Changbin was the first to react. Before the blood could do any real damage to him or to Felix, he yanked the younger boy towards the back door, quickly turning around to use his powers quickly in order to help the others. As much as he disliked them sometimes, he knew that they were his family in a sense. They were the only real family he'd ever known, and he wanted to protect them. But after a second glance, he realized that Hyunjin had everything pretty much under control. He'd used his power of atmokinesis to change the atmosphere around the sea of blood that was lapping at all of their feet. Without hesitation, he plunged his hand into it, turning the blood to ice as the atmosphere became colder and colder.
"Get out of here!" He choked out.
Hyunjin's voice was strained, but he had enough power in him to keep all the blood frozen while they raced out the door in order to keep away from being cornered by the red fluid. Without looking back, Changbin raced for the back door of the hideout, pulling Felix along with him. The rest of the members all fled into the front yard to jump headfirst into the battle. Minho, with his superhuman speed, was the first one out the door, and he was more than ready to fight to the death. If hatred was visible, the air would have been scarlet; much like the blood that Crimson Vector was using to attack the Supernova members. Minho jumped right into battle, bringing his fist to the face of his opponent. It was a man older than himself, and when Minho had the displeasure of looking into the man's eyes, all he saw was a sociopath.
The bad thing about having Supernova as opponents was that everyone in the group had a different power, so the members of Crimson Vector never knew what to expect. That gave Supernova a bit of leverage, and considering that they were massively outnumbered, they clearly needed it. Felix and Changbin were out in the backyard where only five Crimson Vector members stood. The rest were all out front, battling the others for Osiris's sake as the leader, like a coward, stood back to watch the mayhem that was unfolding before him. He scanned the crowd of people, searching for someone in particular. His eyes darted from person to person, but he couldn't seem to find the one boy he was looking for.
"You take the two on the left, and I'll deal with the ones on the right," Changbin ordered.
Felix nodded, quickly moving his hands in a motion that now felt completely natural after doing it for days on end. His powers sparked largely, and he tamed it back a bit, worried that he might become weak if he were to use that much. He took in a breath, glancing at Changbin who was focused on bringing shards of glass from the shattered hideout windows into the air to slice at the skin of the Crimson Vector members. He figured that if he could cause them to lose enough blood, they'd retreat eventually. However, the cuts seemed to only make their opponents stronger.
This isn't working, Changbin realized, gritting his teeth in frustration. The more I cut them, the stronger they get.
Felix pushed his hands outward and a stream of fire shot from the space in between. The fire scorched the two Crimson Vector members in front of him, and as they crumpled to the ground in agony, they clicked a button that was connected to the collars that they were wearing. The two of them disappeared into thin air, and Felix began to look around for them frantically, fearing that they'd spawn behind him, or behind Changbin.
"They retreated," Changbin spoke up, soothing the Australian's nerves a bit.
Right then, Felix realized that the older boy was struggling to take down the three men in front of him. Noting that, the brunette fired up his powers again, pushing his hands outward quickly. The stream of flames shocked Changbin, but he was grateful. He didn't know what he would have done if Felix wasn't there, because clearly, his telekinesis was no match for the powers of a Human Vessel. Any cut that he made on their body just made them more powerful because more blood seeped from the wounds and it could be used against Changbin in the worst way. The raven haired boy refused to kill. Never again would he watch someone's eyes glaze over at his hands. He would sooner die himself before he would take the life of another human being. Or, in the case of the members of Crimson Vector, something a little less than human altogether. Having been burned down their torsos (nowhere near badly enough to kill them, though) the other three Human Vessels retreated, and Felix felt a small sense of accomplishment.
"Let's get out front. They're outnumbered," Changbin said quickly, turning away from the Australian.
"I think I have a better idea," the younger boy stated, running to the raven haired boy's side in order to grab onto his wrist.
"What's the plan then?" Changbin questioned rapidly, knowing that they didn't have long before the others became nothing more than corpses.
"Just trust me...Please," Felix replied urgently, pulling on the older boy's sleeve.
The Australian's eyes said more than his mouth did, and Changbin nodded without further questions. He did trust Felix, and he would always trust Felix.
Because his powers weren't really useful in fights, Seungmin was forced to deal with hand to hand combat. His stamina was pretty good because of his hours of training, but the amount of Human Vessels that surrounded the members of Supernova was overwhelming, and Seungmin began to feel like it was a lost cause. But, the redhead refused to give in, and he swung a hard right hook at a the younger woman attempting to wrap a string of blood around his neck in order to cut off his air supply.
"Where are Felix and Changbin?" Jeongin gasped, elbowing another Human Vessel square in the jaw.
"I don't know, but they'd better hurry up and help us," Seungmin growled, bringing his knee up to connect with the groin of the same Human Vessel that Jeongin had just elbowed in the face.
