KAMARIA WOODS
JANUARY 8th, 2008.
TUESDAY 11:31 am

KAMARIA CLIPPED THE back of her necklace, then straightened it to make it look presentable on her chest.

Rubbing her moisturized lips together, she picked up her perfume from chanel, and began spritzing it all over her body.

Finally, she picked up the hair moisturizer sitting on the dresser in front of her that had a mirror attached, and put some in her hands. After rubbing them together, she ran her fingers through her ponytail so that when her hair dried it would stay how she liked for it to be.

She had her natural hair styled so that it was in a rubber band style in the front with black rubber bands, going into a ponytail at the back of her head.

For her outfit, in was windy outside, but the sun was out so she based that on her outfit.

She had on a pair of high waisted ripped jeans, with a light blue long sleeve shirt folded half way up so her lower stomach was showing, and a cropped white jacket on top of it. On top of the jacket was a cropped black puffer vest, and topping off the look she wore it with a pair of black boots.

(Like so.)

Today, kamaria was getting picked up to go to lunch with Bianca since she agreed the prior day.

Simone was slightly wary of it, but she appreciated that kamaria was getting out the house since she had been cooped up since the incident.

And affection 'cause I'll be your protection.
Kinda hard job, but I do it to perfection.

"And you can tell that I ain't tryna let you go.
I get wit you when I can, so that's how I let you know." Kamaria sung the next line to the ciara and bow wow song, like you, softly.

She loved bow wow so much. He was her man, she just wouldn't tell Samir that because she knew he would be heart broken.

After fixing her clothes to look how she liked for them too, she started cleaning her area. Putting all her hair, and face products up. Then she hung her empty hangers back up in her closet.

After that, she turned off her radio, and then grabbed her crossbody purse putting it on her body, then she left her room.

She made sure to close her room door behind her. The entire house was eerily quiet, because Kyaire and Samir were at school, and so was kyree. Then, Simone was at work so she was in her home alone.

Making sure she had her key, she walked out of her home making sure to lock the door. She then took a seat on one of the porch chairs.

Bianca had called letting her know she was on the way , so she knew she would be there soon. She crossed her right leg over her left one comfortably as she waited.

She waited all but three minutes until her step mothers high class vehicle pulled up to the curb in front of her house. She then immediately stood up, and made her way down the porch steps jogging to the passenger side , and easing in.

She knew Sarai wouldn't be attending because Bianca made sure to let her know of it. "Hey," kamaria greeted her softly, reaching for her seat belt while she was in the gist of pulling off.

"Hey girl, I like your outfit." Bianca complimented since she actually liked her style. She could make a lot of things look good. "Your little jacket and vest are cute." She expressed.

Kamaria began blushing. "Thank you so much, my boyfriend got them for me." She spoke softly playing with the zipper on her cropped hoodie.

"Aww he did? That's sweet." Bianca nodded her head. She truly didn't know the dynamic of their relationship and how close they were since it was a new thing to her. She thought it was cute that he bought things for her though, a lot of men older then him struggled with those type of things, and they were only sixteen and seventeen.

"It is," Kamari a looked out the window not wanting to talk about him because she would just miss him even more. "Where are we eating?" She questioned.

"At keke's, I hope you don't mind. I love their food." She apologized since she knew it was a lunch date type of thing but keke's served breakfast foods, with a few exceptional lunch foods. She was just in the mood for their French toast , they were so good.

"In Clearwater?" She questioned since it was a city over.

"Mhm, you don't have anything else to do right?"

Kamaria raised her eyebrows, but shook her head no at the notion because it was fine. "Your paying right, because I want a burger, and some Belgian waffles." She added just to be sure.

She had brought her own money in her small purse just incase but she would rather her pay. "Yeah." Bianca nodded, keeping her eyes on the road.

Kamaria nodded in approval as if she was impressed, before she got quiet, and starting to scope out the interior of the nice car.

Before she knew it, they were pulling up, and it seemed to not have many guests since most of their customers were at school or work around this time of day on a weekday. On weekends they were packed, wall to wall.

Once they got out the car, and went inside, bianca and kamaria were led to a booth by the middle aged waitress at the front. "Can I start you two off with drinks?"

"Can I have a wild berry sangria?" Bianca asked sounding proper. "Thank you."

"Uhhh," kamaria thought for a moment, "y'all have strawberry lemonade, with strawberries inside?" She questioned gaining a nod. "Yeah, that please. Thanks."

Once she nodded and started off, kamaria averted her eyes to bianca. She was studying her mannerisms as bianca was oblivious to the fact, instead eyeing the lunch and breakfast menu.

It was going on 12:30 so both were being served at the time.

Kamaria had to wonder, what was her dads type truthfully? Bianca and her mother looked slightly similar when it came to the physical traits. That was where the similarities ended though.

They were nothing alike internally.

