Tuesday Morning

Note: Okay, so I've had this idea for a while but I wanted to post it on a Tuesday Morning because I'm crazy like that hahahahaha XD Enjoy guys! :)

*start song*

When my dad had left me at the hotel that day for work, I didn't think anything of it. In fact, I had had an argument with him just that morning and didn't even tell him goodbye. All he cared about was his stupid journalism - not me. Oh, I guess I should mention that my dad is Leo Greene. My parents split up years ago - his fault - and unfortunately my dad got joint custody so here I am. A clap of thunder broke me out of my reverie and I looked out of the window.

I remember stormy weather

The way the sky looks when it's cold

Rain was coming down in buckets, soaking the sidewalk outside. I sighed and burrowed down deeper into my purple Justin Bieber blanket. It was so cold in here now. After dad left, the virus outbreak had happened and I had gotten stuck in the Cordon. Then my heating had been cut off.

And you were with me

Content with walking

So unaware of the world

Suddenly, a knock sounded at my door and I hesitantly got up to answer it. Who could that be? I hadn't left the house in weeks now. Opening the door, it swung open to reveal a tall brunette police officer.

"Hi, you must be Michelle? Your father wanted me to come get you." he said simply, his voice deep and calming.

Please don't drive me home tonight

'Cause I don't wanna feel alone

I crossed my arms.

"Well, I'm not going with you. I don't know you and I don't care to so-" I said, trying to force the door closed.

He stuck a combat boot in the doorframe, wedging it back open. I huffed as he stepped into the house.

"Look, you don't need to be here alone. It's not safe anymore." he said, growing irritated with my behavior.

I just shook my head at him and he frowned.

Please don't drive me home tonight

'Cause I don't wanna go

"Look, your father asked me to bring you back to your house so that's what I'm going to do," he said, grabbing my arm roughly.

I yanked my arm out of his grasp.

"No, you're not! 'Cause I don't want to go with you." I said defiantly.

He clenched his jaw for a moment before dropping a duffel bag that I didn't know he'd been holding down on the floor.

Tuesday morning

In the dark

So that's how I met Officer Jake Riley. He stayed with me all through the night, playing board games and talking. He told me about himself - his childhood, how he entered law enforcement. And I told him about my own life.

It was still dark throughout the room but the waning sunlight coming through the window lit up his features as he bent down to move a monopoly piece across the board.

I was finding out

Who you are

"So you don't like pickles? What's wrong with you?" I joked and he grinned at me in response.

"Hey, normal people don't like pickles, okay? They taste weird!" he laughed.

I laughed as well and watched him, the way his eyes would crinkle around the edges when he smiled, the way his laugh sounded. He caught me staring at him and he smirked. I looked down quickly, my cheeks burning scarlet. Suddenly, he coughed and my eyes met his.

"Your move," he smiled, gesturing to the board.

I took your picture

While you were sleeping

A picture popped out of my old Polaroid camera and I fanned it until an image started to form. Smiling, I looked up from the image at the sleeping Jake I had just photographed. His brown hair was in disarray and his black Henley t-shirt disheveled as he lay asleep on my couch.

And then I paced around the room

Sighing, I walked back and forth around the small living room. Clasping my hands together, I pressed them to my lips and closed my eyes briefly.

If I had known then

That these things happen

I stopped at the window and turned around to look at him once more. How did this even happen? How did I start to develop feelings for a guy I hardly knew?

Would they have happened with you?

And a guy who was sent here at that? I sighed again and finally Jake stirred, groggily waking up. He looked at me pointedly and I knew what was coming next.

Please don't drive me home tonight

'Cause I don't wanna feel alone

"Please don't drive me home tonight," I pleaded, dread growing in my stomach, "Cause I don't wanna feel alone."

Please don't drive me home tonight

'Cause I don't wanna go

He bit his lip, giving me butterflies. Slowly, he got up from the couch and walked over to me.

"And you don't wanna go?" he asked knowingly.

I nodded silently and he stopped in front of me.

Tuesday morning

In the dark

Before I knew what was happening, he took my hand in his. His fingers caressed the back of my hand. Sure, they were calloused and rough but it gave me a serene and calm feeling nonetheless. His light blue eyes looked deep into mine, seeing right through me.

I was finding out

Who I was

"You don't have to worry about that. I'll come with you to keep you safe." he said gently and my breath hitched in my throat at the offer.

Nodding to him, I started to walk away to get packed. I raced up the stairs and hurriedly emptied my things into a suitcase. Smiling to myself, I went back down the stairs, suitcase in tow.

And if you turned around to see me and I was gone

But when I reached the last step, Jake was gone. I looked everywhere, calling his name. But he was nowhere to be found. My heart sank.

You should have looked outside your window

Then a thought hit me. Walking over to the window, I looked outside.

'Cause the sun was coming up

Noticing the sun rising in the sky, I looked towards my front step. Jake stood outside, his police vest and helmet on once more. With a hand, he beckoned me outside. I grinned at him and raced out of the room, nearly forgetting my suitcase in all the excitement.

The sun was coming up

I wasn't going to be alone any longer! Smiling, Jake took my suitcase from me and led me towards the house that my dad and I owned. Maybe life in an apocalypse wasn't so bad after all. As long as I didn't have to be on my own through it all.

Please don't drive me home tonight

'Cause I don't wanna feel alone

Walking along beside Jake, I felt safe - like nothing could touch me and nothing could affect me. I don't know if it was because he was a cop or just because it was Jake.

Tuesday morning

In the dark

As the sun rose higher in the Tuesday morning sky, my heart felt lighter. Finally, a small bricked house came into view and I grinned. Jake took notice and smiled as well. Leading him up the front steps, I stuck my key in and opened the door.

We were finding out

Who we are

"You wanna come in for a minute?" I asked shyly as he handed me my suitcase.

He scratched the back of his neck and shook his head.

"I'd love to but I kind of need to get back to the hospital." he shrugged.

Tuesday morning

In the dark

I sat my suitcase in the doorway and turned back to Jake. He flipped the visor on his helmet up and looked at me for a moment, an almost conflicted look on his face.

We were finding out

Who we are

Ever so slowly he leaned down closer to me and knots formed in my stomach. Inching up on the tip of my toes, my lips connected with his.

Who we are

I wrapped my hands around his neck gently and he pulled me even closer. His lips were so soft and glided over mine. The feel of his hands on my waist sent shocks of electricity through my body.

Who we are

I felt him smile into the kiss before he broke away from me. He grinned down at me before flipping the visor back down on his helmet.

Who we are

"Now don't tell Lex about this," he said, grinning.

I furrowed my eyebrows at him in confusion. He smiled in response before starting to walk off.

"That was way more than four to six feet." he joked and I just rolled my eyes at him.

Who we are

I watched his tall silhouette walk off into the distance as I leaned against the doorway of my house. Bringing my hand up to my lips, I sighed to myself.
