Chapter- 7

Author's pov:

"You are telling me that Mr. Jeon has been setting him up on blind dates?" He asked, placing his glass of red wine back on the table that was draped neatly with a black cloth.

The man in front of him gave a nod, "Mhm. Apparently, all of them were a failure."

"Reasons?"

The man sighed, "Unknown. But I found something for you, it kinda gives me a hint of what Jungkook is like." He pulled out his phone and skimmed through it until his finger landed on a specific post, he handed Jimin his phone and added, "He is the last guy Jungkook went on a date with, they met last week."

Jimin's eyes scanned the photo, Jungkook smiled brightly as he held a fork and spoon, ready to dig into his food, while the other man smiled cheesily at the camera in his blue and white suit. The photo was posted by that man in his social media account which was public, making it easy to find out everything about him.

"He is Lim Siyun, President of FU software company. He is a bit older than you and is the biggest fan of Mr. Jeon. And according to the information I have received, it seems like he doesn't like dark places. Maybe a dark room? Or at night...a dark forest? It can be anything. And Jungkook likes darkness."

Jimin just nodded and hummed, "Anything else about Jungkook?" he asked, pushing back his phone.

The man shook his head, "None as of now, but I will keep you updated if I find something. But most of the information is in that file, I'm sure Taehyung hasn't missed anything." He paused and then suddenly chuckled as he looked at Jimin.

"What are you laughing at, babe?"

"It's surprising how you are so interested in this guy on the first meet." He said, grinning.

That question made him snort for the nth time in the last thirty minutes.

As promised, he had gone to meet his babe and was provided with some information. And he was surprised too, just why was he intrigued by that student? Grabbing Park Jimin's attention is so hard yet that kid was able to capture his mind in a minute.

He rested his head back on the leather chair, as he slightly spun around, his blue orbs focused on the cassette air conditioner on the lit ceiling. He was currently in the villa's vintage-styled library. The library was an important place for him, in fact, his favorite one.

There were two large shelves, containing books, medals and awards that the cousins achieved in their school life, standing against the wooden panel wall. Across them were three other shelf cabinets which carried important files, and in the middle of the room was a wooden table and a black leather chair, in which he was seated. Opposite of him were two other chairs, and on the right side, a large couch was placed, and a huge window covered with curtains on his left.

He closed his eyes, enjoying the cool air that was hitting him. Maybe he knew why he was attracted to that guy. He had read everything about him, Jungkook was similar to him. Their first meeting was sweet to him but the ending was kind of sour. His mind played a flashback.

"You don't know me?" He had asked, flabbergasted. How come someone not know who he was?

"Why should I know you? Are you the Prime minister of our country? Or did you save me from dying in my past life?" Jungkook asked, glaring. He was literally taken aback by the response, he was expecting students like him to swarm him with compliments and proposals but this person in front of him was...completely different.

"Who the fuck doesn't know me?" He yelled, frustrated as he slammed his fist on the table.

"Me." Jimin squeaked trying to cover his head for God knows what reason as he looked at Falynn leaning by the door in a white shirt which was too big for her, it was paired with black shorts. She looked as cute as always.

"What are you doing here?" He questioned, composing himself and sitting back straight.

Falynn giggled closing the door and walked over to him, her high heels were now replaced with black fur slippers. She sat in one of the chairs in front of him, "I came to meet Tan as I wasn't able to attend his match and now Taehyung asked me to stay over for the night as it's too late."

"He is right. Did you guys have dinner?"

"We did. Aunt Laura makes the best food, huh." She giggled.

Jimin joined her and said, "Please refrain from saying this in front of Uncle Hajun, you know how he is."

She nodded, "Anyways, When did you come back?"

Jimin thought for a while, "It's been twenty minutes since I came back, I guess. You guys were probably by the swimming pool as I heard lots of noises."

She chuckled, "Yeah, Tan and Taehyung were bickering and wouldn't stop at all so I pushed both of them into the pool so they could shut up for a while."

Just then the door opened slightly and Taehyung walked in with a tray of three mugs of hot chocolate, "That was so mean of you, Fal," he snorted as he kicked the door shut behind him and approached them.

