- The Clave is impressed with your progress - Alec said to his younger brother as he stood in front of him.

- Congratulations Max. They think you're ready for your first mission. What do you think? - Lizzie asked with a smile and she sat on the couch.

- I've been ready since the day I got here - Max said excitedly.

- Well, then you better get your butt over to training. You know how much our sister hates tardiness - Alec told him and a moment later Max left the office.

Clary and Jace entered Alec and Lizzie's office. The blonde girl stood up from the couch and stood next to her husband.

- Any sign of Jonathan? - Alec asked as he looked between them.

- No, we were tracking the box itself but that was a dead end - Jace answered him and the whole group looked at Max who had been listening to their conversation but had left when he was caught.

Jace placed the box on the desk.

- So Valentine sent Duncan to steal a pair of baby booties? - Lizzie joined the conversation.

- Someone did. Someone who wanted to circumvent us from tracking Jonathan - Jace stated.

- And now we have no leads on either of them. We have nothing - Clary informed them.

- Actually, we have less than nothing. There's something you should know - Alec confessed, and Lizzie knew what Alec wanted to tell her brother and Clary. After returning from the library and discovering Jonathan was alive, Alec told her that the Clave didn't have the Soul sword. - The Clave doesn't have the Soulsword. It never did

- So the Clave was lying the whole time? - Clary asked him.

- It wouldn't be the first time - Jace told her.

- The Clave is trying to prevent an uprising. If the Underground finds out we don't have the Soulsword, there will be total chaos - Lizzie told them worried.

- But the Sword's been deactivated. It can't be used on Downworlders - Clary noted in confusion and she looked at the three of them.

- Not in the way Valentine used it before, but it's still a Mortal Instrument - Lizzie told her.

- If you combine it with the other two Mortal Instruments... the Cup and the Mirror, he could use it to resurrect the Angel Raziel - Alec informed her.

- I thought it was just a legend - Clary stated.

- All legends are true. The Angel will grant him one wish... anything he desires - Alec told her.

- The end of the Downworld as we know it - Clary said.

Alec and Lizzie took advantage of the fact that no one was interrupting them and ended up making out. The blonde was sitting on the desk and had her legs wrapped around her husband's waist, who was standing between her legs. The couple kissed passionately until an angry Izzy ran into the office.

- You're not sending our little brother out into the field - Izzy said when she closed the balcony door and looked at her brother and Lizzie, who had moved away from each other and leaned against the desk.

- You know better than anyone how good Max is. His simulation scores are off the charts - Alec told her.

- It's a simulation. I'm talking about the real world - Izzy said.

- Max had his Rune Ceremony. It's standard that after that you get orders, just like we did when we were his age - Alec replied.

- It was different back then. We didn't fight Valentine - Izzy said.

- Izzy... - Lizzie started to speak.

- Yous weren't there with Kaelie that night. He was that close to death," Izzy told them.- Izzy said to them.

- Izzy listen to me, I don't like this idea either - Lizzie confessed a little irritated. - But, we are shadowhunters, so we are trained from childhood to work in the field and fight demons. Each of us went through our first mission, but with the difference is that you are with Max and you can keep an eye on him and advise him when he needs it - The blonde girl noticed.

- That doesn't change the fact that Max is a soldier like us. It's time to start treating him like one - Alec said to his sister, who left the office with a dissatisfied face.

Dorothea Rollins, a friend of Clary's mother, showed up at the Institute. The witch was worried about her friend Elliot Nourse, who she couldn't contact.

Alec and his wife approached Jace, Clary, and Dot.

- After Elliot opened his own shop, we lost touch - Clary told Dot as she, Jace, Alec, and Lizzie walked down the hallway. - But when I was little, Elliot was one of my mother's best friend

- He introduced me to Jocelyn - Dot said and looked at Clary.

- And now you're worried she's in trouble? - Alec asked her.

- The mark on Dot's arm is part of a protective spell - Dot said as they entered the office.

- It's a sigil. It only transfers to another warlock if something terrible happens - Dot said to Alec and turned to him.

- Whatever he's guarding must be pretty important - Alec told her, and Clary looked at Dot, who nodded.

- It's the Mortal Mirror - Clary explained.

- Jocelyn had it? - Jace asked her.

- I know, it's crazy, the Mirror and the Cup. I guess my mom knew Elliot would do anything to keep it safe. As a warlock, he could protect it better than anyone, right? So she entrusted him with its location - Clary told them.

