Delaney stood in front of the dark haired demon she and Randy had tied up to a chair in an abandoned warehouse. She had snuck out while Dean and Sam had fallen asleep and Randy picked her up in a car she didn't even want to know the origin of. It was hard to hide what she was doing with Randy now that both of the boys were with her again and were back to their overprotectiveness. It would definitely be impossible to just hop in the Impala and meet up with Randy wherever so they needed to take different measures. Right now, Delaney just cared about finding Lilith and ending her once and for all. Just because Dean was alive didn't mean that Delaney would stop searching for the demon, even though that same demon wanted her head on a stick.
"Where's Lilith?"
"Kiss my ass," the demon remarked.
"I'd watch myself if I were you," Delaney threatened, jaw twitching as she fought off the urge to just flinging the demon back into Hell right then and there.ย
The demon let out a small laugh and smirked at Delaney as if the situation he was in wasn't life threatening to him. He knew what she could do to him - at this point, Delaney was sure all demons did - and yet there he sat with a cocky smirk on his face. "Why? Huh? Because you're Delaney Winchester, Ms. Big Hero? Yet here you are, slutting around with some demon. What would your precious big brothers think when they find out?"
Delaney's jaw ticked and she took a threatening step closer to the demon. "Shut your mouth."
"Tell me about all those months without Dean... about all the things you and this demon dick do in the dark," the demon taunted, jerking his head towards Randy who stood to his left with his arms crossed. "Huh? Tell me, hero."
Delaney's eyes darkened and, having enough of the demon's lip, she raised her hand and focused her energy on projecting the demon out of the dark haired male. The demon began to choke and gag as black smoke billowed out of the man's mouth and burned through the floor until the man eventually slumped forward. Delaney dropped her hand to her side and breathed heavily. The ability usually took a lot out of her, but it was slowly getting to the point where she didn't feel weak or dizzy any more.ย
Randy smiled proudly at Delaney and followed her as she pressed her hands to the side of the male's neck to make sure he was still alive. Thankfully, he was. "You okay, princess?"
Delaney nodded and squatted next to the chair so she could remove the man's ropes from around him since he clearly was no longer a threat. "Yeah, no more headaches."
"None? That's good."
The man started to stir and Delaney quickly turned back to him, offering him a small smile. "Hey, it's okay. I got you, okay?" She helped the man out of his chair and wrapped an arm around her shoulders to help the man walk towards the door.
The door to the warehouse suddenly creaked open and Delaney froze in her steps when she saw Dean and Sam step inside. Her eyes widened as she had no idea how either of the boys knew where she was because she had accidentally left her phone back at the motel. There was no way Dean could have tracked her phone.ย
"So... anything you want to tell us, Della?" Dean asked and he looked lividย with her.ย
Delaney slowly let go of the man and made sure he was comfortable in the chair that was to Delaney's right. She stood back up to her full height and held her hands up towards her brothers who both wore equal looks of pure anger and disappointment. The kind of look that Delaney never wanted to receive from either of them. "Boys, hold on, okay? Just let me - "
"Delaney Elizabeth, I swear if the next words out of your mouth are let me explain, I'm going to kill you. How are you going to explain this?" Dean barked at his baby sister and Delaney flinched at the harsh tone. "How about this? Why don't you start with who he is and why he's even here?"
Delaney rolled her lips into her mouth and glanced over to Randy who was now stood next to her with a small smirk on his face. In typical Randy fashion, he raised his left hand and wiggled his fingers at Dean in a mocking wave.ย
"Good to see you, too, boys."
Demons.
Sam narrowed his eyes as they bounced between Randy and Delaney, a flash of recognition appearing on his face. "Randy?"
Randy's smirk only grew as he crossed his arms, rocking back on his heels. "Good to know that Winchester intelligence hasn't gone away."
After moment of tense silence, Dean grabbed hold of Randy and shoved him up against the wall. He pulled out the demon knife and just before Dean could stab it into Randy's heart, Delaney had rushed over and grabbed his wrist. She had successfully gotten it out of Dean's hand just as he had ripped her grip off his wrist, sending her stumbling back.ย
Randy was quick to grab Dean by the front of his leather jacket and shove him up against the wall next. He brought his face dangerously close to Dean's and went to move his hand to grip it around Dean's throat when Delaney gasped from beside them.
"Randy, stop it!" Delaney ordered and glared at Randy until he finally released Dean from his tight grip.
Dean coughed lightly and rubbed where Randy had grabbed him, eyes bouncing between Delaney and Randy. "Aren't you an obedient little dick?"
"Randy," Delaney begged, tugging on his leather jacket sleeve to tug him away from Dean who he still glowered at. If looks could kill, Dean definitely would have been back in Hell. "Ran, please. He's hurt. Just go."
Randy glanced down to Delaney and his features instantly softened when his eyes landed on her. He offered her a small smile and subtly squeezed her hand so the boys couldn't see before he turned to grab the man that was slumped in the chair, breathing heavily.
"And where do you think you're going?" Sam demanded, blocking the exit way to the warehouse.
Randy grunted when the man leant all his weight onto him and shifted the man so he wouldn't hurt himself further. "The E.R... unless you want to go a round with me, too, Sammy Boy."
