WARNING: please be aware that there are some graphic and gory descriptions of murder.

Harper Hayes thought that her day was going to be normal but it was far from it. She was awoken at nine in the morning by her phone ringing with a call from her boss, Howard Benson.

"Howard, what's going on?" The raven haired girl yawned as she propped herself against the headboard of her bed. Harper's hair was sticking out in every direction imaginable and she was currently using the sleeve of the hoodie that she slept in to wipe away the remnants of drool off of her face.

"Harper, we need you at Hotspur Way training centre as soon as possible. We have a high profile case and you're one of our best detectives." The urgency in Howard's voice was very apparent and that was enough to fully waken Harper up. Of course, Howard didn't discuss details of the case over the phone, he was far too careful for that. Any and all details relating to any case had to be spoken about in person because he could never be sure of who he was dealing with.

"On my way." The raven haired girl hung up her phone and leapt out of bed. Harper had to rush to get ready. of course she had to be there as soon as she possibly could but she also had to look professional when she got there so she hopped in the shower and when she got out, she slicked her wet hair back into a sleek bun and applied a small amount of makeup.

The drive to the training centre was short since harper lived pretty close by and because everyone was at work, she had missed the rush hour traffic.

Harper parked her car in the car park and made her way across the police barricades, showing her police badge to anyone who asked for it. The raven haired girl found her boss in front of the police tape and when she approached him, she automatically knew why she had been called.

In front of her was a woman's body. It had been slaughtered. Whoever had killed her was violent. Blood was spattered across the walls of the treatment room and the crimson colour was also streaked across the floor. The poor girl had been shown no mercy and Harper was glad that she had skipped breakfast that morning. She had seen her fair share of dead bodies in her career but this was definitely the most brutal of them all.

"Forensics are sweeping the scene but have a look around, take notes and then we'll talk to the team afterwards." Howard broke Harper away from her thoughts and explained to her what would be happening throughout the day.

Without so much as a nod of the head, Harper grabbed herself a pair of latex gloves and crouched down next to the body. Of course, Harper was looking for anything that might give away who they were trying to catch. Items such as personalised jewellery were always helpful but whoever had committed this crime was calculated. They had thought of everything that they needed to do. She could only hope that forensics would come up with something new.

Binning her gloves in the bin bags provided by the forensics team, Harper made her way out to the training pitches where the football team and every other staff member who had access to the training facilities would be present.

Walking onto the training pitches, Harper inspected every person's face carefully. She was trying to see who was sweating with nerves but it was no use. They were all shaking with fear and there was no way that all of them were guilty.

"My name is Detective Harper Hayes and this here is Detective Howard Benson. We'll be leading this investigation." Harper's voice sounded loudly and everyone's heads snapped up at the sound. The detective was still scanning all of their faces, hoping to find a sign of guilt or at the very least, intimidate them. One person caught her eye but not for the reasons that she wanted. A man, maybe only a year younger than herself, caught her eye. His eyebrows were thick but framed his face. His brunette hair was styled perfectly and freckles were scattered across his face.

"As of now, you are all suspects since you all had access to the training centre between the hours of ten pm last night and nine AM this morning. You may be eliminated as a suspect if you can give us a strong alibi." Harper continued. Howard always allowed her to do the talking, it was what she was good at.

Harper Hayes may have been small but she was mighty and she could be intimidating when she needed to be. The girl had made her way through the ranks and Howard had been her mentor. Harper had learned from the best. As a team, Harper and Howard had caught and locked up their fair share of murderers and serial killers which is why whoever had killed today's innocent woman should be terrified because when it came to finding justice, the detective duo were ruthless.

"In order to find out who has an alibi and who doesn't, we'll be conducting interviews," The raven haired girl continued. She had the attention of every member of the team. They were terrified, not because they were guilty but because they had never been in a situation like the one that they were in now. It was foreign to them.

"Starting with you." Harper pointed at the boy who had caught her eye earlier and she watched as he visibly gulped and the colour drained from his face. He looked nervous and that's what harper liked to see. It was the sign of guilt.

"You've got this, Harry. Just tell them the truth." One of his team mates spoke from beside him, slapping his back in an attempt to calm his nerves.

"If you just want to follow me and my colleague." Howard spoke to the footballer as the two detectives lead him down several hallways to their makeshift interrogation room.

Harry Winks was about to be questioned by the police about a murder that had taken place at his football club and he had no idea how guilty he looked.