- And Elliot entrusted it to me - Dot stated.

- So you know where the Mortal Mirror is right now? - Lizzie asked, placing her hands on her hips.

- Sort of - Dot said and rolling up her sleeve to show them the sign. - These lines coordinate to specific ley lines in the city. I can figure it out, but it'll take some time

- We have maps of all the ley lines. We can help you - Lizzie told him.

- And we can protect you from Jonathan and Valentine. With those marks on your wrist it's only a matter of time before they catch you - Jace added.

- Jace, Lizzie and I will go to Elliot's shop, see what happened - Clary said to Dot and took her hand. - You'll be safe here

- Be careful - Dot told her.

Jace, Lizzie, and Clary entered the store and looked around. They saw glass and many broken things before they noticed Elliot's dead body on the floor.

- Oh, Elliot... - Clary said when she walked over and crouched down in front of Elliot's dead body.

- See these marks? The demon was here - Jace said as he and Lizzie saw the stains on the floor.

- He was tortured, but it wasn't murder. He killed himself - Lizzie spoke up and looked at Elliot.

- What? How do you know that? - Clary asked her.

- Blood from his eyes. I saw it before. It's a warlock spell. It's basically their version of a cyanide capsule. I'm sorry - Jace explained before they heard the crunch of glass.

The Herondale twins quickly turned around and reached for their seraph blades to defend themselves from the attacker. However, they stopped when they saw Sebastian.

- Hi - Sebastian said and entered the shop.

- Hi - The twins said at the same time, and Clary stood up.

- Sebastian? What are you doing here? - Clary asked when she walked up to him and stood next to Lizzie.

- I, uh... I saw the alert at the Institute. Is everything under control? - Sebastian asked them.

- We're still not 100% sure what happened. There was a demon presence here, but something's not right - Jace answered him.

- Oh my God. It's Jonathan - Clary said in horror. Her eyes went to the withered flowers.

Jace, Lizzie and Sebastian also looked at the withered flowers.

- How do you know that? - Jace asked her.

- The flowers. My mother shared a memory from when Jonathan was a child. He did the exact same thing. And the grey demonic ichor, that's how Valentine described the aftermath of Jonathan's childhood killings. Jonathan was here - Clary answered him.

- Uh, excuse me, who... Who's Jonathan? - Sebastian asked her when he looked at Clary.

- My brother - Clary answered.

- He must be hunting the Mortal Mirror. If he comes for it again, I'll have to deal with him - Jace told them.

- What does that mean? - Clary asked worriedly and looked at Jace.

- It means that we will do everything in our power to protect the Mirror - Lizzie added and crossed her arms.

- Will yous kill him? - Clary asked them.

- If necessary, yes - Jace answered her.

- We don't even know if Jonathan is doing this alone. He could be under Valentine's influence - Clary said.

- Yes, Clary is right. What if Valentine is forcing him to do his bidding? - Sebastian asked Jace and Lizzie.

- Yeah, okay, look... I know exactly what it's like to be manipulated by Valentine, probably better than anyone. Clary, you've read those journals. Jonathan Morgenstern is a monster with demon blood who is responsible for the death of your friend, an innocent warlock - Jace told Clary.

- Don't you remember what Valentine made you do? - Clary asked.

- I don't have demon blood - Jace told her.

- Think about it, Jace. Valentine manipulated us both. What if Jonathan is just another victim of his? - Clary asked him naively. - We don't have any facts, and until we do, neither you nor Lizzie will kill anyone.

- We'll see - Lizzie stated. For the safety of her unborn child, the blonde girl was capable of killing Jonathan.

- Yeah, I think the, uh, priority right now should be finding that mirror - Sebastian stated.

After returning from Elliot's shop Clary, Jace, Lizzie Sebastian returned to the Institute and went straight to the office.

- It's Jonathan, my brother. He's the one who came after Elliot' - Clary said to Alec and she looked at him.

- He's also looking for the Mirror - Jace added.

Sebastian looked at the mark on Dot's wrist, who was studying the Ley lines.

- Sebastian, thanks, but, uh, we're good here - Alec told him.

- Uh, if I can help you with anything, I'd be happy to help - Sebastian offered.

- Thank you, but we'll handle it - Lizzie said with a fake smile. The blonde girl saw something dark and dangerous in Sebastian, but she didn't tell anyone about her feeling.

She even suspected that Sebastian was Jonathan Morgenstern.

- Sure - Sebastian said before leaving.

