Terry's POV:
Winning the game was such a rush. Jayden and I had worked together like a well-oiled machine out on the field, and it showed in our performance. As we approached the sidelines, I could feel the adrenaline coursing through my veins. Seeing Hannah and Avery waiting for us, their smiles wide and proud, only fueled my excitement. I shot them a grin, feeling the thrill of victory surging through me.
Hannah was glowing, her eyes sparkling as she hugged me tight. "You did great out there," she said, her voice filled with pride.
I couldn't help but crack a cocky smile, soaking in her praise. "You know it," I said, puffing my chest out a little.
I looked over at Jayden and Hannah kissing, turning back to Ave with a grin. I couldn't resist a chance to tease her. "Hey, I think I deserve a kiss from a pretty lady too," I said, grinning at her.
She rolled her eyes at my comment, clearly not impressed by my attempt at smooth talk. "In your dreams, Terry," she retorted, a hint of amusement in her voice.
Despite her rejection, I didn't let it dampen my spirits. I just chuckled and shrugged, unbothered by her response. Jayden and I bid the girls goodbye, each of us giving them a quick hug before we headed towards the locker room. I tousled Jacoby's hair, earning a giggle from him, and Jayden planted a lingering kiss on Hannah's forehead.
"We'll meet you outside after the press conference, girls," Jayden called out as we disappeared into the tunnel leading to the locker room.
Inside the locker room, the energy was still high as the team celebrated our victory. I felt a sense of camaraderie with my teammates, a bond that came from fighting together and winning together. As we changed out of our sweaty uniforms, the atmosphere was filled with laughter, high fives, and bragging.
I was the last to finish getting changed, taking my time to savor the victory. As I made my way out of the locker room, I saw Jayden running back to the field for whatever reason. I chuckled, knowing that guy never stopped being competitive.
I headed towards the parking lot, the cool evening air refreshing after the intense game.
As I stepped out of the locker room and into the empty parking lot, I expected to find both Hannah and Avery waiting for me. Instead, I found Hannah standing there alone, holding Jacoby in her arms.
"Where's Avery?" I asked Hannah, a hint of curiosity in my voice. Hannah looked up at me, a slight frown on her face. "Tee stopped her at the field," she replied, her voice tinged with frustration.
As soon as I heard that Tee had stopped Avery, I felt a pang of concern. I immediately spun around and started running back towards the field, but before I could get too far, I saw Tee and JaMarr standing there in my path.
JaMarr spotting me, a hint of sarcasm tinged his voice. "Aww, here comes her other boyfriend," he quipped with a smirk.
I bristled at his comment, not appreciating his mocking tone. "Very funny," I said sarcastically, rolling my eyes. "What's going on here?"
JaMarr chuckled at my question, his smirk growing wider. "Her other boyfriend Tee was just having a little chat with her," he said, his tone clearly enjoying my annoyance.
I felt my irritation with JaMarr grow as he taunted me about Tee's interaction with Avery. I was about to snap back at him, but before I could, Tee spoke up, his voice laced with irritation.
"Knock it off, JaMarr," Tee grumbled, his eyes narrowing. JaMarr just chuckled, clearly amused by our reactions. "What, I'm just calling it like it is," he said, shrugging nonchalantly.
I clenched my fists, my annoyance reaching its limit. "You always gotta run your mouth, don't you?" I muttered, shooting a glare at him.
Tee stepped forward, his expression hard as he faced JaMarr. "Enough, man," he said, his voice firm. "Cut the crap."
JaMarr's smirk faded, and his expression hardened as he snapped at Tee. "You're one to talk," he said, his voice dripping with anger. "You're going after my ex-girlfriend."
Tee bristled at JaMarr's accusation, his eyes flashing angrily. "Oh yeah? And what's so wrong with that?" he retorted. "You're the one who messed things up between you two, not me."
JaMarr, emboldened by the rising tensions, decided to push things further. "And it's not like she's anything special," he sneered. "She's just average, nothing compared to the-"
But before he could finish his sentence, both I and Tee pounced on him, our anger boiling over at his disrespectful comments about Avery.
Our anger had reached its limit, and we were both just about ready to throw more punches when we were suddenly pulled back by the coaches. Jayden appeared out of nowhere, grabbing hold of my arm and trying to restrain me.