Sam didn't respond and reluctantly stepped to the side so Randy could drag the man out of the warehouse and over to his car before it was too late.ย
Delaney waited for Randy to be out of the room before she met Dean's gaze and, man, did she hate the way he stared at her. As if he didn't even know who she was anymore. "Dean, Sam... I..."
Dean scoffed and shook his head, brushing past Delaney and made his way over to Sam who still stood by the door to the warehouse. Both boys ignored their sister's calls for them and walked out of the warehouse, leaving Delaney all alone.ย
Delaney squeezed her eyes shut and fought off the wave of tears that desperately wanted to attack. She didn't want the boys to find out like this. Hell, part of her hoped she could find Lilith and kill her before the boys had to find out. However, that was wishful thinking and Delaney should know by now that the Winchesters never got what they wished for.
โถโถโถโถโถโโทโทโทโทโท
The next morning, Delaney sat at the small table that was placed next to the window in the motel room and to the right of the motel door. Dean had dropped off Delaney at the motel before he had pulled out of the parking lot with Sam in the Impala. Neither of the boys had returned through the night and that left Delaney with increasing anxiety. She didn't know where her brothers had gone or if they were okay. Sure they were pissed at her - and for good reason, she'd admit - but they always at least contacted her. This time they didn't and that only proved to her just how much she fucked up.ย
No matter how much she did it for Dean and revenge, hiding it was probably the worst thing she ever did. Though, Delaney knew if she tried to talk it out with the boys they would have both immediately shot down the idea of her doing so. Anything that dealt with her path thanks to Azazel instantly turned Dean and Sam off and they tried to keep her far from it. Both boys had visibly showed how grateful they were that her visions had gone the second Azazel was killed by Dean. Now that there was this new, more powerful ability that she had kept secret from Sam the past four months and Dean the past few days would definitely not bode well for her.
The door behind Delaney suddenly opened up and she turned to see Dean and Sam walk into the room and she felt the relief slam into her at the sight of the boys being okay. The boys could handle themselves no problem, but Delaney still worried for them no matter what. It was just a Winchester reaction to anyone they cared about.
Dean had grabbed his duffle that was on the floor next to the bed he had shared with Delaney for the few short minutes she had laid there to pretend to be asleep the night prior. He grabbed his stuff that laid around the room and shoved them into the duffle while Sam did the same with his own stuff.
"Boys, what are you doing?" Delaney asked, pushing herself out of her seat and rushed over to stand between the boys who both packed up their stuff. She was met silence and she could feel the anxiety clawing at her lungs as the thought crossed her mind."Are - are you leaving?"ย
"You don't need us. You and Randy go fight demons," Sam quipped and it was an odd response to get from him. He was usually the more understanding one and would let her explain herself while Dean turned into total authoritarian mode and just yelled at her. It was just his way of making sure she never did the bad thing she did ever again, but Sam would at least let her tell him what happened and why. Dean only cared about what she did and that it was wrong.ย
Delaney shook her head and quickly skidded to step in front of the boys when they tried to leave out the motel room door. "Okay, can we just take a moment here, please?"
"Delaney, I can't hit you so I suggest you move out of the way," Dean warned, his knuckles going white as he gripped the strap of his duffle bag tighter. She could see the war he had going on in his head over the whole situation. He didn't want to leave her behind and it was obvious he was full blown worried over her. It was just a Winchester trait to leave when things got too rough instead of sticking around to fix it.
Well, Delaney would be damned if she let the boys walk out. They were the only family she had left and she loved them both than she could ever admit to. Dean and Sam were quite literally her anchors in life and she'd rather die than have to go through a life without them.ย
"If that would satisfy you, then go ahead," Delaney said, throwing her arms out to the side. She'd take a punch from Dean if it meant that he'd stick around and let her talk.ย
Dean scoffed and threw down the duffle bag onto the bed next to him, eyes narrowing at Delaney. The same kind of look he gave her any time she was in major trouble and was about two seconds from a grounding. "Do you have any idea how far off the reservation you've gone? How far from normal? From human?"
Delaney puffed out her cheeks and lowered her hands back down to her sides. "I get it I should have told you and Sam, okay? I'm just exorcising demons, Dean."
"With your mind!" Dean shouted.
"What else can you do?" Sam asked next, dropping his duffle bag back down as well as it was obvious the boys weren't leaving.ย
"I can send them back to Hell. It only works with demons and that's it."
Dean grabbed Delaney by the front of her flannel and brought her closer so they were eye to eye with each other. It was obvious he didn't believe a word she had said. "What else can you do?!"
"I told you!" Delaney snapped, ripping Dean's hand off her flannel and glaring at him. Her chest heaved as the annoyance coursed through her. Why couldn't the boys just take what she said and leave it? She didn't have anything else to give them as she had told them everything... you know, minus sneaking around with Randy. That probably would not be smart to share with the boys right now. It would only make matters worse.
"And we have every reason in the world to believe that," Sam retorted.
"I'm sorry I never said anything, okay? I should have, but try to see the other side here," Delaney begged.
"The other side?!" Dean repeated incredulously.ย
"I'm pulling demons out of innocent people."
"Use the knife!"
"The knives kill the victim! What I do, most of them survive!" Delaney argued, trying to get the boys to see that this ability wasn't going to kill her or anything. She was saving people like they have been doing this whole time. The drop in numbers of dead victims had been incredible and it made Delaney feel better. She was finally able to save people and not lose them like they had in the past. She was tired of losing people. "Look, I've saved more people in the last five months than we have in a year."