Bianca had a more preppy personality, and sophisticated, no offense to Simone who had the more fun and playful personality. Bianca wasn't snobby or anything, she just seemed to have a more mature aura. She was still very nice.

She just focused on things like her posture, and the way she spoke.

Considering her father had cheated on Simone with Bianca, kamaria figured it was the latter.

"Here you guys go," the waitress showed back up with their beverages placing them in-front of them with straws. "Are you ready to order?"

Bianca's went first, "can I get the French toast grilled until it's golden, with cinnamon and powdered sugar on top. And a chicken Cesar salad with extra Parmesan cheese on my dressing in a cup."

She nodded writing it down while kamaria eyed her, "I can get anything I want?" She reiterated, and Bianca giggled like a little girl nodding her head. "Okay, can I get the strawberry Belgian waffles with powered sugar, a cheese steak panini with onions and bell peppers and cheese with nothing else, and a cheese burger with only ketchup...and—and some fries." She listed feeling her mouth water.

The waitress laughed at her excited state, "is that all?"

"Wait wait, and a plain toasted bagel with plain cream cheese." She added, and this time bianca had to laugh.

"Also, can I get a sunshine bowl with only yogurt, strawberries, honey, and oats." Bianca added finishing off the large order.

"Yep," the waitress nodded finishing off before strolling off.

"Sorry, I swear I wasn't that hungry until it was time to order." Kamaria scratched the back of her neck. She couldn't lie she was purposely pushing her luck, but it worked in her favor because bianca had no complaints.

"It's okay." She nodded, folding her hands in front of her like kamaria was since their menus were gone. "So, I know a lot went down last weekend. How are you?" She questioned kamaria.

"I'm —" kamaria paused her statement. "I don't really know." She admitted with a sigh. "Sometimes I feel okay, but then I just randomly remember and don't feel okay anymore." She shrugged.

Bianca's face slightly fell, "I'm really sorry about what happened to you kamaria." She was sincere. "I want you to know your father feels really bad for the way he reacted. I think it was just too much going on at once." She still advocated for him.

"I guess." Kamaria muttered not knowing how to feel about him, or her sister at the moment.

"If you don't mind, could you explain what happened? Only if your comfortable." Bianca was curious.

Kamaria looked off to the side, "could you tell me what happened with you and my dad first?" She countered, this was a trust type of thing and kamaria wanted her to earn hers first.

"Nothing much, it's not anyone's fault but ours. Things have been sort of rocky between us, but this weekend just caused a lot of problems—not saying it was because of you." Bianca put her palm up.

Kamaria nodded slowly.

"I think your father has a tendency of thinking money is the solution to everything, and some people may feel it is, but not things such as family and emotions you know. He used that in place of his absence and expected me to be grateful of whatever I got. I make my own money, I don't need his, I married him because I loved him not because of his money. He's just changed." She expressed , not wanting to go into too much detail.

"Did you know he and my mother were together when you guys got together?" She asked the lingering question that had been having her in curiosity since she could remember. It was probably why she strayed away from her so much.

Bianca brought her straw to her mouth taking a sip, appreciating how good it tasted. "I knew about your mother, but I didn't know they were still together." She spoke honestly.

Kamaria tilted her head.

"I mean, of course I asked about any other women but obviously he wouldn't tell the truth. He said he had a six month old son, and a baby mother. He took me in public, introduced me to his family, let me meet Kyaire, all of that. So I never thought twice that he was lying because at least he would be more discreet. Then I ended up pregnant, and that's when everything hit the fan and me and your mother found out about each other." She said, shocking kamaria.

She never would've guessed he was so careless. And for her dads side of the family to accept her knowing about her mother whom was sitting at home with a fresh baby left a sour taste in her mouth.

"Sometimes, when I think about it I feel so bad. Your mother was at home, taking care of your brother and going through postpartum while your father was living a second life with me." She rubbed her eyebrow awkwardly, "she was way stronger than me though, I give her that. She left him in the dust, even though she was pregnant with you, while I stayed with him and worked it out because I was already head over hills for him and pregnant with Sarai ."

She hesitated before continuing, "thats why sometimes I just try and keep my distance from her, and going in your guys home and stuff. Yeah, we were both heart broken when it happened but I ended up with him and marrying him, and she didn't." She felt bad for saying it.

"So, wait back track— he introduced you to his family, and Kyaire, and had you in public while my momma was in the house learning to become a mother?" She reiterated, shocked.

The fact that after all this time kamaria was just now learning the story, it baffled her. She didn't expect anything like this. She thought maybe it was a one time thing that created Sarai and then once her parents separated he pursued her. They had never even stopped.

"Yes. They were playing two faced and both sides. They were welcoming me while knowing he was cheating on his long time girlfriend. That's why I don't associate myself that much even though they accept me. Who is to say that they would never do that to me if they already haven't." She went into deeper depth.