The coaches stepped in, their voices stern as they tried to break up the impending fight. "That's enough!" one of them barked, his voice ringing out loudly. "Back off, both of you."
I struggled against Jayden's grip, my body still taut with anger. Tee was in a similar state, his breath coming in harsh gasps as he stared daggers at JaMarr.
Jayden, sensing my frustration, took the initiative and steered me forcefully out of the tunnel to then parking lot. The fresh air and the distance from JaMarr helped me simmer down a bit, but I was still seething inside.
Avery's POV:
As I took a moment to regain my composure, I looked up at Tee, my eyes filled with curiosity. "So, what happened after the fight?" I asked, my voice a mix of anxiety and anticipation.
Tee leaned back, his expression calm as he recounted what happened after the fight. "That's pretty much it," he said, a shrug in his shoulders. "We all got suspended for a few days."
I nodded, already aware that the aftermath of fights usually meant suspensions. "Yeah, I figured that would happen," I said, my tone hinting at my disappointment.
I sighed, the reality of the situation setting in. "Well, I guess I should get going," I said, my voice tinged with melancholy. "I have to pack for my flight back to Atlanta later today."
Tee seemed a little deflated by my words, but he tried to hide it with a casual smile. "Right, right," he said, clearing his throat. "Safe travels and all that."
I smiled weakly at his attempt to hide his disappointment. "Yeah, thanks," I said, gathering my things. "Take care, Tee."
Tee nodded, his usual cocky demeanor faltering for just a moment. "You too, princess," he said, his voice softer than usual.
I said my final goodbyes and walked out of the cafe, feeling a pang of sadness leaving him behind. Despite the ups and downs, I couldn't help but feel a strange connection to Tee. With a sigh, I pushed aside my thoughts and focused on my upcoming trip back home to Atlanta.
I arrived at my hotel room, glad to finally have some privacy and peace. Closing the door behind me, I let out a deep sigh and sank onto the edge of the bed. My mind was still reeling from Hannahs pregnancy and the interaction with Tee at the cafe.
I took a moment to gather my thoughts, sorting through the mix of emotions swirling within me. The upcoming flight back home to Atlanta added another layer of complexity to my thoughts. Part of me was eager to get away, needing the familiar surroundings and routine of home, but another part was hesitant, not quite ready to leave just yet.
I got up and started packing my bags, shoving clothes and essentials into the suitcase. As I worked, my mind kept wandering back to Tee, the way his cocky smile could disarm me in one moment and irritate me the next.
I tried to push thoughts of him out of my head, focusing on the task at hand. But it was hard, he had a way of creeping into my thoughts, even when I least expected it. Once my suitcase was packed, I collapsed onto the bed, feeling exhausted and mentally drained.
The sound of the city outside my hotel room window filled the air, a constant reminder of the chaotic world I had temporarily escaped from. As I lay there, the soft hum of the air conditioner lulling me into a state of relaxation, I couldn't help but let my thoughts drift back to last night.
Memories of the previous night flooded my mind, specifically that encounter on the hotel balcony, the passionate intimacy that had sent my body ablaze. I closed my eyes and replayed those moments in my mind, the feel of his rough hands on my skin, the whispered words of desire, the way he had taken me right there, not caring about the open air around us.
Frustration and confusion mixed within me as I recalled the previous night's events. I couldn't deny the strong attraction between us, but the lack of clarity about our relationship status left me feeling restless. Part of me longed for more, for something deeper and more meaningful. Yet, the reality of our situation seemed to pull us back, keeping us in this weird, confusing limbo.
I rolled onto my side, my mind filled with conflicting thoughts and emotions. I knew I needed to have a serious talk with him, to clarify our feelings and intentions, but part of me was afraid of what his response might be. What if he wasn't interested in anything more than just casual hookups?
Realizing the time, I quickly glanced at the clock, my heart skipping a beat in mild panic. I had an hour until my flight back to Atlanta, and I hadn't even gotten ready yet.
I jumped out of bed, suddenly feeling a surge of adrenaline. I had just enough time to take a quick shower, finish packing any last minute items, and call a taxi to get to the airport in time.
With the taxi booked, I allowed myself a few moments to catch my breath. My heart was racing with the adrenaline of getting everything done and getting to the airport on time. I grabbed my luggage and headed out of the hotel room, double checking the door was locked behind me.
