That minute, a tall person ran into their view. He was panting slightly and he said, "Six and Sixteen secure."

"Professor Morris!" Iviana said. Elira's mind clicked, she had seen the name of the professor on her schedule. And Iviana continued, "Professor there was a spark of light there -"

"Miss Smith," Professor Morris interrupted. "I'm sorry, but you all need to hurry back to camp."

"But Professor Morris -" started Esmeree.

"Go on to Camp, as I said," Professor Morris said a little loudly and sharply.

"Need help?" Elira asked Talia as they made their way to the camp. "Are you sure you can walk, Talia? I mean you hurt your leg pretty badly -"

"I got her," Vanessa said as she helped Talia walk.

"Are you okay, Elira? You hurt your leg too, didn't you?" Alexis asked as she winced at the sight of Elira's leg, which was now bleeding.

"Yeah, I'm fine, I can just go to the pharmacy can't I?" Elira said. "Right?"

"Well . . ." Finley said. "I guess?"

I guess? Elira thought, What did Finley mean by 'I guess?' There is a pharmacy!

"Well," sighed another boy. "It's the end, probably. You the recruit? Nice to meet you, I'm Hugo. Hugo DiCamillo."

"Elira Brown," said Elira.

"Andrew Attaway."

"Logan Weatherly."

"Michael McGee." He winced before continuing, "Please, though, call me Mike."

"Charles Flett, call me Charlie."

"Evan Anwyll."

"Arnold Erwin. Call me Arnie."

They were at the camp now. Everyone was going into two lines where Professor Darryl and Professor Benjamin Darkwood (as Alexis had whispered) were checking up on everyone. Elira kept hearing Professor Darryl say, "Cabin" but sometimes she said, "Pharmacy."

"What?" she whispered to Esmeree.

"If you're okay to go to your cabin or you need to go to the pharmacy," Esmeree whispered back.

Elira did a quick scan around the people who were in lines. "But they're all hurt pretty badly," she whispered.

Esmeree shrugged. "I guess if it's like a broken bone or something, you'll go to the pharmacy."

Professor Darryl said "Cabin" to everyone in Cabin Six and Sixteen. She looked at Elira's leg and said, "Elira, you'll go to the cabin, I'm sure Ivy or someone will cure you, if not, Luciana will call Nurse Fleming."

"Alright, Professor Darryl," Elira said as she tried to smile and limped away.

When Elira flung open the door of Cabin Six, she saw that everyone there had a First-Aid Kit and was trying to heal their wounds themselves. Iviana ripped the bandaid with her teeth as she tied it to her arm.

"Elira," Vanessa said as she saw her cabinmate. "Luci, where's her First-Aid Kit?"

"Under her bed," groaned Luciana from her bed.

"Luci sprained her ankle," Victoria muttered, wincing as she put fluid on her wound. "God, that burns!"

"Eek," squeaked Talia as Finley tried to wrap her foot in a band-aid. "Stop, Fin, it hurts!"

"I'm trying to make it stop hurting, ain't I?" Finley said sorely.

"Fin!"

"Alright," dragged Finley as she softly wrapped Talia's leg with a band-aide. "Better?"

Elira looked down her bed and took out the First-Aid Kit. She hopped on her bed and gazed at her leg as Talia muttered something. "Um, what do I do?" Elira called everyone.

"What do you mean?" Cassandra asked from her bed.

"I'm not sure what to do with my leg," Elira said.

"Wrap a bandage around it," Cassandra said.

"But . . ."

"Here, lemme help you," Scarlett said, hurrying over to Elira with her broken arm. "I'm fine," Scarlett said before Elira could ask. "I always am, don't worry."

"Are we even having breakfast today?" Finley groaned as they all sat on their beds, staring at the ceiling of the cabin.

"I dunno," Alexis said from her bed. "Doesn't look like it."

"Are you saying," Finley said, jumping up from her bed, "we aren't going to eat anything today? Are we starving ourselves?"

Luciana groaned and said, "No, Fin, we'll have something. The Professors know that we have to eat, don't they?"

"Doesn't look like it," Elira heard Finley mutter.

"Elira, did you get your gadgets yet?" Talia asked.

"Oh damn," Vanessa said from her bed. "We forget about Elira's gadgets! How is she going to protect herself?"

"Here's a good idea," Finley said. "Why don't we go and get Elira's gadgets so she can protect herself?"

"That's a good way," Victoria said. "I can't, my leg's hurt."

"I'll go," Alexis volunteered. "My hand's a bit hurt, but I can take her."

"Are we going to Miss Hudspeth's office?" Elira asked as she and Alexis were outside, both of them limping a little.

"Um . . ." Alexis said, racking her brain. "No, I think it's Professor Trent. As I remember, I think that she gives out the gadgets."