Jimin chuckled and rolled his eyes. "Don't you dare start a fight now." He pointed at both of them as Taehyung laughed and placed the tray on the table handing each of them a mug and sat on top of the table.

"A hot chocolate in this chilly night serves right, don't you think?" he said, taking a sip while they agreed. He then looked at Falynn and scowled, "Why are you wearing my clothes?"

She shrugged, "Because your clothes make me look cuter."

"Huh. You better wash them properly tomorrow."

"Whatever, Kim."

Jimin cleared his throat, grabbing their attention and asked, "Did Tan sleep?"

"Yes, he talked a lot about his university and then fell asleep on my lap. Isn't he just cute?" Falynn squealed, making them laugh.

"Forget that." Taehyung uttered and fixed his gaze on his cousin. "So, how was the dinner?"

Jimin placed his mug on the table and replied, "Went well, I missed him a lot. And we talked about Jungkook."

Falynn's eyes sparkled as she moved her chair a bit closer to the table. "Right, what are you gonna do with him? And most importantly, Jimin, you asked for his background just in one meeting. So curious about him, huh?"

Just when Jimin was about to open his mouth to answer, Taehyung beat him to it. "How wouldn't he be?" he guffawed, "Ninety nine point nine nine percent of the country knows who Park Jimin is, but you see that one percent? That's where sassy Jungkook comes from."

Falynn chortled looking at Jimin, who just rolled his eyes and sulked in his seat, a cute pout decorating his face. She and Taehyung gave each other a high five as they laughed at him.

"Wow, he is good. Finally, we have someone who can shut him up." Falynn uttered, pointing at Jimin who was ready to push her out of the villa.

"Shut up." He rolled his eyes. "I want him to know who I am. I can't handle disrespect, you know it." The two nodded.

"Then, why don't you go and meet him? Show him your business card," She suggested, shrugging.

Taehyung shook his head. "Nah, that's too rude. His first impression already went bad, this will make it worse." Falynn hummed.

"Exactly. I need to be careful this time. But I wonder how he made a friend..." Jimin pondered.

"Who are his friends?" Falynn asked, leaning closer to them.

"He only has one friend and that's Jung Hoseok." Taehyung answered, sipping his drink.

"Jung Hoseok?"

Taehyung nodded and turned his attention to his cousin, "So, what are you gonna do, Jimin?

"I want to approach him."

"Really?"

The latter hummed and with twinkling eyes he replied, "I actually wanna make him my friend so-"

"Friend!?" The two of them exclaimed, abruptly standing up from their seats, looking at him with wide eyes, Jimin flinched at their loud voices and watched how their calm faces had turned into shocked ones. Why were they reacting that way? He had not said anything wrong in the first place.

"Yes, friend...what's wrong with that?" He glanced at both of them waiting for a reply but the way they were raising a questioning eyebrow at him, he kind of understood what was going on in their tiny heads.

He scoffed, "No, never gonna happen. Just because I ran a background check on him and found him very attractive, doesn't mean I'm interested in him romantically." he elaborated, hoping they would understand.

Taehyung slammed his fist on the table. "How else are you interested in him, Park Jimin?" he yelled with gritted teeth whilst Falynn crossed her arms over her chest.

A sigh escaped his lips as he leaned in to explain them properly, he clasped his palms together and said, "Look, Jungkook sounds similar to me. He is kinda rude, doesn't socialize much and seems like he has a lot of trust issues, that's how I am, right? You know the feeling of finding someone who matches your vibe and you just desperately want them to be your friend?" He looked at them eagerly but all he found was emptiness in their eyes as they stared down at him.

Taehyung puffed out a breath as he sat back on the table and sipped his hot chocolate while they both had emptied theirs. "Whatever," he uttered and gave Falynn a look, who gave a slight nod in return and plopped down on the chair and relaxed. Jimin failed to notice their tiny interaction.

Whilst one was thinking about how to make a new friend, the other two were busy planning something internally for their dear friend.

