Chapter 48- Not A Dream

The ship blew her whistle, announcing her departure. But the man who was supposed to sail in her didn't seem to hear it. He was standing in front of me, flabbergasted.

I stood speechless, staring at his deep doe orbs. My heart fluttered just like the first time we kissed. Tears of happiness were patching my cheeks as they rolled down.

I wanted to run towards him, I wanted to shout out loud to the world his name. But my legs didn't allow me to. They intended to stay glued to their place.

After three years, there he was, standing right in front of me. He wore a long thick brown coat on his attire. From one hand he was gripping the suitcase that he had prepared for the journey. Jungkook definitely had lost some weight. But that didn't wash away his alluring beauty.

He was just like I saw him first three years ago. The same gaze, the same innocent eyes...Oh Jungkook, how much I've missed you...

As he saw my figure, the grip on his bag loosened, making it thump on the wooden floor. His chest went up and down fast as he heavily breathed. He was as shocked as me. Jungkook's beautiful eyes glistened with tears. His lips parted, curving into a smile yet he was still in doubt that it was real.

I'm not dreaming anymore, am I? He's real...he was there alive, standing next to me.

Jungkook took a step closer.

"Y/n, love, is that really you?" I've missed him calling me love so damn much, I've missed his voice like crazy.

He looked emotional. I wanted to talk, but something kept my tongue stuck. I kept staring at him, wanting to make sure that it wasn't another dream that never came true.

I felt a cold drop of water on my cheek. Then another drop and another drop. It started raining. The gloomy clouds were giving up their weight, releasing their droplets. The raindrops landed on us, making us both shower from the rain of happiness.

"Y/n, I've missed you so much " his lips moved as he talked. He breathed fast, his eyes welled with tears. It was so realistic. It couldn't be a dream.

He survived...Jungkook survived...

"Jungkook" I managed to stutter out in a quiet voice. It barely came out but I managed to speak. I couldn't control my tears, I didn't want to.

They were happy happy tears after all.

In the blink of an eye, he paced towards me, hugging me tightly. Jungkook took me to his embrace, pressing his warm cheek against mine. I felt his warmth, I felt the tickle as his silky hair bangs brushed against my face. He felt so alive.

His lips intensely kissed both my cheeks. Stroking my hair bangs away from my face, his palms cup my face, pressing his lips against my forehead, letting me feel the warmth of him.

"You are alive, Jungkook, you are here..." My hand reached to touch his face, wanting to confirm whether it was true. His hair was starting to soak from water, water droplets were dripping down his face.

"Yes, I am here Y/n..." he placed his palm up on mine, taking my hand into his. His lips curved into a vibrant smile of relief. I gazed at him, looking at his kind innocent eyes.

"Jungkook" I snaked my arms around him, pulling him to me, tightly hugging him. Oh boy, how happy I was to see him, I couldn't express it in words, I don't know the right words to tell how I felt.

The rain didn't bother us, rather it felt like a blessing for our reunion. It was a shower of happiness that ceased the pain that we suffered all these years.

Finally, we were together again. We'll stay forever this way, together.

"I've missed you so much Jungkook, I've missed you like crazy." my voice broke into a sob as I talked.

"I waited for you Jungkook, I waited for you every second, every minute, every hour..." I whispered in a faded voice through my sobs.

"You said you'd be right next to me,"

"I'm so sorry Y/n, I'm so sorry for putting you through this much pain" his expressions were painful. His voice was filled with regret.

"It doesn't matter anymore..." I caressed both his cheeks, smiling at him through my tears.

Yes, I was smiling again. My happy pill returned. The love of my life was there with me. What more do I require to be happy? I had everything back again.

"You are here with me, we are together, that's what matters" his eyes filled with tears twinkled with joy as I said. He beamed, looking at me with his deep emotional gaze.

His face tilted towards me, brushing his lips against mine. I willingly gave in, feeling his soft lips on me. I held my breath, closing my eyes as we kissed. As my lips parted, he deepened the kiss. I missed his touch, his warmth. I felt alive once again. The dread that that was overwhelming me faded.

The salty breeze wrapped us, gladly embracing the two lovers in its grasp. Jungkook smiled through the kiss. I pressed my forehead against him as we broke the kiss. His eyes closed, intertwining our fingers together as I held his hand.

The ocean shore sang its hymn as it collided with the shoe. The sound of the ocean was like a song of serenity that brought us back together. The bizarre nights I spent wailing for his loss were over.

We stayed like that, embracing each other for a long time. I wanted the moment to last forever. I was afraid of letting him go again. But as I realized that it wasn't going to happen again I loosened the arms that were wrapped around him.

"I knew you made it Y/n, I knew my girl would never give up" he tucked a bang behind my ears, smiling at me like a proud father who saw his daughter win the championship.

"Never let go..." I said, gazing at him.

"Never let go..." he said with a wide smile.

Tonight the Kim mansion was flooding with happiness. The kudos of our reunion brought the light back to our lives. Apart from me and Jungkook, the happiest among us was my brother Jimin. Seeing me smiling again made him smile genuinely.

As soon as we met, Jimin glanced at Jungkook with an unreadable expression. I couldn't tell what he was thinking. Jimin's gaze didn't leave Jungkook until he suddenly pulled Jungkook into a tight hug.

"Thank you for surviving, thank you for living for her...Jeon Jungkook" he patted his back with a sigh of relief.

My eyes softened as I saw how happy Jimin was to see him. Jimin knew how much Jungkook meant to me. The only thing my brother wanted me to have was happiness and tranquillity. And he knew that the only person who could bring me back to life was Jungkook. As glad as I was, Jimin's gloomy stressed expressions faded away.

I freed you from your burden Jimin, you are free now my brother...

Seokjin was enthusiastic about serving everyone with his hospitality. The cosy, warm living room where we were gathered was filled with a pleasant atmosphere. Everyone was trying to settle down. It still felt like a dream to me, all of this.

Both Jimin and Seokjin left the room, giving us some space. Seokjin was glad to company Jimin with a game of billiards in the other room while we remained in the living room

I got seated next to Jungkook.

We had a lot to catch up on. But before anything I wanted to know what happened that night.

"Jungkook, how did you survive that night? How did you survive that bullet Beom Hyeon shot you?"

"Y/n..." He turned to me.

"I never got shot"

A bit short chapter I know. Hope you enjoyed it though. The next chapter we'll see what happened the night they separated. I guess it'll be like two, three more chapters before the story ends. Mostly two I think.
