Y4 .。.:*☆ Too Good At Goodbyes

A/N ~ *sighs*... here's the (very long) last chapter for fourth year!! ily all so much, hope you enjoy it.

This chapter is REALLY long and every part is important, sooo yeah. Just a heads up :)

ϟ ͛ r⃒⃘

The portkey from Dumbledore's office pulled Y/N's arm with a violent jerk. She gasped, but her voice was drowned out by Rolf's yells of horror.

In less than five seconds, the Scamanders' feet hit the hard ground. Y/N immediately let go of the portkey (which took the of a coaster).

Rolf groaned and steadied himself.

"I- will never- get used to that." He coughed out, scrunching up his face. "How do you feel?"

"Sick." Y/N replied flatly, feeling her lunch churn in her stomach dangerously. She looked up at the wizarding hospital in front of them, which was disguised as a deserted old mall.

"Wotcher, Scamanders," said a bright voice behind them. Y/N and Rolf abruptly turned there heads.

"Hey, Tonks!" The two beamed, as Tonks ruffled their heads, like always. Her hair was now in a long ponytail, and was lavender purple.

"I love your hair today," Rolf complimented, speaking Y/N's thoughts.

"Thanks, Rolfie," Tonks smiled. "I was debating on turning it black, but ended up choosing purple."

"I wish I was a meta-moo-moo." Rolf grinned at the young witch teasingly.

"Metamorphmagus." Tonks said bitterly, punching Rolf's shoulder gently. "You know, you're not funny."

"Don't be daft, I'm hilarious." said Rolf, tossing his nonexistent hair. Tonks laughed and shook her head.

"Is Remus here today?" Y/N asked Tonks hopefully. Her godfather had accompanied them on their first visit to St Mungo's, but was too busy to join them since. Y/N always hoped she could talk to him more.

"Sorry, Y/N, but he's busy at work." Tonks replied, giving Y/N an apologetic look. "Am I not enough?" She asked teasingly.

"You are! You know we love you," Y/N chuckled. Tonks was like that one cool older cousin that got along with everyone. "But I just hoped I could talk to him more."

"I'm going to drag his arse out of work, next week, Mark my words." Tonks held up a pinky confidently.

"OK- chatter, chatter. This street is filthy- can we move along?" Rolf complained, looking around uneasily.

"Right." Tonks nodded and headed to the door of the wrecked mall.

Y/N and Rolf followed Tonks into the creepy-looking building in front of them.

Every Sunday, since the Scamanders' loss, Y/N and Rolf would be sent to St Mungo's to visit their father, along with Tonks, who insisted on accompanying them, as she felt guilty for Alexis Scamander's death.

St Mungo's was busy on Sundays, with patients and healers strolling around the hallways and coffee stands.

Y/N and Rolf weren't expecting much from their fourth visit. Every week, they would just go sit by their father's sick bed and talk to his unconscious body, or sometimes just to each other, while Tonks waited outside.

"Please state your problem," an old lady behind the reception counter croaked.

"Visiting patient, Sean Scamander." Tonks replied shortly.

"Names and relations to the patient?" The lady flipped though her notebook robotically.

"Y/N Scamander and Rolf Scamander, patient's children- and Nymphadora Tonks, co-worker." Tonks replied, rather annoyed. Rolf frowned.

"Ma'am, we come here every week-"

"Ward 27, fourth floor." The lady replied, ignoring Rolf's comment.

"Thanks." Tonks muttered, before heading towards the magicked elevator, Y/N and Rolf following behind her.

"Tonks, are they going to move him to the long-term ward?" Y/N asked.

"We don't know, Y/N." Tonks sighed, entering the empty elevator, and pressing the fourth floor button. "As for now, he has to wake up from the coma for us to know anything further."

"What are the affects of the Cruciatus Curse again?" Rolf asked with a gulp, as the elevator took off.

"Long-term affects are usually memory loss or insanity." Tonks replied quietly. Y/N had already lost all the hope and faith she had since her mother's death, so she wasn't so bothered by the news.

"Wait- Tonks," Rolf broke the silence. "don't Aurors have work on Sundays too? I mean- aren't you busy?"

"Not me, I've only started training." Tonks replied casually. "But I get more tasks as I progress."

"Aurors are cool." Rolf said with a smile. "We, fifth years, had our carrier talk, and I'm interested in becoming an Auror."

"You what?" Y/N asked unbelievable. Surely, her lazy arse brother wouldn't choose one of the most hard-working job out there?

"I think you'd make a wonderful Auror." Tonks smiled.

"Thanks. It means more work, though, but it'll be worth it." Rolf shrugged.

"Who are you, and what have you done with Rolfard Thesius Scamander?" Y/N asked with her eyebrows raised. Rolf rolled his eyes.

"What's better than a badass Auror Hufflepuff?" He huffed.

"Yeah, badass Hufflepuffs are the best!" Tonks chimed in, giving Y/N a wink.

"Fourth floor." Said a robotic voice of a female.

Tonks, Y/N and Rolf stepped out of the elevator and stumbled into the busy and loud hallway.

After three visits, Y/N had memorized exactly where her father's ward was. She hurried after Tonks away from the main hallway.

They reached ward 27 and pushed open the heavy door.

"I'll wait outside." Tonks said gently, holding the door for the siblings.

Inside ward 27 were three beds, and one motherly-looking nurse, Mrs Robbie.

On the first bed was a pale unconscious witch, around Tonks' age, who was moved to ward 27 only a week ago. On the second bed was a kind-looking wizard, who hummed beautiful tunes under his breath all day, but wasn't able to speak.

And on the last bed, was Sean Scamander. Pale, skinny, and unconscious. He looked dead.

Y/N quickly greeted Ricky Jensen and Mrs Robbie and rushed over to her father's bed, before hopping onto her usual stool.

Rolf hurried after her, seating himself on the opposite side of her.

"Will he be moved to the long-term ward?" Rolf asked to anyone who had an answer, not taking his eyes off his father's wrinkled face.

"Possibly." Mrs Robbie the nurse replied, putting a hand on Y/N's shoulder. "It's highly possible that he will end up like the Longbottoms."

"You mean Frank and Alice Longbottom?" Y/N asked, recognizing them as Neville's parents.

"Yes." Mrs Robbie said sadly. "It's a cruel world, really. Their poor son."

Y/N fell silent, as she thought of Neville, her jumpy and clumsy friend- his appearance seemed delicate, but she knew Neville was a brave person.

"I will leave you two, now." Mrs Robbie said gently. "You can always call me over if you need anything."

"Yes, thank you." Y/N gave the nurse a small smile. Mrs Robbie gave the two a sympathetic look, before exiting the ward. Y/N looked back at her father and sighed. "What's the point of this?"

"What do you mean?" Rolf frowned.

"I mean- he doesn't hear us, does he?" Y/N gave her brother a look.

"He doesn't." Rolf replied. "It's not like a normal coma... but it just feels comforting, just talking to him."

"Do you think the Longbottoms know what's going on around them?" Y/N asked. "I mean- they're conscious- moving and eating and all- but do they actually know-"

"They don't." Rolf replied flatly. "From what I know, they even speak. It's just- blank."

"I know he's physically here, but I feel we've lost him." Y/N piped quietly, looking at her father's peaceful face. "What do you think is going to happen to us?"

"Well, I guess it's just simple, really," Rolf shrugged, swatting his puffy hair from his face. "We move into Remus' home- which I've heard is really big- and hopefully, Tonks will realize that she's madly in love with that man and move in too, so we also have her in our family."

"You think Tonks has a thing for him?" Y/N asked with a smirk.

"No shite," Rolf scoffed. "and he totally fancies her too. Every time she talks or laughs he just stares into her soul- it's quite amusing, really. And every time she mentions another man, he gets all grumpy."

"To think of it, the only time I saw him laugh, was when he was with her." Y/N added thoughtfully. "That would be nice. I really like Tonks."

"Our new life doesn't sound that bad," Rolf said, his eyes landing on his father. "It just- could be a lot better."

"We still have people that we love." Y/N shrugged, sighing slightly.

