I was Oikawa in this series
▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰
It was a late Saturday night and Oikawa was at the bar, drinking his liver out because his girlfriend of two years called him out of no where and told him that she wanted to break up with him, before he could even ask why, she hung up the phone which made Oikawa walk to the bar that was halfway down the road from his house.
Oikawa already had his fifth drink that night but that didn't stop him from crying his eyes out, but at this point Oikawa couldn't feel his face so he just decided to call quits, he paid for all his drinks before he walked out of the bar.
His vision was blurry as his eyes and nose instantly turned cold when he walked outside, the cold wind sending shivers down his spine. He sighed softly as his breathe turned into a cloud of smoke and started walking down the sidewalk, that was until he passed friend Iwaizumi's house, he stared at his house for a while before he walked up to the door and started knocking loudly and continuously till someone answered the door.
iwaizumi was, like a normal human at this hour, asleep. he'd finished all his college assignments a few hours ago, even though it was friday. he wanted his entire weekend to be free so that he had time to relax a bit, worry-free. iwaizumi was enjoying a peaceful night of slumber until it was abruptly interrupted by banging on the door. he tried to ignore it, will it to go away, but whoever was at the door kept knocking continuously until iwaizumi growled in annoyance and sat up, getting off the bed.
he was going to give the person a piece of his mind. who the hell pounds at someones door at near midnight? and for what reason? he could feel his jaw clenching as he approached the door, and then he unlocked it, throwing it open.
"what the HELL do you think you're---oikawa?" iwaizumi deadpanned, watching his friend's wasted state. he was confused; what was oikawa even doing here? and why was he crying? was he--
"oi, shittykawa, are you drunk? what the hell?"
After a while, Oikawa was about to give up on trying to get in the house till the door flung open which also scared him a little, he looked up at his friend with half lidded eyes as he wrapped his arms around himself.
"Maybe I am maybe i'm not." Oikawa slurred as his eyes never left Iwaizumi's. "Kyo called me this morning and broke up with me, I tried to ask her why but she hung up, so i've been like this since late this morning." Oikawa barely explained because half of what he was saying was lost in slurs.
Oikawa then looked away at Iwaizumi and turned his gaze to the ground, his bangs hiding his brown eyes as tears started streaming down his face.
iwaizumi eyed him, a furrow in his eyebrows. he probably should've been more sympathetic to his friend, his best friend, but he was tired, and frankly, the news of oikawa's girlfriend breaking up with him didn't make him sad.
how could it? when he's been harboring feelings for the other for so long. all throughout high school, and now as adults, iwaizumi kept his feelings to himself.
he didn't know what to say exactly. iwaizumi didn't know why oikawa came to him; maybe he just needed comfort from a close friend.
he was about to say something when oikawa suddenly started crying again, tears cascading down his face. iwaizumi bit the inside of his cheek, and then sighed.
he grabbed oikawa by the shoulder and pulled him inside, closing the door. "hey, it's alright... stop crying, are you really gonna mope around and be all depressed about some girl?"
Oikawa was then pulled inside the warm house which made his skin start to burn from the immediate temperature change, he lifted up his head and looked Iwaizumi in the eyes. "You don't understand iwa-chan, she's been with me for almost three years and all of a sudden she breaks up with me without any explanation!" Oikawa explained as more tears ran down his face.
"I don't get it, I don't get what I did wrong." Oikawa whimpered softly, his hands grabbing at his hair.
"I don't know what to do, I can't go a minute without thinking about her and wanting to cry, I know it doesn't sound 'manly' but who can really blame me if i'm like this." Oikawa huffed, letting go of his hair to rub his red swollen eyes.
iwaizumi wasn't the best person to comfort people. he came off a bit too rough, and his advice always seemed to be way too blunt, and made the person he was comforting feel even shittier.
"then she's clearly a bitch and not worth your time if she breaks up with you like that, after three years." he told him, grabbing some tissues from a box in the hallway and handing a few to oikawa. "come on, stop thinking about it. you can spend the night here, we can watch movies or something. stop crying or i'll kick you, dumbass." he not-so-gently nudged him towards the living room, making him sit on the couch. iwaizumi left only to return with a glass of water, which he handed to oikawa.
Oikawa sighed softly before he took the tissues from Iwaizumi and blew his nose with a few and wiped his eyes with the last one. His body stiffened when he heard the threat from Iwaizumi which Oikawa shrugged it off with a sigh before slipping off his shoes.
He soon ended up in Iwaizumi's living room where he plopped down on the couch, watching Iwaizumi leave and come back with a glass of water in his hands that he took from him and drank all of the water, handing Iwaizumi the empty cup without meeting his gaze.
iwaizumi took the cup and placed it on the table, and then sat next to oikawa. it was silent for a few moments, before he sighed, slightly troubled. "y'know... i'm here for you, even if i give shitty advice." he told him, glancing over at the other. "i told you to stop crying but you can cry more if you need to. if it makes you feel better."
he felt a blush rise on his stone-cold face, so iwaizumi looked away, reaching over for the remote and turning the tv on. he left it at some random comedy channel, just for something to fill the silence between them.
