Laura's POV
After sterilizing and cleaning her wound with the hydrogen peroxide, I used the suture needle and thread to stitch up the small hole on the front and the back side of her lower abdomen. Next, I taped two separate pads on each stitched up hole, and finished by firmly wrapping the lower part of her abdomen in bandages. But not too tight to prevent the flow of blood from being distributed improperly all throughout her body.
"Thanks Laura, I feel a lot better now," Rebecca thanked me.
"Your welcome," I replied, with a smile.
Rebecca tried sitting up off the ottoman on her own, but winced in utter pain, as she sat back down.
"Hey Laura, can you help me over to the couch so I can rest a bit?"
"Sure thing." I gently grabbed one of her armsβwrapping it around my shoulder.
Slowly, I helped Rebecca off the ottoman and onto her feet. Very carefully, I carried her over to the couch, while trying my best to cause her any unnecessary pain. As I prudently sat her down onto the couch, Tyler walked back into the living room, wearing some additional tactical gear from head to toe.
He was wearing a tan bulletproof vest with some extra pouches attached to it, over his black long sleeve shirt. His sleeves were rolled up to the middle of his forearm. Along with a pair of grey-colored khakis, topped by black tactical knee pads. Including a pair of black tactical gloves, a black tactical utility belt, with a handgun holster with some other pouches, a couple separate pouches strapped around his legs, and a pair of brown combat boots. He was also carrying an Archer Kanon 12 shotgun around his back, with a mini flashlight attached to it. Tyler was holding onto it by the strap that's connected to it, draping re weapon over his back. And my gosh, I had to admit he looked really cute in that outfit. He looked like a mini version of Piers, except without his signature shemagh and sniper rifle. Before I could say anything, Tyler spoke up,
"Hey Laura, Ada wants to talk to you. In private."
"First of all, where the hell did you get all of that gear Tyler???" I inquired.
"Ada gave it all to me, pretty cool huh?" Tyler replied, as he flexed his arms in front of arm. I couldn't help but stare only a little bit at him as he flexed his muscles. "How's everybody else doing?"
"I just checked on the girls. They're almost done with helping Lilly pack," He responded, as he shifted his gaze over towards Rebecca for a moment. "You okay Rebecca?"
"I'll be fine Tyler, I appreciate your concern," Rebecca replied, with a sweet tone of voice.
"Where's Ada, Tyler?"
"She's in her bedroom at the end of the hallway, you won't miss it," He replied, pointing over to right, down the hallway.
"Okay guys, I'll right back." I sat up and left. Heading down the hallway to go see Ada in her room. Once I found it, she was waiting patiently, leaning her back against one of the walls.
"Hey Ada," I greeted her.
She glanced up at me.
"Tyler said that there was something you wanted to talk to me about in private. Am I right?"
"Yes. Isn't today your birthday?" She inquired.
"It is in fact."
"Alright then, might as well hook up the birthday girl since today's your special day," Ada motioned me to follow her, standing up and walking by me. I was confused about what she meant at first. Hooking me up with what? A party and a sweet sixteen sash? I was honestly clueless.Β She lead me into her closet, and oh boy I was jumping for joy at what she had stored inside.
It was a mixture of a regular closet and a gun closet. On one side, there were multiple different guns hung neatly all over the gun rack inside, along with storage full of ammo and all kinds of explosives next to them. On the other side, there's a clothes rack filled with all kinds of clothes, mostly tactical outfits with tactical gear.
"Since it's your birthday, along with the fact that I do owe majorly for saving my little girl, I'm going to let you pick out any outfit out of this closet along with some gear. Since the place we're going isn't exactly the definition of safe, your gonna need to suit up," Ada explained to me, leaning against the side of the doorway.
"Really? Anything I want...?" I inquired, as I marveled at the closet.
"All except this dress," Ada clarified, as she walked past me. Taking out a red silky dress, with a yellow-orange butterfly sequence stitched onto it. "It's one of my favorites."
"Okay, got it." I nodded my head, acknowledging her.
I began to wander around the enormous closetβwondering what I should choose. The first thing that caught my eye was a black beret, sitting on top of the shelf above the clothes rack. So, I grabbed it off the shelf.
I treaded over to the clothes rack, looking around for anything else that catch my eye. Something that would be comfortable, but appropriate in this case. In the end, I found a black v-neck t-shirt with sleeves that would go down to middle of my forearms, a black, lavish leather jacket, a pair of black skinny jeans, a pair of slim black combat gloves, and lastly, a pair of black comfortable combat boots that were my exact size.
Once I was done picking out the clothes I wanted, Ada lead me over where she stored her tactical gear and weapons at the back of the closet. I immediately picked out of there a black baroness belt with a pistol holster, and numerous other pouches. Along with a black shoulder holster, a .45 caliber handgun and some ammo for it. Also, I made sure to also grab some ammo for my beretta and assault rifle as well, since I was almost out.
"You done Laura?" Ada asked me.
"Yes, I'm done," I replied.
Ada showed me where her conjoining bathroom was, so I could change into the new outfit I picked out. I first took off the current holster with my gun and knife in it, leaving it on her queen size bed before I went into the bathroom.

After I finished changing into my new outfit, I came out like I was like a totally new person. Literally... I went over to the long mirror, to take a better look at myself.
I was wearing the black beret on my head, with my hair fixed into a low ponytail. My bangs being tucked neatly behind my ears. I still kept my choker and silver watch on although. Inside the pockets inside my jacket and pouches on my utility belt were stuffed with rifle and handgun ammo. I also wore the black v-neck shirt, with sleeves that went to the middle of my forearms. Along with a black leather shoulder holster hidden from view underneath my jacket, with my secondary handgun with ammo for it. In addition with black skinny jeans, a black baroness belt hooked around my waist and thighs, black combat boots, black combat gloves, and the knife sheath strapped around my lower left leg just above my boot.