"I guess that's cool." Rolf smiled weakly. "Mum would be so proud of us, don't you think? She wanted us to be happy and live our lives- and here we are, adjusting to everything quite well."

"I miss them so much." Y/N said weakly. "But you're right. She would be proud- we have all these people we love in our lives."

"Speaking of love," Rolf raised his voice slightly. "What's with you and Harry?"

"Meaning?" Y/N raised her eyebrows.

"I mean, is he your boyfriend, now?" Rolf asked, with a mischievous grin. Y/N huffed loudly.

"What if I told you he was?" She asked back.

"Then I will brutally murder him."

"See, this is why I don't tell you anything!"

"Calm down, it was a joke, Niff." Rolf laughed. "I don't mind him. He's awkward, but he's fine. But I will brutally murder him if he breaks your heart-"

"I probably will beat you on that." Y/N grinned. "No one breaks my heart."

"Hey, dad," Rolf looked back at his dad and eyed his sister teasingly. "Y/N's got a boyfriend, now-"

"-And Rolf is dating Luna Lovegood, dad!" Y/N said louder.

"I am not!"

"Yes you are!"

"She is a friend," Rolf stood up from his stool, making a loud screech echo the room.

"Well, Cedric told me you fancy her!" Y/N smiled evilly, standing up from her seat too.

"What? He did?" Rolf's face went pale. "I'm going to kill him! It was a secret-!"

"He didn't, actually... but HA! I KNEW IT! CAUGHT RED-HANDED!"

"You little piece of owl dung-!"

"What the bloody hell is going on?" Tonks came pushing through the ward door, blinking at the siblings in confusion. Y/N and Rolf froze. "Anyone could hear your shouting form a mile away! No bickering in public, remember? Alright, that's it for today, you two. C'mon."

Y/N and Rolf didn't protest, since there was no point in staying any longer. They each gave their father a kiss on the cheek and hurried out of the ward, giving the clueless Ricky Jensen an apologetic look.

"Sorry, Tonks." Rolf said bitterly, as Tonks closed the door behind them.

"I just don't want you two to disturb the other patients." said the purple-haired Auror. "Plus... Dumbledore allowed us an hour- it's almost time, anyway."

ϟ ͛ r⃒⃘

Y/N and Rolf's feet met the floor of Dumbledore's empty office, and they hastily let go of their portkey, before grabbing onto each other's shoulder to keep their balance.

"I think I'm actually going to be sick." Y/N said with a groan. Rolf merely nodded in agreement.

"Y/N?" Said a voice behind the two.

Y/N and Rolf whipped their heads to the back of the room, to find that the office wasn't empty after all. Y/N immediately forgot about her churning stomachs.

"Harry?" She frowned and rushed over to a pale Harry, who's trousers were dirty, from the wet grass outside. She gave him a questioning look and held his face in her hands. "Something's wrong. I know it. Are you alright? Is anyone hurt-?"

"It's- it's Mr Crouch." Harry replied, grabbing her hands shakily.

"You mean Barty Crouch? One of the judges?" Rolf followed his sister across the room, apparently forgetting about his motion sickness, too.

"Y-yes." Harry stuttered, as Y/N frowned at him. "He's dead."

"What?" The Scamanders exclaimed.

"I was talking to Krum, after the meeting for the final task," Harry started. "we went through the woods near the forbidden forest- and his body was there."

"Just like that?" Rolf's face drained from colour. "I- did he look like he was hurt? Or was it-?"

"The Avada Kedavra curse." Harry said firmly. "I just- know it."

"Was there anyone there?" Y/N questioned.

"No. Just Krum and I." Said Harry. Y/N could tell, even after what he's been through his entire life, that he was scared.

"There's an imposter- or more- among us." Y/N said breathlessly. "From your name being put in the Goblet of Fire- to the death eater attacks, and to Mr Crouch being murdered. This isn't a coincidence."

"Harry, do you know where Dumbledore is?" Rolf asked worriedly.

"He's with some other ministry people." Harry replied. "Told me to wait up here."

"Should I wait with you?" Y/N asked the raven-haired boy.

"No. You should go to the common room." Harry said firmly. "The others are there. I'll tell you about everything after, I promise."

"Alright then," Y/N nodded and turned to her brother. "Do you have a place to go?"

"I'm was supposed to meet Luna by the lake," Rolf said, trying not to smile.

"Right, then. See you, Harry," Y/N gave him a small nod, before exiting Dumbledore's office with her brother.

ϟ ͛ r⃒⃘

"Oh, thank heavens! There you are!" Fleur pulled Y/N into an embrace, ignoring a group of drooling boys amongst the busy hallway. "I heard about Mr Crouch- I was just about to return to the castle and Krum came running out of the woods, shouting."

"Yes, I heard." Y/N nodded, as Fleur pulled away. "Are you alright? How was the meeting?"

"Yes, yes, I'm fine." Fleur said breathlessly. "The Quidditch pitch was turned into a big maze. The final task is just to get to the middle of the maze."

"Doesn't sound that bad," Y/N frowned.

"There are obstacles, and the maze swallows people." Fleur said grimly.

"Oh." Y/N blinked blankly.

"I'm not afraid, just nervous." Fleur said fearlessly. "But that doesn't matter right now, the task is not until a while... how are you, Y/N?"

"Me? I'm... better." Y/N gave her a weak smile. Fleur gave her a sympathetic look.

"You can always talk about it if you want to." Fleur said warmly.

"I'm fine, there's nothing to talk about." Y/N replied. She did want to talk about it- but to the right people. Fleur sighed and patted her shoulder gently. "Thanks, Fleur."

"No worries." Fleur beamed. "I need to talk to Madam Maxime, if you don't mind. I will meet you at dinner."

"Not at all. See you," Y/N shined Fleur a smile and watched as the half-veela glided away, down the hallway. She sighed loudly and headed straight to the Gryffindor common room.

"Hiraeth." She said clearly, as she reached the entrance of the Gryffindor tower.

"Welcome home," the portrait of the Fat Lady giggled to herself and swung open. Y/N smiled weakly at her and climbed into the common room.

As usual, Fred, George, Lee, Ron and Hermione were sitting at the back of the room, Ron glaring at Crookshanks heatedly, and Hermione having a discussion with the twins.

"Little Niffler's back!" Fred exclaimed brightly, as the others looked up to see Y/N.

"Do not call me that." Y/N said grimly, as she took a seat beside Ron.

"Harry and Rolf calls you that," George grinned.

"Well, Rolf invented it- wait never mind, he didn't- my mum did. Well, Rolf is my brother and Harry is my-" Y/N opened her mouth but froze, because Fred and George had raised their eyebrows.

"Is your-?" Lee waited, with a slight smirk at the corner of his lips.

Y/N glanced at Hermione and Ron for help, but they were both smirking at her knowingly. Y/N scoffed.

"That's just- besides the point-" she stammered, as the twins started to snigger. Y/N threw them a glare. "Oh shut it, you. If you must know, he's just a..." Clasmate? No. Friend? Yes, but also no.

Suddenly, a light brown owl flew through the opened windows of the common room, fluttering happily and landing on Y/N's shoulder softly.

"Oh, hey Bamboo." Y/N greeted her brown owl. Y/N stroked Bamboo's head and took the letter from the owl's beak.

The twins continued to add on inappropriate jokes, earning laughter form Ron and Lee, and a glare from Hermione who shook her head and turned to Y/N instead.

"Who's it from?" Hermione asked curiously.

"Erm... Tonks." Y/N recognized the Auror's tiny handwriting, as she opened the letter.

'Y/N,

Your father is awake. St Mungo's contacted Remus right after you and Rolf left. He is awake, but unresponsive; he can't speak. He has been moved to the long-term ward. Visitors aren't allowed, for now, I'm sorry.

Also, your things have been moved to Remus's place. Sean's creatures were sent to America and Newt is taking care of them.

Hope you're doing alright. Hope the final task goes well.

Tonks'

Y/N blinked and absorbed the sudden news. She looked up Hermione, who was waiting for Y/N patiently.

"My dad's awake." Y/N said quietly.

"What?" Hermione's eyes widened brightly. "Oh, that's wonderful news, Y/N, congratulations! I'm so happy for-"

"He's unresponsive, Hermione." Y/N said breathlessly. Hermione's face dropped.

