Episode: Season 9 - Mother's Little Helper Pt. 2Β Β
It was the next morning as I woke up in an empty bed that I realized he hadn't come home the night before. But what I noticed above all else was the sweet, delicious scent of pancakes floating into the bedroom from down the hall. I frowned, who in the world... Slowly getting to my feet, I pulled on one of my old ripped denim button-up shirts from the floor on over my pajamas and made my way down the long corridor before turning into the kitchen. And the sight that met my eyes was enough to make all my previous anger melt away. Dean stood flipping pancakes with Yasmin on his hip, our daughter beaming happily up at him, and Roman, banging his fists away in excitement at the highchair he was tucked into.
I coughed then to alert them of my presence, almost regretful at breaking up the happy scene. But as soon as those candy-apple green eyes met mine, my heart stopped like it always had and he beamed over at me before setting down a plateful of pancakes on the table. Setting Yasmin down in her seat before pressing a sweet kiss to her cheek, eliciting a giggle from the small child, he made his way over to me.
"What's all this for?" I asked, nodding my head to the scene in front of me.
"Peace offering?" he said hopefully and I rolled my eyes before he pressed on, "No, look, I...I really messed up last night, Parker. I did and...I never meant to take it that far. And I'm sorry. For all of it,"
Slowly, a smile broke out across my face and I nodded, "I know. It's not you, though, not really. And I know that. Don't worry, you're forgiven. Just don't let it happen again, okay? She doesn't deserve that,"
Dean nodded somberly in reply before he stepped over to the radio station sitting on the counter and wordlessly flicked the dial to 'on'. Instantly, a lighthearted tune filled up the room and the kids danced in their seats happily as I laughed, rolling my eyes as I let Dean take my hand in his.
I met you in the dark, you lit me up
I grinned at the lyrics, shaking my head while Dean's other hand went to my waist, pulling me close as we began to sway to the music.
"You made me feel as though I was enough," Dean sang in my ear quietly, making me giggle like a teenager, blushing scarlet.
We danced the night away, we drank too much
My mind went back to that night he'd danced with me at the party, the night we'd first confessed our feelings for each other - our first kiss on the hood of the Impala. It all seemed so long ago now and in truth, it had been 9 years ago now.
Dean pulled me closer then, breath warm against my skin, eyes fluttering shut as he sang softly, "I knew I loved you then but you'd never know 'cause I played it cool when I was scared of letting go,"
"I knew I needed you but I never showed," I continued where he left off, nuzzling against the crook of his neck, "But I wanna stay with you until we're gray and old,"
Just say you won't let go, just say you won't let go
Dean took my hand then and spun me out from him. A laugh burst free from my mouth, feeling complete and utter happiness in that moment. And as he spun me back around, I found he had a smile that mirrored mine, reaching up to gently cup his face in my hands.
I wanna live with you
I pressed my forehead against his then, my heart thrumming against my rib-cage as fast as a hummingbird's wings.
"I wanna live with you," Dean sang the lyrics to me, green eyes gazing into mine with an intense love I knew we only felt for each other, "Even when we're ghosts 'cause you were always there for me when I needed you most,"
My own eyes brimmed with tears, knowing he meant everything he sang to me in that moment, even it was only lyrics floating out from an old, cheap radio.
"I'm gonna love you 'till my lungs give out, I promise 'till death we part like in our vows," I sang back to him softly through my tears, "So I wrote this song for you, now everybody knows that it's just you and me 'till we're gray and old,"
Just say you won't let go
Just say you won't let go
He captured my lips then in a sweet but passionate kiss, putting all the love we both had for each other into it. All I could feel in that moment was Dean's skin on mine, his warmth, his touch, his love. And I knew...
Just say you won't let go
Oh, just say you won't let go
I knew it was all that I'd ever wanted in my life: to be in love with him - my Dean Winchester.