"Guys, help me out!" Jimin whined in frustration, he couldn't get Jungkook out of his head.

Falynn nodded, "Well, your first impression was bad so you gotta redeem it somehow," she said, tapping her fingers on the wooden table.

Jimin looked at his cousin who raised his eyebrows questioningly and realized that he wanted him to say something so he cleared his throat, "Uh...How do you approach an introvert?"

They rolled their eyes and sighed, Jimin asked, "If I go to meet him tomorrow, as soon as he sees me, he will definitely walk away. He is not gonna listen to whatever I say." He groaned, his tone telling them that he was already thinking of giving up. After all, if someone approached him, he wouldn't talk or listen to them either. Why waste time on useless things? That's what he would say, but would waste his time on useless things unknowingly.

Taehyung snorted and scolded him, "Come on, Jim. You can't give up so soon, you gotta keep trying if you really wanna be with him-" Jimin shot him a glare and he quickly added in a mumble, "-like a friend..." Jimin hummed and began staring into space.

"See, Jimin. If he runs away, block his way. Tell him you are sorry for what happened last time, I mean for your stupidity. Let him know your true intentions," Falynn said. "I'm sure he will let it go and listen to you." she smiled reassuringly, raising hopes in Jimin, who slowly nodded.

A minute of silence engulfed the room as they all stared into a distance before Taehyung broke the silence, "So, when are you planning to meet him?"

Jimin looked up at him and his plump lips turned into a smirk as he replied, "Tomorrow."

••

"Oh, Jungkook! That's not how you make an omelet." Jin whined as he dried his hair with a towel after dressing up, he was tired especially after dropping off Jungkook at home, from the bar. He wanted a good sleep, without anyone disturbing him but today wasn't actually his day as Jungkook had called him at midnight.

Jin sighed, "You don't add sugar! You add salt, Jeon Jungkook. Salt!" he cried, fisting his hair, ready to punch the younger one through the phone, "You know what, just leave it. I'm calling aunt Choi to cook you food, you just stay away from the kitchen." and Jungkook did as he was told and hung up the call.

He sighed again, dialing her number and gladly she picked up quickly, he requested her to cook his friend some food and cut the call as soon as she agreed. He plopped down on the bed and sprawled out his limbs, closing his eyes, he gave permission to sleep to take over him.

But his sleep took a u-turn after hearing some noises downstairs, his eyes squirmed open as he sat up with the help of his elbow and tried to listen to what and who was making those noises until he heard his brother calling him.

He stood abruptly and ran outside the room half naked, worried that something might have happened, he rushed downstairs only to see his exhausted father sitting on the sofa and his older brother standing near him with his hands on his hips as if he was fed up with his father.

"What's wrong?" He mumbled, reading the tension in the room.

Sejun, his brother quickly pointed at their father, "Ask him how he is and where he was."

Jin looked at them bewildered for a moment before he proceeded to ask the old man, "Dad, what happened?"

Mr. Kim heaved out a heavy sigh and answered, "It's nothing, son."

Jin stared at him, waiting for him to answer and he groaned, "Ha, I just fainted in my office in the afternoon and was hospitalized till now." He said, waving his hands in front of him as if it was not really a big deal.

"Nothing?" Sejun yelled and scoffed, "Unbelievable. How can you be so casual about it, dad? You were literally unconscious for hours and you say it's not a big deal? Do you know how freaked out I was?" he said, pushing back his hair aggressively as he walked back and forth.

Jin furrowed his eyebrows at his father, he couldn't believe that his father was taking it lightly. He knew the reason behind it because this was not the first time, their dad overworked a lot due to which, he would fall sick, he would even skip meals just to complete the work.

"Again, Dad?" Jin was irritated, he didn't expect this. He thought his dad might have changed, but he was wrong. He couldn't show his anger back in California but now that he was right in front of him, he had to try controlling himself as he had just returned, he didn't want him to sleep in a bad mood.