"Oh," Elira said. "Where is Professor Trent's classroom?"

"Down here," Alexis replied as she pointed to a path. "It's fun, I promise. Professor Trent is kind of the only teacher who has fun things in their classrooms."

Down the bushy path was a wooden cottage where sounds of saws could be heard. The wooden cottage looked cozy and had pretty plants around the house.

"Woahhhh," Elira said as she smiled. "This is so cool -"

"It is," Alexis said as she chuckled. "It's one of my favorite classes because of this. Here, let's knock on the door."

Alexis hopped on the front porch and knocked on the door and said loudly, "Hello? Professor Trent? It's me, Alexis Taylor and I'm here with Elira Brown! We're here to get Elira's gadgets!"

The door opened and a wheezy-looking Professor Trent appeared. "Oh, hello! Come in, come in!"

Elira and Alexis smiled and came into the house. It was a cozy house, with rugs and polaroid pictures everywhere. There was a big table with screws, screwdrivers, wrenches, and other sorts of mechanical things.

"Wow," Elira said. "This place is legit cool."

"Why, thank you," Professor Trent said, as she smiled. "So . . . how are you guys? You all seem to hurt."

"We're okay," Alexis said as she winced a little. "We're here to get Elira's gadgets."

"Elira's gadgets! Yes!" Professor Trent said as she turned around to a group of cabinets and started searching for something in particular. "It ought to be somewhere here," she muttered to herself as she looked through all of the cabinets, hurriedly. "Aaaah, here it is!" Professor Trent said as she took one basket out of a cabinet, and gave it to Elira. "Here they are, Elira."

There were a lot of gadgets in the little basket. "Oh wow," Elira said, excitedly as she rummaged through them.

"We'll go now, Professor Trent," Alexis said as she smiled at the sight of Elira being excited about the gadgets. "Come on, Elira."

"How do I learn how to do all these gadgets?" Elira asked as she and Alexis stepped outside of the house.

"I can teach you! Well, Fin's better at that," Alexis said as she pointed at a big crossbow. "It's Fin's specialty."

"Alexis! Elira!" a quiet voice hissed.

Elira's heart beat faster, and Alexis turned around to see who it was. Elira slowly turned around.

"Alexis! Elira!" the voice hissed again.

"Show yourself!" barked Alexis. "Who are you? Don't do anything stupid, I'm armed!" She grabbed a gun out of Elira's basket. "Don't mind if I use this."

"Alexis, calm down! It's me, Finley Walter!" snapped the voice.

"How do I know?" asked Alexis, not dropping the gun. "How do I know you're Finley?"

Finley stepped out of the bushes, "My middle name's Lynn. Proof enough, Alexis, or should I continue?"

Alexis dropped the gun back into Elira's basket. "What're you doing here, Fin?" she finally asked Finley.

"I saw the gleam of light that saved us again," Finley said, gulping a little. "It's in the woods. Are you coming?"

"Coming where?" asked Elira.

"No, Fin, we are not - I repeat, not - coming with you to help you find the gleam of light that saved us," Alexis said stubbornly.

"Alright. 'Bye," Finley said as she shrugged and hurried back into the bushes.

"You always make me want to come, Finley!" Alexis called after Finley. "Come on, Elira, we better help Finley, or else she'll get lost, and then, she'll blame it on us."

"B-but, my gadgets! Where do I put them?" asked Elira, pointing at her basket.

"BRING 'EM WITH YOU!" shouted Finley. "Is that so hard?"

~~~
"Let's go back now," Elira said, a little panic in her voice. "Isn't this of bounds area?"
"We didn't even finish five minutes and you already want to go, Elira? Oh c'mon, where's your reckless side?" Finley asked as Alexis rolled her eyes.
"I don't have one?" Elira asked, uncertainly.
"Everyone has a reckless side!" gasped Finley, offended.
"Well - LOOK!" Alexis pointed at the end tail of something fiery. She put her hands to her lips and they all walked slowly towards it, their hearts beating faster every second.
"Aw shoot, you scared it away, Alexis!" Finley said, disappointedly, as the gleam of light hurried away. "Split up, tell me if you see anything."
Elira dropped her basket in front of a tree, grabbed a crossbow, and hurried west, while Alexis and Finley hurried off opposite directions.
The west side was slightly dark. Elira's rapid breathing was louder now, and every movement was scary to her.
And then she saw it. The yellow gleam of light, hovering over, meters from her. Her instincts were taking the better of her, and she ran, not even daring to look behind her, to catch up to the gleam of light.
But she regretted it, as it was a dead end. The gleam of light hurried down a cliff, and Elira saw it go into another set of woods.
"What," Elira gasped as she stared down the cliff. "What even is that?"
And just like that, she felt her foot slip near the edge.Β