Dean stared at Delaney for a long moment and part of her hoped that he considered what she said. That she got him to see that this ability wasn't evil, but it was useful. "That's what Randy want you to think? Huh? The way he tricked you into using your powers? Slippery slope, baby girl. Just wait and see because it's gonna get darker and darker, and God knows where it ends."
"I'm not gonna let it go too far, Dee."
Dean scoffed softly and turned away from Delaney, punching the lamp on the TV stand and sent it crashing to the ground. He tugged his hands through his hair and let out a growl of frustration before he turned back around to face Delaney. "It's already gone too far, Della! If I didn't know you... I'd want to hunt you."
"Dean..." Sam tried to jump in, clearly not wanting to go as far as Dean had taken it.
Dean held a hand up to shut Sam up and ignored the way that Delaney's eyes welled up at the truth and her bottom lip wobbled slightly as she fought to keep the tears from falling. "And so would other hunters. You're playing a dangerous game and you don't even realize it."
Delaney sniffled and blinked her eyes to try and rid herself of the tears that blurred her vision. "You were gone, Dean. Sammy and I were here. I couldn't just sit around when I knew I was the reason you were in the Pit. I mean, if I had just killed Jake when I had the chance, he would have never stabbed me in the back and you wouldn't have had to sell your soul for me. I could barely look Sam in the face after Lilith sent Hellhound on you. So... I had to keep fighting somehow and what I do.. it works. I'll be fine."
"Well, tell me, if it's so terrific... then why did you lie to Sammy and I?" Dean countered and Delaney diverted her gaze away from Dean and Sam guiltily. "And why did an angel tell us to stop you?"
Delaney's head snapped up at the new information and her eyes bounced between her two brothers who didn't show a hint of joke or humor. "What?"
Sam nodded with a deep frown on his face. "Cas said that if we don't stop you, he will. See, what that means, Delly - that means that God doesn't want you doing this. So, you can't possibly believe that this is all good if God doesn't even want you doing what you are."
Suddenly, Delaney's phone went off and she pulled it out of her back pocket to see it was one of her father's old contacts, Travis. "Hey, Travis," she whispered, trying to keep tears out of her voice.ย
"Hey, kid. It's good to hear your voice."
"Yeah, it's good to hear your voice, too. Look, it's really not a good time - "
"I'm sorry, I just have a hunt that you might be interested in. You told me to call if anything came up and I think you might be able to handle this one. I hear the band is back together again."
Delaney sighed and walked over to the nightstand to grab the pen and pad that was on there. Might as well distract the three of them by doing a hunt together and not focus on the tension between her and her brothers. "Yeah, just give me the details."
"Carthage, Missouri and you're looking for a man named Jack Montgomery."
Delaney quickly scribbled down the information and hung up with Travis before she turned to the boys.
"Hunt anyone?"

On the car ride towards Missouri, Dean and Sam had explained to Delaney how Castiel had sent them back in time to where John and Mary were just engaged. Dean had been the reason John had gone with the Impala instead of some ugly tan Volkswagen Van you'd see at Woodstock or Coachella. Then, they had found out Mary had been a hunter back before her and John had been married along with her parents, Samuel and Deanna. Something Delaney had momentarily giggled at because the boys were both clearly named after Mary's parents while Delaney had just been named Delaney because Mary though it was pretty.ย
However, Delaney just couldn't wrap her around the fact Mary had been a hunter. She thought John had been the one to start the family business of killing things that went bump in the dark because of Azazel and what he did to Mary. Though, Sam had gone on to explain that Azazel killed John and Mary had made a deal with Azazel to get John back. The deal would just be in ten years he'd come back and do something. So long as no one interrupted him, they would be safe and nothing would happen to Mary or anyone.ย
It didn't take a genius to figure out that the deal had come to a close the night Azazel popped up in six month old Delaney's nursery and bled into her mouth. The thing that started the Winchester's never ending strike of bad luck. Hell, he had killed their grandparents before he had even gone after Mary and John. Their whole family was gone thanks to Azazel all for Delaney? Was she really that big of an asset to this stupid demon war?
"I can't believe it. Mom? A hunter?" Delaney asked, propping her chin onto her hands that were leant on the back of the front seat.ย
"I wouldn't have believed it either if I hadn't seen it for myself," Dean said, speeding the Impala down the empty dark roads leading up to Missouri. He chuckled softly and shook his head as if he couldn't believe it still. "That woman could kick some ass. Now I know where you get it from, Della. I mean, she almost took meย down."
Delaney smiled softly at the thought of being just like her mom. She didn't know much about Mary since she had died when Delaney was still an infant. The boys were six and four when Mary was killed so they got to know her a bit better than she did and they used to tell Delaney stories all the time as she grew up. Hell, Delaney wouldn't even know what Mary looked like if it weren't for photos that John had managed to get from the burnt down Winchester house. "How did she look? I mean... was she happy?"
"Yeah, she was awesome," Sam replied and he sounded lost in his thoughts of his time back in the past with their mom. "Funny and smart. So hopeful. Dad, too. Until, of course..."
Delaney sighed heavily and rubbed her hands over her face out of stress. "I just... our parents? Now we find out grandpa and grandma, too? Our whole family murdered, and for what? So Azazel could get in my nursery and bleed in my mouth?"