"W-what do you mean?"

"The long-term affect of the Cruciatus Curse is memory loss or insanity, remember?" Y/N reminded her, feeling her heart ache as those words left her mouth. "He's basically dead- if not only worst."

Hermione stilled, her lips slightly parted. Her eyes started to pool with tears and her lips trembled.

"Y/N..." she started, reaching for Y/N's hand, but Y/N abruptly stood up, her head spinning. The four boys stopped laughing and stared at her.

"You alright, there?" Fred asked in concern, with no trace of joke in his voice.

"No." Y/N replied truthfully. "I- I need to find my brother."

"What's going on?" Ron questioned, looking up at Y/N drained expression. "We could go with you-"

"No. I'm- I gotta go." Y/N quickly shoved Tonks' letter into her pocket and turned away from the confused group, wishing Hermione wouldn't tell them what happened.

She rushed out of the common room and practically sprinted down the hallways and corridors.

She went down to the grounds, where it was cloudy and slightly chilly. She spotted Rolf and Luna by the lake, sitting cross-legged facing each other. Luna was explaining something to him excitedly, using her hands to illustrate her words.

Rolf was grinning dreamily, listening to the Ravenclaw carefully.

"Hey- I don't mean to disturb you," Y/N said, as she approached the couple. Luna turned to her and smiled brightly.

"Hello, Y/N," she said softly. "have you ever heard of Spinterwings?"

"I... haven't." Y/N replied to her patiently. "I'm so sorry Luna, but can I burrow Rolf for a second?"

"Of course- but he's not mine to burrow," Luna replied thoughtfully, her brows slightly furrowed. "He is fully his own consent."

"Yes- thank you." Y/N smiled at the blonde Ravenclaw gratefully, and quickly pulled Rolf by the sleeve behind a nearby tree. Rolf frowned at her in confusion.

"Something'a up," he acknowledged slowly.

"Rolf, dad's awake." Y/N said breathlessly. Rolf's eyes lit up, just like Hermione's did, but only for a few seconds, as his face dropped.

"But-?"

"But he's unresponsive. He's alive, and breathing- but he's- not our dad anymore." Y/N whispered, her eyes suddenly stinging.

Rolf looked at his feet sadly and nodded understandingly.

"I was expecting it." The brunette said in acceptance. "How are you feeling?"

"I knew, from the second Dumbledore said it was the Cruciatus Curse." Y/N said truthfully. "Our things were all moved to Remus' place, by the way. Things are changing so bloody fast."

"I know, they always are." Rolf shrugged, unaffected by the news. "I've done my grieving. And I'm ready- and excited- for this new life of ours."

"Fulfilling your dreams of being a badass Hufflepuff, big brother?" Y/N grinned at him teasingly. Rolf scoffed and rolled his eyes, but Y/N saw a faint grin on his lips.

"Whatever." Rolf shook his head. "I heard Remus' house is close to Cedric's, by the countryside. That's one convenient thing- I could go hang with him all summer."

"Are you a wizard or not?" Y/N laughed. "The floo system exists, you know? I could go to The Burrow in a blink of an eye if I wanted to."

"I enjoy little things, alright?" Rolf said grumpily. Y/N raised her eyebrows and looked over her brother's shoulder to the tiny blonde Ravenclaw girl by the lake, who was humming dreamily to herself.

"Little things? I can see that." Y/N chuckled mischievously and sprinted away, before her brother could hit her.

"Piss off!" Rolf yelled after her.

"Enjoy your little thing!" Y/N yelled back, before sprinting quickly back up the grassy hill, heading back to the castle.

She chuckled uncontrollably to herself and ran back to the courtyard.

Her laugh came to a sudden stop, as her eyes fell on a group of Slytherins by the fountain in the middle of the courtyard. "You've got to be shitting me." She muttered under her breath.

The Slytherins seemed to have noticed her too, as they stopped their conversation and stared at her as Y/N walked towards the courtyard unwillingly.

Crabbe, Goyle and Pansy gave Malfoy a questioning look, waiting for his orders. Malfoy ignored their glances and smirked.

"Where do you think you're going, Scamander?" He asked loudly, blocking her way. Y/N stopped hastily, not wanting to crash into him.

"Away from you." She replied grimly, not meeting his grey eyes. "Get out of my way, Malfoy."

Crabbe and Goyle 'ooh'ed dumbly, but Pansy cackled louder than the others.

"What're you going to do about it, Scamander?" The Slytherin girl sniggered. "Go run to your mum? Oh wait-" she grinned evilly, as Y/N's face dropped sadly. "Did I hit a soft spot there? Whoopsies."

"Do the world a favor and shut your mouth, will you?" Y/N heard her own voice shake from anger.

"Where is your mum, Scamander?" Pansy continued in her sickly tone. "Having tea with the Potters?"

"Very mature of you, Parkinson, bringing up people's dead parents like that." Y/N said through gritted teeth, feeling the angry tears form at the back of her eyeballs. "Have you ever lost someone you loved?"

"Aw, Scamander's all soft, now," Pansy pouted dramatically. "Although, I honestly am happy for your mother. She doesn't have to live on the same world as you, anymore-"

"Drop the topic, will you!" Malfoy suddenly bellowed loudly. Everyone froze, and Pansy's jaw dropped. Y/N turned to Malfoy's pale face sharply.

"B-but Draco-" Pansy whined, faking a hurt expression.

"I said drop it!" Malfoy said sharply, avoiding Y/N's amused stare.

"But why!" Pansy protested. "She's- Y/N Scamander."

"I told you not to mention her mother." Malfoy hissed through gritted teeth. Y/N looked between them bitterly.

Silence fell, as Pansy stuttered to defend herself. Crabbe and Goyle were swapping hesitant glances, and Malfoy was pink in the face.

There was a long silent pause.

"You could be a good person if you wanted to, Malfoy." Y/N started quietly, and the Slytherins' eyes fell back on her. "you just choose to be a classist git. You were just raised wrong- but you can still change."

"Don't you dare-" Malfoy spat, slowly coming back to reality. "Just because you have an excuse to be pitiful, doesn't mean you have my respect. You're still a filthy blood traitor like your worthless father."

Y/N was surprisingly taken back by this. Malfoy's words have never hurt her before, but that definitely did. Especially after she just received the news about her father.

Her mother's death was all over the Daily Prophet a month ago, but no one really knew about her father, yet.

"Take this however you want, but my father's also gone. So thanks a lot for those supportive words." Y/N said quietly, before pushing Goyle aside roughly, and didn't waste time to walk away from them stiffly.

"Wait- Scamander!" Malfoy called after her. Y/N could've sworn she heard a tint of guilt in his tone, but continued to look ahead.

Y/N felt her vision go blurry, as Pansy and Malfoy's words echoed in her head.

'What're you gonna do about it, Scamander? Go run to your mum?'

'You're still a filthy blood traitor like your worthless father.'

Y/N suddenly gasped, as she felt herself crash into someone and lost her balance. Luckily and coincidentally, it was Harry- still with his pale face and dirty trousers.

"Oh, thank Merlin, it's you!" Y/N sighed in relief.

"Your- your eyes are teary again," Harry said, examining Y/N's face. "What happened?"

Y/N sighed and told him about everything- about her visit to St Mungo's, and about Tonks' letter- how she couldn't visit him anymore, and how both she and her brother had already expected another loss.

Harry had stopped her and wrapped his arms around her protectively, making Y/N fall silent and feel safe from the warmth of his hug.

"You don't have to talk about it if you don't want to, I understand." He whispered, before pulling away from her and looking into her eyes.

"Right... thanks." Y/N smiled up at him gratefully. "So... how were things?" Y/N asked Harry, who put an arm around her shoulder, as they walked back to their common room together.

"About Mr Crouch, or about the task?" Harry asked.

"Fleur told me about the task, so- Mr Crouch. What did Dumbledore say?" Y/N asked curiously.

"I er... it's a long story..." Harry said hesitantly.

