"Thanks for letting me stay."

Monse said as I walked her to the door. It was a nice night.

"No worries. We should do this more often." As I opened the door, the porch was covered with Roses and a teddy bear saying, 'happy valentines day' I smirked. That boy. We walked into the porch.

"Ruby got some tricks." I leaned against the door, shaking my head, blushing. Monse turns around as she waited for her dad to park.

"Thats my Ruby."

"I like this. No boys, just us." We both laughed. "Anyways, you're going with Ruby to the dance?"

"Yes, Willy is going to drop me and him off. You and Cesar will meet us there, including Jamal." She nods.

"Lets see how this goes." We hugged.

"I guess we'll wait and see." I saw her walk to the car and left. I jumped as I saw Willy. "Jesus Willy." I had my hand over my chest.

"Cute." He points at the roses. "Ruby?" He asked as I picked up the flowers and teddy bear.

"Maybe." I sang. I went to my room and placed the bear on my bed and the flowers on my dresser.

"You know you're dating him." My eyes widen. How?! "What? Its not like I've seen you and him holding hands when you both get home from school. Or the late talks on the phone. I was like Ruby when I was your age." He chuckles. I turned around. "I like the kid. Dont get me wrong."

"Good." I said as I pat his chest. "There will be nothing for you to say that will change that way I feel about him." He just smiles. "Now move along." I pushed him back and closed my door. I pulled out my phone and decided to FaceTime Ruby.

"So you saw." He smirks.

"You are a charmer Ruben." I told him as I sat on my bed. "But thank you. I love them."

"Im glad. Anything to spoil mi princesa." Anything this man would say keeps making me blush.

"RUBY COME HELP WITH THE TWINS!" I heard his mother.

"Looks like you are busy." I said. "Ill see later you okay."

"Bye mi amor." He then hung up. I spent the whole day, listening to music, watch some makeup videos. When it was time, I went to my vanity and started to do my makeup and hair. I put on the dress and then put on my heels. I did some final touches and waited for Willy.

"Ready?" I looked at my phone, and saw Rubys text. "You look beautiful."

"You better not cry, tough man." He was ready and outside.

"You are growing up too fast." I looked down.

"Hes ready." We both walked out. There he was. I very interesting black and gold shirt. "You look good." I said as I fixed his shirt collar.

"You look even beautiful." I chuckled. "Hi Willy. Thanks for driving us."

"Lets get you guys going." We got in the car. Both me and Ruby went to the back. It was a very awkward ride to the school. "Ruby, Val." Oh no. I know that voice. Its his mature voice. Ruby was getting nervous. He never really had a one on one with Willy since Mario, Oscar and him were all teens. "I know its a dance, i just want to say, use protection-"

"Oh my god!" I groaned. I opened the door. "Good bye Willy." I said as I jumped out the car, grabbing Rubys hand. That was so embarrassing. "Im so sorry about that."

"Its cool. Unless..." he smirked. I just gave him a push.

"Come on. The crews waiting." The party already started. Boogie by Brockhampton came on and Ruby pulls me into the dance floor.

"Outside Ruben is working the inside tonight!" Ruby yelled over the loud music.

"Thats right!" Jasmine comes up. Then she hugs me. "Jasmine!"

"You are so lucky to have Ruby. You guys are so cute together." I looked at her. Who told her? "Girl dont be surprise, you always have those lovey dovey eyes for my Ruby. But hey! Im happy that youre happy!" Wait a minute, are they matching? It was a Jasmine move. Its cute.

"I told her!" I smiled. Great, no more secrets. We can be civil now. They started talking about the dance that they are gonna do at the end. They were practicing yesterday. Ruby got annoyed and pulls me to Monse and Cesar. "What do you guys think? Should we go first or last?"

"I dont think itll matter because Monse and I might have this in the bag." Cesar said as he dance with a ridiculous blazer. Oh Cesar, why.

"Thats a terrible idea." Monse told him.

"I agree, you cant dance for shit." I said.

"You dont think we can pull it off?"

"Its not you, its me. And my feelings about how bad of a dancer you are." Monse and I laughed and fist bump with the burn.

"Cesar, buddy, you dont wanna bring more attention to yourself dancing. You already got enough with that jacket. Which brings me to my next question, what is that jacket?" The same question i had when i saw that. Cesar looks down and clenched his jaw.