Mr. Kim shook his head slowly, "I was just trying to get done with all the work as soon as possible so that when you join the company, we can start fresh with a new project-"

Sejun interrupted, "At this point, we are not considering a new project, at least not until you learn how not to take all the burden on yourself." Mr. Kim opened his mouth to speak, however, he cut him off again, "Did you make me the president just to sit on my chair and watch everyone work and do nothing myself?" He shouted, making them flinch.

Jin walked over to him and grabbed his arm, "Calm down, hyung. Don't tire yourself more." he said, softly as he rubbed his arm.

Sejun sighed and seethed, "Do you want to leave us too, just like how mom did?" Mr. Kim shot a glare at his son, he was caught off guard as Sejun suddenly brought up his dead mother. Jin rolled his eyes, not wanting to go back to that heartbreaking day.

"Your mom didn't leave you, Kim Sejun." Mr. Kim uttered with clenched jaw, his hands turned into a fist as he sat there on the couch.

Sejun scoffed, "Yeah, she didn't leave us-" his blazing eyes turned mournful as he added, "Some motherfucker stole her from us."

"Hyung!"

"Kim Sejun!" Mr. Kim shouted as he stood abruptly, ready to teach him a lesson but Sejun had already stormed off into his room upstairs. Jin was worried, he was afraid of the coming days, whenever these two would fight, Sejun would normally be quiet for two days, giving both of them silent treatment until Dad would buy him a present.

"When did he become like this?" Mr. Kim muttered to himself as he headed to his room and shut the door, Jin wanted to say that he had become like that after their mother passed away but he sighed and went to grab a glass of water for his dad before making him smile and get a promise that he would never repeat this mistake.

He knocked on the door and let himself in with a glass, "Dad?" he called, lovingly as he looked at the old men sitting by the bed, lost in thought.

He approached him and offered him the water, "Why are you stressing yourself more?" he asked.

Mr. Kim took the glass from him and chugged down the whole water and answered, "It wasn't my intention to make him angry. You know that I love working..." he trailed off, placing the glass on the side table.

Jin nodded, "I know, but that doesn't mean you work till you are worned out. Dad, you are the CEO and there are many people working under you, why did you even hire them if it's you who's doing all the work?" he questioned, taking a seat beside him.

Mr. Kim smiled a little, "There are some things which only I can handle, Seokjin," He paused before saying, "And Sejun is already busy dealing with the conflicts that occurred in our projects, I can't burden him more."

Jin bit his lips, he didn't know what was going on in the company. K group, was a fashion modeling agency, one of the top modeling agencies in Korea. He had finished his studies abroad and when he was back home, he was to join the agency as the vice president as soon as possible. He had thought of joining a month later as he wanted to enjoy his life before he got busier.

"It would have been easier for me if you had joined soon, but I agree that you gotta enjoy everything. I will try to take care of myself, don't worry." Mr. Kim said, placing a hand on Jin's back gently as he smiled down at him, who stared at him blankly.

He stood up from the bed, ready to go and wash up before he slept, "And till you come, I and Sejun will manage everything." he said, getting inside the bathroom.

Jin stared at the closed white door and gulped, he then looked down at his lap and sighed.

••

"Do you believe him?" Taehyung asked as he and Falynn walked upstairs to their room, leaving Jimin alone in the library who had to attend an urgent call.

"Who? Jimin?" She asked, arching an eyebrow and received a nod, "Not really. I mean, one can never read his mind." She said, rolling her eyes.

"Right. I hope he is joking about being friends with that student." Taehyung mumbled with a sigh.

She inclined her head in agreement as she crossed her arms, "I hope so! I don't want them to end up as friends, I want them to be a cute couple!" She exclaimed.

He chuckled and they came to a halt as they reached the guest room where Falynn would stay for the night. She was about to open the door when Taehyung asked.

"Did you like Jungkook?"

She stopped and slowly turned around to look at him with a puzzled face, he raised his eyebrows waiting for her to answer. She hummed and thought for a while, "He sounds interesting from what I have read so far."

Taehyung nodded slowly and leaned back on the railing behind him, "Then, should we see him directly?"

Falynn tilted her head in confusion, "What do you mean, Mr. Kim Taehyung?" she questioned and saw a smirk making its way to his lips.