Dean furrowed his eyebrows and he slowly moved his gaze to Delaney for a second, a hidden expression on his face that Delaney couldn't read. "Della, I never mentioned anything about demon blood."
Delaney rolled her lips into her mouth and slowly pushed herself to sit back in her seat, hoping the shadows in the car could hide the guilty expression on her face. Another thing she had been lying to the boys about and now they knew that she knew already. She was on a roll at this rate.ย
"You knew about that?" Sam accused, turning to glance a veryย guilty Delaney. "How long?"
"Yeah... for about a year," Delaney admitted, ears tinting pink out of embarrassment and guilt. She tried to avoid both Sam and Dean's gazes as they were both riddled with disappointment and anger. It was a look she felt that she'd be getting a lot from them now.
"A whole year," Dean laughed incredulously.
"I'm sorry, I should have told you," Delaney squeaked, lowering herself in the backseat. She wished that a black hole would open beneath her and swallow her whole.
"You've been saying that a lot, Delaney, but whatever. You don't want to tell your big brothers - who you never lied to before this point, mind you - then you don't have to tell us. It's fine."
"Boys..."
Both of the boys had ignored her and just exchanged a look with each other that Delaney couldn't read. So they had gone back to the whole silent conversations and leaving Delaney out of the loop. Something that Delaney probably deserved because had kept them out of the loop, but it didn't mean Delaney had to like it, either. She'd rather them be adults and talk it out, but she guessed that wouldn't be happening.ย
It was going to be a long car ride to Missouri.
โถโถโถโถโถโโทโทโทโทโท
The Winchesters had finally made it to Missouri and stopped outside Jack Montgomery's house. It was a good hour before they even saw him through the kitchen window and he seemed normal. He was in a polo, khakis and even wore his cell phone on his belt. Dean had claimed the guy was boring and he didn't know why Travis had even sent them there in the first place.
That was until Jack dug into the fridge and pulled out raw hamburger meat. He shoveled the uncooked meat into his mouth like he hadn't had food in days. It was a pretty nauseating sight and Delaney was glad when Dean suggested they go to their motel room and try to figure this thing out.
Delaney stepped into the motel room first and jumped back when she saw the figure sat at the table across from the door that sat under the large window. He was a balding man with a gray button up shirt, brown vest over it and jeans. His left arm was wrapped in white gauze as if he had broken it.
"Travis!" Dean greeted and smiled brightly at the man as he shut the motel room door behind him.
Travis smiled back and placed the beer in his hand down on the table. He pushed himself out of the chair and walked over to the three siblings, bringing Dean in for a hug first before he moved onto Sam. His focus finally landed on Delaney and he smiled softly at her. "I never got the pleasure to properly meeting you, Delaney. Your father talked about you all the time when we would be on hunts together. How long has it been, boys?"
"Ah, gotta be ten years," Sam chuckled and stuffed his hands into his front jean pocket.
"Delaney, are you still a - oh, what was it? A mathlete?"
Delaney laughed softly and shook her head. "Uh, no... not anymore."
Dean grinned and slapped Delaney on the back - a little too hard if you asked Delaney - which earned him a glare. "Sure is."
"Been too long, boys. I mean, look at you - you're grown men now. John would have been damn proud of you... sticking together like this with your baby sister. Looking out for her the way he always raised you to do."
Dean snorted and forced a smile onto his face that went unnoticed by Travis. "Yeah... thick as thieves, Travis. Nothing more important than family."
Delaney shot Dean a look that practically begged him to not do this in front of Travis. Sure he was best friends with John, but he didn't need to know what was wrong with Delaney. Lord only knew what would happen if other hunters found out what Delaney could do.
"Sorry I'm late for the dance," Travis said after a long beat of silence and walked back over to the table, sitting back down in the chair he had been in. Dean took the seat across from him and Delaney and Sam sat on the bed next to the table together. "Thanks for helping out an old man. I'm a little, uh, shorthanded. So, you track down Montgomery?"
"Yeah, we found him at his home," Sam replied.
"And?"
"Well, he had a hell of a case of the munchies, topped off with a burger he forgot to cook," Dean mused, clasping his hands together on the table.
Travis nodded as he considered everything Dean had said and leant back against the wall. "Lady and gents, we have ourselves a Rougarou."
"A Rougarou? Is that made up? That sounds made up," Dean said.
"They're mean, nasty little suckers - rotted teeth, wormy skin, the works."
"Well, Jack didn't look like that. He looked like a normal, boring business guy," Delaney informed.
"He'll turn ugly soon enough. They start out human, for all intents and purposes."
Sam furrowed his eyebrows and exchanged confused looks with his siblings. "So, what? He goes through some kind of metamorphosis?"
"Yep, like a maggot turning into a bull fly. About age thirty, they start changing - bones shift around, animal instincts kick in. Most of all, they're hungry. At first, for everything, but then for long pig."
"Long pig?" Dean asked, not understanding what Travis meant by long pig.
"He means human flesh," Delaney explained and shuddered at the thought of it. "It's like Dawn of the Dead."
"And that is my word of the day!" Dean grinned.
"Hunger grows in till they can't fight it, till they got to take themselves a big, juicy chomp, and then it happens. They transform completely and fast. One bite's all it takes - eyes, teeth, skin all turn. No going back either. They feed once, they're a monster forever. Our man's Jack headed there on a bullet train."