"Yo! Bruce looks good on you bro!" Jamal yells into the circle. Oh no he name it. Oh no.

"Ugh! You name this?" Cesar said with disgust.

"So you're to blame for this eyesore?" Ruby told Jamal.

"Dont listen to him. Hes not fashion forward." Yeah okay. Jamal, you got great shoe game but fashion isnt your game.

"When exactly did you purchase this jacket?"

"Well..back when it was my cheddar, i shredded off a little of it. But now that its our gouda, i havent sliced a dime sized piece of that feta!"

"Turner!" Here comes coach.

"Im on a break Ronald!" I shook my head. Waste of money J. We started to dance in place. Coach laughed at Cesars jacket.

"Im happy to know someone wont be sticking it in tonight." He went away laughing. Cesar had enough and took it off.

"Ladies and gents, yall ready to get this dance competition started?" The DJ cheered. We all cheered back. The dances came up, they were good, but knowing Ruby and Jasmine, they'll definitely will kill it. I stood with Monse and Cesar as we waited. The music stops by coach. We all stood there angry.

"Someone has my phone. That same someone is the reason you are no longer having fun. This individual has five seconds to return my phone. If they return my phone before i get to five, the dance can continue. If not, the night is canceled." Are you kidding me! I was just having fun! "Now im gonna turn around, so i dont even know who did it." Coach turns around. I shake my head. "One! Two! Three! I better start hearing movement. Four!" Nobody was moving. "Oh! Dont let me get to five. Four and a half! Five!" He turns around.

"Cowards!" Jamal yells out. Oh boy. "All of you!"

"This how you wanna play it? We can play it that way. Ive got the human find my phone app. Jamal, do your thing." Jamal takes out his phone and start to dial coach's number. The ringing came from Tyrone. Jamal and coach pointed at him. Jamal made is way to him, grabbing the phone from his pocket. I rolled my eyes. "Tyrone, my office now! Resume the dance." We all cheered as the music came back. The dance competition resumed.

"Next up, everybody make some noise for the Great Jasby." We all clapped and cheered. Thats a cute name.

"Your mans up." Cesar shoves me. Jasmine and Ruby came up from the stage and started to dance. It was actually good. I started to smile, they are so good! Ruby did a motorboat and I laughed. The three of us cheered. That was incredible! Jasmine kissed Ruby, i stood back. I i umm. But Ruby pushes her back.

"And we have a winner!" They won. I ran to Ruby.

"You did it!" I hugged him.

"The Great Jasby has won a $50 gift card to Chilis!" We gathered around the two.

"Oh my god! Guys! If we play our cards right, we can stretch this out to two dinners. Four meal if we order off the kids menu and we dont tip!" I couldn't stop smiling. "But thats up to you. We won!" I started to get hot. I was gonna faint.

"Hey ill be back." I told them. I went to the punch and drank a couple of cups. Marisol came up to me. "Hey!"

"Tell Ruby he did amazing! It was pretty good!"

"Haha! Thanks, what can I say, he's got some talent." The song Changes, the one playing from Olivias quince, start to play. I dropped my cup.

"Hey are you okay?" I started to get hit with the memories. Holding Rubys hand as his mom cried for help. Olivias voice, calling out for Ruby.

"I-i gotta go." I pushed Marisol out of my way and went to the lockers. The image of Ruby, covered in blood, made me sob. Why!? No! Then it hit me, Ruby. Monse came to me. "Wheres Ruby?" I cried to her.

"Out front." I ran as fast as I could. Cesar was already out there with him.

"Everything is alright." Cesar told Ruby. "Okay? Youre safe."

"Hey, go. I got this." I waved Cesar off. He gave me a look, then I gave him one back. He stood up and left. I sat down next to Ruby, hugging him. Ruby was crying, it made me so broken. He put his head on my shoulder. "Amor, its okay. You're not ready. Its okay." I kissed his head.

"I just want to be myself again." He cried to me. Those words, my heart went to broken, to shattered. We sat there, crying. I had texted Willy to come to pick us up, and not to ask anything. He later came. I took him to my room. Willy was gonna say something but I just shook my head. I told Ruby he could stay. Ruby went to sleep as soon he hit my bed. I took off my heels and went to the living room.

"Hey, what happened?" I hugged Willy as I cried into his chest. The cried told him everything. That song, it reminds me of me losing Ruby.
