CHAPTER TWENTY-SEVEN
BAR FIGHT
; ♡⋆.ೃ࿔*
Betty had asked if Chris wanted to go to Pop's to hang out, but he knew who would be there. And since things weren't quite okay between him and Veronica, he shot her down. Although he would have to talk to the raven-haired girl sooner or later, Chris wanted to hold off on doing so for a little longer. The whole situation was too much to add to the whole problems going on with everything else.
So, as he sat inside his apartment with Olivia, Kaitlyn and Riley, he continued to draw in his book. Hearing the pair talking about something not exactly important to Chris. His main focus on the drawing of whatever was appearing on the page. Ignoring the pain pulsating through his body a couple of nights after the whole fiasco at Fred's worksite.
There had been no leads to what had happened and Chris wasn't surprised. He believed it was Clifford Blossom who put out the hit, but he wasn't going to say until he was entirely sure. The Blossom's were like a second family, and he wasn't going to go around saying they were involved. And the same went for the Serpents. They wouldn't lay a hand on him since he was the Serpent king's son. That would just be asking for them to be killed.
His thoughts were interrupted as Olivia's voice could be heard. "Right, Chris?" He looked up and frowned at her. "What'd you say?" He asked and she adjusted herself on the couch. "I said that we should figure out who jumped you and Moose." She explained and Chris nodded, not interested as he continued drawing. "Yeah, sure." Chris wasn't planning on sticking his nose in that business. It would only cause more problems than help, so staying as far away from it was his plan.
And as of right now, his attention wasn't on what happened, but instead focused on the fact that both Kaitlyn and Riley were leaving later tonight. It had come as a random piece of news for Chris as they both sprung the information on him so suddenly when they arrived at his apartment. When he heard they were leaving for college and going to the same one, of course, he was happy but sad at the same time.
They had been his friends for so long that it hurt to see them go, but he knew they had bright futures ahead of them and wasn't going to try and convince them otherwise. Both of them had been there for him when he needed them, so the least he could do was let him be happy with one another and live their lives. It was a bittersweet ending for him, but he was also happy they could hang out one last time before they would have to leave. He knew they hadn't been hanging out as much as they used to, and he felt horrible for it, but he also had bigger things going on in his life. They didn't seem like they needed him and he was happy they didn't have to come to him and ask if they should leave.
"So, what's your guys' plan? You movin' in together in New York?" Chris asked, glancing up at the couple who were sprawled out across his couch cuddling one another. They looked like a couple Chris would try and take after since they genuinely loved one another. "Yeah. Gonna be getting a dog and everything." Riley explained with a wide smile as Kaitlyn stared up at him with admiration. A dreamy look on her face made Chris smile warmly at them. "I'm happy and at this rate, you two will be having kids." He quipped and the pair laughed.
A ding could be heard throughout the phone and Olivia looked down at her phone. All eyes focused on her as she quickly looked at Chris. "We need to go." She exclaimed, getting to her feet and rushing to grab her jacket on the back of the couch. "Why, what's up?" Kaitlyn beat Chris to the question as he got up from his chair and began gathering his things. "Jughead texted me telling me that Archie was going to be showing up at the White Wyrm to question the Serpents about what happened with Chris and Moose." She explained quickly as Chris slipped his shoes on with a frown.
"They wouldn't do anything. They know who I am and what would happen if they laid a hand on me." He pointed out and Riley nodded. "Yeah, Chris is right. Do you need me to come with?" He asked, directing the last part to Chris who shook his head. "You two can stay or leave. I don't want you to get arrested and not be able to go to New York." He told them quickly before rushing out of the apartment with Olivia behind him.
When they got outside, they jogged over to Chris's mustang and got inside. Chris didn't waste his time with doing his seatbelt since he pulled out of the parking lot furiously and put his foot to the ground. Hearing the squealing of his tires as he took off in the direction of the bar. Now, this wouldn't have been a problem if FP wasn't a Serpent, which was a hidden part of the Jones's life that they didn't like sharing. It was something kept under wraps since they felt ashamed to admit that their dad was the leader of the Serpents. The only people that knew were Olivia, Riley, and Kaitlyn and that was already too many.
So, as Chris came to a screeching halt in front of the bar, he didn't care to shut off the car as he slammed the door shut and made a beeline inside. Earning a confused look to Joaquin who was standing outside the bar. Olivia stayed close behind Chris as they entered the bar and earned glares from everyone around. He ignored them as he let Olivia grab a handful of his jacket as they walked through quickly.
The one person he didn't want to see appeared as he huffed in annoyance. "Get the fuck out of the way, Sweetpea." He said sharply as the boy toward over him with a few inches. "Why are you here, Chris? And why the hell did you bring a Blossom in here with you?" Sweetpea questioned furiously and Chris smirked as he stepped into the boys space. "You know, now I remember why I came here." He mocked with a look of realization. "I came to fuck your mom, and bend her right over that pool table."