My heart skipped a beat as I entered the hotel lobby. There, near the exit, was Tee, leaning against the wall with his arms crossed. Our eyes met, and I couldn't help but feel a surge of mixed emotions.
I hesitated for a moment, torn between wanting to stop and talk to him and the urgency of getting to the airport. Finally, I took a breath and walked over to him, my suitcase trailing behind me.
Tee noticed me approaching, a smile tugging at the corners of his lips. "You leavin' so soon?" he asked, his gaze trailing over me, taking in my hastily packed belongings.
I nodded, trying to keep my voice steady. "Yeah, my flight's in an hour," I said, fidgeting with the handle of my suitcase. "I gotta go."
Tee pushed himself off the wall and stepped closer to me. There was a hint of disappointment in his voice, even though he tried to hide it. "So, no time for a goodbye, huh?"
I rolled my eyes, trying to act nonchalant and hide my real emotions. "Oh, come on, Tee. We both know you'll manage without me," I retorted, the hint of sharpness in my voice.
Tee feigned offense, placing a hand over his heart. "You wound me, princess. Acting like you won't miss me."
I forced a scoff, crossing my arms in a mock-defensive gesture. "Please, you really think you'll cross my mind once I'm in Atlanta?" I replied, my words brimming with sarcasm. Tee chuckled, the sound sending a fluttering sensation through my chest. He stepped closer, his eyes narrowing as he scanned my face, searching for any hint of truth in my words. "Oh, I know I will," he said, his voice dropping lower. "You just can't admit it, can you?"
I tried to keep my guard up, my walls firmly in place. "In your dreams, Tee," I shot back, my tone laced with denial. "You might be the one pining after me once I'm gone."
Tee's smirk widened as he leaned in, his voice dropping to a whisper. "Oh, I have no doubt I will be thinking about you," he said, his eyes fixed on mine. "You'll probably pop into my head a hundred times a day."
I felt my resolve falter for just a moment, the heat of his gaze and the velvety tone of his voice stirring something within me. But I quickly reminded myself that this was just Tee, the cocky, suave athlete who got under my skin way too often.
I huffed in mock annoyance, trying to hide the effect his words were having on me. "Oh, I'm sure you'll be just heartbroken," I said, my voice dripping with sarcasm. "What will you do without your favorite target for your flirting?"
Tee chuckled, the sound sending a shiver down my spine. He stepped even closer, the distance between us now almost non-existent. "Oh, princess, you have no idea how much I'll miss that spark in your eyes when you get all riled up," he replied, his voice practically purring.
Tee leaned in even closer, his lips hovering just millimeters from mine. I could feel the warmth of his breath on my skin, the intensity in his gaze making my heart race. Then, just when I thought he would actually kiss me, he diverted his lips to the side, planting a kiss right beside my mouth instead.
I exhaled a breath I didn't realize I was holding, his sudden gesture catching me off guard. "What are you doing?" I asked, my voice a mixture of surprise and irritation.
Tee's gaze didn't waver, his eyes fixed on mine as he spoke. "You think you won't miss this?" he murmured, his voice low and husky. "The way your body responds to me, even when you're trying your damndest to pretend you don't care?"
Tee's voice dropped even lower, his words sending a wave of heat through my body as he remembered the previous night. "You can deny it all you want, but you can't deny the way I made you feel last night," he said, his eyes darkening. "The sounds you made, the way your body responded to mine... that's proof enough, princess."
My cheeks flushed at his words, my body reliving the sensations he had awakened in me the night before. I wanted to protest, to deny his effect on me, but the memories were fresh in my mind, making my defenses weak.
I swallowed hard, my heart heavy with the weight of our unspoken longing. "Bye, Tee," I forced myself to say, my voice betraying a hint of reluctance.
Tee stepped back, his hands tucked in his pockets. "Safe travels," he replied, his tone casual, but his eyes lingering on me for a moment longer.
As I turned and headed towards the exit, I couldn't help but steal a glance back at Tee. He stood there watching me leave, his expression neutral, but I could sense the hint of disappointment in his eyes. The taxi ride to the airport was a blur, my mind swirling with thoughts of Tee and the goodbye we had just shared. I tried to push him out of my mind, reminding myself that I had a flight to catch. Yet, the memory of his touch, the way he had ignited something within me, lingered in my thoughts, making me uncertain about what lay ahead.
