The school had given Madison permission to stay home for a day, and she gladly accepted it. The girl stayed home and watched movies for some time. All the while she completed the rest of her school work so she wouldn't be behind in any of her classes.
That took up most of her morning, but after that she had gone to lunch with Pepper. Then the two had gotten their nails done and went shopping. During that time Pepper had helped Madison pick out the perfect Homecoming dress, and convinced Madison to finally talk to Peter about everything that had happened.
Madison agreed to it, figuring she should have given Peter a chance to talk back at the hotel. However, when Madison had gotten home she saw Spider-Man on the news.
A ferry had almost gone down when a weapon trade deal had gone wrong. The boat had been broken in half and almost sunk into the water. But Madison's father had shone up and repaired the boat, saving everyone that was on it. Including FBI agents.
"Still think I should talk to him?" Madison asked, changing her mind about agreeing with Pepper.
Pepper gave her a smile, "Yep. You won't know his reasonings for going after them if you don't talk to him."
"He's just going to go after them again," Madison stated, rolling her eyes as she shut off the TV. She didn't want to see the damage anymore.
"Oh, I wouldn't worry to much about that," Tony spoke as he walked into the room.
Madison and Pepper both turned around and looked at Tony. "What do you mean?" the girl asked.
"Let's just say Spider-Man isn't ready to take on criminals yet," Tony answered, giving a simple shrug.
"Did you take his suit?" Pepper asked, crossing her arms.
Tony gave a nod, "Yes I did. People could have gotten hurt, and I couldn't have him out there doing God knows what. Plus he hacked into the suit, turned off all the protocols."
"That kid must be a smart one," Pepper commented, giving Madison a nudge.
"Not smart enough, he still couldn't stay away from what I asked him to stay away from," Madison huffed, giving an eyeroll.
Tony leaned against a table, "Oh don't be to hard on him, Princess. He is still learning."
"Well he can't learn anymore," Madison replied, "You took his suit."
"Princess, you and I both know very well that a suit does not make us who we are," Tony stated, "Just because you are not aloud to use your powers outside doesn't mean you are not powerful. And if you take my suit away I can use everything around me. That's what Peter needs to learn. He needs to learn that he is more than the suit."
"God, you're getting sentimental on me," Madison laughed.
Pepper placed a hand on Madison's shoulder, "You know he is right though. I remember before you even had full control of your powers you were moving rocks all by yourself."
"I know. I know he is right. We've all made mistakes," Madison said as she let out a sigh.
"You're correct. We've all made mistakes. I like the kid, I really do," Tony explained, "He just made a mistake and he needs to learn from it. So if you want him to take you to Homecoming then just talk to him. Hell, I know that if Pepper never let me speak then she wouldn't be standing here now."
Pepper gave a sarcastic nod, "Even though everything you say is something you shouldn't be saying."
"I have to agree with Pepper on that one," Madison smiled.
"That's it. He can't take you to homecoming. You keep bullying me," Tony pouted.
Pepper then crossed her arms once more and gave Madison's father a look, "Tony."
"I was kidding," Tony said as he put his hands up in defense, "But if he touches you I'll do more than take away his suit."
"And on that note, I'm leaving because I don't need to have this talk if I'm not even sure I'm gonna go with him," Madison stated as she picked up her bags and started to walk away.
Madison was already up the stairs as Tony called out, "I'm serious. If he touches you."
"Tony leave her alone," she heard Pepper say, followed by a grunt coming from her father. Most likely from Pepper hitting him.
Madison laughed to herself as she entered her room, setting down her things and flopping onto her bed. She sat there for a few seconds before her phone rang. The girl sat up and picked up her phone.
"Hello," the younger Stark answered.
"Hey what are you doing?" Liz responded.
Madison rolled over on her back, "Nothing. I just got back from shopping for a Homecoming dress."
"Oh good, so you have a dress?" Liz asked.
"Yeah, why?" Madison questioned, wondering why this conversation was so weird.
Liz replied a second later, "I want us to go to Homecoming together. Because we both don't have dates."
"So we would be going as a group type thing?" Madison asked, a little confused.
"Exactly like that," Liz stated, "You would just meet me at my house and then my dad will take us to the dance. And then we would meet up with everyone else."
"Okay, that sounds like fun," Madison smiled, even though Liz couldn't see her.
She heard Liz laugh on the other end of the phone, "Great. Oh and if either of us get a date they can just tag along. Because some people in our group do have dates."
"Cool, so I'll just come to your house Friday?" Madison asked.
"Yep and then we can get ready together," Liz answered, "Oh shoot my mom is calling me. I got to go. I'll see you Saturday."
"Okay, see you later," Madison replied.
The call then ended and Madison smiled to herself. She was happy that she wouldn't have to go to the dance alone if she never got the chance to talk to Peter. Because she knew that the universe wasn't always on her side. But, maybe it would be this time. Madison would just have to find out.
