Chapter Eighteen: Worst Night
Chapter Eighteen: Worst Night
LOUD music pumped out from the scrapyard as Selena pulled her car into the dirt lot of Romero Brother's Scrapyard. EZ along with other Mayan members had invited the brunette to the party they were currently throwing at the clubhouse.
Selena had been fulled with excitement to be back at the Mayan clubhouse. It had been a few weeks since she first attended her first party at the scrapyard and Selena had enjoyed that night — especially the way it had ended.
A smile filled the brunette's face as she exited her car, making her way across the dusty lot, waving to familiar faces as she made her way towards the clubhouse in search of EZ.
She knew he was most likely inside behind the bar, serving drinks and doing whatever prospect duties he had to do. Which to be completely honest, Selena still didn't quite understand, but she was slowly learning.
"Selena!" The excited and very slurred voice of Sarah yelled as soon as the brunette stepped into the Mayan clubhouse.
The Vega woman's green eyes landed on the blonde before she had a chance to look around the crowed clubhouse for EZ, watching as the young blonde stumbled towards her with a drunken grin on her face, Diego following closely on her heels.
"Hi, Sarah." Selena raised an eyebrow at Diego as Sarah pulled her into a sloppy hug. "How much have you had to drink?" The older brunette questioned as she gently removed herself from Sarah's tight embrace, staring into the blonde's hazel eyes.
"Not that much." The blonde said slowly, a sheepish smile on her face as she tried her hardest to concentrate on the words coming from her boss' mouth. "I had like four shots." She slurred while holding up two fingers.
Selena shook her head, a small laugh leaving her lips. It would be hypocritical of her to lecture the blonde. Selena had been just like her many of times when she was Sarah's age, and from the looks of it Diego was keeping a close eye on her.
"Can I tell you something?" Sarah whispered as she leaned in closer to Selena. The obnoxious smell of rum filled Selena's nose immediately, making the brunette lean back just a bit from the blonde.
"Yeah." The Vega woman nodded, another small laugh leaving her lips at the excitement that crossed Sarah's face.
"I love your brother." Sarah whispered, a giggle leaving her rum soaked mouth.
The way Sarah's tone held such sincerity in it even in her drunken stupor, Selena knew the young blonde meant her words and it made the brunette happy. Sarah was a good person and Diego could do a whole hell of a lot worse, and he had. Selena could only hope Diego felt the same way.
"That's good, Sarah." The brunette whispered with a smile on her face. "Diego," Selena turned her green eyes onto her brother who stood close to Sarah, his hand resting on her lower back, "keep an eye on her."
There was no doubt in her mind that he planned on doing anything else but that tonight. From what Selena could see it didn't even look like her brother had been drinking at all.
"Of course, Lena." Diego assured with a smile as he wrapped his arm around the blonde.
Selena said her goodbyes to Diego and Sarah before walking over towards the bar, hoping to find EZ behind it, but she was quickly surprised to see Chucky standing behind the bar handing out drinks.
"Hola, señorita!" Chucky smiled as he waved his prosthetic fingers with enthusiasm at the brunette. "What would you like to drink?" He asked, pulling an empty glass out from underneath the bar.
"Oh. Uh, I'll just have a rum and coke." She smiled at Chucky. Selena hadn't gotten to interact with the odd man that many times but when she did she could tell he had a heart of gold. Granted, she was sure not many people thought that about him, but Selena certainly did.
"Here ya go." Chucky smiled as he placed the drink in front of the brunette.
"Thank you, Chucky." Selena smiled as she took a sip. "Do you know where EZ is?" She questioned.
Her green eyes had scanned the clubhouse but had yet to see The Reyes man.
"He's in the trailer." The bald man said while rubbing the back of his neck.
The Vega woman stared at Chucky, there was a look on his face as though he wanted to say more but decided against it. Selena shook her head, ignoring the strange feeling that was gnawing at her.
"Thank you, Chucky." She smiled, picking up her drink from off of the bar before making her way outside into the humid Santo Padre night.

