background: coming from a family of magical individuals, when ryn discovered her powers her parents were thrilled. it was a rarity that she would have control of all four of the elements, but it was a moment to be proud of nonetheless. her mother helped her gain control of the 'quieter' aspects of her abilities: water and air. her father aided with the other half, fire and earth. with their guidance and training, saeryn was 15 when she had complete control of her abilities.

when she was 18 years old, she found her parents dead. she was coming back from school for a weekend at home, and she found them dead. saeryn didn't understand what had happened, only that someone made quick work of her family. she ran out of the house and down the street, banging on doors to try and get someone's help, but by the time someone came to help, it was too late.

she still continued to practice her abilities. though she had nothing, she still had her abilities. she heard from someone about a place named kamar taj. she didn't know why they told her to go, maybe because she seemed hopeless. saeryn needed guidance, in life and with her abilities. the ancient one took her under her wing, not as an apprentice though. saeryn was already a sorceress, just not in the ways of the ancient one. the ancient one kept her eye on her as saeryn studied and grew stronger in her abilities. that's where she inevitably met stephen strange.
