Dolly, Barbie. Since the time she did a live in which she claimed to be the Barbie of the industry, fans and even media started going on and on about how much she indeed had doll-like visuals. Nancy Kim was born with a pretty silver spoon in her mouth. It's a fact, and she never tried to hide it or to prove the opposite for that matter. Being the only daughter of the influential CEO of Voxis –a tech company specialized in language processing– Damian Kim, and renowned South Korean model and singer Kim Na-ri had many advantages. And even more if in addition to being their only daughter, you were the first and last child they could ever have due to some medical conditions. Having obtained her first gold jewelry when she was just born, being able to celebrate her sixth birthday party in an amusement park specially reserved for her, or having the latest fashionable Barbie doll before all her friends, were part of those privileges and they just kept increasing as she grew older. In other words, Nancy lacked nothing and has always been considered a beautiful young girl with a promising and successful future. But she knew that already, and the field in which she would like to pursue a career included. In other words, music.

As mentioned earlier Nancy's mother, Kim Na-ri is an influential and renowned figure in the world of music. So it was obvious that this passion for music would, at some point, end up flowing into her daughter's veins as well. Nancy actually started showing a significant interest in the spotlight and music when she was five years old, and her parents couldn't resist enrolling her in the best singing lessons possible, so that she could strengthen her passion as soon as possible. At five years old, Nancy flourished in this field, and took great pleasure participating in recitals or showcases. After all, it was just for fun. However, things took a different turn when she reached the age of twelve years old.

Nancy, who until now had received congratulations and prizes, had tasted disappointment for the first time during a contest organized by her music school. A contest in which she came in second place. The taste was bitter, and the disappointment in her mother's eyes broke her heart. Which is why following this, Nancy, in addition to being pressured by her mother, started developing a kind of fear of losing and disappointment. Thus often leading her to be competitive and ruthless when something was at stake, and this only got worse when she joined SM Entertainment back in 2018.

At only fourteen years old, Nancy was seen as a trainee with potential and a lot of talent for her age, certainly, but she remained no less intimidating and even detestable for some. It wasn't a matter of personal achievement or self satisfaction anymore, but a matter of survival. The atmosphere Nancy has built around her during her trainee days, trainee years whenever she entered a room was suffocating and worrisome. It was as if sympathy had no rights to be expressed, shown, or else she could say bye to her hopes of debuting. She had this habit of withdrawing herself to stay focused on her goal, her treasured title: to be number 1 and debut. She could sometimes be merciless, even mean at times. But the fear of disappointing her parents, her mother specifically, crushed her a little more every day and did her more harm than she'd like to admit.

The rivalries Nancy had created with her peers, what is more her members, live on in memories, because she could be so ruthless and harsh at times. But Nancy never took pleasure in these moments. She just had no other choices. The concept of eat or be eaten terrified her. She didn't want to be eaten, so she was the one eating, consuming others through these rivalries. The final price was way too precious for her to stand there, and do nothing.

When Nancy was finally told that she was going to debut, the weight, the pressure she accumulated over the years all slowly faded away to make room for relief and profound happiness. Actually, the first thing she did was to call her mother and tell her: "Mommy.. I did it, I'm going to debut..." As she whispered those words to her dear mother, tears of joy and tiredness fell from her eyes. However, Nancy knew that this was just the first step, and that the road to success would be long and thorny, especially with her members. But she also knew (surprisingly) that the only way to go up and achieve even more success, was to stick together.

Despite his cold and impeccable appearances, as required by his profession, Damian Kim is really just a caring man ready to do anything, if it means protecting his family. It goes without saying that Nancy is still to this day the best gift life could have given to him, and he has always been grateful to be her dad. Thus, explaining why he loves covering her with gifts, and why he spoiled her back in her childhood (he still does btw). Unlike his wife, he never pushed Nancy to be "more this... or that", since all he cared and will always care about is her well-being.

