Chapter Three

── ONE YEAR LATER ──

April 5th, 2012

Alessia pulled on her jeans before wandering around the room in search of her black shirt. "Girl, put on a damn shirt!" Aaron's voice echoed through the room, Alessia rolled her eyes as she finally found the shirt she was searching for. "Geez, I'm wearing a bralette so you can relax," Alessia tells him before she sat down to pull on her socks than shoes. "Right, I was just checking if you were awake so you aren't late for work," Aaron informed her as he leaned on the door.

Alessia sat up straight, her sides aching from the mission the team successfully accomplished the previous night. "I appreciate that, Aaron. But I've still got plenty of time," Alessia tells him as she brushed her hair. Aaron shrugged, "So, I heard from Jonas that Nick Fury plans to unite a team. Guess who he wants in it!" Alessia followed him downstairs as she thought deeply, "No clue. Who?" Aaron smirked, "Good ole, Iron Man." Alessia chuckled lightly, "Tony Stark working with a team... Yeah, right!"

Aaron nodded in agreement as Marcus wandered into the kitchen, "Good Morning, Miss Hart, Mr Spencer." Alessia rolled her eyes playing before kissing the older mans cheek. "You can call us by our names, the formalities are getting old now," Aaron informs Marcus as he made himself and Alessia some coffee. Marcus' usual stoic expression remained as he looked at the younger agents. "I have concerns regarding last nights target, Mr Valken," Marcus tells them ignoring Aarons comment.

Alessia tensed slightly, Marcus' usual body language was always troubling for her "Inner Soldier" as she could never read him. Despite the programming wipe thanks to Jonas and Lana, Alessia still had her struggles with the controlled inner Assassin that Hydra's programming created. Her walls typically build in the presence of Marcus, yet he is the person she trusted the most and that would never change for the young raven-haired woman.

Aaron raised a brow, "And the issue was? Valken was the second last step to take down the Tempolize organization. You know, the group obsessed with turning people into "Gods", mutants and powerful beings." Alessia rested her hand on Aaron's shoulder, his tense muscles relaxing under her touch. "Aaron has a point, Marcus. We only have two more steps left and Tempolize will fall, they'll lose everything," Alessia added, her gaze focused on the ever blank man standing before them.

Tempolize. A similar organization to Hydra, a branch. They were hyper-focused on Johan Schmidt's obsession with the Gods and magic. They took people, experimented on them turning them into Super Soldiers before having them undergo many life-threatening situations to mutate their cells and develop abilities beyond this world. The group was where Aaron ended up while Alessia was in a different facility until she was separated from there and the two united at the Siberian facility.

Aaron had developed an ability, the boy nicknamed Inferno by Alina due to his Pyrokinesis. Alessia trained with him often, but he struggled with his power due to the trauma he went through for the ability. Both of them wanted to take Tempolize down, to prevent anyone else from having to go through that pain. Alessia now knew that the man that stood with Viktor all the time is Evan Anderson, the current leader for Tempolize and she was gonna be the one to kill him.

Marcus checked his watch, "I cannot make these decisions for you, I can only be a guide. Miss Hart, you must be going or you'll be late for work." Alessia nodded before kissing Aaron's cheek, grabbing her bag before heading out the door to her '87 Chevy Chevelle SS. The car was inspired by a story she had read called "Ride Or Die" written by a woman named Rose, an adaption of a famous movie called Fast And The Furious. The engine started and Alessia smiled before pulling out of the garage and straight to work.

Alessia walked back behind the counter, placing the notepad down before ripping off the paper and hanging it up for the chef. The door chimed alerting her that there were more customers, she turned her head to see a fairly well-built man with blonde hair. He was wearing a zipped hoodie and some jeans as he walked up to the counter, the man held some familiarity to Alessia but she couldn't pinpoint where from. "What can I get you today?" Alessia asks the man. "I'll get a black coffee and a blueberry muffin, please," The man answered back with a kind smile.

Alessia nodded, "Sure thing!" She got to work making his coffee as the door chimed again, a face that Alessia knew all too well. "Rogers?" Nick Fury spoke gaining the man's attention. Alessia quickly put the pieces together and realised that the man she was serving was Steve Rogers also known as Captain America, a man frozen in time from the forties. She put his order on the counter as Fury turned to her, "Miss Alessia Hart." Steve turned to look at Alessia with raised eyebrows, even he knew that Fury was only informed of good guys and bad guys.

Alessia leaned forward with her arms on the counter, "It's on the house, Rogers. And Fury, it's never a pleasure." Alessia winked at Fury before walking over to the window bench to collect food for other customers as Fury and Steve spoke. Alessia took occasional glances over to the two men as they were now seated in a booth within the cafe, their conversation seemed fairly important and the urge to listen in was almost drowning her. She closed her eyes for a moment, taking in a deep breath before continuing on with her shift.

After work, Alessia made her way out of the cafe waving goodbye to the owners before heading down the street to her car. "Miss Hart," Fury's voice caught Alessia's attention making her sigh before turning around to see Steve and Fury standing together. "Nick, it's been a while. Perhaps we can add more time to that," Alessia tells him before attempting to walk away. "We have an understanding that three Hydra locations have been destroyed along with Mr Valken's death," Fury stated matter-of-factly. Alessia rolled her eyes before turning to the two men, "So what?"

Steve stayed silent as Fury rested his hands on his hips, "You need to understand that these outlaw actions don't just affect you and your team but for us as well." Alessia shrugged before stepping forward. "Listen, Fury, we work hard to take these disgraces down. Last I checked, none of you was doing anything to stop them. Now, you do your thing and we'll do ours," Alessia finished before making her way down the street in the cool New York air. She just knew that Marcus would be hassling her once she gets home, Fury liked to try and involve himself and Marcus isn't the biggest fan of the man.