"I never knew you didn't associate with them." Kamaria pointed out, taking a sip from her delicious lemonade.

"You don't know a lot about me." Bianca laughed.

Once she said that, their original waitress and another one who was being a helping hand, started coming out with their food, starting with the breakfast foods.

Kamaria ran her tongue over her bottom lip at the sight of her waffles with cut up strawberries on top, glazed in syrup and powdered sugar. Bianca felt the same way looking at her fresh French toast with a generous amount of powdered sugar.

They came back again now with the lunch foods and kamaria could feel her stomach growling. Once they excused themselves, and all the food was served, kamaria decided to eat her waffles first.

"So, what's something else I don't know about you then." Kamaria continued the conversation, surprising Bianca. It felt weird to say this was the most they probably ever talked one on one.

"Uhh i don't know, the sophisticated part of me wants to say I love reading." Bianca shrugged taking a bite from her French toast, then picked up her spoon to eat from the yogurt bowl. "The other side would say, imma bartender at a strip club four nights a week." She nodded.

Kamarias lips parted, and her eyes got wider. "Are you for real? You not too old?" She mindlessly questioned, stuffing a fry in her mouth.

Bianca smiled, shaking her head no. "They love me." She stated confidently, and it was true.

"I never would've thought, seriously." Kamaria went on, she didn't want to say what she really thought, which was that she seemed too high class—or boujie in her words, for a side job like that.

"So, now that I've told you everything, time to reciprocate." Bianca raised her eyebrows.

Kamaria sighed, putting another fry in her mouth. "Zion is my ex." She stated, but this wasn't news to Bianca since he had told them.

"We dated back in the summer of 2007, before slim came home and stuff. And at the time I was close with Sarai." She went on, picking up her burger since she had quickly devoured her two stacked waffles.

"Yeah I remember, you two started hanging out more." Bianca nodded because that was the truth. It was out of no where but they started trying to put their petty beef aside, because truthfully there was none , it only existed because of their parents history.

"Well, naturally because we had gotten closer she knew about him. We would talk about him only a little here and there, but she knew who he was. Then around the end of July, she straight out came and told me that they had been flirting and talking—and not to throw any dirt on her name , but now I believe it was more than that." Kamaria went on.

Bianca had to pause, "like...sex?" She had to make sure that's what kamaria meant.

When kamaria only nodded a little Bianca felt so stupid. "I'm sorry she did that too you kamaria. I can't help but to think it's my fault because of how me and your father came together that she may have thought that was alright." She gulped realizing their actions had trickled down to her child.

"Yeah, and kinda the same thing happened with Samir. I told her he had a girlfriend and she just disregarded that," kamaria explained before bringing her burger back up to her mouth.

"Anyways, so back at the cabin I was asleep I had just gotten off the phone with Samir, and I just felt this like tingling sensation so of course I woke up." She felt embarrassed for saying it, "and then he like put his hand over my mouth once I realized what was happening, and told me he was sorry about what happened between us and it was his way of apologizing."

"What happened with Sarai." Bianca caught on, making her nod.

"So I told him it was okay he didn't have too, and I had a boyfriend and that's kinda when he got aggressive basically disregarding him starting to force himself on me." Her voice dropped a few octaves , paranoid other people could hear her. "And then when he let up a little I kinda just punched him and hurried out the room to go get Kyaire so we could leave, but he was asking too many questions, and moving to slow so I just started breaking down. Then that's when y'all showed up." She finished off.

Silence fell over them as they both processed what had just been said.

Bianca's opened her mouth to speak, but then she closed it since she was speechless. She had no idea how kamaria felt, she didn't really know how to console people.

Kamaria picked up her butter knife, and began spreading cream cheese on her toast bagel so that she could eat it while it was how she liked it.

"Excuse me," Bianca spoke randomly, causing her to look up thinking it was her she was speaking too. "Can you turn that tv up please?" She asked nicely, using her milky white acrylic nail to point at one of the many tvs stationed on the wall in the establishment.

"Of course," the waitress smiled, hurrying off to pertain to the task.

Kamaria just summed it up to her having one of her old people moments, because she wasn't interested in the news. So she went back to eating.

"Saint Petersburg police are investigating a Tuesday morning shooting that left a 17-year-old Zion McClendon dead." The sentence caught kamarias attention.

"According to police, the shooting happened on 64th street south and 3rd avenue south, in the center of south Pasadena just after 4 a.m. Police said the 17-year-old victim died after being taken to Bay Front Hospital. Detectives continue to interview witnesses to determine the circumstances that led up to the shooting. No further information has been released." The reporter on the news spoke.

"Is this a prank?" Kamaria questioned unable to remove her eyes from the picture of Zion smiling on the tv screen.

Bianca clamped her mouth shut, not knowing what to say, again.

"You see this too right?" Kamaria looked back at her to make sure she wasn't hallucinating. If this wasn't karma she didn't know what was.

"I do."
