A couple hours had passed and Madison was in her hotel room with Liz. They got paired for sharing a room. The girls spent their time unpacking, but once that was done Madison had no clue what to do.
She was laying on her back, looking up at the ceiling from her bed. Liz was sitting at the desk in the room and looking through her flashcards.
Eventually Madison got fed up with just staying in her room, so she sat up and looked at her friend, "You know what would be fun?"
"What?" Liz responded as she spun around in her chair.
Madison flashed a smile, "If we all went swimming."
Liz shook her head, "The pool is closed, that would get us in trouble."
"Only if we get caught," Madison stated, "Trust me, I have snuck into many places that I am not supposed to be."
"I don't know," Liz replied, giving Madison a look.
The girl stood up off of the bed and placed her hands on the arm rest of the chair, "Oh come on. It would be fun, plus I heard that breaking the rules with your team gives you luck."
A few seconds then went by and Liz gave a sigh, "Okay. Let's do it. I'll text the team."
"Thank God, I was getting bored in this room," Madison laughed, "Let me go put on my swim suit while you text the team and get ready."
The girl then went into the bathroom to change. She had decided that she wanted to bring her red swim suit, so that was the one she put on.
It was a two piece and had high waisted bottoms, and the top was just a basic bikini top. It was simple, yet Madison loved the way it looked on her. She then grabbed her black robe that she had packed, putting it on to cover up a little bit.
In a few minutes the whole team had met up and bought a bunch of snacks from the candy counter. The only people that they were missing were Ned and Peter. But they had to pass their room on the way there, so Madison figured she would grab them on the way down.
When they got onto their floor, Madison spotted Peter leaving his hotel room. The younger Stark was their designated look out person, so she was calling all the shots. Madison ran forward and gave a huge smile at Peter.
His face looked surprised, "Hey, Maddi."
"Perfect timing, we're going swimming," Madison whispered as she waved to her team, "Come on, come on, come on."
"What?" Peter asked as the team came running by.
They whispered a greeting to Peter as they snuck by, everyone was smiling and laughing, trying their best not to be loud. Flash ran by and smacked Peter on his butt, causing him to yelp and Madison to giggle.
Peter looked and pointed down the hallway, "I was, uh... gonna go study, um, in the business center."
"Peter, you don't need to study. You're, like, one of the smartest guys I've ever met," Madison stated, trying to convince Peter to come, "And besides.. Um, a rebellious group activity the day before competition is good for morale."
"Hmm?" Peter asked, not knowing what Madison had meant.
The girl tucked her hair behind her ear, "Um, well, I read that in a TED Talk, so, I-I heard it in a TED Talk, and Liz read a coaching book."
"Wow, you really... This is really important to you," Peter commented, giving Madison a smile.
Madison nodded her head, "Yeah. It's our future. I'm not gonna screw it up. Besides, I thought this would be a really good way for me to bond with everyone. And we raided the minibar and these candy bars were, like, eleven dollars."
"So get your trunks on and come on," Madison finished as she threw a candy bar at Peter, "Plus we never got to talk at the party, maybe if you come down we could."
"Come on," Charles called, getting Madison to turn around.
She gave Peter a smile and a wink as she ran off, "I'm coming, I'm coming."
Madison and her team got to the pool unnoticed by anyone that worked at the hotel. Everyone was swimming and Madison was sitting on a ledge, her feet in the water.
She splashed water at Flash as he did a flip in the pool, getting her soaked. Madison swam and messed around with her team. However, her mind kept wondering back to where Peter had gone.
The boy never showed, not even after everyone else had left the pool an hour later. Madison stayed by the water, thinking. She was sure he would show up, but he didn't. Did he not care to talk to her? Was Michelle just seeing things, and Peter never looked at her as more than a friend?
Those types of thoughts flowed through Madison's mind as she waited. She stayed for thirty minutes by herself, and eventually she became fed up with it.
The girl left the pool and went to the business center, he wasn't there so she headed to Peter's room. She knocked on the door and a second later Ned answered.
"Where's Peter?" Madison asked.
"Uh, um, what do you mean?" Ned questioned back.
At that Madison pushed into the room, knowing something was off. There was no sign of Peter and the girl turned around, "Where is he? And I swear to God, if you lie to me Ned."
Madison's friend put his hands up in defense, "Okay, Okay. He went after the guys selling weapons."
"He did what?" the girl asked, anger filling her voice.
"He went after the guys selling weapons," Ned repeated.
Madison's eyes grew wide as she felt her hands ball into fist. "I can't believe he lied to me," Madison huffed as she stormed out of the room.
They girl was beyond angry. Peter had promised that he would leave it alone; he had promised her. And he broke it. He lied and snuck behind her back, and that infuriated her.
And now he was out there and he could die, and that for some reason as enough to mix Madison's anger with worry. She pulled out her phone and tried to call him. But there was no answer, and that made her even more angry and worried.