── ──

"What can make New York crazier than it already is?" Jesse asked as he walked into the room casually sipping from his beer. "What?" Jonas turns to him with raised brows. "An apparent alien attack due to some wannabe God known as Loki," Jesse answered casually while everyone else sat up straight. Marcus turned on the news to show that New York was indeed under attack from aliens. "Suit up team," Marcus demanded before stepping into his office. Alessia and Aaron nodded at each other before they suited up, the sleek body tight suit accentuated Alessia's curves perfectly.

Alessia adjusted her spear-length baton that rested on her back as she braided her hair back and slipped on her mask, "This better not end badly." Aaron nodded as she adjusted his fireproof vest, testing his pyrokinesis to ensure that it was stable for battle. Once the entire team was suited up, they all rushed out of the house and into the streets of New York where people scattered screaming and Aliens roamed freely causing havoc on the city.

Alessia pulled her weapon from her back, twisting the middle handle to extract two blades on either side. She smirked up at the two creatures heading towards her, "Come on... Let's play!" Alessia rushed forward, swinging her double-sided blade before forcing one side into one of the aliens as the other made an attempt to shoot her. Alessia quickly back-flipped before landing perfectly into a superhero stance allowing her a chance to force the blade into the alien's chin, killing it instantly. She turned her head in time to watch Aaron set three of them on fire before pumping his fist in victory making Alessia laugh.

The two agents fought against the aliens back to back, killing one after another as Lana, Alina, Harper and Jonas assisted any civilians that were in danger. Jesse and Marcus kept them updated on the open portal in the sky through the comms, the team working hard to assist the new team Fury created of heroes. "They are The Avengers... Steve Rogers, Tony Stark, Bruce Banner, Natasha Romanoff, Clint Barton and Thor of Asgard. Fury bought them together after Loki had gotten the Tesseract," Jesse explained through the comms.

Alessia sighed heavily knowing that the Tesseract would just cause more trouble than good, though she held no surprise that the powerful object was in the hands of Nick Fury. As she killed more Chitauri, she looked up to see Loki fly above them followed by Natasha. Alessia smirked before pushing off of the ground towards the main highway where she spotted Steve Rogers fighting off the aliens alone. One of them was sneaking up on him, she quickly pulled one of her throwing stars from her belt and threw it into the Chitauri's head.

She walked over to the infamous Captain America and leaned on her staff, "You gotta watch your back, Captain America. They're too sneaky." Steve huffed a laugh before quickly stepping around her, throwing his shield into the four aliens that were approaching them. "Now, we're even," Alessia spoke with a smirk before she walked off towards her team. "Who are you?" Steve called out in their moment of peace. Alessia turned towards Steve with a smirk, "They call me Wraith." And with that, she pushed off of the ground, jumping up onto the side of a building disappearing into an alleyway.

January 6th, 2009

Alessia hit the ground hard, she took deep broken breaths as her eyes squeezed shut from the pain. "You... call... that... fighting..." Alessia panted out with a smirk as blood dripped down her face. The other fighter went to stomp her head, she quickly rolled out of the way and pushed off of the ground, swiping the fighters' feet from under him. She threw one hard punch into the already exhausted fighters face knocking him out instantly, she leaned back against the wall and closed her eyes to steady her breathing.

The door across from her opened to reveal Viktor smiling proudly, the expression only made Alessia cringe. She stood up straight as two guards approached her, hooking their arms around hers to make her walk with them. "We have a mission for you," Viktor says, his arms crossed as he turned around and lead the way through the facility. She lifted her tired head as they reached another door, her eyes widened at the chair in front of her.

She began hyperventilating, "No, no, no, no, no..." Viktor ignored her cries as the guards tried to force her into the chair, the stronger girl managed to get free of their grip and made an attempt to go for Viktor himself. "Get the Soldier!" Viktor ordered once Alessia had snapped the two guards necks. Just as she went to grab Viktor, a metal arm grabbed her throat and forced her against the wall. She clawed at the arm as she looked into the person's eyes, the hollow dull blue showed the lack of control this man had.

The mask that covered his face prevented her from knowing who it was but the familiar person seemed to strike something deep within Alessia's mind as she stopped fighting. She reached out her hand and brushed the loose strands of hair from the mans face, a tear slipped from her eye as his hold loosened. "The chair," Viktor ordered in Russian. And within the next move, Alessia had removed the mask from the man before her causing her eyes to widen, her eyes focused completely on the man she knew... James Buchanan Barnes.

"Tony Stark's quick thinking saved New York City. His heroic actions in flying the nuke into the portal have saved thousands of lives, the new team assembled, The Avengers has had many positive and negative responses," The news reporter spoke, "However, some even talk off other heroes who assisted in the battle. Who are they? Where are they from? And will these heroes ever return?" Alessia finished off her coffee as she watched the video footage from the battle the day before. "Who do you think will do clean up?" Lana asked the impromptu family.

Marcus stood from his chair, "Stark will organize clean up to ensure the alien artifacts do not end up in the wrong hands." Alessia laughed with Aaron, both of them knew that Tony Stark has quite the God Complex since becoming Iron Man. "Yeah, we'll see then, won't we?" Alessia said before making her way into the kitchen, rinsing out the mug before looking at the time. "Jonas, Lana, we gotta prep for tonight's job. Let's do it," Alessia ordered before making her way towards their hub to prepare for their next mission to take down another benefactor for Hydra.