"Love it. Go on," Y/N encouraged. Harry sighed and started to tell her about how he managed to accidentally fall into Dumbledore's pensive- which Y/N commented, was like a muggle DVD player.

Apparently, everything Sirius had told them about Barty Crouch, his son, and Igor Karkaroff were true, and worse. Karkaroff had called Crouch Jr out for being a death eater in the pass, which resulted into his own father caging him in Azkaban.

"And he couldn't stop flashing his tongue, for some reason," Harry added, as he remembered the noticeable habit.

"Why were you looking at his tongue?" Y/N questioned, furrowing her eyebrows.

"I wasn't looking, it was just noticeable." Harry chuckled, as they reached the Fat Lady's portrait. "Hiraeth." The couple climbed into the portrait hole, to a completely empty common room.

"I guess everyone's gone, now." Y/N frowned suspiciously around the room. "The twins, Lee, Ron and Hermione were here not long ago. That's odd."

"Huh..." Harry looked around blankly, before a grin crept onto his face.

He suddenly grabbed Y/N's wrist and pulled her around, making her gasp loudly, as she crashed into his arms.

"What are you doing?" Y/N hissed, glaring up at Harry's playful grin.

"I missed you." Said Harry childishly, slightly tightening his arms around her.

"I didn't go anywhere!" Y/N exclaimed, hitting his chest repeatedly.

"It's my birthday."

"What? Your birthday is in three months- are you sick?"

"Oh, take a hint, Niff." Harry rolled his eyes. Y/N scoffed and shook her head, trying her hardest to look oblivious, as Harry held her tightly by the waist. "May I?"

"May you what?" Y/N grinned at him playfully. When Harry gave her a grumpy look, she laughed loudly. "You can just ask, you know? I'll probably say yes."

When Harry continued to give her a bitter look, Y/N cupped his face with both hands and looked him in the eye. "Yes, you may."

Harry's face broke into a grin. He took a breath and dived down towards Y/N's face... but just as their lips barely met, there was a loud yell from across the room.

"ALRIGHT, I QUIT THIS BULLSHIT," Ron said loudly, jumping out of his hiding spot, behind the large sofa.

Y/N and Harry yelled in shock and jumped apart abruptly.

"THAT'S RIGHT- SURPRISE!" Ron said sarcastically, walking across the room.

"Ronald Weasley!" Hermione scolded, also popping up from behind the red sofa. Y/N yelped once more and fell backwards.

"WHAT THE F-"

"You guys ruined it!" Fred said bitterly, standing up from their hiding spot, followed by the groaning Lee and George.

"Idiot, Ron!" George muttered grimly.

"WHAT ARE YOU ALL DOING?" Y/N demanded, her face burning hot with embarrassment.

Hermione blushed in a shame and the twins and Lee shared mischievous looks.

"What are you doing?" Ron asked Harry heatedly. "I am not going to let you snog my sister like that!"

"I'm not your sister!" Y/N yelled over him.

"You're as good as!" Ron snapped, his neck and ears turning as scarlet as his hair.

"Well, she's like a sister to us, too-" Fred shrugged nonchalantly.

"-and we don't mind." George finished, giving Y/N and Harry a wink. Lee and Hermione sniggered quietly beside them.

"It's not like there was anyone in here," Harry said sheepishly, his cheeks pink from embarrassment. "or at least we thought-"

"This is an invasion of privacy!" Y/N said unbelievably to Ron.

"Well, technically," Hermione started with a grin. "it's a common room, therefore, a public space- anyone from Gryffindor can walk in anytime."

"Back me up here, Hermy." Y/N growled through gritted teeth. She then turned to the twins. "You lot! I know it was your idea!"

"What makes you think that?" Fred asked innocently, raising his eyebrows.

"Was it?" Y/N growled. The twins looked at each other and blinked, before bursting into laughter.

"Look, I'm not going to stop you two from snogging," Ron took a deep breath in, trying to calm himself. Harry grinned gratefully. "but- not. In. Public."

"You know, I don't have to listen to you, you're not my brother." Y/N said with a frown. "Even if your were, I'm perfectly capable of doing whatever I like." Ron's face went back to red.

"You little-"

"But out of respect,- fine." Y/N said quickly, rolling her eyes.

"Thank you!" Ron said loudly. Harry sighed and switched disapproving glances with Hermione.

Fred, George and Lee immediately broke into an applause, clapping robotically at the same time.

"What?" Y/N snapped.

"It just sounded right to clap," George shrugged, before ducking to the side, as Y/N threw a velvet pillow towards his direction.

ϟ ͛ r⃒⃘

"I've got a bad feeling about this." Y/N muttered anxiously, swinging her legs, as she sat on a desk and watched Harry review his spells in an empty classroom at night time.

The final task was to happen tomorrow evening, and they've been practicing every spell they know for hours.

"You say that about everything." Harry said tiredly.

"Right, you're right." Y/N shook her head and closed her eyes. "Positive affirmations, positive affirmations, positive affirm-"

"Expelliarmus!" Harry exclaimed. Y/N jerked her head up as she felt her wand leave her hand suddenly, to find Harry grinning at her with her wand in his left hand from across the classroom.

"Is that your way of shutting me up?" Y/N asked bitterly, throwing him a look.

"It's one of the ways." Harry shrugged casually, throwing her back her wand. Y/N felt herself blush.

"Right." She said awkwardly, tapping the desk under her impatiently. "Ready for another round?"

"Alright." Harry drew a breath and steadied himself, gripping his wand tightly in his hands. "Quiz me."

"It's gonna be hard, this time," Y/N warned. "Alright... you walk through the maze and you encounter a dementor. What do you do?"

"Easy one!" Harry grinned, picturing a clear picture of Y/N, laughing, in his head. "Expecto patronum!"

A beautiful silver stag immediately burst from his wand, and trotted around Harry's body energetically, as Harry grinned to himself proudly.

"Wrong, wrong wrong!" Y/N shook her head. Harry's face dropped and his stag patronus faded away.

"What do you mean?" He questioned.

"Right, first of all," Y/N started confidently. "You will not be wasting your time shouting 'easy one!' as a dementor approaches you."

"But it's-"

"Secondly!" Y/N said loudly and dramatically. "I doubt the ministry will let them use Dementors for a school tournament- so if you see one, it's probably a Boggart."

"Didn't think about that." Harry muttered in disappointed.

"Hey, it's OK," Y/N's tone softened, as she watched Harry's expression tense up, from across the room. "we'll just try again, with a new scenario. You ready?"

"Yep." Harry took a deep breath and held up his wand, determined. He gave Y/N a thumbs-up and she nodded firmly.

"You accidentally fall over," Y/N started, "because that's what you always do-"

"Thanks." Harry muttered.

"The maze starts to swallow you up!" Y/N said in a story-telling voice. "There is no one around to help you, and you only have your wand with you- what do you-?"

"Relashio!" Harry bellowed, pointing his wand to a club sigh-up sheet on the wall. It ripped into shreds and fell to the floor.

"Good one!" Y/N beamed, clapping for him loudly, before hopping off the desk and pointing her wand to the shredded parchment on the floor. "Reparo," Harry watched as the sign-up sheet seemed itself and flew back onto the wall. "I think that's all the scenarios I can think of."

"But what if I bumped into a-" Harry thought carefully for a moment, but nothing popped into his mind. "We really did come up with every possible scenario."

"Well, we've been practicing for..." Y/N quickly glanced at the clock on the wall and her eyes widened. "Bloody hell- three hours?! Bed! Now!"

"But should we continue for a bit-?"

"Nope, it's almost midnight, Harold," Y/N fussed. "Where's your cloak? Harry, where's your invisibility cloak-?"

"Hey, calm down." Harry laughed, quickly pulling out his invisibility cloak.

"You can say that when this suicide tournament is over." Y/N muttered, before disappearing under Harry's invisibility cloak.

Ron flipped through Dean's copy of the Daily Prophet, angrily ranting to Y/N about Rita Skeeter, while Harry and Hermione listened to them in amusement.

Rita had released several articles since the one about Y/N and her 'love interests', and it seemed like Y/N wasn't her only target.

Rita was gone from Hogwarts, yes, but still, she was making up drama and twisting words about the Hogwarts students and Professors. Y/N was surprised to see the amount of information the woman had.

