"Okay, let's see this thing." Stiles said, leaning in with way too much excitement about what had happened last night. He had talked to Aurora and she had talked back to him, even though she had been in immense pain. And both her and Scott had been bitten by an animal. His best friend raised his short high enough to see the white bandage on his side.

"Ooh!" Scott spoke, as Stiles poked the bandage, causing Scott to pull his shirt right again. Scott shook his head, clearly still freaked out. "It was too dark to see much, but I'm pretty sure it was a wolf." Scott informed Stiles as the two off them walked closer to the front door of the school.

"A wolf bit you?" Stiles asked, eyebrows shooting up.

"Uh-huh." Scott nodded, his voice serious.

Stiles snorted. "No, not a chance."

Scott frowned, defensive. "I heard a wolf howling."

"No, you didn't."

"What do you mean, no, I didn't?" Scott shot back, annoyed. "How do you know what I heard?"

"Because California doesn't have wolves, okay? Not in, like, 60 years." Stiles said, crossing his arms like he was a walking encyclopedia of useless facts. It was weird, since Aurora had told him and his dad that she also had been bitten by a wolf. But if there are no wolfs in California, how could they both have been bitten by one?

"Really?" Scott asked, looking kind of doubtful.

"Yes, really. There are no wolves in California." Stiles insisted, like he couldn't believe Scott didn't know that.

Scott hesitated for a second before sighing. "All right, well, if you don't believe me about the wolf, then you're definitely not gonna believe me when I tell you I found the body."

Stiles froze, his mouth hanging open in disbelief. "The both of you? How? You are kidding!" He exclaimed, his voice rising with a mix of shock and frustration. He ran a hand through his hair, pacing slightly as if trying to process what Scott had just said. "Why couldn't I have been there when either Aurora or you found the body?" He groaned, throwing his hands in the air dramatically. "I mean, come on, that would've been epic!"

"No, man, I wish," Scott said, his voice low, like even saying it out loud gave him the creeps. "I'm gonna have nightmares for a month."

Stiles grinned, practically buzzing with excitement. "Oh, god, that is freaking awesome." He said, unable to contain himself. "I mean, this is seriously gonna be the best thing that's happened to this town sinceβ€”since the birth of Aurora Finstock!"

As if on cue, Stiles's eyes shifted past Scott, locking onto Aurora as she stepped out of Lydia Martin's car. Her Lucky Brand Abbey Road Foldover Bag slung casually over her shoulder, the strap resting perfectly against her side as she and Lydia started walking, arms linked, over to the school.

"Hey, Aurora!" Stiles spoke as they walked past him and Scott.

Lydia raised her eyebrow with annoycene and confusion as Aurora stopped walking and looked back at Stiles with a smile.

"Hey, Stiles. Hey, Scott." Aurora greeted, her voice warm and genuine, though she couldn't ignore Lydia's pointed glances being thrown her way. She gave Stiles a soft smile. "Thanks again for last night. Seriously, I don't even know how to thank you properly. I mean, I'd probably still be dragging myself to the hospital if it wasn't for you finding me. You were really my hero last night."

Stiles blinked for a moment, clearly caught off guard by her words. But then, as expected, a grin stretched across his face, slightly lopsided but undeniably proud of himself. "Oh, you know," He said, shrugging in a playful way, "just doing my civic duty." His voice was light but there was a hint of awkwardness beneath it, like he wasn't sure how to respond to that kind of praise coming from Aurora.

"Are you okay?" Scott asked with a more serious tone, though the concern in his voice was obvious. He already knew the details since Stiles had called him right after he'd gotten home.

"I'm fine. The pain's much less." Aurora reassured him, offering a small, grateful smile. "Thanks for asking."

Scott nodded, visibly relieved.

"Well, good luck with Lacrosse!" Aurora added brightly, her voice betraying a hint of the discomfort she was starting to feel as Lydia's stare grew even more intense. It was as if Lydia was silently trying to pull her away, but Aurora kept her composure, offering one last smile to both boys before stepping away with her best friend.

"Did you hear that?" Stiles asked, his voice practically vibrating with excitement as he turned to Scott.

"What?" Scott replied, his brow furrowing in confusion.

"She called me her hero." Stiles said, practically beaming, his chest puffing out with a grin.

Scott rolled his eyes, crossing his arms over his chest. "You need help."

Lydia's eyes almost lit up as she spotted Allison's jacket. "That jacket is absolutely killer. Where'd you get it?" She asked, her tone both curious and impressed.

Allison gave a small smile. "My mom was a buyer for a boutique back in San Francisco."

Lydia nodded, clearly delighted.

"And just like that, you are my new best friend." Aurora spoke, receiving a small smile from Allison in return as Lydia turned her attention for a moment. "Hey, Jackson." she added, acknowledging her boyfriend, who wrapped an arm around her back.