SELENA had finished her drink by the time she made the short walk to EZ's trailer. Normally the brunette would have knocked on the door, but recently the pair had become comfortable enough with each other to just walk into each other's living spaces.
The brunette slowly opened the door, a smile on her face as she entered the small trailer that had become somewhat of a second home to her. It took a moment for Selena's green eyes to register what they were seeing, but when they did the smile fell quickly from her face.
EZ sat at the small table with a blonde sitting a little too close to him for Selena's liking, laughter leaving their mouths.
"Oh." Selena hadn't even realized any words had even left her mouth until the pair of heads turned in her direction. "Uh, I'm sorry. I should of knocked." A nervous laugh left her lips as she stared at EZ and the blonde, who she quickly realized was the woman from a few nights ago.
"Lena." EZ stood up quickly, the laughter gone from his face as he stared at the brunette. The hurt forming in her green eyes not going unnoticed by the Reyes man.
The Reyes man had been shocked to say the least when Emily showed up at the scrapyard asking to speak with him. He had wanted to turn her down, tell her to go home to her husband but his former high school sweetheart had told him it was important. But now with Selena standing a few feet away from him with hurt in her green eyes, he wished he had told Emily to go home from the start.
"I've gotta go." Selena muttered quickly before rushing out the door, ignoring EZ's voice calling after her.
Tears clouded Selena's green eyes as she made her way towards her car, ignoring EZ as he followed after her and the curious eyes of the party goers. How could she have been so stupid? How could she had fallen so quickly already and allow her heart to get broken again. It was dumb of her to start anything with EZ to begin with. It was too soon after Noah. She should of known better, but she followed her heart.
"Lena!" EZ placed a large hand on her shoulder as he finally reached the brunette.
He needed to explain the situation to her. That what she had just walked in on what nothing at all what it looked like — as cliched as it sounded. There was nothing between him and Emily. At least not anymore. EZ was invested in his relationship with Selena and he didn't want to loose it over a misunderstanding.
"I've gotta go, EZ." Selena said not bothering to turn around and face him. She knew if she did then the tears that were building in her eyes would break free.
"Lena, listen to me." He pleaded while turning the brunette around. "Emily is —"
"I don't need to hear it." The brunette interrupted, holding a hand up. "Look EZ, if you want to see other people you can. All we ever said is that we were taking whatever this is slow. We never said we were exclusive." Selena sniffed, wiping at her watery eyes.
"Lena." EZ said softly as he stared at the brunette.
"I've gotta go." The Vega woman said yet again before getting into her car and leaving the scrapyard.

SELENA wiped the tears from her eyes as she sat in her car in her driveway. A part of her wanted to go back and let EZ explain, yet the other part of her was glad she had left with letting him talk. She didn't feel like hearing all the details between him and the pretty blonde.
A tired sigh left Selena's lips as she exited her car. All she wanted right now was to climb into her bed and sleep away this night. It would be even better if she could forget tonight even happened at all, but that was asking for too much.
"Selena."
The brunette jumped at the unexpected sound of her name as she stepped onto her porch. "Letty?" Selena questioned as she stared at the teenager sitting in the rocking chair. It had been weeks since Selena had seen the teenager.
"Are you okay?" Selena asked softly as she walked closer towards the Cruz teenager.
Letty shook her head as she looked up at the brunette woman, tears in her eyes as she watched a mix of emotions cross The Vega woman's face.
"Letty," Selena gasped as she stared down at the teenager's bruised face. "What happened?"
"Can we talk about that tomorrow? I just really want some sleep."
"Of course." Selena quickly replied, nodding her head.
A sigh left Selena's lips as she laid in her bed after giving Letty a pair of pajamas and showing her to the guest bedroom. It had to have been one of the worst nights in a while for Selena and she had a feeling this was just the beginning.
___________
A/N: this chapter is FULL of cliches. I usually HATE in movies or books when the girl or guy just walks away without confronting the other person, but it is dramatic and i was going for drama in this chapter lol.