"I mean- how does she know Dumbledore's favorite sweet is Sherbet Lemons?" Y/N asked anyone who would listen.

"How does she know that Harry's scar is hurting?" Ron added, his light brows knitted together. "No one in the school knows that- except for us. And she's not even allowed in this school!"

Y/N noticed how Hermione had gone quiet, reading her Runes book under the table, while casually eating her salad.

"Do you know something?" Y/N asked the bushy-haired girl with a frown.

"I have a theory," Hermione declared. "but it's best I stay quiet about it for now."

"Alright, don't tell us then." Ron said grumpily, handing the Daily Prophet back to Dean and Seamus. "Feeling alright, Harry?"

"Yeah. Spectacular." Harry nodded. He was in his champions uniform, and had been pesky all day. "One thing I'm curious about. McGonagall said that the parents of all champions will be here to witness the final task and-"

"You think the Dursleys will come here?" Y/N snorted. "Muggles can't see Hogwarts, Harry- so, they'll need a lot of luck to actually come inside. Honestly, just read Hogwarts: a History, already."

Hermione grinned at Y/N like a proud mum, before continuing with her book.

"But my parents are dead?" Harry acknowledged.

"Is it possible that Dumbledore would invite Snuffles to come watch the final task?" Ron suggested, shoving a spoon full of mashed potatoes into his mouth. "I 'ean- 'e ood 'e izgised aeh a dog-"

"Stop talking, please." Hermione said grimly. "And don't be ridiculous. Dumbledore would never risk Snuffle's life like that."

"Hope you're right." Harry muttered seriously.

When the Quartet finished with their lunch, they quickly went down to the Quidditch pitch, which was now covered in tall walls of green bushes. Y/N gulped as she noticed how unbelievably big the maze was.

The other three champions were gathered at the stands. Cedric, with his father, Amos, Krum with his dark-haired mother and father, speaking rapidly in Bulgarian, and Fleur in the corner, talking to her beautiful mother, father and Gabrielle.

Before Y/N could see who were assigned as Harry's parents, Fleur gasped excitedly and quickly ran down the the stands and dragged Y/N by the wrist to her parents and sister.

"Maman, this is the girl I've been talking about!" Fleur said excitedly. Y/N smiled shyly, as she approached a very beautiful lady and a short balding man. Gabrielle beamed up at her and waved, and Y/N waved back.

"Bonjour," Y/N greeted the Delacours politely.

"Oh, you are a pretty girl! Newt Scamander's granddaughter?" Fleur's mother asked in a strong French accent. She looked exactly like Fleur, with some more mature features.

"Yes- Y/N Scamander, nice to meet you." Y/N said brightly, as the woman pulled her in and  kissed her on the cheek.

"Your grandfather is very famous in our country," Fleur's father said enthusiastically. "My father used to tell me the story of how Newt Scamander broke into the French ministry-"

"Not the time, Papa," Fleur said sternly. Y/N let out an amused chuckle.

"I've heard that story many times, as well." She said brightly. "Good old grandpa Scamander."

The four Delacours laughed melodically, including Gabrielle and Fleur.

"We would love to meet your mother and father some time." Fleur's mother said eagerly. "I know we will love them."

"Oh- my- both my parents recently passed away." Y/N said, her tone dropping slightly. The Delacours stopped laughing and their faces dropped.

"That's horrible!" Fleur's mother gasped. "I'm so sorry, dear. Then where will you stay? You can move to our place! I insist!"

"Thank you," Y/N smiled at the beautiful woman warmly. "but I have a godfather, and he has a very big home for my brother and I. I would love to come visit you guys, though."

"Of course!" Fleur and her father chorused. "You are like family, Miss Balcony." Fleur added.

"Thank you, Fleur." Said Y/N gratefully.

"We will go talk to the headmaster," Fleur's father declared. "You girls can go talk. We'll meet you here when the task starts."

Fleur said goodbye to her parents and sister, before they walked over to greet Dumbledore and McGonagall.

Y/N suddenly spotted Mrs Weasley and Bill Weasley at one of the stands and gasped in delight when she realized they came as Harry's family.

"Fleur, will you come with me to greet Ron's mother and brother?" Y/N asked the blonde witch.

"Of course!" Fleur said brightly, and glided after Y/N, who practically sprinted down the stands and approached her friends, Bill and Mrs Weasley.

"Hello, Mrs Weasley." Y/N said with a smile. Molly Weasley, a motherly lady with locks of red hair, turned to her side and squealed, pulling Y/N into a big hug.

"Oh, hello, dear Y/N!" The witch greeted, over Y/N's shoulder. Still her favorite, Y/N thought triumphantly. Mrs Weasley pulled away and touched Y/N's cheek sympathetically. "I'm so sorry for what happened, dear. You're doing alright?"

"Thank you, Mrs Weasley." Y/N smiled sadly. "I'm doing just fine. I- still miss them, but I'm doing fine."

"Aw, look at you, all grown up and mature," Mrs Weasley grinned at her proudly. "You can always come stay at our place- you are one of us."

"That's surprisingly my second home offer of the day," Y/N chuckled. "I'm moving to our old professor's house. It's complicated, but he's my godfather, you see."

"Oh, we know Remus." Bill said from behind them. He smiled at Y/N, and she noticed (not for the first time) just how good he looked. With his  piercings and long hair- and his broad smile.

"Hey, Bill," Y/N grinned as admiringly.

"Hey, kid." Bill ruffled her hair teasingly- it was probably a Weasley thing. "How's school?"

"Alright. Nothing new." Y/N shrugged.

"How come she's the favourite Weasley, when she's not even a Weasley?" Ron huffed stubbornly, crossing his arms.

Mrs Weasley beamed at her son apologetically and greeted the rest of the Quartet, asking Harry about the final task.

Y/N noticed Fleur standing shyly in the back- shyly in the back. This witch was never shy, ever. Y/N frowned and noticed that Fleur was staring at Bill in amusement, clearly not bothered by his edgy clothes and long hair.

Bill caught her gaze and smiled politely, making Fleur grin uncontrollably.

Y/N smirked and caught Harry's eye, who seemed to also notice Bill and Fleur's interaction. The two each looked away and sniggered.

The Quartet excitedly showed Mrs Weasley and Bill around Hogwarts, asking them about their experiences at Hogwarts, accompanied by an interested Fleur, who seemed overly intrigued by Bill's stories.

After a few hours of chatting and laughing, it was finally time for the final task to begin.

They all hurried back to the stands by the entrance of the maze, which were now flooded with students, teachers and parents.

Y/N hugged Fleur good luck and waved over at Gabrielle, before following her friends to wish Harry and Cedric good luck.

"Good luck, Cedric," Luna said dreamily, as Cedric high-fives her adoringly.

Luna and Rolf's foreheads had the word 'DIGGORY' painted in big bold letters, and they were waving the two Hufflepuff flags excitedly.

"You'll do amazing, Ced!" Rolf thumped Cedric on the back enthusiastically.

"Thanks Rolfie," Cedric beamed, messing up Rolf's hair.

"Good luck," the Quartet said politely. Cedric gave them a nod, before turning away to go talk to his father.

"I'm already proud of you, Mate!" Rolf shouted after him, earning one last smile from his best friend.

"I'm getting butterflies- and not the good kind." Y/N said almost breathlessly, feeling sick to her stomach. Something was off about that evening, and she didn't know what, exactly. But the feeling was sickening.

She threw herself into Harry's open arms and hugged him tightly, not wanting him to let go just yet.

"Please be careful- I mean it." Y/N muffled into his chest, as the crowd cheered louder and louder, chanting their cheers.

"Yeah, of course." Harry chuckled, hugging her back just as tight. "I'm The Boy Who Lived, remember? I'm probably immortal, at this point."

Y/N laughed and kissed the side of his neck, once, before pulling away, Hermione and Luna watching them in adoration, with Ron and Rolf scowling from behind.

"It's time, Sonny!" Mad-eye Moody called loudly from the entrance of the maze, making Harry jump slightly. He nodded, shining Y/N a grin, before following Cedric to the front of the crowd.

