In the books, it always turns out ok.

One kiss and happily ever after is inevitable,

But now that I see it, love isn't unquestionable.

In the movies, he'll go to any mean necessary

Fight dragons, destroy every adversary.

He'll change for her, become someone better.

He'll give her the world or just his sweater.

In fiction, he's perfect-

Kind, gentle, and sweet.

He let's her make choices

Nearly bows down to her feet.

He gives her full freedom,

So long as she comes back to him.

He never makes her feel dumb-

Even when she should.

He loves her unconditionally

What what I give to have that for me?

Fiction isn't real.

Love isn't inevitable.

Once you grab the mask, peel and peel and peel-

Underneath all those layers

You find that fiction isn't real.

The hardest thing to remind yourself-

The books and movies you love?

They're lying to your face.

Reality stands behind you

Ready to give you that great shove

And that the fantasy is erased

Because fiction isn't real.

Reality lacks the same appeal.
