Chapter 20

Friday, September 19th - Afterschool

Jimin and Y/N were headed to Y/N's house and as they were on the way, a question popped up in Y/N's mind, "Jimin? Are your parents going to be there at tomorrow's party? Isn't it weird if they are there? But at the same time, how can they leave on their son's birthday?"

"If it's on a weekday, they celebrate his birthday with him and then the party is on the weekend. If it's on a weekend, they spend the first part of the day together and then leave at night before the guests arrive." Y/N nodded, feeling excited for Jihoon's birthday.

"We should write a report on how we've been doing so far... Mr. Yang said that by now we were already supposed to hand in at least two reports." Jimin laughed and gave her a nod. "My dad usually comes back home late on Fridays, ain't that sad?" she crowed as she opened the door with the silver keys.

They set up all of the things they needed as they usually do, both laptops on, a thousand tabs opened, even though both of them hated having many tabs opened at the same time. Y/N usually comes up with most of the ideas and Jimin types them down, sometimes he modifies or adds onto her ideas.

He was already seated on the floor with his email opened up, waiting for Y/N to dictate what to write for their report. "Okay, so, let's start with - Dear Mr. Yang, so far we, Jimin and Y/N have been doing really well with the project..." she waited for him to type down and then continued dictating.

"Dear Mr. Yang, so far we, Jimin and Y/N, have been doing really well with our project. We have already finished up our characters, so we know what their looks and personalities are like. We have finished our rough draft of the first chapter, so today we'll get started with our actual first chapter.

Sincerely, Park Jimin and An Y/N"

"Alight!" Jimin sighed and pressed the 'send' button. "Come on, let's get started with the first chapter!" he said switching to the google-docs tab and named the doc, 'The Jeon Twins, Chapter 1'.

They had a lot of fun writing, mixing their dope ideas together, making some sort of rom-com. They spent two hours and a half writing the first chapter and checking thrice for any mistakes. "I think I've hand enough of typing for today!" Jimin chortled as he held his stomach, even they've read the text three times, it still appeared to be funny.

"Same!" she looked down at her watch after laughing for the millionth time that day, "Oh, shoot, it's already 7:30 PM! Aren't you hungry? We didn't even snack before getting to work!" before Y/N's words Jimin didn't even know he was hungry, but after she reminded him of the existence of dinner, he felt ravenous.

"Yes, I just realized I've been starving all this time, but I was too immersed in our work," he said as he calmed down from his laughter, and turned off his laptop since he didn't need it anymore. "Do you want to try my cooking? Shall I cook for you?" he asked looking down, feeling a bit timid, but he always kept in mind the day when she comforted him and cooked for him.

"You can cook? That's awesome! I would love to try it!" the excitement and feeling of expectation for Jimin's cooking rushed through her veins.

They went downstairs to the kitchen and she watched him cooking, he was very attentive while doing his job. He made sure he sliced each piece of vegetables equally after washing them. Y/N took a moment to appreciate Jimin's rolled-up sleeves. She thinks it's attractive when guys cook and lift up their sleeves just below their elbow. "Take a seat, Y/N. It'll be ready in two minutes." she nodded and sat at her dining table. She was surprised by Jimin's preciseness and by his concentration, even though it was quiet, it was not awkward. He placed the dishes on the table before taking a seat in front of Y/N.

"Wow! Ox bone soup! It's simple, but it's actually my favourite soup!" Jimin was surprised but didn't say anything just yet. He wanted to know Y/N's opinion first, gesturing her to try the food. "Wow! This one of the best soups I've ever had in my life, I swear! You are such a good cook!" she hummed, shoving to soup down her throat as if she didn't eat for a whole week.

"It's also my favourite soup... I'm not a good cook though," Y/N scrunched her eyebrows, waiting for him to explain his words further, "You don't necessarily have to be good at cooking to cook something tasty. As long as you are concentrated, and do everything right, it's fine." his words made a perky laugh escape Y/N's lips.

"You are so technical, Jimin!" she wasn't lying, he had a mix of robot-like and lovely kid-like personality. "But you aren't wrong... what you said makes sense, however, there are some people, who even if they pay attention are just naturally quacks when it comes to cooking..." she pointed at herself as she shoved a spoon of rice into her mouth.