Flitwick's band had started playing Hogwarts' March, and the Beauxbatons students were doing a repetitive dance. The Durmstrangs cheered as Krum fist bumped his friends.

"HELLO LADIES, GENTLEMEN, AND OUR NON-BINARY FRIENDS," Came Ludo Bagman's echoing voice. The crowd went crazy. "WELCOME TO THE FINAL TASK OF THE TRIWIZARD TOURNAMENT!"

More cheering from the stands.

"Are our champions ready?" Bagman asked. The four champions merely nodded, all pale in the face. "I'll take that as a yes! So! For our final task, champions are to compete and go through our obstacle-filled maze! Whoever gets to the Triwizard cup in the middle of the maze first, wins the tournament! Easy and straightforward!"

"Easy and straightforward, Harold!" Y/N cheered brightly. Harry gave her a weak grin, feeling his insides churn dangerously.

"Champions may send red sparks into the air to call for help," the round-faced Ludo Bagman continued, "but will be eliminated from the task immediately. Remember- easy and straightforward."

Luna and Rolf cheered excitedly, waving the yellow and black flags above their heads. Y/N felt her head spin. Something bad was going to happen and she could feel it.

"Since Mr Potter and Mr Diggory are tied in first place," Bagman announced, "they will be entering the maze first, followed by Mr Krum, then Miss Delacour."

Y/N cheered loudly, so Fleur didn't feel discouraged. The half-veela turned back and gave her friend a hopeful smile.

"Mr Potter, Mr Diggory," Bagman's voice became suspenseful. "On the count of three-"

POW!

"Again, Mr Filch?" Y/N heard McGonagall scold the caretaker sternly.

"Never mind, off you go, champions!" said Bagman brightly, trying to contain the frustration in his voice.

Harry's eyes widened slightly, in alarm, as he was pushed to the entrance of the maze by Moody's cane. Y/N noticed the Professor flashing his tongue out quickly, before having a sip from his flask. She frowned curiously.

"You alright there?" Rolf nudged her roughly.

"Y-yeah, it's just... it's nothing." Y/N wished she could remember why that tiny action was so familiar. She broke her gaze from the professor and watched as Harry and Cedric disappeared into the maze.

Y/N waited, and a few minutes later, Krum was let into the hell hole, followed by Fleur.

All the champions were officially out of sight. The crowd sighed and some booed, as they were left to watch the tall bushes.

"Well, this is exciting," Rolf said sarcastically.

"It really isn't." Luna said seriously, sitting back in her seat, fidgeting with the Hufflepuff flag Rolf had lended her.

"Was it this boring for the second task?" Y/N asked Ron.

"Yeah- except we had to stare at water." Ron said with a loud sigh, before throwing himself on his seat. "And now we wait."

Y/N waited quietly and anxiously, as Luna and Rolf started to play a lame guessing game, and as Hermione and Ron started bickering about some rule in the book Hogwarts: a History.

People were starting to pass out drinks and snacks, as they mumbled to each other in boredom.

Almost forty minutes have past, and there was a red spark shot into the air, from somewhere in the middle of the maze.

"Oh, shit." Ron swore, standing up steadily, while everyone watched as Fleur Delacour's body was delivered back to the entrance of the maze.

The moment her feet touched the ground, the half-veela jumped into consciousness, gasping for air and breathing heavily.

"Fleur!" Y/N ran down the stands and pushed past the nosy crowd to check on her friend in concern.

Fleur's clothes were dirty and her hair was messy. Her eyes were full of fear and her whole body was trembling.

"Th-the maze!" She exclaimed. "The walls- Krum-! He- he attacked m-me!"

"Shh, it's OK!" Y/N put a comforting hand on her friend's back, as Fleur's family came rushing to her, rapidly shooting her questions in French.

"One champion out!" Ludo Bagman announced, with the top of his wand to his throat. "Three remaining! Well done, by the way, Miss Delacour- you did really well!"

The students clapped politely, and Y/N and Gabrielle gave Fleur a quick hug.

"Krum crept up behind me!" Fleur continued in horror, not accepting anyone's smile. She walked her way through the crowd of students and approached McGonagall. "Miss! Victor Krum used a r-really b-bad curse on me! It felt like I- I was g-getting stabbed from everywhere!"

Silence fled the crowd as those words left Fleur's mouth. Y/N felt her throat go dry. Ron and Hermione's mouth fell open. Even Snape had a look of horror on his face.

"Why, that's-" Professor McGonagall looked horror-struck. "I will sort that out, Miss Delacour. Please follow Madam Pomfrey to the first-aid tent.

"It's over now, Fleur," Y/N whispered quietly, rubbing Fleur's back gently. "You're alright, now."

Poor girl looked traumatized.

"It's was h-horrible!" Fleur whispered breathlessly, as Madam Pomfrey escorted her away, to the first-aid tent, pushing through the curious crowd.

Y/N saw Professor McGonagall whisper something to Igor Karkaroff, who listened to her without moving a muscle.

Y/N went back to her friends and brother in the stands, her face feeling numb and blank.

"You know what this means, right?" She asked them quietly.

The four nodded, looking just as horrified as she was. Y/N had read before, somewhere, that using Unforgivable Curses in the tournament was not allowed, no champion has ever used them against each other before.

"I can't believe Viktor would do such thing," Hermione whispered.

Y/N wondered, if Harry was knocked out, and no one walksed past his body, will anything in there eat him up?

Not long after Fleur's arrival, Krum's unconscious body was sent back- but unlike Fleur, he did not wake up right away, so he was delivered to the hospital wing, inside the castle.

"Seems like Hogwarts will be winning this year!" Bagman announced, as the Hogwarts students applauded. "But who will it be? Mr Diggory or Mr Potter?"

The next minutes turned into hours. Every minute went by as slow as ever. Harry and Cedric were still roaming around in the maze.

But it had been almost three hours, surely, they should have already returned or at least get sent back? What was taking them so long?

Just as Y/N was about to quit waiting and fall asleep, there was a loud crack sound in the air, causing everyone to jump violently. Y/N's eyes darted to the entrance of the maze, and the crowd burst into loud cheers.

Harry and Cedric were back- with the glowing Triwizard Cup with them. Y/N yelled in joy and clapped happily. The band started to play Hogwarts' March, once again.

"He did it! I knew it!" Y/N exclaimed excitedly.

She smiled at Ron and Hermione, who also celebrated Harry's triumph with everyone else. But what caught Y/N's eye was Fleur's expression.

She was extremely pale in the face and wasn't smiling. She stepped away from her mother's embrace and stared at Harry and Cedric, before letting out a loud horrible scream.

Y/N's face dropped and her hands immediately went cold. She quickly pushed everyone aside and rushed to the two champions. She let out an identity scream to Fleur's. Harry was crying. Cedric was dead.

The Hufflepuff's eyes stared into nowhere and his body was stiff and pale. There was no life and no soul behind his chilling gaze.

At this point, there were a few people that had noticed that something was wrong- some screamed, and some burst into tears.

Dumbledore quickly came forwards and tried to pull Harry away from Cedric's body.

"No- no! Please-!" Harry cried, holding onto Cedric's body desperately, tears running down his dirty face.

Y/N felt tears of shock and pity run down her own face as she watched the horrific scene. She froze, rooted to her spot, as the music and the cheers continued loudly and blindly.

"What happened, Harry?" Dumbledore asked in deep concern.

"He's back- Voldemort's back!" Harry said hoarsely, his face glazed with sweat and tears. "Cedric- he asked me to bring his body back! I c-couldn't leave him- n-not there."

"The boy's dead." Ludo Bagman whispered breathlessly, as his eyes fell on Cedric's still body. "EVERYBODY, STOP!" The man bellowed.

The band immediately stopped playing and the applauses faded away. People hurried to the front and their faces fell in horror, as they witnessed the hysteric boy and the dead body.

Cho stepped through the crowd and gasped loudly, before bursting into tears- her blonde friend screamed with the others. The cheers have now turned into gut-wrenching cries. Hermione sobbed and buried her face into Ron's chest. Ron looked like he was about to pass out.