Kim Na-ri will always be Nancy's inspiration. After all, she's her daughter. Na-ri wasn't a strict mother, and, like her husband, cherished their daughter more than everything. She considered her like her jewel, her youngest reflection and really wanted the best for Nancy. However, even if Na-ri was an important pillar in Nancy's life back in DC (it's mainly thanks to her if Nancy developed interest in music), she nonetheless remained a source of pressure for her daughter, though the latter would never admit it. Quite the opposite, she thinks that if she arrived where she is today it's thanks to her mother, and that she should always be grateful to her.

WONYOUNG (IVE) ━ Best friend • Wonyoung and Nancy are two of the most breathtaking visuals of the industry, so it didn't really come as a surprise when pics of them hugging and shopping together got leaked on Twitter. However, their bond is not solely based on the fact that they're both pretty and have good taste in fashion. They just have this natural chemistry going on since that one day they accidentally ran into each other after one of B-side's stage performances (during their debut era) and they started talking about everything and anything, complimenting each other. You can catch them gossiping together or going on friendly dates at cafes.

SOHEE (RIIZE) ━ Close friend • To be honest, Nancy is still processing how she managed to befriend him. Wait. What Am I even saying? She is still trying to process how he managed to befriend her. Just kidding, she actually loves him very much. They met back in their trainee days and the flow went surprisingly well between those two. They were often caught talking and laughing together. She loves his fashion style.

JINI (SOLOIST) ━ Close friend • Nancy and Jini got in touch for the first time via Instagram, when Nancy shared Jini's comeback "C'mon" on her story, because she just loved this song so much when she heard it for the first time. Following this, Jini reached out to her, and they eventually started chatting regularly and hanging out together.

(Over)competitive • With Nancy, we've reached a point where even competitiveness itself is afraid of her. As if her life solely depends on being the best at everything she does, this young lady can't go a day without thinking about achievements, and how she just has to do better in general. It's almost sickening, and this obsession she has with success and perfection affects not only those around her, but her as well. This thirst for success sometimes pushes her to withdraw into herself or to be ruthless with others, even for the smallest thing. However, it doesn't mean that she'd like things to stay that way, as she tries to moderate this whole situation. Though the satisfaction she feels whenever she wins and succeeds, will always have this exquisite taste to her. She can't really help it, she's a mommy's girl.

Spoiled • Nancy is simply the definition of nepotism at its finest, knowing how rich and influential her parents are and literally considering her the luckiest girl on earth (she's extra). For this, a lot of people see her as a spoiled girl or even brat, which in some ways is not completely wrong if we consider this one time when she did a live, just so that she can ramble about the expensive gifts her parents sent her for the third time, during the same week.

Confident and a tiny bit egotistical • Nancy's overconfidence can be hard to deal with sometimes, but fear not you'll end up getting used to it (normally). Girly knows that she's talented AND pretty, so of course she's going to brag about it day and night until you get tired of her. Actually she doesn't care at all, and considers herself well placed to display her self-esteem. This confidence of her can either be seen as admirable or draining.

Sometimes clueless • Let me reassure you, Nancy is not dumb, nor ignorant for that matter. However, some days are just not her days and she just sometimes isn't the sharpest tool in the shed and will just ask or say the stupidest or most obvious things on earth. One day she casually asked one of her members "So if the universe is endless, where does it end?" It was a bit stupid but still so iconic and funny. Today if her members want to humble her down, they just bring this humiliating moment on the table.

In reality generous • Anyone who doesn't know Nancy realistically, will straight-up say that she's mean and cruel. I mean– she can be harsh with her words sometimes, and yes she used to have this habit of looking down on other people back in her trainee days, but you'd be surprised of how much of a kind person she really can be. You have to be close to her in order to discover that, of course. On top of that, Nancy has a sense of justice which always leaves the other members speechless. It'll be hard for her to remain silent in a situation where someone's being laughed at or bullied for exemple. Last time this happened she roasted the instigator so much he started to cry. Yes, I did say that Nancy is somewhat fair, but I never said that her ways of proceeding were as well.