- So you've narrowed it down to these three locations? - Jace asked Dot as he, Clary, Lizzie, and Dot stood in front of the monitor.

- Yes. Here, here, and here - Dot replied and pointed to the red dots on the monitor.

- Wait a minute. This is the park we used to go to when I was little. Mom and I used to go there when I was a kid. She'd bring a picnic, watch me sketch for hours. It was our place. She hid it somewhere so I'd remember, just in case. It has to be there - Clary told them.

- That's why we need to get there fast, before Jonathan beats us to it - Lizzie stated when she looked at Clary and then at Jace and Dot.

A moment later, the three Shadowhunters and Dot went through a portal that took them straight to the park. Lizzie saw the mark on Dot's wrist glow blue, and the witch herself moved forward.

- You know, Clary, what I said earlier about Jonathan - Jace said to Clary as he, Clary, and his twin sister followed Dot.

- No, it's okay. You don't have to apologize - Clary told him.

- I'm not sorry - Jace stated.

- This is the only family I have left - Clary told him.

- You may not consider me family, but I care about you - Jace said to Clary as he and Clary stopped, and Lizzie followed Dot to avoid a "lovers' quarrel". - Listen, if you're ever in danger, I'll do anything to keep you safe. If that means Jonathan has to die, then so be it

- Clary, the ley line intersection's close - Dot said as she turned to Clary.

Jace, Clary, and Lizzie began walking again until they stopped in front of a statue in a gazebo.

- This is it here. Do you see anything? - Clary asked her and Dot walked closer to the statue.

The woman created a ball of energy with her magic and stuck her hand into the statue before pulling out a small object with angelic symbols on it.

- That's it, isn't it? - Clary asked Dot who looked at them.

- This is the Angel Mirror - Lizzie said with a smile and she looked at the Angel Mirror in Dot's hand.

- Okay, let's go - Jace said to them before he was thrown to the ground by a demon with burned skin.

- Oh my god - Lizzie said when she saw the demon.

- Clary - Dot said to Clary and handed her the Angel Mirror.

The witch attacked him Jonathan with her magic. However, the demon pushed her to the ground and then did the same to Lizzie. Both women lost consciousness.

- Clary, run! - Jace shouted to Clary, and the demon ran up to him and put the blade to his throat.

- No, don't do that! - Clary shouted to Jonathan and she came closer to him.

- You're Jonathan, aren't you? You're my brother. You don't want to hurt me. If you hurt Jace, that's what you'll do - The redheaded girl continued and showed him the Mortal Mirror. - This is what you came for, right? You can take it and go. Or... you can come with us. We can help you. Whatever Valentine told you is lies. Whatever happened in the past, whatever you did, it doesn't matter. You're my family - Clary continued talking, and then Dot appeared and attacked Jonathan with her magic, and Clary appeared right behind her.

- Take the Mirror and go, Clary! - Dot shouted and opened a portal behind her.

- No, not without you - Clary told her panicking.

- This is the only way to protect the Mirror. Go! - Dot shouted at her.

- Dot, no! - Clary called out, and Jace helped Lizzie to her feet when she regained consciousness. He then grabbed her and Clary's hand before them disappeared into the portal.

When Alec found out that Jonathan had attacked his wife, he practically forced her to the infirmary. The man wanted to make sure that everything was okay with her and little Lightwood.

- I'm telling you for the umpteenth time Alec, nothing's wrong with me - Lizzie said, fed up with her husband's overprotectiveness. - Our priority should be finding Jonathan, not babysitting me - The blonde girl said.

- Honey, you need to get checked out first before I think about as catching Jonathan - Alec told her.

A brown-haired woman in her thirties approached them to check Lizzie. The blonde girl lifted her blouse, and the doctor applied gel to her entire stomach and began make the ultrasound.

- Yours baby's okay - The brunette girl informed them, and the young parents listened to her and looked at their child on the screen.

- That's good - Alec said and held his wife's hand.

- Do yous want to hear the heartbeat baby? - The woman asked and she looked at them.

- Yes - Lizzie said with a smile.

The doctor connected the fetal heart rate monitor, and the heartbeat of Lizzie and Alec's baby filled the room.

- It has a strong and healthy heartbeat - The woman said as tears of emotion ran down Lizzie's cheeks. - But I recommend resting for a few days

After finishing the doctor's visit, the Lightwood couple went to their bedroom. Lizzie changed into her pajamas and her husband brought her dinner. Then she fell asleep in her husband's arms.