"No- no, it can't be-!" Amos Diggory pushed Y/N aside unintentionally and froze in front of his son's dead body. He dropped to his knees and cried, "N-no! th-that's my son-! That's m-my boy!" He cried uncontrollably as the professors gathered around to comfort the man. Amos held onto Cedric's body desperately, and sobbed.

Y/N suddenly realized something, and looked around in panic, for her brother. No, no, no- poor Rolf. To her horror, she saw Rolf appear amongst the new group of gasping students. He paused for a second as realization stretched across his face.

"No- Cedric-" The brunette shoved everyone aside and rushed to his friend's body. Y/N turned away painfully, as her brother fell to his knees and let out an identical cry as Mr Diggory's.

He had already lost his mother and father, and to watch his friend- his best friend, since the first day of school- lying dead in front of him, made his heart shatter again. Never coming back. Gone. Just like his parents.

Rolf sobbed loudly, his whole body shuddering, as he held onto his friend's cold and lifeless hand.

"Too young. Too soon..." Madam Pomfrey whispered, with a hand on her chest.

Luna appeared from the crowd and went after Rolf. The tiny Ravenclaw's pale face became even paler. She winced as Rolf let out another cry, tears running down his freckled face.

She bent down slowly and gracefully and put a hand on Rolf's shoulder, before pulling him into a hug. He closed his eyes and cried into her shoulder quietly.

Y/N couldn't watch the scene any longer. She tore her eyes away from Cedric's body, and turned away, ready to comfort Harry. But he was nowhere to be seen.

Y/N frowned and scanned her eyes around- he really wasn't there. But he was just next to Cedric's body a second ago... someone else was also missing.

"Moody..." she muttered to herself. And suddenly, to her horror, she suddenly remembered why Moody's tongue movement seemed familiar. Harry had told her that Barty Crouch Jr had a habit of flashing his tongue. That's why he was always helping Harry... He wanted him to get to the cup... it was all planned. Moody was Barty Crouch Jr...

"Professor Dumbledore!" Y/N exclaimed in panic, through all the buzzing noise, her heart racing out of beat. She approached the old wizard and tugged on his sleeve. "Please, Professor! Professor Moody- he's- it's a long story, but I think he's Barty Crouch. He took Harry- somewhere! They're gone!"

Snape looked at her weirdly, and Professor McGonagall gasped softly.

To her surprise, Dumbledore didn't question her suspicion, instead, he nodded understandingly.

"I've suspected Mr Krum was under the Imperius Curse." He said quietly. "Will you please wait here, Miss Scamander? Get everyone to calm down and do whatever Professor Flitwick tells you to do." Dumbledore turned to Snape and McGonagall. "Minerva, Severus, I think it's time we catch the imposter."

Snape and McGonagall nodded once and the three professors headed out of the pitch, back towards the castle.

Y/N was forced to look back at the heart-breaking scene, and felt tears form in her eyes again, as Amos and Rolf were forced away from Cedric's body.

Hermione walked forwards and wrapped an arm around Y/N's shoulder and guided her back towards the stands, where the Weasleys were talking rapidly to each other.

"Do you reckon You-Know-Who's really back, Mum?" Fred asked Mrs Weasley quietly.

"If Harry says so, then yes," Mrs Weasley said shakily. "I am afraid our world is getting darker and darker every moment. Oh, poor Amos."

Bill was hugging a frightened Ginny, who looked shaken up and had tears of shock running down her face.

"Y/N, where's Harry?" George asked, as Y/N and Hermione approached the redheads.

"He- he was taken." Y/N said quietly, not knowing how to phrase her words. The twins looked at each other and frowned. "By Professor Moody... whom I think isn't actually Mad-eye Moody."

"What?" The Weasleys and Hermione exclaimed.

"It's a long story, but Harry's safe." Y/M said assuringly. "Dumbledore knows."

Mrs Weasley nodded understandingly, but her face was plastered with concern.

"Everybody, please return back to the castle!" Squealed the tiny Professor Flitwick, jumping up and down around the stands, guiding people out of pitch. "Weasleys- please return to the castle! You too, Miss Scamander, Miss Granger."

Y/N said goodnight to Fleur and the Delacours, before Hermione and Ron dragged her out of the chaotic place.

Y/N didn't even pay attention, as her feet took her back to the castle and her body slipped into her pajamas. She didn't even notice herself fall asleep, that night.

"Today, be acknowledge a terrible loss." Dumbledore's voice echoed the silent Great Hall. Y/N saw Rolf bring up a hand and wiped a tear away in frustration.

Luna whispered something to him softly and he nodded, letting his tears fall without shame.

"As you all know, Cedric Diggory was hard-working," Dumbledore continued. A good amount of people were sobbing quietly, and Y/N held onto Harry's hand tightly. Harry's body shook from trying to contain his tears of grief and guilt.

"Therefore, it is fair I let you all know what exactly happened to him." Dumbledore declared. "Cedric was murdered by Lord Voldemort... I'm afraid to inform that the dark wizard is back."

The hall started to buzz with whispers and mutters, but Dumbledore quickly silenced them, and continued calmly,

"Cedric was not only fair-minded, but was also a beloved friend to many. Let us raise our wands and share a moment of silence in remembrance of our fierce, fierce friend..."

ϟ ͛ r⃒⃘ /*

A month past since the final task- since the day of Cedric Diggory's death. No matter how many times his friends tried to assure him out of his guilt, Harry still felt like Cedric's death was his fault. He could remember every single detail of that day.

The way his own body was jerked, the moment his fingers touched the cup, the way the green light from Wormtail's wand hit Cedric's body, to the way Voldemort's body was renewed from the cauldron.

He tried to offer Cedric's parents his Triwizard money, but they declined him kindly, making Harry even more guilty.

"Harry. Harry?" came a voice from the entrance of Harry's dorm. Harry turned around to see Y/N standing by the door, with her bags in her arms and her hair pulled into a loose bun.

"Hey." Harry said hoarsely, giving her a small smile.

"You ready? Everything packed?" Y/N asked him with a returned smile. "You know, you should come to say goodbye to Fleur with me."

"Yeah. Of course." Harry answered bluntly, swallowing hard. Y/N sighed and came over to sit next to him on his bed.

"How's your arm? Can I see?" Not waiting for an answer, Y/N gently got hold of Harry's arm and examined the cut Pettigrew had gave him. It was cut open quite badly, even after a month, it looked horrifying. "He's really back."

"I can't believe I trusted Moody." Harry said painfully. "I mean- the real Moody is probably a nice bloke, but I can't believe I didn't realize our Moody was Barty Crouch."

"Don't tell me you're still blaming yourself for all of this." Y/N started quietly. "For- for Cedric's death,"

"But I am to blame," said Harry croakily. "He was 'the spare'. Everyone thinks-"

"No one thinks what you think, Harry." Y/N said firmly, looking at him fiercely. "Half of the world doesn't even believe that Voldemort's back, and the rest fully understand that it was something no one was able to stop."

Harry didn't say anything, but nodded sadly. She was right- no one would've been able to stop the murder.

Y/N gave him a warm smile and stood up.

"Let's go, before it's too late and Fleur murders me." She said with a grin. Harry smiled, gathered his stuff and Hedwig's cage, before leaving the empty dormitory, after Y/N...

"If you don't write back, I'm going to come back here and drag you back to France, myself." Fleur said threateningly to Y/N, as the Quartet said goodbye to her.

"You've developed Y/N's scary humor," Harry chuckled, earning a glare from Y/N's direction.

Ron was hiding behind Hermione, trying not to get himself to fall for Fleur's Veela magic.

"You, come here," Fleur smiled at Ron. He slowly slipped from behind Hermione and flushed red, as Fleur bent down and kissed him on the cheek. "Until we meet again, Rob."

"Ron." Y/N reminded her quickly.

Fleur chuckled and gave Y/N another longing hug.

"I'll miss you a lot, Miss balcony." She pouted over Y/N's shoulder.

"Still sticking with that nickname, huh," Y/N laughed, as the blonde pulled away from her. "Will miss you too, Fleur. Au revoir,"

"Au revoir, Y/N. Hope me meet again, Harry." With another beautiful and sly grin, Fleur waved and glided back to her headmistress, before joined the other Beauxbatons students.

