โ•ฐโ”ˆหš ยท ยฐ . ย APPARENTLY, MONONUCLEOSIS HAD STRIKED AGAIN. ย This excuse was starting to sound more and more ridiculous the longer we used it. Not like it wasn't in the first place, but still. This time, opposite to just skipping two weeks of school all of us again, we had decided to do shifts to keep an eye on the two new supernatural creatures.

Just as predicted, Paul, differently from Sam and Jared, had way less control on his phasing. His anger burned too high and too constantly. In other words, he was a ticking time bomb.

Kim, on the other hand, had mastered her elemental skills way sooner and easier than both Amelia and I. She understood earth, what it needed, it was more a give and take kind of thing for her. She had a bond with nature that went deeper than ours since her element was earth. It helped her grounded, and with that, the effects of her accidentally triggering her powers were less serious. And, of course, it helped that she was way less temperamental then both Mia and I. If I had to describe Kimberly with just a couple of words. it would be a ray of sunshine. I could see why Jared had imprinted on her, they were a perfect match, and fortunately, she was actually happy about it when Jared had revealed the truth to her. Now they were sickening us with their love.

Maddison, Kim, Amelia and I were all sprawled on the grass, relaxing from once other than training. We had a light chat going on, nothing serious that would mean using more than a few brain cells.

"He is going to shift again." Mia commented, sliding her sunglasses up as she glanced at Paul who had just walked out to the backyard after slamming the door shut behind him. His body was trembling, the color of his face shading to red. This wasn't the first time that he had shifted today because of his anger.

"Shouldn't one of you go there and help him?" Maddison asked, her head tilted slightly to the side as she continued to thread her fingers through the earth with dark chestnut hair.

"We should?" I asked, closing my eyes once again as I tried to relax.

"I mean, she isn't wrong." Kim replies "Isn't helping the wolves kind of one of our responsibilities?"

"My only responsibility right now is to relax." I said completely seriously. Between all the new training, school and work, I was not going to let Paul Lahote wild rage ruin this moment for me.

I heard the door open and close again, my brother's voice following. "You need to control your anger more. This is one of the reasons why you can't be around people that do not know about this." his tone was stern, this wasn't Sam Uley my brother, but the alpha of the pack that talked to his third-in-command.

"This is bullshit." Paul spat back before a roar echoed in the backyard.

He had shifted again.

With a collective groan, we all stood up to see the alpha trying to reign in his third-in-command. Without success, might I add. Then, the following second, we had two wolves insted of one. A battle of dominance going on.

"This is bullshit." I said, rather annoyed by the turn of the events.

Growling filled the air, minutes passed before reluctantly Paul lowered his head accepting Sam as the alpha. He was strong, I could at least give him that. Resisting the pull of an alpha was not easy.

"Are you two done?" I asked, deadly staring at the two. They had interrupted our relaxation time. This time around it was me that was angry. "Do you need to piss to mark the territory too or you can shift back now?" I asked to my brother before turning towards the other wolf. "You, go in the forest for a run and shake as much anger out as you can. You start school again tomorrow, and as much as I would like to be as far away from you as possible, you staying with your group of friends that share the same single brain cell is not an option anymore." As the two only stayed there, looking at me without doing what I had asked, well more commanded to do, I snapped. "Now!" And with that I returned to my friends. The only difference was that now Kim was all over Jared that had come out from the house too. "And you two try to not fuck in my backyard. Thank you." I said before lowering myself down to my previous position laying down comfortably on the soft grass.

Paul took off soon after that, only sparing a glance in my direction, that I saw from my peripheral view, before sprinting into the forest. Sam came back in his cropped shorts a little after that, sitting down with us on the grass with a tired sigh.

"His anger is a problem. We have to keep an eye on him at school." He told us.

"I take that he was not happy about not seeing his friends anymore." Mia said.

"That would be an euphemism." Snorting at what Amelia had said, Jared replied.

โ•ฐโ”ˆหš ยท ยฐ . ย Everyone had left for their own home leaving me alone in my backyards. Even Sam, as it was his turn to patrol. I was sitting with my back to the back porch, my head resting on my hand as I drew. My mind was for once calm, at peace. The sun was lowering leaving the sky in hues of blue, orange and pink. On the other side, the moon slowly rising, already a couple of stars visible.

Branches snapped in the forest, leaves crunching under someone's weight. Gray fur and white spots, dark eyes with mahogany shades. He was a beautiful wolf, I could acknowledge that. And in that moment, with the birds chirping at the sunset, no anger to be felt, I didn't feel the need to snap at him.

Paul slowly stepped forward, almost as he was approaching a cornered animal that was ready to lash out. I couldn't help but chuckle at that. He titled his head, his ears twitching at the sound.

"I'm not going to launch fireballs at you, don't worry." I said out loud. He blinked once, twice. I could almost see the reply to that written all over in his eyes. 'Should I believe you?' They said.

Step after careful step, he came forward until he was directly in front of me. "If you need to tell me something you can just use the mind link." I told him. I scrunched my nose, not understanding what the hell was he doing.

But he shook his head, lowering down until his head was resting on his paws. I didn't know what the fuck was going on, but I had the sudden urge to drew him. So I did just that. I turned to a blank page and I started to draw him. Carefully detailing the way the white spots arrived on his snout and around his eyes, the way his ears were lowered down or how his fur was, hair by hair. The only color aside from the shades, were his eyes. Beautiful eyes.

Night had long ascended, the few garden lights to shine the backyard were helped by the random flames that I would create around us to help me see. It was that look in his eyes that I wanted to capture the best. The amazement, the way he had no barriers to shield him. It was a rare sight. And I found myself being pulled to it more than I wanted to admit it.
