➳ Marry the Moon

"You can't marry the moon."

I told Kristine when she told me she wanted to learn how to fly and marry the moon. You can't learn how to fly either.

She shook her head and flashed me a smile.

"Of course you can." She replied.

What you said didn't make sense... I want to tell her. How can you bond yourself with something so far... We don't even know for sure if the moon exists. It can all be an illusion.

Perhaps I'm being too literal, but I really don't get her. I wish she would speak in a way that would make sense to me.

I frowned, feeling really frustrated about this. She must have read my expression because she said, "Being sad isn't a real job. So don't fret too much about what I said."

I nodded, but it was still lingering in my thoughts.

We parted ways. The sun was setting and soon... it was night.

The moon looked at me. It was still far far away. How can you marry the moon? How can it love? Does it have emotions? Feelings? Perhaps we are talking about someone in the moon? Could it be an angel? A demon?

I told myself to stop summoning the devil... angel... I cleared my mind.

And I realized I've been answering the wrong questions.

It's not how... it's why...

Kristine, why do you want to marry the moon?

A/N:
This is actually a writing challenge from the podcast "Start with this" Where I was given 3 phrases and I had to write a Drabble for it. (I actually just got these phrases from a tweet and not from a phrase generator like they said)

Phrases are: "You can't marry the moon" "being sad isn't a real job" and "stop summoning the devil"

I honestly don't know what this story is about, but feel free to think of your own interpretations.
