𝐭𝐰𝐨 | Loose Pig & A Favour

──────────❝ 🦕 ❞──────────

Brooklyn and Owen stood on the walkway above the Velociraptor paddock with a bucket on a hook a small distance from them. Below were four gorgeous alternative Raptors named Blue, Charlie, Delta and Echo. While they didn't match what a real Raptor would look like, they were altered into something more eye catching and lethal. Owen was the Alpha of the pack leaving Blue as his Beta, the two held a strong bond but even Owen and Brooke respected that they were still wild animals. Brooke however, she had a bond with Echo that had strengthened over time to the point that she could now put her hand through the bars of the paddock gate and brush her hand down Echo's snout; the scar over her eye from her failed challenge against Blue made her stand out from her sisters.

"Hold!" Owen ordered the Raptors prompting them to stop chasing after the pig allowing it to escape into safety. "Hey!" Owen called for their attention, his hands raised up, "Okay!" Owen pressed a clicker, "Eyes on me! Blue? Blue!" He clicks the button as he and Brooke watched the Raptors snap and growl at one another. "Watch it. Charlie! Hey!" Brooke added as she leaned against the railing, her eyes focused on the four closely. "Don't give me that shit! Delta! Lock it up! Good!" Owen ordered as he shared a nod before Owen turned back to the Raptors, "And we're moving." Owen and Brooke moved towards bucket enticing the Raptors to follow their movements until they reached their target.

"HOLD!" Owen ordered the Raptors and they did indeed stop. "That's good. That is damn good," Owen praised as he pressed on the clicker. "Very good!" Brooke added as she reached into the bucket and pulls out some meat, "See, Charlie, that's what you get!" She tossed the meat to Charlie who promptly snatches it from the air. "Echo, there you go!" Brooke tossed another piece of meat down to Echo who caught it next. "Delta!" Owen called as he tossed some meat down to her. "Blue?" Owen grabbed the largest piece, "This one's for you." He tossed his Beta the dead rat and she caught it, happily munching on the snack. "HOLD! Eyes up!" Owen called gaining their attention, they stood still and tall, "Go." And the Raptors scattered.

"We did it!" Brooke cheered as she and Owen shared a hug while Barry approached the two of them. "You two finally did it," Barry appraised as he shook Owen's hand before hugging Brooke. Unfortunately for the celebrating employees, Vic Hoskins had been watching and he had been left very impressed. "Hoskin," The familiar push of Echo's growl reverberated through Brooklyn's mind, she turned to see the plump man approaching with a wide grin on her face. "Oh Hell," Brooke muttered out before sending a thankful nod to Echo, she bowed her head before chasing after her siblings to play. "Owen," Hoskins called gaining Owen's attention, he shared a look of irritation with Brooke.

"I was starting to think I hired the wrong guys but... damn... you got them eating out of your palm," Hoskins attempted to praise however, it had the opposite effect on the three trainers listening. "You came on a good day. It's not usually a happy ending," Owen replied as he rested his arm around Brooke's shoulders, she stayed silent knowing she would only snap at the greedy man before her. "Is that why neither of you are sending in your reports?" Hoskins asked the two with his arms crossed. "We've been busy," Owen answered him. "Not too busy to cash in your paychecks," Hoskins remarked making Brooke tense up. "What do you need, Buddy?" Owen questioned preventing Brooklyn from snapping at the older man.

"A field test," Hoskins said making Brooke roll her eyes and Owen shake his head. "Hey. I've just seen they can respond to commands. We need to take the research and get it on its feet," Hoskins added, noting the two trainers reactions. "These are wild animals, Hoskins. Trust us, you don't want them in the field," Owen replied. "I just saw a bond. A real bond. Between human and beast," Hoskins told them. "Hey, if you're so sure, why don't you head in. Give 'em a pet, maybe even have a sleepover," Brooke mocked with a raised brow and a fake smile on her face. "You're in our way," Owen added before letting Brooke walk first away from Hoskins.

"Come on. We're the same, Owen. We're dogs of war. We know that the Military needs to reduce casualties," Hoskins preached making Brooke scoff as the man continued, "Some people think that robots are the future. Look, nature gave us the most effective killing machines 75 Million years ago. And now we know they can take orders." Brooke stopped and turned to him with narrowed eyes and her arms crossed, "No, no. You didn't see that they could take orders, Hoskins. You just witnessed intelligent, wild animals listen to their imprinted instructors do a small game for food. That's not commands, that's not soldier worthy... they aren't weapons and they won't follow orders." Hoskins scowled at the woman's stern words, "They would if you commanded them."

