he was breaking down on your body. He lost his father, now this? He wasn't going to let this happen.

He picked your body up and ran to the castle, hoping the doctors there could heal you better than he could. You could feel the life being sucked out of you, but even saying anything at the moment took a lot of work.

He went into the castle, panting with you still in his arms. Since the guards were still asleep, he ran to Rapunzel's room.

Rapunzel was in there sitting by the fireplace, her eyes were red from crying. As the door opened, she checked who it was.

"Varian, what are yo- OH MY GOD (Y/N). "

"I'm so sorry Rapunzel, I really am!" Varian exclaimed.

There's no time! Put her on my bed! I'll call the doctors!" Rapunzel said as she ran out of the room.

Varian quickly followed Rapunzel, even though he still hated her. The only important thing right now for him was you.

It took all of your strength to open your eyes, but you had to say something to Varian before it was too late.

"Varian" You said with your tired and hoarse voice.

"(Y/N)! I'm sorry, I'm so sorry. I didn't mean for this to happen, I-"

Before Varian could continue, you shushed him as you saw him with messy and ruffled hair, red eyes and blood all over him. He looked like a complete mess. You began to brush his hair with your fingers

"Varian, I forgive you. I don't want you to feel any guilt when I'm gone. I-, I-. I love you, Varian. You said as you saw Varian crying again.

"I love you too, (Y/N). More than anything in the world." Varian said as he saw you close your eyes, drifting away from the world.
