In High School, Even on a Good Day, It's Hard to Tell Who's on Your Side (3)
Mia sits in the seat with folded arms and sighs. "Mia--"
"Clay didn't do it." Mia cuts him off.
Mr. Porter inhales, "Do you remember the day you overdosed, Clay came over to your house and you had a verbal confrontation, correct?" he asks.
Mia digs her nails into her arms and nods her head. "I mean...yeah, but he also helped me." Mia states.
"What do you mean?" He questions.
"What I mean is Clay yelled at me. But...you remember how I was. I blamed everyone else for my depression, for my miserable life. But...Clay helped me realize that...I can't blame everyone for my doings. I drank, I did drugs, to drown out my grief. Clay made me face my demons." Mia leans forward beginning to get heated.
She wipes her nose, "He was there for me when no one else was..." Mia nods her head. "When I was in a coma...he was there, every single day. And some of those people know Clay-- I know Clay, and Clay...he's good, he's really good. Everything he does, he does it for the right reasons." She defends.
"What about trying to get drugs off of Bryce?" He asks.
"He did that to get his confession, he fucking got his ass handed to him to get justice." Mia chuckles. "Respect."
She tilts her head and looks at the Sheriff. "And you know you guys didn't do shit to get anyone justice." Mia scoffs.
She looks at Mr. Porter and he sends her a small smile. She squints her eyes, confused.

Mia sits on the bleachers and looks down at her phone, scrolling through different AA meetings. She hears shouting and she looks up at the football field and sees Monty and Clay talking to each other. Mia stands up slowly, she walks over to them. "Hey, Montgomery..." Mia says softly, but there was a coldness lacing it.
Monty looks down at her and she arches one of her brows. "Is there a...problem?" She asks tilting her head.
Monty's jaw tightens and he remembers Mia's threat. But she wouldn't pull a knife on him right now. "Of course, coming to the rescue of your little boyfriend--"
Mia pulls out her knife again. Clay's eyes widen, "Mia--"
"Walk away." Mia tilts her head and her mouth twitches. Monty nods his head and pushes his helmet into Clay. "Come on, Walker...you're not going to stab me at school." He scoffs.
Mia opens her mouth, but Monty interrupts her. "How about we discuss this later in the bathroom, huh?" He winks at her.
Mia's nostrils flare, she takes a step toward him, but Clay grabs her arm. "I will. Fucking kill you." She growls.
Monty points at her and clicks his tongue. "See that, Jensen. Also, someone, you should look out for." Monty says as he walks away.
Mia inhales and closes her eyes. She exhales quickly and places her knife back into her bag. She turns to Clay he looks at her with wide eyes. "You know? About Tyler?" He asks.
Mia's eyes widen, "He told me...one day when I was hanging out with him--wait--how do you know?" She asks closing her eyes.
"He told me, like half an hour ago." Clay answers. Mia nods her head, "Okay...and you. You thought it was a good idea to confront Monty?" Mia asks, with scrunched brows.
"Wait, you're mad at me?" Clay asks.
Mia pinches the bridge of her nose. "Why were you asking about me and my mom?" She asks.
"How did you--"
"Mr. Porter, he told me...before he asks me questions about you...and I defended you! Yet, you are trying to see if my mom and I killed Bryce--"
"Mia, that wasn't...that wasn't it, okay?" Clay says.
"Then what, Clay?" Mia crosses her arms.
"It's just...Ani said something and--"
"Ani...right, I thought you weren't talking to her...unless your couples investigation is back--"
"I don't like Ani!" Clay shouts. Mia stops talking and she stares at him.
"I keep telling you, over and over again. I don't love Ani...I love you." He says.
Mia inhales and she closes her eyes. "I'm sorry, I trust you, of course, I do...I just...y'know what? Forget it..." Mia sighs. "But...you don't really think that I...killed Bryce, right?" She asks.
"I just came across those letters, that's it...I know how much Bryce meant to you." He says. Mia nods her head and gives him a small smile.
"I...I actually have...a lot more, that I have to tell you." Clay says. Mia exhales, "Me too..." She whispers.
"Is it, like things I'm going to need to sit down for or...you can tell me right now?" Mia asks, praying it was the last one.
"I think we should find a place to sit..." He exhales nervously. Mia raises her brows and huffs. "That does not sound good..." Mia says quietly.
"Do you want to...get out of here?" He asks.
Mia smiles, "Please." She says.

The was seated on the bed, Clay looks at the blonde girl as she looks at the picture with tears in her eyes. Clay nods his head, "I'm sorry, Mia--"
"It's not your fault that the students at this school are immature. And it's not your fault that your parents hate me." Mia chuckles nervously.
"No, Mia they don't hate you. They just think that you and I need some space apart." He explains.
Mia nods her head, "They're right." She speaks.
"W-what?--No, Mia--"
"Clay. With everything that is happening with you, my drama is just adding onto yours...I don't--I shouldn't even be here..." Mia stands up and walks over to her bag.
"Mia, stop..." Clay stands up and walks over to her. Mia licks her lips and bites on her bottom lip, to keep her cry from leaving her mouth. She continues to pack her things.
"Hey--"
"I'm bad for you, Clay," Mia speaks. Clay touches her shoulder, Mia turns to him.
"What are you talking about?" He asks with a chuckle.
"Today, I woke up in my own vomit, in a Motel I don't even remember getting," Mia confesses.
Clay felt his heart stop. "I'm trying to get the help I need, but...I can't bring you down with me." Mia looks down at her shoes.
"Is that what you think? That you're bringing me down?" He asks softly.
Mia covers her mouth and cries quietly, "When I'm...off the wagon, I'm bad Clay. And...I just...need to get better, I need to prove to you that--"
Clay touches Mia's cheeks and pulls her into a rough kiss. Tears roll down Mia's cheeks as she kisses him back. Mia touches his cheeks and pulls him closer.
Clay couldn't do any of this without Mia. The reason he was staying strong, was because she was the one who was giving him the strength to go on. Mia's heart accelerates as she feels Clay's hands move down to her lower back.
They both equal each other out. There was no Clay without Mia. And there was no Mia without Clay. Their lips move in sync as the kiss gets more intense.
The door swings open, and Justin walks in. He watches the two quickly separate. Mia touches her lips, Clay stuffs his hands in his pockets. Mia looks down at her shoes, Clay looks at Justin with his cheeks heating up.
"Sorry, I'll--"
"No, no. It's fine..." Mia exhales. She wipes her tears and she looks at Clay. "Do you...really want me to stay?" Mia asks quietly.
Clay looks at her with strong eye contact, "You don't have to prove anything to me. I want all of you, the good, the bad, the...crazy, the lonely, the sad...Mia, I want you...and I can't do this without you." He whispers as he grabs her hands.
Justin didn't know what to do. He wanted to leave, but...this is some soap opera-type shit, the good shit. Then again, he doesn't want to ruin the moment.
Mia gnaws on the inside of her bottom lip and gives him a small smile. She nods her head, "Okay...I'll stay..." Mia whispers.
Mia hugs him tightly and Clay hugs her back. Justin clears his throat, "Uh--Okay...so, we have another roommate!" Justin cheers. "A secret roommate,"
