CHAPTER ONE : PART ONE
WHERE THE LOYALTIES LIE
RAIN FELL HARD OUTSIDE OF THE BAR, THE WATER CREATING TRACKS ALONG THE WINDOW AS THE WIND HOWLED. Carlisle Cullen stood with his son, Edward Cullen, while Edward's newborn wife kept their child safe in her arms. A shifter stood on guard as his eyes darted around the building.
"What are we waiting for doc?" Jacob asked arms crossed over his chest.
"An old friend." The blonde vampire answered as he sat at the bar, eyes shifting over the many pictures that he recognized.
"Can we trust him, Carlisle?" Bella muttered, and the doctor hummed, eyes locked on the photo of the immortal they had come to see, and from the reflection in the photo, he could see Silas lurking in the shadows.
"Only if he finds us innocent." Carlisle spoke softly as he turned his body to face one of the dark corners of the room, eyes narrowed. "If he would come out a talk, it would help."
A deep chuckle echoed around the room as a figure stepped out of the darkness. He was tall, with a dark suit on, red eyes gleaming, and a smirk on his face as he met the eyes of the Cullens and Jacob.
"Carlisle, it has been a long time old friend." The strange vampire chuckled as he walked forward and Carlisle smiled politely.
The blonde vampire was intimidated by the male's aura. A deep cloud of fear surrounding him, one that was very familiar to him, but he shook it off.
"It's good to see you, Silas." The blonde tool Silas outstretched hand and brought him into a hug. When he pulled back, Silas raised an eyebrow. "We need help, we have been accused of something we did not do, and the Volturi are after us."
Silas held back at hiss at the mention of the Volturi, remembering when Aro Volturi had betrayed him. He had longed for a chance at revenge but at the same time, it would depend on the crime if he would help the Cullens or not.
"What did you do?" He asked narrowing his eyes and Carlisle sighed turning to face Edward and Jacob and when the two males moved bright red met deep brown.
"You-but, how thi-this..." Silas stuttered something he rarely did as he looked at young Renesmee. At first glance, he thought she was an immortal child, but as he looked closer he could tell it was not the case. The child had blood rushing through her veins and a slow, but steady heartbeat and her she's were deep pulls of chocolate instead of sparkling rubies.
Silas closed his eyes and sighed, he could smell the fear swarming in the room and he relaxed just a bit as his eyes opened. The male looked at his friend before moving towards the child, narrowing his eyes when the shifter growled.
"I would advise you to watch your tone pup, I may not look it, but I'm older than you think." Silas hissed before turning back to the child.
The vampire jerked back when the girl reached to touch his cheek, hands clenching into fists. "It's okay Silas, " He met Carlisle's gaze. "This is how she communicates."
Silas nodded and allowed the child to cup his cheek and suddenly memories that we're not his own flashed in his mind. The truth, the pain, the horror all flowed through him and he jerked back quickly.
"In all my years." He said after a minute of silence, holding onto his chest. "I have never seen anything like her."
Carlisle looked upset at this. "Never?"
The red-eyed vampire shook his head softly. "I'm sorry Carlisle, but not even I know everything."
"How old are you exactly?" Bella asked and Silas seemed to think about it.
"Around 300,000 years give or take a decade." He shrugged, and Carlisle chuckled at Bella's shocked face.
"Silas is one of the oldest vampires in the world and is actually my creator." Silas nodded before he turned back to Edward.
"My coven and I will help you." Then a cruel smirk twisted onto his face. "It's time Aro be reminded of who really runs the Volturi."
━━━
"SILAS THIS IS STUPID, YOU KNOW THAT RIGHT?" Cecilia asked as she watched Renesmee touch Peter's cheek, the long-haired male going into a daze like state. Tiana, her mate, watched with a smirk as she sat criss-cross on the bar.
"I'm aware Cel." The male muttered as he took a drink of scotch, the bitter taste satisfying the itch in his throat. Blood mixed into the alcohol, making it drinkable to the vampire. "But, the Cullens are innocent. Renesmee is not an immortal child."
"Yes, but still she could be a threat." Edward tensed at the female's words and was immediately on edge, as well as Bella and Jake.
Tiana and Peter straightened up as they looked to the leaders of the two Covens. Silas was watching Renesmee with a calculating gaze.
"Whether or not you are right little sister, only time will tell. But she needs a chance." Silas mumbled downing the rest of his drink. "Besides Aro has abused his power for too long, its time someone shows him it can easily be taken away."
Cecilia was silent after that and Silas sighed. This was not going to be an easy task, but he could tell by his coven's faces that they were up for the challenge.
So was he.