Barry and Owen stepped in front of Brooke as she gritted her teeth in anger, the Raptors picking up on her unease becoming unsettled themselves. "We finally make progress and that's the first thing he says? Make a weapon? Command an army?" Barry questions Owen directly in disbelief. "Shit. Come on, gents," Hoskins called as he followed behind the three trainers walking down from the walkway and onto the dirt below. "It's grown up time. Drones can't search tunnels and caves. And they're hackable. The minute a real war breaks out, all that fancy tech is gonna go dark," Hoskins explained to them as they stopped and turned back to his ridiculous attempt to convince them of his greedy, dangerous plan.

"But that tech's not gonna eat them if they forget to feed it," Owen remarked. "And maybe men should stop starting wars," Brooke added with a slight eye roll. "Look at these creatures," Hoskins points to the Raptors, "They've got millions of years of instincts in their cells, instinct that we can program. Their loyalty cannot be bought. These guts are gonna run straight into the enemy's teeth and eat them, belt buckle and all." Brooke scoffed at his words before mumbling, "I wish they'd eat you, belt buckle and all." Barry covered a cough with a laugh while Owen smirked, Hoskins left confused having not heard what she said. "Then what if they decide they wanna be in control?" Owen questioned Hoskins.

"Well, then we remind them who is. We terminate the rogues. Promote only loyal bloodlines," Hoskins answered making Owen and Brooke laugh. "What? What's so funny?" Hoskins asked the two. "I don't know, you come here and you don't learn anything about these animals except what you want to know. You made them, and now you think you own them," Owen answered him. "Oh, but we do own them. Extinct animals have no rights," Hoskins tells him with a smug smirk. "They're not extinct anymore, El Loco," Brooke remarked with a glare while Barry and Owen understood her calling him a 'madman' perfectly.

"Exactly," Hoskins said, unaware he was agreeing with what she called him. "We're sitting on a goldmine and Masrani is using it to stock a petting zoo," Hoskins spoke with spite, "He just wants to teach people some humility. He doesn't make weapons. You think the eighth richest man in the world is only into oil, telecom, and family fun parks? He's so diversified, he doesn't even know what he owns." Brooke scoffed at Hoskins words, she was already gaining a headache from his presence. "How long has InGen been practising this pitch?" Owen asked. "Since the day we hired you out of the Navy. You knew the end game. The animals can replace thousands of boots on the ground," Hoskins stated directly to Owen who was already bored of the man's preaching.

"How many lives would that save? War is part of nature. Look around, every living thing in this jungle is trying to murder the other. Mother nature's way of testing her creations. Refining the pecking order. War is a struggle. Struggle breeds greatness. Without that, we end up with places like this, charging seven bucks a soda," Hoskins finished off, Brooke faked a yawn ignoring his glare. "Do you even hear yourself when you talk?' Owen asked the man "No wonder you aren't married," Brooke muttered, "I'd be divorcing you before you even proposed." Hoskins scoffed before apathetically stating, "This is gonna happen. With or without you boys. Progress always wins." Owen sighed, "Maybe progress should lose for once."

"Pig loose! Pig loose!" Leon called out before trying to catch the pig only to fall off of the railing into the Raptor paddock taking the Raptors' attention from the pig to him. Owen and Brooke rushed forward, the former opened the gate allowing both of them to rush into the cage. "Guys no!" Barry called out as two rangers aimed their weapons at the Raptors. "Hold your damn fire!" Brooke snarled out as she and Owen took steady stances with their hands outstretched. "Put twelve amps in these animals, they're never gonna trust us again," Owen added as Barry pulls Leon out of the paddock and to safety. "Blue, stand down. Stand down," Owen commanded his Beta who had snapped forward.

"Hey, hey! What did I just say?" Owen remarked to his Beta while Brooke focused on Delta sneaking up. "We see you Delta," Brooke growled before focusing, "You need to back off, now!" Delta let out a growl but listened to the order. "Okay, okay. Good. Charlie? Stay right there. Good," Owen continued while Brooke limited her interference knowing she couldn't stand in the way of the Alpha with his pack, it would taint the bond he had created; Brooke was also just a member of the pack and too much interference could be considered a challenge which could make Blue more aggressive. "Close the gate!" Owen and Brooke called back to Barry. "Are you two crazy!?" Barry asked them with wide eyes.