Those words caused Sweetpea to grab the Jones by the collar and force him against the counter. "You motherfucker." Sweetpea growled and Chris smirked. "I dare you to hit me. See what happens, buddy." He urged, a taunting smile on his lips just as Toni came over with Fang's beside her. "Knock it off, Sweetpea." She said sharply as the boy glanced at her and back to Chris. Still holding that smile that could piss off an entire army of people.
There had always been a rivalry between the pair since kids. Always getting in fights on the Southside whenever one of them insulted each other. Chris had won some and lost some against the older boy, but they never could stop fighting each other. It was almost like they were magnets to beat each other up at all costs. Quite funny actually.
After a few moments, Sweetpea shoved the boy roughly and let him go. Chris adjusted his jacket, reaching over and fixing Sweetpea's denim jacket and smirking. Patting his chest in a cocky way as he walked past with Olivia continuing to hold onto him for dear life.
"Woah, Jones. Who's this?" Toni questioned, a slight smirk on her lips as she looked Olivia up and down. "Uh, Olivia Blossom. Nice to meet you." Olivia introduced a tiny smile on her lips. "And also we won't be here long, Topaz. Where's my dad?" He asked sharply as the girl scoffed, still nodding her head up to the stairs leading to the balcony of the bar. "Thanks and also, keep your boys under control. Might start a fight with the wrong person." Chris told her, nodding to Sweetpea who clenched his jaw.
"I'm gonna-" Before Sweetpea could finish, Chris punched the boy in the nose and knocked him on his ass. Shaking his hand from the slight pain as Sweetpea held his bleeding nose while Toni was crouched down beside her friend. About to yell at the Jones before seeing him and Olivia walking up the stairs towards the balcony.
Coming to the top, Chris moved through the people, his hand now holding Olivia's. He didn't want to be here, but he wasn't exactly in the mood to deal with all this bullshit with his dad and Archie. At the moment, he wanted to be back at his apartment and hanging out with his friends. Maybe he wasn't allowed to ever rest, and if he wasn't then, he was going to be angry for a very good amount of days.
Stopping at one of the offices, Chris didn't care to knock as he barged in and saw his dad sitting behind his desk. A look of shock at seeing his oldest so suddenly and unexpectedly. "Chris, what are you doing here?" FP asked and Chris sighed as shut the door behind him. "First; I need you to get out of here, alright? Archie's showing up with some Bulldogs. I don't know-" Chris began, but FP cut him off. "Now, hold on, son. Archie Andrews is comin'?" He asked and Chris nodded in response. "Which is why I need us to get out of here." FP didn't respond as he grabbed his phone and began calling someone.
With a huff, Chris turned to Olivia and motioned for them to step outside. Leaning against the railing and instantly spotting the bright blue and gold letterman jacket belonging to Archie. Kevin, Archie, and Moose were standing near the pool table where they were playing pool. It caused Olivia to grumble in annoyance as she ran a hand through her red hair.
They only felt more annoyed when Chris saw Archie walking towards Mustang, a member of the Serpents. The only reassurance he felt was when his dad stepped out of his office. "You two, go out the back. I'll deal with red." He told them and Chris was about to protest, but FP held his finger up at the boy. "Just go, CJ. Take the Blossom with you, now." He told them sharply, and for once, Chris nodded and grabbed Olivia's hand and began taking her in the direction to the back door.
"What's your dad going to do?" Olivia asked as they stepped out into the cold night. "Probably kick them out. Let's just focus on getting back to the car." He told her as they rounded the corner to the front of the bar. Quickly walking across the parking lot and soon arriving at Chris' mustang. They got in just as Archie and the others got kicked out with FP following Archie and stopping him.
Archie didn't turn at first since he and Olivia made eye contact and Chris could sense the tension building. So, quickly, he drove out of the bar parking lot and turning sharply down the street. Glancing at his friend who had a slightly saddened look on her face. Reaching across the centre of the car, he grabbed her hand. Letting his thumb brush over her knuckles gently as he got a text.
Grumbling in annoyance, Chris let go of Olivia's hand and pulled his phone out of his pocket. One hand holding the steering wheel and the other holding his phone. It's Polly shower. Don't leave me alone here, please. Jughead had texted, making Chris chuckle quietly and shut his phone off and tossing it onto the dash. Scratching his stubble as he glanced at Olivia. "How does a baby shower sound 'bout now for you?" He asked and the girl glanced at him with a smile. "It sounds perfect if I'm being honest." That made Chris smile as he nodded and looked back down at the road.
As much as he didn't want to see Veronica, he was going to deal with it for tonight. It was in support of Polly and Betty's family in general. He didn't care much about it, but if his brother wanted him there and Olivia wanted to be there then he would go. Despite the conflicting thoughts in the back of his mind as he placed both hands on the steering wheel with a slight bit of the inside of his cheek.
"Veronica's it is then."