Free-spirited • Although Nancy was raised in such a way that she got into her head that she must and should be The Best, it didn't prevent her from appreciating freedom and the concept of free-will while growing up. She's far from being the typical rule breaker, but she has to admit that rebelling is fun. What is sure is that if she has an idea in mind, she'll do everything she can to concretize it. Living at the fullest and enjoying the moment is what she always looks for in situations, which is why she doesn't care about opinions and such most of the time.

Genuine and transparent • Honesty is something that Nancy values a lot, as she hates lies. She'll just always speak the truth, meaning that yes, she may talk about her strengths and privileges often (a lot actually) but she also shares her weaknesses and is not afraid to do so. Surprisingly, Nancy always tries to balance the truth with kindness even if it comes out as clumsy, when truth needs to be spoken.

Surprisingly vulnerable • Beneath the facade of talent, pretty privileges, luxuriance and confidence, Nancy like many people, has moments of deep vulnerability. Whether it's the fear of disappointing her parents, the fear of not being good enough or her own insecurities (her appearance, approval from peers), this vulnerability of hers can be a burden at times, but also shows that even THE Nancy Kim isn't immunized against the scourges that affect ordinary mortals.

(Over)confident • Nancy's confidence can either be considered as annoying or admirable and somewhat inspiring, depending on the circumstances. She may be exaggerating most of the time, but it must be said that this assurance of hers can be a great source of motivation for others, especially in situations of stress, doubts or resignation. Her overwhelming confidence will instantly make you want to humble her by beating her in what she does the best for example, or just to shut her mouth. Which will give you a sudden boost of energy, because of how tiring she can be.

Charismatic and persuasive • Despite her complex and rather "challenging to handle and appreciate" type of personality, Nancy has this natural and almost inexplicable appeal that automatically leads people to be somewhat captivated by her. She can't help it, and to be fair will never complain about it. Nancy has this natural charm which surprisingly makes her quite a good negotiator. With this, it's easy for her to somewhat influence a situation to her own advantage. She also has no issues in influencing other people's thoughts when she wants to.

Nancy Kim or the Queen of burnouts • Even if Nancy's competitiveness might be quite admirable in some ways (but nonetheless intimidating and scary), it still comes with a price to pay. This one being physical and mental exhaustion. Actually, there's nothing bad about wanting to do your best in something, or just wanting to be at the top and therefore working for it, but in Nancy's case it can quickly become unhealthy. She's a really hard working person, in addition to being extremely strict with herself at times, but her desire to be the best, to overcome others often lead her to intentionally ignore her limits.

She's just a tiny bit too defensive • As surprising as it may sound, Nancy is perfectly aware of her own flaws and how hard it can be to handle sometimes. However, she doesn't like it when people just bring it to her face, and will instantly feel kind of offended. Not because she is genuinely upset or hurt, but because hearing it from someone else will just make things even worse for her. Sometimes she just feels like she's being unfairly judged or even misunderstood by her peers, since she constantly tries her best to improve as an individual.

"I need sugar. Where's my sugar bowl." • Back in her trainee days, since Nancy literally used to deprive herself from consuming anything too sweet or just too much sugar in general (such as cakes, chocolate and other treats) to stay fit, she developed this habit of eating a sugar cube at the end of the week, a bit as reward. From now on, sugar cubes serve as stress relievers for her, and she'll legit fight whoever will dare hide her sugar bowl from her  (she hides it in her cupboard).

Constantly spraying perfume on her • You know when people can be recognized just by the perfume they use on a daily basis? Well it's the same with Nancy. Many people associate her with the smell of vanilla, because it's literally the only fragrance she uses because of how good and sweet its scent is. She likes when people tell her that she smells good, and the idea of people recognizing her presence just by her scent.

"Dear diary" • Nancy doesn't care what people think about her having a diary despite her age, and how cringe it is to some people. She has this habit of running to her diary whenever she considers things to go wrong in her life. She mostly does this when she needs to write down how she feels before expressing them orally (or else it'll be a mess).