To me, I thought I looked like a spy to be honest, with all this gear I had on. I walked over to the bed to grab my PDA, gun, and knife. To store away into my jean pocket, and my new belt. I was able to find my S.T.A.R.S. knife and PDA, but not my handgun. 'Where is it?'
My internal thoughts were interrupted, when Ada came back into the room, as I turned around to face her. She examined me from head to toe, as I stood there in front of her.
"Not bad... Not bad at all... but I think your missing something," Ada walked over to one of the end tables right next to the queen-sized bed. She opened the drawerβtaking out a pair of black fancy sunglasses. Then treaded back over to me, handing me the stylish shades.
"Try them on."
I put on the sunglasses without hesitation. My eyes widened, feeling astonished about how high-tech they actually were when I put them on.
"What kind of sunglasses are these?" I asked Ada, as I awed at them.
"They're an intricate gadget used commonly by most U.S. government agents. I got a pair from an old friend of mine a while back, but I rarely use them anyway. It has a thermal vision mode so you can detect heat signatures of anyone up to a hundred feet away, along with a night vision mode programmed into them in case you can't see very well in the dark, and it also has an automatic identification system that can identify anyone within fifty to a hundred of your range of view."
"Cool... I can keep them, right?" I inquired, while looking at myself in the mirror and wearing the shades.
"Of course, they're yours now."
"Thanks Ada," I thanked her, as I took them off. Storing them inside one of my pockets in my leather jacket.
"Your welcome, also here's your gun," Ada replied, holding out my gun to me.
I took my weapon back from her, thanking her once again. I started examining it, noticing that it had been upgraded. A laser sight was now attached to it, with a small miniature flashlight and extended magazine clip.
"Listen Laura," Ada starters off, as I glanced up at her. "You know that everyone can't come with us. Two of your friends are injured, and my daughter is too young to be involved in any of this. So for everyone's sake, we have to spilt up when we leave here. It's the only way to ensure their safety and well-being."
"I figured that you were going to say that eventually. But, is it just me and you going to find my mother while everyone else heads to the evac location, right?"
"No, your friend Tyler is coming with us too." I instantly reacted when Ada mentioned Tyler.
My eyes went round. "What! No! I don't want him coming with us!"
"I know that you're upset about this Laura, but he wanted to though. He's knows how important finding your mother is to you. You're gonna need all the help you can get Laura, especially at a time like this. Plus, Tyler shown me that he's fully capable of taking care of himself in this type of situation despite his age and immaturity. He'll be fine."
"But... I don't want to lose him too... Not today..." I stuttered. A lump began to form in my throat, as tears started to brim in my eyes. I already lost the last of my adoptive family a few days ago, I didn't want to lose anyone else close to me today. . .
I felt a muscular hand grip my small slender, gloved one. I glanced upβseeing Tyler beside me holding my hand tenderly. "You won't lose me Laura. Nothing bad will happen to me. I'll always be there for you, not matter what happens. I promise," Tyler assured me, as he lifted his free hand. Cupping my cheek and wiping the small tears streaming down my cheeks.
I raised my hand, gently grasping Tyler's hand. Holding it close to my cheek as I stroked the back of it with my thumb. "You know that you don't have to do this, Tyler."
"Believe me Lari, I know," He acknowledged me. "I know how much finding your mother means to you. I already lost my Mom today, there's no way in hell I'm gonna let you lose yours too. And that is my choice."
Tyler grabbed ahold of my hand, bringing it up to his lips. Tenderly pecking the back of my hand. I smiled at the gesture, as I let go of his hand. Lowering my arm back at my side.
"Does everyone else know about the plan," I asked Tyler, as Ada went back inside her gun closet.
He nodded his head. "Mhm, I just told them."
"And Rebecca?"
"She knows about it and agrees with it, don't worry." Ada came back out. Carrying two black duffel bags.
"We're leaving in five minutes," Ada announced, as she walked past us and out of the room.
"Well... we better say good bye to them before we go," I suggested.
He nodded his head in agreement, as the two of us left the bedroom, holding each other's hands.

After saying goodbye to everyone, I grabbed my purse and the AK-12 223 I left by the front door and met them again in the open garage. Where two SUVs were waiting for us. One for Ada, Tyler, and I to take. And the second one for the others to use.
Ada unloaded one duffel bag into our vehicle, and the other into the second vehicle. She had already said goodbye to Lilly, making sure she knew that my friends were gonna keep her safe, no matter what. While Rebecca and Lilly were waiting in one of the cars, I was saying my goodbyes to Emile and Moira.
"Good luck on finding your mother Laura, stay safe," Emile told me, as she hugged me.
"You too Emile," I replied back, as I pulled away from her. Giving her my purse.
"Try not to get killed, okay," Moira stated, in a somewhat joking manner.
"Don't worry, I'm not planning on it." I chuckled.
"Come Laura, we have to go. Ada's waiting for us," Tyler urged me, as he placed a hand on my shoulder. Telling me that it's time to go.
"Alright."
I started walking over towards the black SUV Ada was in. Hopping up front with Ada, while Tyler got into the vehicle sitting behind us.
"Ready to go?" Ada asked, as she was waiting patiently from the driver's seat.
We both nodded our heads in response. Tyler smiled at meβholding my hand gently in an attempt to comfort me. To let me know that everything is going to be okay. Ada started up the engine of the car, while I turned around in my seat to look at Emile and Moira one last time. I waved goodbye to them, right as we drove out of the garage and into the unknown once again.