Lydia continued, seamlessly steering the conversation. "So, this weekend, there's a party."

"A party?" Allison asked, a mix of curiosity and hesitation in her voice.

"Yeah." Jackson chimed in. "Friday night. You should come."

Allison hesitated, offering a polite smile. "Uh, I can't. It's family night this Friday. Thanks for asking, though."

"You sure?" Jackson pressed, flashing a confident grin. "Everyone's going after the scrimmage."

Allison tilted her head slightly. "Scrimmage? You mean like football?"

Jackson smirked, shaking his head. "Football's a joke in Beacon. The sport here is lacrosse. We've won the state championship for the past three years."

Lydia interjected smoothly, gesturing toward Jackson with a playful smile. "Because of a certain team captain." She said, her voice laced with flirtation.

Aurora leaned toward Allison, a knowing look in her eyes. "Just a warning." She murmured. "This happens all the time." Her gaze shifted toward Lydia and Jackson, as if to emphasize her point.

"Well, we have practice in a few minutes." Jackson said, fixing Allison with a look. "That is, if you don't have anywhere elseβ€”"

Allison started to respond, "Well, I was going toβ€”"

"Perfect!" Lydia interrupted with a bright smile, not giving her a chance to finish. She grabbed Allison's hand without hesitation, practically dragging her along. "We'll see you after practice, Rory." Lydia flashed her best friend a quick grin before running off with Allison.

"Cheer extra hard for me, will you Finstock?" Jackson asked with a smirk as he and Lydia made their way toward the side of the school where the locker rooms are.

Aurora raised an eyebrow and with a teasing grin, she muttered, "Now, I'll just have to find someone else to cheer for."

She walked into the locker room. She scanned the room, noticing most of the team had already gotten ready for practice, but her eyes immediately landed on Sarah, sitting on one of the benches near the back, pulling her cheer shoes on.

"Sarah!" Aurora's voice rang out, warm and excited, as she made her way over. Sarah looked up, and a huge smile spread across her face when she saw her best friend.

"Rory!" Sarah exclaimed, tossing her cheer bag aside and jumping to her feet. She pulled Aurora into a quick hug, the familiar comfort of their friendship instantly wrapping around both of them. "I didn't think you'd make it to cheer today! I was getting ready to start without you."

Aurora laughed and shrugged, tossing her own bag down beside Sarah's. "I wouldn't miss it! Besides, it's lacrosse. How could I not cheer for my favorite team?"

Sarah grinned, her eyes sparkling with mischief. "You know, I think you're the only person who cheers louder than me. Ready to make everyone else feel like amateurs?"

Aurora chuckled, adjusting her hair. "You know it. I've got some serious energy today."

Aurora and Sarah quickly finished getting ready, grabbing their pom-poms and walking out of the locker room with their heads held high. As they made their way toward the field, the excitement in the air was palpable. The sounds of practice echoed in the distance, and the smell of freshly cut grass mixed with the warm afternoon breeze.

When they reached the field, Aurora immediately scanned the bleachers. She spotted Lydia and Allison sitting together, chatting quietly, with Lydia occasionally throwing a glare toward Jackson. Aurora grinned and raised her hand, waving enthusiastically.

Aurora and Sarah jogged over to their designated spot on the sideline, their cheerleading routine ready to go. As they lined up with the other cheerleaders, their eyes kept darting back to the lacrosse field where the team was warming up.

Scott was in goal, awkwardly shifting around but trying to look confident as the players took turns firing balls his way. Aurora couldn't help but feel bad for him when another ball flew at him, before he could catch it, knowing how bad he'd been last year. He was trying so hard, but things just never seemed to click.

"Come on, Scott!" She cheered, her voice filled with encouragement. Aurora couldn't help but feel a surge of empathy for him when she heard the other team players laugh. She'd never been a big fan of mocking people, especially when they were doing their best and Scott was clearly trying his best.

Then, to everyone's surprise, Scott's movements became more fluid. He shifted his stance, focused on the next ball coming his way. With a swift move, he caught it, clean and smooth. And then another. And another.

"Wait a minute!" Sarah muttered under her breath, her eyes wide in disbelief. "Is he actually getting better?"

Aurora's eyes sparkled with excitement. "I think he is! Look at him!" The girl cheered.

The transformation was shocking. It was as if Scott had suddenly found his rhythm, and with each save, his confidence built. His awkwardness melted away, and he was blocking shots with a level of skill that even the rest of the team seemed to notice.

Aurora couldn't help but cheer louder as Scott made another perfect save. "Go, Scott!" she shouted, pumping her fist in the air. Sarah joined in, clapping her hands and shouting just as enthusiastically.