Y/N sighed and looked back, to see Viktor Krum whispering something to Hermione, then saw her blush furiously.

"Bye," Hermione whispered. Krum gave her a kiss on the cheek, earning a nasty glare and a growl from Ron.

"You OK, man?" Krum frowned at Ron in concern. Y/N and Harry had to turn away to hide their laughter. Ron froze and hesitated for a moment.

"I- er..." he stuttered.

"Just ask him!" Y/N hissed mischievously.

"Ask me what?" Krum questioned.

"Willyousignthisforme?" Ron blurted, pulling a quill and parchment from behind his back.

Krum raised his thick eyebrows, slightly taken back by the sudden action, but he was mostly amused. He gladly gave Ron his signature and disappeared into the crowd.

After a short pause, Harry, Y/N and Hermione burst into laughter.

ϟ ͛ r⃒⃘

"What did you say to the twins, back there?" Y/N frowned, as Harry jumped down from the scarlet Hogwarts Express, carrying his trunk and owl cage with him.

"I gave them my prize money." Harry said simply, with a shrug. Y/N's jaw dropped in shock.

"The thousand galleons?" She asked unbelievably.

"Shh, it's a secret, alright?" Harry grinned. "It's for their joke shop." Y/N scoffed and shook her head. She looked around the nostalgic train station and slowly breathed in the summer air.

Ron and Hermione came struggling from the back of the train with all their belongings, Hermione passing Y/N Bamboo's cage.

"Thanks, Hermy." Y/N grinned and took her brown owl from Hermione's hand. Hermione grinned around the place happily.

"Two months until our next journey, I guess." She sighed heavily. "It's been a long year."

She grinned down mischievously at the glass jar in her right hand, with a tiny buzzing insect inside it.

"I still can't believe you caught her," Ron eyes the girl in slight amusement and slight fear.

Hermione brought the jar to her eye-level and looked at the beetle in it. The beetle had round black striped around its eyes, and buzzed loudly, like it was screaming at Hermione.

"A little uncomfortable in there, Rita?" Y/N grinned in satisfaction. She turned to the proud-looking Hermione. "What're you gonna do with her?"

"Dunno," Hermione shrugged. "but let's just say she won't be turning into her animagus self and nose around other people's businesses anymore."

She popped the jar happily back inside her bag.

"Aaaand Harold Potter is still popular." Y/N said sourly, eying a pair of fifth year girls that were giggling by, shining Harry flirtatious looks.

"Someone's jealous." Ron snorted, looking between Y/N and Harry knowingly.

"Of course, she's jealous," Hermione huffed. "if someone was eye-flirting with my boyfriend, I would be jealous too."

Even after months, Y/N still found herself blushing when anyone made comments like that.

"Bye, Harry!" Said a random third year boy.

"Good luck, Potter!" said another.

"See ya, Scamander!"

"Have a great summer, you four!"

At the end of the day, it was heartwarming just to see people say a simple goodbye to her, even if it was someone she barely ever talked to.

The Quartet smiled and said there farewells to their friends, as they headed towards the barrier, to go back into the Muggle World.

But after Ron and Hermione disappeared through the barrier, Harry caught Y/N's wrist and pulled her back, just as she was about to go head after her two friends.

"I- I didn't want to do this in front of my Uncle, so..." Harry let out an awkward laugh. Y/N frowned at him, but knew exactly what he was talking about. "You know, since the day after dance practice, we were kinda distanced from that stupid misunderstanding, so we didn't really get the chance to-"

But he was stopped- Y/N had grabbed the front of his shirt and pulled him close to her, connecting their lips. Harry's eyes widened in surprise for a moment, but slowly melted into her touch and wrapped his arms around her waist, kissing her back, just as passionately. Harry felt swooping feelings shooting down his spine, as Y/N gently grabbed a fist full of his hair.

Luckily, they were in the middle of a big and busy crowd, so no one really noticed anything.

After what felt like days, Y/N finally pulled away from Harry and quickly turned her head away, because she had started to blush the hardest she had ever blushed in her life.

"You've gotten good, haven't you?" She asked breathlessly, not looking at Harry's green eyes.

"I- I guess that's what waiting does to you," Harry said, his eyes slightly wide and his face and neck bright red. "I'll miss you, Y/N."

"That will not happen regularly, OK?" Y/N said with a sheepish grin. Harry smiled down at her and put an arm around her shoulder.

"Is that a self-reminder?" He asked teasingly.

"Where do you get your sudden bursts of boldness from?" Y/N laughed, as the two walked together through the barrier, back into the muggle King's Kross station.

Ron was with his three other siblings plus Mrs Weasley, pushing his trunk onto a trolley, and Hermione was already chatting excitedly with her muggle mother.

"Oh- there's my godfather. Remus!" Y/N waved brightly at the grey-haired Remus Lupin, who was waiting next to the Weasleys. He gave her a soft smile. Harry quickly pulled his arm away from Y/N's shoulder, as she went forwards to give Remus a quick hug.

They've only seen each other once since the day of Alexis Scamander's death, but Y/N already felt like she had a warm bond with her godfather.

"Hello, kiddo. Hello, Harry." Remus gave Harry a small smile. "Been a rocky year, I'm guessing?"

A sudden feeling choked Y/N slightly, not seeing her mother or father picking her up from the station like every other year.

But Harry and Remus' smile quickly pulled her away from the depressing thought.

"Bye, Y/N!" Ron waved enthusiastically from the group of redheads. "See you soon, Harry!" The rest of the Weasleys waved at the two warmly and headed away, towards the entrance of the station.

"Write to me, Ron!" Y/N shouted after them.

"You bet!" Ron saluted.

"See you guys," Hermione approached Y/N and gave her a long sisterly hug. "Ugh, I miss you already."

"I'll miss you a lot, Hermy." Y/N said with a grin.

"So glad to have you as a friend, Y/N." Hermione chuckled. She pulled away and gave Harry a quick hug, before waving at them one last time and leaving the station with her parents.

Y/N had just noticed the red-faced Dursleys in the corner- they were all looking around in fright, as all the witches and wizards walked past them. Vernon Dursley grunted in frustration.

"That's my cue," Harry sighed, trying not to roll his eyes. "See you, Niff,"

"See you, Harold." Y/N said with a small smile, still blushing from the event that happened behind the barrier.

"Not even a hug?" Remus nagged, as Harry walked away to the Dursleys awkwardly. "Not even a goodbye?"

"Oh, we've said our goodbyes," Y/N blushed, her tone a little too obvious. Remus raised his eyebrows, but didn't ask her anything more.

Moments later, Rolf appeared from the barrier between platform 9 and 10, with a chuckling Luna by his side.

"Oh, hello." Rolf paused for a second and grinned politely at Remus.

"Hello, Rolf." Remus helped the boy with his bags and held his owl's cage for him. "And you're Miss Lovegood, if I recall?" Luna let out a small excited gasp.

"I remember you, Professor Lupin." She said brightly, shaking Remus's hand. "Rolf, you didn't tell me your godfather was our favourite professor."

"That's really sweet of you, Luna," Remus said and nodded politely at Luna's blonde father, who happily approached his daughter.

"Have a blessed summer, Rolf." Luna waved at her best friend happily. Rolf smiled and waved back.

"Promise you'll write to me?" He asked the girl.

"Yes, I'll be sending plenty of postcards." Luna promised, with no tone of sarcasm. She and her equally unique father gave them one last wave and followed everyone else out of the station.

"Ah, am I the single-one-out, here?" Remus wiggled his eyebrows at the two kids.

"I'm sure Tonks with fix that for you." Y/N said sweetly. Rolf burst into a snort of laughter, thumping Y/N's shoulder.

"Young lady, I can ground you." Lupin said, but he was smiling widely.

"We'll have so much fun, living with you." Rolf said happily. The boy didn't realize how much those words meant to Remus, who's been all alone since the loss of his friends, almost thirteen years ago.

"So..." Y/N said finally, feeling a weird bittersweet sensation in the pit of her stomach. "Lead us to our new home, Moony."