Sam chewed on his lower lip as he leant his elbows on his knees, brain visibly working at max speed to try and comprehend everything that Travis laid out for them. "Well, how did you find this guy if he's still a human?"
Travis seemed to grow saddened at the question and his eyes flickered over to Sam. "Let's just say it runs in the family. Killed his daddy back in '78. Son of a bitch mangled eight bodies before I put him down. Guy used to be a dentist - Cadillac, trophy wife. Little did I know, pregnantย trophy wife. She put the baby up for adoption. By the time I found out, he was long gone, lost in the system."
"You mean to tell me youย couldn't find someone?" Dean teased.
Travis sighed softly at the teasing and a small smile graced his face. "I'm not even sure I wanted to. The idea of hunting down a little boy... I don't think I'd have the heart. No. Wanted to wait, make damn sure I had the right man. Apparently I do."
โถโถโถโถโถโโทโทโทโทโท
Delaney had stepped out of the room to do more research on Rougarous so they had a better understanding of what they dealt with. She always felt better going into a hunt when she had all the information possible on the supernatural creature they hunted down. Though, Delaney didn't find much more on the creature than Travis had given, but she did find one thing that stood out to her that she had to share with the boys.ย
Stepping back into the motel room, Delaney saw the three boys sat around the table with four fire extinguisher looking devices in front of them. She laughed softly and closed the door behind her, walking over to them. "You don't waste a second, do you?"
"None to waste," Travis replied. "Guy Hulks out, we won't be finding bodies, just remains."
Delaney grinned brightly and held up the research she held in her hand, rocking back on her heels. "What if he doesn't? I did a little homework, I've been checking out the lure on Rougarous."
Travis placed down his tools and narrowed his eyes jokingly at Delaney. "What, my thirty years of experience not good enough for you?"
Delaney blinked and opened and closed her mouth like a gaping fish. "Wh- no, no. I just wanted to be prepared. I mean, not that you didn't - "
"Della loves research. She does. She keeps under her mattress right next to her K-Y. It's a sickness. It is," Dean quipped and merely flashed Delaney a cocky grin when she glared at him.
"Look, everything you said checked out, Travis. Of course, but I found a couple of interesting stories about people who have this Rougarou gene or whatever. See, they start to turn, but they never take the final step."
"Really?" Sam asked, suddenly becoming very interested in what Delaney said.
"Yeah, if they never eat human flesh, they don't full transform."
"So, what - go vegan, stay human?" Dean questioned.
"Basically. In this case, eat a lot of raw meat, just not - "
"Long pig," Dean finished for Delaney, seemingly proud of himself for remembering the term from earlier.
Delaney handed over her research to Sam who had stretched out his hand for the papers and Travis chuckled. "Good on you for the due diligence, Laney, but those are fairytales. Fact is, every Rougarou I ever saw or heard of.... took that bite."
Delaney frowned as she watched Travis push himself out of his chair and walk over to the small kitchenette to pour himself some more coffee. Sure, all those other people had turned but they didn't have the Winchesters and Travis like Jack did. They didn't have anyone to tell them what was happening to them and why they shouldn't resort to acting like a zombie. "Well, that doesn't mean that Jack will."
Travis leant back against the counter and fixed a skeptical gaze on Delaney. "What do you suppose we do? Sit around and wait for a body count?"
"No, we talk to him and explain what's happening. That way he can fight it."
"Fight it?" Travis repeated incredulously, scoffing softly. "You kidding me? You ever been really hungry? I mean, haven't-eaten-in-days hungry?"
Dean's head popped up at that, tearing his focus away from the papers that he had been reading over from Delaney. "Yeah."
"Yeah, right then. Somebody slaps a big fat juicy sirloin in front of you, you walking away?" Travis challenged and smiled in satisfaction when none of the Winchesters argued with him. "That's what we are to him now - meat on legs. I'm sorry. I'm sure he's a stand-up guy, but it's pure base instinct. Everything in nature's got to eat. You think he can stop himself 'cause he's nice?"
"I don't know, but we're not gonna kill him unless he does something to get killed for," Delaney argued, not wanting to kill a guy that hadn't even done anything yet. If there was even an inkling of a chance that Jack could possibly save himself, then Delaney would fight for that possibility. She was over making anyone else die that didn't deserve it. Jack Montgomery didn't deserve it... not yet.
โถโถโถโถโถโโทโทโทโทโท
"Alright, so we're gonna have a little chat with this guy, which, you know, I'm down. I just want to make sure if push comes, you're gonna shove."
Delaney's head snapped up in the backseat when she felt her brothers' gazes on her. Dean glanced at her through the rearview mirror and Sam had turned slightly in the front to look at her properly. "What is that supposed to mean exactly?"
"Well, odds are we're gonna have to burn this guy alive," Dean said.
"This guy ย has a name and a wife, Dean," Delaney argued, not even wanting to think about having to off Jack Montgomery.ย
"Yeah, who we are probably gonna have to make a widow. I mean, you heard Travis. They always turn," Sam chimed in, smiling sadly. "We probably won't be able to save this one, Delly."
"Maybe he won't. Maybe he can fight it off," Delaney countered and crossed her arms across her chest. Jack may have something evil growing inside of him, but that didn't mean he'd turn out evil in the end. There was always a way out and a choice that a person could make. Delaney would like to have the faith that Jack could pull through this. "We'll just have to see, won't we?"
