"Why did you want me to stay home again?" Harper asked her dad, who was sitting on the couch. She walked up to him and sat down. Tony put his arm around her shoulder, causing Harper to lay her head down on his shoulder.
"Just, you know. Family bonding." Harper looked up at Tony. "You know I can read minds right?" Tony just laughed and smiled. "Well, I've decided to give Peters suit back." "That's awesome! He deserves it you know." Harper exclaimed.
"Yeah. I mean me taking it was just the boost he needed." Tony stood up and held his hand out, Harper grabbed it and stood up. They both started walking towards the meeting room.
Harper saw Peter looking out the window, and Happy watching him. "Oh- there they are." Tony said with his hands in his pockets. "How was the ride up?"
Tony stopped in front of Happy. Happy hesitated a bit then answered "Good." "Give us a minute with the kid." Tony pointed to Harper and then Peter. "Seriously?" "Yeah." "We gotta talk to the kid." Harper chimed in, arms crossed.
Tony nodded while looking at Harper, Tony then started walking away grabbing Peter. "I'll follow close behind." Harper then walked up patting Happys shoulder "How about a loose follow." Harper smiled then ran up to Tony and Peter.
"Sorry I took your suit, I mean you had it coming. Actually it turns out it was the perfect sort of tough love moment that you needed right? To urge you on Right? Don't you think?"
Peter started talking but then was cut off. "Lets just say it was." Tony then sighed, Harper still walking with them. "Mr. Stark I rea-" "You screwed the pooch hard. Big time." Tony said looking at Peter. "But then you did the right thing, took the dog to a free clinic, raised the hybrid puppies." Harper chimed.
"Alright, not the best analogy." She then whispered realizing how stupid she sounded. "I was wrong about you." Tony said, pointing at Peter. "Think with a little more mentoring, you'll be a real asset to the team."
Peter looked at Harper then at Tony. "T-T-To the team." "Yeah, theres about 50 reporters behind that door. Real ones not bloggers." Harper rolled her eyes at Tonys comment. She watched as Tony hit his watch two times to open up doors to show Peters new suit.
"Surprise." Harper said, doing some jazz hands. Peter smiled. "Alright well when your ready, why don't you try that on. And I'll introduce the world, the newest avenger. Spider-Man."
Peter started walking up to the suit, trying to find the words to say. "So after the press conference, Happy will show you to your room." Tony said looking at Happy.
"Your next to Vision, I would be careful he tends to use the walls as doors." Harper said, rolling her eyes remembering the time he walked in on her changing. "Yeah." Tony said. Harper noticed Peter was actually not all that excited.
He walked up to Tony and sighed. "Thank you Mr. Stark. But I-I'm good." "Your good- How- How are you good?" Tony asked. "I mean, I'd rather stay on the ground for a little while. Friendly neighborhood Spider-Man. Somebody's gotta look out for little guy right?" Harper smiled at Peters words.
Tony took of his glasses. "Your turning me down? You better thing about this. Look at that." Tony pointed to the suit, Peter looked. "Look at me." Peter then looked at Tony. "Last chance, yes or no."
"No." Peter said dryly. "Okay, thats kind of a spring steamy working class hero vibe that I dig. Uh Happy will take you home." Tony put his glasses in his suit then at looked at Happy for confirmation. "Yup?"
"Yeah." Happy respondedΒ "Mind waiting in the car? I need a minute." Happy asked Peter, Peter looked at Happy then at Tony. "Thank you Mr. Stark." Tony shook Peters hand, then walked away. Peter quickly turned around when he heard the doors close.
"That was a test right." Harper looked at Peter confused. "Theres- uh- nobody back there?" "Yes, you passed. Alright skidaddle there." "Thank you Mr. Stark, thank you!" Peter exclaimed walking away again.
Harper looked in between Happy and Tony, who were looking at her. "Oh you meant me too? Uh I'll just. Okay." Harper walked away, going towards Peter.
Once the two made it outside Harper went up behind him and hugged him. "Whats that for?" Peter said, Harper stopped hugging him and walked next to him.
"Well for one, that dance last night. It was fun. And for two, listening to my advice about the whole Avengers thing. Cause we may seem cool but trust me its just drama and missions, we never get a break."
Peter smiled and grabbed Harpers hand to hold. "The dance was fun. And well ever since the ferry incident I've just learned to trust you and follow your advice." The two started walking towards Happys car, still holding hands.
"I can't believe the Tony Stark said skidaddle." "Trust me, I know. Sounds like something some would say out of a movie." Harper said, laughing.
Once they made it to the car, they turned around to see the compound. "This isn't gonna last long you know." Harper said, Peter looked at her. "What do you mean?"
"Well, my dad tries to hide it but it's obvious him and Steve are not on good terms. And its not the same, Its not the way it was before. Its too quiet, theres no laughing. Nothing. And their could be a threat that not even my dad could take. What will happen because my dad will not have the guts to call Steve."
Peter just sighed. "Well, maybe their won't be a threat. Definitely not a big one, like when Thors brother came to earth and destroyed the whole city." Harper laughed. "Yeah, I remember that. I may have been very young but I remember that. You know I got to see the Hulk throw him around the tower. It was kind of cool."
Peter looked worried. "Cool? I would be terrified. The hulk could end me, whenever he wanted. No thanks." "You should see Clint. He may only have a bow and arrow but in action he is insane."
Peter smiled, "He is extremely underrated. No one I know ever talks about him." Harper sort of shrugged, not surprised. "Well he did retire like 5 times so." Peter just laughed.
"Well, I'm gonna go back inside. See the big announcement my parents came up with." Harper said, connecting her lips to Peter. When she broke the kiss, she smiled.
"I'll see you tomorrow?" Peter said. "See you tomorrow." Harper said, walking away to go inside. "Also Peter, About the whole girlfriend thing. Yes. I would love to." Harper turned around and said. Peter looked at her weirdly. "I can read minds idiot." Harper laughed turning back around, walking inside.
When she got inside she walked in to the conference room. "There she is." Pepper said, when the door closed behind Harper. Many reporters started taking pictures of her, she waved and walked down to where her parents were standing.
"What's going on?" Pepper showed her the ring on her finger. "We're getting married." Tony said, Harper sighed "about time." Tony and Pepper looked at each other confused.
Harper walked up behind them and gave them a hug and a kiss on the cheek. "All I ask is to not have a boy." Harper smiled and walked away from them, walking out the conference room.
Tony raised an eyebrow, and Pepper just shook her head. "That is your kid." Pepper said pointing to Tony. "Mine? Thats yours. You pushed it out your weird...area."
"weird area Tony, really?" Pepper said smiling, and kissing Tony on the lips.
