𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐒𝐨𝐜𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐬 𝐝𝐞𝐟𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐝 𝐃𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐚𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐪𝐮𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐛𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐧𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐨 𝐆𝐨𝐝. In the world we live in, people strive to follow the idea of Divinity, almost hoping that by following some sort of God or Saint, they'll be saved. They'll be spared of the hardships of life, knowing that they have a God to rely on when things start trembling down before their eyes. People like this, they call themselves Holy. They call themselves followers of God.

In the world of Divinity, there's also Impiety. Impiety being the opposite of Divinity, meaning that a person doesn't believe in the idea of God saving them. They believe God is responsible for every challenge they face--that he wants them to feel the pain they endure. Whether it's a small pain like a breakup, or a larger pain like watching your family die in front of your very eyes. They believe God punished them.

Matt Murdock believed in Divinity, and to a point Holly Nelson did to. They believed that God saved them in times that they were almost holding hands with the idea of death, being pulled down into the abys of endless nothings. God was there, pulling them out by their other hand, telling them that everything was okay, and giving them the peace of mind they needed to continue. Maybe in their minds they believed that having a God to rely on was some sort of safety blanket--or maybe they just really believed that God loved them. 

For other people like Frank Castle, his life lead him to the idea of Impiety. Growing up a Catholic he was indulged in the idea of believing God wasn't responsible for the things that made him cry. For the things that made him weak and sorrowful. He was forced into believing that the Devil made everything in his life a living hell. The Devil was the reason his family was shot to shreds in front of him, the devil was the reason he lost everything he loved in the span of seconds, the devil was the cause of his hell. 

Yet, Frank didn't believe that. Frank believed God was controlling Frank's hell. Frank was lost, Frank was tired, and he no longer lived in a world in which he had remorse for anyone around him.

But soon or later, the road of hell is paved with good intentions, leading those in faith to Impiety.