Dean let out a heavy sigh and his eyes flickered from the road and over to Delaney once again. He looked physically and emotionally tired and Delaney tried to push down the guilt that still clawed at her for lying to her brothers so much as of late. It was something she hated to do, but she also thought it was the right thing to do. "This is what I mean, Della. You sure your emotions aren't getting in the way here? You know, nice person, but they got something evil inside. Something in his blood. Maybe you can relate to him."
Delaney pushed her tongue into her cheek as she felt a spike of annoyance and anger spark inside her. She knew that this whole thing would lead back to her demon blood situation. It was one of the main reasons Delaney had held off on telling the boys about it in the first place because she knew Dean wouldn't let her live it down or let it go. Sam at least didn't talk about it because he knew she didn't want to.ย
"Stop the car, Dean."
"What?"
"Stop the car or I will," Delaney snapped and was out of the car before Dean had even come to a full stop on the side of the road. She slammed the door behind her and whirled around to face Dean and Sam who now stood next to each other on Delaney's side of the car. "You want to know why I lied to you about all this? Because of crap like this!"
"Like what?" Dean asked, slapping his hands to his sides as if he were annoyed at her.ย
"The way you talk to me. The way you look at me like I'm a freak! You know, or even worse, like I'm an idiot. Like I don't know the different between right and wrong!" Delaney yelled, taking a step closer to the boys with every step until she was just a few steps away from them.
Dean rose an eyebrow at Delaney as if he were thinking about it. "Doย you know the difference, Delaney? I mean, you've been kind of strolling a dark road lately."
Delaney glared daggers at her brother and pointed a finger at his chest. "Don't you dare try to act like you have any idea what I'm going through."
"Then enlighten us," Sam begged, wanting desperately to know what was bothering Delaney so he could help her. He doesn't have demon blood in him, but the Winchesters never backed down from a challenge. They helped the other out no matter what and the fact Delaney felt she couldn't turn to either of them about it sucked. Usually she told them everything.
"I have demon blood in me, boys! This disease pumping through my veins, and I can't ever rip it or scrub it clean! I'm a whole new level of freak. I'm just trying to take this - this curse... and make something good out of it because I have to."
Dean and Sam were quiet for a long moment, exchanging a silent look with each other. The two brothers seemed to have the same amount of worry coursing through them over the whole thing. Delaney hated to make her brothers worry so much the way she had been ever since she joined them on the wall. It seemed like Will's death was the beginning of the never ending domino effect that was Delaney Elizabeth Winchester's life. She would kill to have just one moment where her, Dean and Sam didn't have to worry about demons, angels or anything dealing with the supernatural.ย

When the three Winchesters arrived at Jack Montgomery's house, he was stood in the backyard with a hose in his hand as he watered the plants in the back. His eyes were glazed over as if his body was there but his mind wasn't. He was a young guy with black hair and blue eyes that had dark bags underneath them to prove how little he had slept lately.
"Jack Montgomery? I'm Delaney Winchester. These are my brothers - Dean and Sam. We need to talk."
Jack eyed the trio suspiciously, trying to figure out who the three really were and what they were doing in his backyard. "About?"
"About you," Delaney replied instantly, wanting to be completely and utterly truthful with Jack. She may sound crazy, but maybe if she were honest from the jump then she'd be able to get him to listen to her. It was probably wishful thinking, but Delaney was just going to roll with it. "About how you're changing."
"Excuse me?"
"You're probably feeling your bones move under your skin and your appetite's reaching, you know, Hungry Hungry Hippo levels," Dean teased, referencing to the children's game from back in the day. It was a game that Delaney and the boys would play when there was nothing else to do in the motel room. It was one of her favorite games as a kid, especially because she always kicked ass in the game and won. "How am I doing so far?"
Jack stared at the trio oddly and it looked like he was thirty seconds from kicking them off his property. "Who the hell are you guys?"
"We're people who know a little something about something," Sam said, stuffing his hands awkwardly into his jacket pockets. "We're people who can help. Just hear us out."
Delaney had taken the reigns and divulged into everything that she and the boys knew from Travis and the extra bit of research Delaney had done. The whole time she spoke, Jack just grew more and more skeptical and Delaney just received the same reaction she got from everyone else. He thought she and the boys were nuts.
"A -a what?"
"A Rougarou. I know it sounds made up, but it's not. I promise," Delaney assured.
"Alright, I've noticed certain things. I mean, some strange things, but I just - I don't know. I'm - I'm sick or something," Jack defended, wanting to do anything but believe a single word the Winchesters had said.
Delaney frowned and she felt bad for the guy. Jack had something that was going on with him that he couldn't explain no matter how badly he wanted to. Dean was right in the fact that Delaney could relate to him. Much like Jack, he was innocent bystander that was perceived to be evil because of what was inside him. However, they both had the opportunity to defy those odds and not give in to that side by doing something good.ย
"Your father was one of those things," Sam informed and realized he had to clarify when Jack sent him a look. He wasย adopted after all. "Your real father. He passed it on to you."
Jack shook his head and ran a hand down his face. "Are you guys hearing yourselves? You sound like you're ย - "
"Skip the whole you guys sound crazy, shall we? You're hungry, Jack. You're only gonna get hungrier for long pig. You know, a little Manburger Helper may have crossed your mind already," Dean retorted.