"Just trust us! Close the gate," Owen ordered and Barry let out an incredulous sigh before doing so. Owen and Brooke carefully backed up to the gate with the Raptors moving closer slowly. At the last possible second, both of them dropped down and slipped through the gate just as it slammed shut. The Raptors had started forward at their sudden action causing them to ram into the metal, dazing them. Barry helped Owen help who in turn assisted Brooke, she brushed down her clothes and turned back to see Echo watching her with a curious head tilt. "Good girl," Brooke pushed to the Raptor who chirped before wandering off.

"You're the new guy, right?" Owen asked Leon who was sitting on the ground breathing deeply with his back to the gate. "Yeah," Leon nodded as his eyes flickered between Owen and Brooke. "You ever wonder why there was a job opening?" Owen asked teasingly making the younger man tense up with wide eyes. "Hey. Don't ever turn your back to the cage," Brooke advised before she and Owen left the small space, the boy turned to look behind him finding Blue watching him through the bars. "What a damn morning," Brooke muttered with a chuckle. "Ms Malcolm!" A voice called out. "Yes?" Brooke questioned confused.

"Miss Dearing has requested a favour. I'm to take you to the innovation centre," He told her. "I guess I'll see you later then," Brooke told Owen who gave her a hug. "If you need me, call straight away," Owen instructed her. "Sure thing, Owen," Brooke promised before she fist bumped Barry, leaving with the employer. "So what is this apparent favour that Claire has requested?" Brooke asked the man as he drove towards the main area of the park. "She has offered to pay you to tour her nephews around the park for the day," The man told her causing Brooke to furrow her brows. "Oh, okay. I'll ask her more questions when I get there," Brooke told him before leaning back in the seat.

Meanwhile. . .

An American Airlines Boeing 757 touches down on the tarmac in Costa Rica. Gray and Zach go from the plane to the Costa Rican Dock where they are among hundreds of people boaring a ferry for Isla Nublar. "How big is the Island?" Gray asked his older brother who was barely paying attention. "Big," Zach replied absently. "But how many pounds?" Gray pondered as he tightly held a book in his hand. "That doesn't make sense," Zach remarks with furrowed brows. Once the top were settled on the Ferry, they rested by the railing looking out to the sea. Zach's attention was taken by some girls who were on the lower level of the ferry, he admired the girls as Gray looked out at the ocean in awe.

"When they first opened, they had eight species. Now they have fourteen Herbivores and six Carnivores. That's like fifty tons of food a week," Gray informed his older brother who wasn't paying any attention to his words due to his eyes on the girls. A few minutes later, Isla Nublar came into view as the Ferry sailed towards it. The boys soon disembark from the ship along with the other passengers and a park announcer's vouce is heard over a P.A system, "Welcome to Isla Nublar, home of Jurassic World. We hope you have a safe and enjoyable stay with us." The two boys stop just as the P.A repeats it in another language, their eyes land on Zara Young holding a sign with their names on it and neither of them recognize her.

"Where's Aunt Claire?" Gray asked his older brother sadly. Zach appears sullen and doesn't reply to Gray before the trudge over to meet Zara, it's not long till they are on the large monorail system which traverses the park quickly and efficiently. The two brothers were seated side by side in the lead car of the train along the monorail. Zach continues looking sullen and bored, crossing his arms. A gleeful Gray grins and elbows him but doesn't get a response. "You got the same book?" A boy asked Gray from the side catching both Zach and Gray's attention. "Uh, yeah!" Gray replied as he held the book tight in his hands, it was a sleek black cover with a Tyrannosaurus on the front, the words 'Dino Girl' across the front in bold font.

"I'm hoping to meet Brooklyn Malcolm during the trip," The boy told Gray as he held his own copy of her book. "You really think its possible?" Gray asked with wide hopeful eyes. "Anything is," The boy replied with a grin before both he and Gray were distracted by the announcer, "Okay, those of you in the front of the train should be able to see our main gate, built from the gate of the original park over twenty years ago." The two rushed excitedly to the front and watched as the train approached the main entrance of the park. The doors creak open allowing the train to pass through leaving Gray completely in awe while Zach sighed, he wouldn't say it but he hoped that Gray got the chance to meet one of his idols.