"Eat slowly! We wouldn't want you to choke, now, right?" she giggled and nodded, "Yesterday, my mood was a bit trashy, so I forgot to ask you, how was your date with Jihoon?" he claimed that night as a date on purpose, to see Y/N's reaction and it turned out to be exactly as he wanted it to be, lowkey making him content.

"Jimin! It was not a date! We just went as friends!" she quickly denied, her cheeks slightly pink as she felt flustered at his remark. He crossed his arms as he leaned back into his chair.

"I know, I know, I just said it to make you flustered! Seems like it worked." they finished up their food and cleaned the dishes together. Y/N took the 'more active' task since Jimin had already cooked, washing the dishes meanwhile Jimin dried them and placed them into the cabinet. As Y/N was scrubbing the rice off a bowl, Jimin stood behind her and reached out for the cloth hanging above her head.

Jimin's chest gently pressed on Y/N's back as Jimin brushed his nose lightly against her soft hair, inhaling the sweet scent from her shampoo. Feeling him behind her, she placed the dish down into the sink and turned around. Her face was a few inches away from his, her breath stopped as he stared back down at her. It felt as if their hearts temporarily stopped. "Y/N, do you like Jihoon?" he asked as he finally got a hold of the cloth, but he never extended the proximity between them, instead, he only moved closer.

"J-Jimin... why are you suddenly asking t-that?" Y/N stuttered, but she didn't move away from him either, not only because she couldn't since the sink was placed against her back, but also because she didn't want to. Jimin's frown dropped and his usual neutral expression reinvaded his face.

"Because I need to know... I need to know who is currently winning." she frowned, but didn't say anything yet, she needed him to give her more information before she could comment something, "Don't you know how I am? Only because it's you... because it's you, today I laughed more than I have ever laughed throughout my whole life. Because of you, I'm not jealous of Jihoon anymore since I feel like I'm winning against him. However, that's just how I feel, I need you to verify that I have more points than him... I'll try harder, just tell me who's currently winning..." she noticed his constant usage of the word 'because' which added way more feeling to his speech.

"B-but win at what?" she said, genuinely feeling foggy at understanding what he meant.

What were they competing for?

Even though the answer was right before her nose, just like Jihoon couldn't see it, Y/N couldn't either. She was clueless as if there was a wall stopping her from understanding.

"You," he said before he taking a deep breath to gather as much courage as he could. He's never done what the was about to do, so he was nervous and feared rejection. All he did was lean a few inches forward, connecting his lips gently with Y/N's into a sweet but firm kiss. None of them moved their lips. Jimin closed his eyes but contrasting his actions, Y/N's eyes widened at his unexpected action. She then gave in and placed aside her feelings of confusion between the twins, lightly resting her hands on his chest as she began to move her lips. Jimin cupped her cheeks, his actions were gentle and fragile, even while moving his lips. Parting away from each other, Jimin's heart was about to jump out of his chest. "I guess I'm winning... but don't worry, I know I didn't win yet. I know you are still confused."

Jimin wiped the dish he was planning to wipe with the cloth before grabbing his backpack and looking at Y/N one last time. "See you tomorrow, Y/N!" he said as put on his black shoes. When he was about to leave, Y/N grabbed his arm, stopping him. He turned around to look at her calmly.

Y/N's heart didn't accept nor calmed down from what happened a second ago yet, and she was still nervous.

"J-Jimin... I just wanted to let you know that you are right, you are winning." she was starting to understand the situation and she was finally realizing that her feelings were completely mixed up.

As if that block was gone...

"But as you said, Jihoon still makes my heart flutter..." she pulled his sleeve, pulling him towards her lips once again and he didn't bother to wear his shoes. Keeping his gentle way of acting, he grabbed Y/N's waist, leaning her back on the wall. This time the kiss was more passionate as Y/N ran her hands through Jimin's hair. As they pulled away, both of them gasped for air, remaining a bit breathless from the kiss, "I'm sorry, how could I do this right after saying that Jihoon makes my heart flutter... I don't want to play you guys." Jimin smiled knowingly and finished putting on his shoes.

"I know. By the way, that was my first kiss..." he said shyly, pulling his hood back onto his head.