"No."
"It doesn't have to be like this, Jack. You can fight it off. Others have," Delaney added softly.
"We're not gonna lie to you, though. It's not gonna be easy. You're gonna feel like an alcoholic swimming around in whiskey. I'm telling you, you got to say no, or - "
"Or what?" Jack cut Dean off, still wearing a look that practically screamed the trio were crazy.
Dean lifted a shoulder in a half shrug. "You feed once and it's all over. Then we'll have to stop you."
Jack blinked at that and he suddenly tensed up in defense at the mention of the three having to put him down. "Stop me? My dad - did, uh, somebody stop him?"
"Yes," Delaney whispered, hating that she had to be the one to let Jack know his birth father was dead.
"Get off my property right now. I see you three again, I'm calling the cops."
"Jack, your wife and everybody you know, they're in danger," Delaney pleaded, needing Jack to listen to her so she could make sure he stayed safe. She knew that her and the boys sounded psychotic but you couldn't make this stuff up.
"Now!"
Jack's neighbor next door had turned at the sound of Jack yelling, stopping in trimming his hedges. He glanced over the fence and Dean had been quick to excuse them from the property before the man with the large weapon could even think about stepping in to help.ย
Clearly, the Winchesters would have to go about this the long way.ย

Later that night, Delaney and the boys trailed after Jack to make sure he didn't munch on anyone's throats while he was on his own. He had been sat on a bench across the street from a young woman's house before he had suddenly rushed towards the apartment building. The three siblings had rushed out of the Impala with their fire bombs and ran up to the woman's apartment only to find out Jack hadn't even attacked the woman or was even there.
They had tried to call Travis multiple times afterwards, but got his voicemail each and every time. Dean had suggested they should stop at the Montgomery's house to make sure Jack had gone back there and then they could head to the motel to work something out. When they pulled up outside the front of the Montgomery house, Sam had pointed out Travis' truck parked across the street and that set the three siblings instantly into motion.
The front door slowly opened when Delaney pushed on it and Dean stepped in first, ย eyes on the stairs. Sam and Delaney were close behind him and the three froze in the living room when they noticed a massive pool of blood on the white rug. A thick blood trail from the pool to behind the couch and Delaney audibly gulped at the sight, not wanting to know what would be on the other side of the couch but followed the boys toward it anyway.
"Oh, God," Delaney gasped and slapped a hand to her mouth when she saw the dead body of Travis on the floor, his throat looking like the a reject from The Walking Dead. She glanced up at Dean and blinked away the tears that threatened to fall. "I'm sorry, Dean. You were right about Jack. I should have listened to you."
Before Dean could respond, he was tackled from behind by Jack and they both smashed into the coffee table which effectively knocked out Dean. Delaney and Sam both reached for their fire bombs, but they both struggled to get a proper flame out to torch Jack. Jack had tackled Sam the both of them down to the ground, knocking out Sam when he smacked the back of his head against the wooden floor. Delaney was thrusted into darkness last when Jack slammed the fire bomb into the side of Delaney's head.

Delaney slowly blinked open her eyes and her head spun wildly, causing her to squeeze her eyes shut once more to stop the room from spinning. She pressed her hand to the sideย of her head and groaned when she felt bloodย on the sideย of her forehead. Hopefully, Delaney wouldn't need stitches for that later. She slowly pushed herself to her feet and realized she was alone in the closet, having no idea where Dean nor Sam could be if she were in there by herself. She stumbled over to the closet door to open it, but the knob barely moved an inch - it was locked.
"Dean?! Sam?!"
"Dean and Sam, can't come to the phone right now," Jack yelled from theย other side of the door. He sounded a few feet away so Delaney wanted to guess the closet they were in was in the hall just outside the living room next to the stairs.
Delaney growled and slammed her fist on the door, anxiety clawing its way out at the thought of Dean and Sam being out there alone with Jack who had officially turned over into a Rougarou. "Jack! If you hurt my brothers, I swear to God!"
"Calm down! Your brothers are alive, but not if you don't calm down!"
"Alright, Jack, listen. Open the door. We can figure this out, okay?"ย
Jack's scoff could barely be heard through the door and Delaney had to press her ear to the door to hear Jack properly. "We'll have ourselves a little brainstorming session."
"Jack, please," Delaney begged, trying to keep her breathing even and calm. If she stayed clam, maybe she'd be able to save the boys. Maybe not Jack, but she'd give it one last shot.
"I don't think so. After what you did?"
"What? What are you talking about?" Delaney questioned, not knowing what Jack could be talking about. The only thing Delaney and the boys did were approach him in his backyard about his sickness which he clearly did not listen to any of them about and took a chomp out of Travis.
"You sent your friend here. He tried to burn my wife alive!"
Delaney froze at the new information because why would Travis want to burn Jack's wife? She wasn't the threat... Jack was. So what would possess Travis to try and attack Jack's wife as well? "What? Why?"
It was quiet for a long moment on the other side of the door and Delaney felt a wave of anxiety course through her. Silence wasn't good because Jack could be doing anything to Dean or Sam without her knowing since she couldn't see through the wooden door. "He didn't say. I guess psychopaths don't have to explain themselves."