Oikawa kept his gaze to the ground for a while, after hearing what Iwaizumi said, his eyebrows furrowed and his hands covered his face, his body started to tremble and his face started getting red.
He didn't want to cry anymore, he couldn't cry anymore, he needed to move on from this but he couldn't, and if he were to it would take a long time for him to get over it.
Oikawa clenched his jaw and silently started crying in his hands, his trembling body, his cold hands, it was all numb to him and he hated it, he hated feeling like this but this was a part of life that happens for a reason.
iwaizumi was watching the tv until he felt oikawa trembling beside him, silent whimpers going through his body. he glanced over to see him crying in his hands. iwaizumi's eyes widened in panic, and he reached over to turn the tv volume down.
"oi--it's gonna be okay," he murmured, grabbing oikawa's shoulder and pulling the other into his chest. he hated his girlfriend for making him feel like this. if it were up to him, iwaizumi would call her right now and curse her entire family out, but he didn't. it would probably make everyone feel worse.
but how could he not be angry when the only person he's loved his entire life was so fucking sad right now, sobbing in his chest? he continued comforting oikawa, patting his back and rubbing it from time to time. "it sucks but, you deserved better, oikawa. right from the start."
Oikawa immediately lost it when he felt Iwaizumi pull him into his chest, he clenched Iwaizumi's shirt and started sobbing into his chest, his throat started to burn and his head started to throb as well.
After a while, Oikawa's sobs dialed down till he was quiet, his shoulders stopped trembling and he just went quiet. He stared into oblivious for a while, letting his mind wonder to try and get his mind off of things but no matter how hard he tried, his mind always wondered to her.
"I can't do it." Oikawa whispered, his hands gripped harder around Iwaizumi's shirt while his jaw clenched as a way to stop more tears from coming out. "I want to forget but I can't." Oikawa added with a small whimper.
iwaizumi was well acquainted with the feeling in his chest. it appear ever since oikawa started spending less time with him when he got with his girlfriend. it appeared when all oikawa did was talk about her, cancel outings with iwaizumi for her, and put her in first place.
he couldn't be mad about it, but iwaizumi was really, really jealous. so, hearing that oikawa could barely even think about anything else, saying he couldn't forget, made jealousy bubble up in his chest, and he tried to push it away because oikawa needed his support right now.
he rubbed the other's back, pulling him close. "you will, okay? you only just got broken up with. things will get better, oikawa. i promise."
Soon, Oikawa's body relaxed and he was able to focus again, he took a deep breathe and let it out and stuffed his face into Iwaizumi's chest, taking in the males scent.
Let the truth be told, Oikawa always had feelings for Iwaizumi but he never thought Iwaizumi would even be bisexual so he always pushed that feeling to the back of his mind. That's why he got a girlfriend, to distract himself from Iwaizumi, but unfortunately it didn't last long.
He then slowly pulled away from Iwaizumi and rubbed his eyes with his forearm. "Okay, I think i'm a little better." Oikawa said with a stuffy nose and a raspy voice. He wiped the rest of his tears with the collar of his shirt and ran his fingers through his hair, leaning his head back to try and clear up his nose.
"good. now we should go to sleep, cause you woke me up at midnight, shittykawa," he scolded, getting up when oikawa pulled away from him.
"do you want the couch or should i take it? i don't mind." he told him, watching as oikawa tried to clear up his face a little. it was a little painful, seeing him so hurt over someone like this. iwaizumi really had to move on; this crush of his could ruin their friendship.
Oikawa groaned slightly before he crossed his arms. "It's fine i'll take the couch." Oikawa answered before he took off his coat that he still had on, he put it on the coffee table nice and folded before he sat back down on the couch and grabbed a blanket that was hanging on the arm rest of the couch, he fluffed out the blanket and pulled it on top of him before he laid down on his side and instantly falling asleep.
His headache was gone and his tears stopped completely, he really needed Iwaizumi and thank god he was there for him because if he hadn't stopped by Iwaizumi's house, he would of done something unforgivable.
iwaizumi watched oikawa settle into the couch. he turned the tv off, glancing at the other laying there, already asleep, with a pained look on his face. he eventually walked away, turning the lights off and heading up to his room.
iwaizumi wished that his feelings weren't so prominent. he couldn't look at oikawa without wondering what it would be like for them to be together, what it felt like to kiss his lips and hold his hand. he supposed that those things would only just be left as a mere fantasy.
as soon as he got to his bed, he fell flat on it, closing his eyes and falling asleep within minutes.