"Get in loser, we're going shopping!" • Nancy wouldn't be Nancy without her long ass shopping trips, and fashion stores wouldn't make money without Nancy. Shopping is certainly her favorite thing to do, as well as one of her comfort activities (along with watching Mean Girls of course) and will feel bad if she didn't go shopping at least once every week.

Scrapbooking • Childish or not, Nancy loves the freedom she has when designing notebooks to preserve memories or random things she finds good enough to keep safely somewhere. It's also the concept of visually pleasing which interests her. So she just goes crazy with the aesthetics, using glitter, fancy and cute stickers. She'd like to make a scrapbook with the most iconic and beautiful memories of the group, and offer it to her members.

⤷ Mall fountains • It's a bit unusual but Nancy believes that tossing coins in mall fountains will bring her good fortune, so she does that every single time she comes across a fountain in a mall. Plus, she thinks mall fountains are elegant and have charisma (she's weird tbh).

⤷ Naming her belongings/furnitures • Okay, maybe this is more of a tiny problem than anything else, but Nancy loves attributing names to what belongs to her. She pretends that it's just to help her notice if something's missing or was borrowed without her permission, but in reality she just loves doing that. (ie. her hello kitty bag's named Miss Kitty).

⤷ Memorizing license plates • She sucks at math, so doing this is a way for her to prove that being able to memorize every single car in the parking lot is just more impressive, than knowing how to do actual math.

꩜ .ᐟ ┆ 𝐃𝐈𝐒𝐋𝐈𝐊𝐄𝐒. dirtiness, rotten smells, tomatoes (she just hates the fact that it's a fruit), people with bad handwriting (it's too much effort for her), gastropods (snails, slugs etc.), seeing someone throwing up, energy drinks, the word "panties" (she prefers "lingerie" or "underwear" instead), going unnoticed.

⤷ Plain water • Whenever Nancy's being asked "why don't you like plain water?", she always answers with the following statement: "I don't know, there's just something boring about plain water. And it's tasteless." Most of the time she adds slices of fruits such as strawberries, oranges or lemons in it. She also uses natural sweeteners like honey, when she doesn't want to use fruits.

⤷ The word "mischievous"  • For some reason Nancy can't pronounce this word correctly, and is just pissed because of this. She pronounces it as "mis-chee-vee-us", and knows that it's not how you're supposed to pronounce it, but she still claims it's the real way of pronouncing it.

⤷ People who chew gum but don't blow bubbles • Nancy just finds it useless, like what's the point? According to her it's like taking a glass of water but not drinking it, or like entering a store and not buying anything.

⤷ She can play the flute.

⤷ Nancy vegetables only when they're steamed.

⤷ Some of Nancy's favorite artists include: Britney Spears, Gwen Stefani, Rihanna,

Brandy and Kehlani. She gets most of her inspiration from them.

⤷ Growing up, Nancy never had pets due to her mom being allergic to dogs and not wanting any animal in the house. Because of this, Nancy has difficulties projecting herself with a pet, though she'd like to have both a standard poodle and a poodle toy.

⤷ Nancy literally sucks at cooking, but she's a really good baker and calls herself a "dessert enthusiast" as she loves preparing them. She's often the one in charge of desserts.

⤷ One of the main reasons Nancy was competitive and ruthless back in her trainee days, besides wanting to make her mother proud (and to be the first), is because she didn't want people to see her as weak because of her nose bleeding issues.

⤷ Nancy is kind of a picky eater, but doesn't want to admit it.

⤷ She once said that in a horror movie, she would either be the first to die or the last. There's no  in-between.

⤷ Back in her trainee days, she used to have a crush on Red Velvet's Seulgi.

⤷ Her favorite music genres are R&B, Soul, Pop and Pop Rock. She recently started to listen to some Indie pop artists such as Beabadoobee, The Marías and Clairo.