Delaney quietly grabbed for a wire hanger on the rack behind her head and straightened it out so she could try to pick the lock from the inside. She had to do it all slowly and quietly to keep her escape hidden and not alert Jack. "Jack, you have to listen to me. My brothers and I, we never would have hurt her, okay?"
"Oh, God. I'm so hungry."
"Jack, don't do this."
"I can't ever see my family again. You three... your friend - you made me into this!"ย
Delaney forced down the snort that wanted to escape since none of them had twisted Jack's arm to do what he had. He bit Travis on his own accord and no one else's. "No one is making you kill us. Listen to me. You got this dark pit inside you, I know. Believe me, I know, but that doesn't mean you have to fall into it. You don't have to be a monster."
Jack barked out a laugh and he sounded further away at this point, which only made Delaney try desperately harder to get the lock undid. He was definitely closer to Dean and Sam at this point. "Have you seen me lately?"
"It doesn't matter what you are. It matters what you do," Delaney countered and grunted softly when the hanger slipped out of the key hole. "It's your choice."
After another few moments of struggle, Delaney got the closet door open and she stumbled out. She grabbed the fire torch and held it up threateningly at Jack who had frozen over Dean and Sam at the sound of the closet door banging open. When Jack lunged for Delaney, she pulled the trigger on the fire torch and set Jack into flames. He fell to the ground and screamed in agony until his screams eventually quieted down until he was dead.ย
Delaney dropped the fire torch to her feet and stared sadly at the still burning corpse of Jack Montgomery. She had tried everything under her belt and she couldn't save him. Maybe not everyone could defeat the evil inside of them like Delaney thought.
She just hoped that she could.

The boys had come to just a few moments after Jack had stopped screaming and the siblings waited to make sure there was no body left before they put out the fire. The boys had cleaned up the mess that was left behind and hid the fact that the trio were never there in the first place. Delaney had been quiet the entire time they cleaned and even getting into the Impala to go off to their next destination. She had taken her usual seat in the back seat and pulled her knees up to her chest, hiding her face in her knees as her mind raced. At this point, Delaney wasn't sure if her headache was from the racing thoughts or the hit to the head she had taken.ย
"You did the right thing, you know," Dean spoke up, causing Delaney to pop her head up and look at him. "That guy was a monster. There was no going back." His eyes flickered over to the rearview mirror and his heart broke at the sight of Delaney so heart broken. She seemed to be putting herself in Jack's shoes and it only made him want to hide Delaney away from all the evil that seemed to follow her. His overprotective, big brother side was on overdrive as of late and he wanted to do everything in his power to assure his baby sister was always okay. "Baby girl, I want tell you I'm sorry. I've been kind of hard on you lately."
"Don't worry about it, Dean," Delaney mumbled, laying her head down on her knees again and staring out the window.ย
"It's just that your, uh - your psychic thing - it scares the crap out of Sammy and I."
"Yeah, we're really worried about you, Delly," Sam chimed in, glancing over his shoulder at Delaney and frowned when he noticed how small she looked in the back seat. It was definitely an odd sight for him to see with Delaney since she hadn't felt this emotionally about something in a while. It was a rough sight for him to look at.
"If it's all the same, boys, I'd really rather not talk about it."
Dean chuckled softly and Delaney peeked over at him to see a teasing grin on his face. "What? You, Delaney Winchester, don't want to talk? You?"
"There's nothing more to say. I can't keep explaining myself to you. I can't make either one of you understand," Delaney said and dropped her feet down to the floor of the Impala with a huff. "It's impossible. This thing, this blood - it's not in you boys the way it's in me. It's just something that I got to deal with."
"Not alone," Sam reminded and reached into the back to squeeze Delaney's hand assuringly. "Dean and I aren't going anywhere, you know that."
Delaney sighed heavily and removed her hand from Sam's grip and shook her head. "It doesn't matter, anyway. I'm just done with these powers because it's like playing with fire. Done with everything."
"Really?" Dean asked and he seemed stunned by the whole thing, his shoulders visibly relaxing over it. "Well, that's a relief."
"Yeah... well... it's my choice, right? Not doing it for the angels or anyone else. This is the first time I'm doing something for myself."
Delaney wasn't a selfish person in the least bit and she had always put others before herself. However, this was the first time she was actually doing something for herself and putting the whole demon blood abilities to the side. She could tackle Lilith another way and save people the way she had been this whole time. Not that it left many of the victims alive, but Delaney would try her hardest.
'Cause that's all Delaney can do at this point.
AUTHORS NOTE
Hi hey hello
Holy crap have I missed my baby Delaney the past two weeks I haven't been able to write. We are finally back to our usual updates, though, and I am so ready to get more into Season Four with this ahhhh! Season four and five are definitely two seasons I'm excited to do because of all the drama and angst LIKE YES!
I know I said I was going to do episode three for this chapter in Dean&Sam's POV, but last minute I decided to skip it because there were some things in that episode I'd rather have the reader find out along with Delaney instead of before her (if that make sense). So we just gonna settle for the little description of episode three I threw in during the car scene after the warehouse with Randy.ย
ALSO! I have to go back later and edit this because my "i" and "o" keys on my Mac keyboard decided to malfunction and decided when and when not they wanted to work for me. So there might be some words missing an "i" or "o" so I'll go back later and fix them up later. Sorry, peeps.