But in the back of his mind, Seungmin had many doubts about whether Changbin would be helping Supernova at all, and he began to wonder if Felix was really safe with the raven haired boy. It was horrible to feel that way about his own teammate, but he couldn't help it. Knowing what he knew, he just couldn't get those types of thoughts out of his mind. And neither could Minho. Though, it wasn't like either of them really had the time to dwell on Changbin or Felix. They were surrounded by enemies, so if their heads weren't in the right place, they'd be goners, and they were painfully aware of that fact. Out of the corner of his eyes, Seungmin watched Jeongin wave his hand in front of the face of a Crimson Vector member. The young boys eyes began to glow with a purple light as he accessed the part of his brain that allowed him to force his will upon others and control their minds. The Human Vessel in front of him paused immediately. Jeongin waved his hand again, and with that simple motion, the enemy turned away from him.
"What are you doing?" Seungmin questioned, rubbing the place on his neck where he'd just been relentlessly bitten.
Thankfully, skin wasn't broken.
"I'm going to use their own powers against them," Jeongin answered.
As he said that, the young boy moved his hands once more, and the girl in front of him began to use her blood powers at Jeongin's command. He didn't really know how to use the power properly, but he did it anyway because he knew how powerful the Human Vessels really were. He sent a string of blood slicing through the crowd of Crimson Vector members that didn't seem to be dwindling at all.
"There's more coming," Minho stated, ducking under the swing of a Human Vessel.
"Still?" Hyunjin questioned, freezing another Human Vessel that got too close to him.
He bent down, clicking the button on the Crimson Vector member's neck that would send her back to wherever the hell it was that she came from. After freezing a good twenty five of them, Hyunjin was beginning to feel weaker, and he knew that it wouldn't be long before he crashed. But, he wasn't about to leave Minho to battle on his own, so he blinked twice and took in a deep breath to keep himself awake. Red and Woojin fought back to back, but as quick as they were dropping them, the quicker they began to appear again. It was like there was a never ending supply of people ready to lose their already shortened lives for Osiris. Chan and Jisung weren't doing much better, but they certainly weren't going to back down.
"What are we doing up here?" Changbin asked the Australian, jumping from the tree the both of them had scaled in order to reach the rooftop of the hideout.
"Watch your step," the younger boy avoided the question, quickly sliding down the sloped part of the roof.
Changbin didn't bother to ask again. Mostly because he trusted Felix enough to let him take the lead on things, but also because he knew that the brunette wasn't going to answer even if he did ask again anyway. The pair made their way to the front of the building so that they were overlooking the front part of the yard where the battle between Supernova and Crimson Vector was raging on. Osiris's gaze connected with Changbin's from across the yard, and the raven haired boy could feel his knees begin to wobble. The leader of Crimson Vector smirked, sending a chill down Changbin's spine. The look in Osiris's made the raven haired boy want to crawl into a hold and bury himself under six feet of dirt.
"Come on, Changbin," Felix urged, quickly bringing the older boy back to reality.
"Sorry, what?" He questioned.
"Never mind, I don't have time to explain it again. Just follow my lead," the Australian replied, frowning slightly at the fact that Changbin clearly hadn't been listening to his plan.
"Jeongin, I need you to drive the Human Vessels to that part of the yard," Felix pointed to the redhead.
"And Seungmin, you go with him and make sure he doesn't have too much trouble."
Changbin had to admit that in his authoritative state, Felix was even more attractive.
Not the time to think about that, the raven haired boy scolded himself harshly.
"What are we doing?" Changbin questioned as he watched Seungmin and Jeongin drive many of the Crimson Vector members to the far part of the yard like Felix had requested.
"We're using our joint power," the Australian replied quickly.
The tone in his voice didn't really leave any room for protest. It was pretty obvious that he was set on that idea, and in retrospect, it was a good one. However, Changbin was weary of going along with it for multiple reasons. The biggest one being the impact it would have on Felix's body.
"Don't you remember what happened the last time we did that?" The older boy asked urgently.
Felix nodded.
"Yeah, but it was powerful. This isn't about me anymore...This is about all the others; Red and Woojin, Hyunjin, Minho, Jeongin, Seungmin, Chan, Jisung...But it's also about you, Changbin. You said it yourself, we're partners for better or worse, and I'm going to protect you; no matter the cost."
Felix's words were determined, and as the young boy turned away from Changbin's face, the raven haired boy felt that fuzzy feeling erupt in his chest again. Felix could feel the sweat drenching his skin, the throbbing of his own eyes, the ringing screams vibrating in his ears, and the thumping of his heart against his chest. The Australian's fingers were curled into a fist, nails digging into the palms of his hands roughly. He couldn't hear his own rapid breathing, but he could feel the oxygen flooding in and out of his lungs. Hesitantly, his eyes flickered to the dead corpse on the ground below. It was just a casualty, and nobody on Supernova's side meant for it to happen. And yet, guilt still ate away at him like a famished mouse. It wasn't like he'd done anything wrong though. Felix hadn't been the one to kill that boy. He wasn't even in the general vicinity when the boy lost his life; and yet Felix felt an overwhelming sense of guilt wash over him as he stood there. Fear tortured the young boy's guts, churning his stomach in tense cramps. Fear engulfed his conscience, knocking all other thoughts aside. Fear overwhelmed his body, making him feel drastically exhausted.
This is the last thing I need right now, he scolded himself internally. I can't be tired. Not yet. Not when I need to keep all of the others safe. Not when I need to keep Changbin safe.
The fear travelled in Felix's veins but never made it to his facial muscles or skin. His complexion remained pale and matte, his eyes as steady as if he were shopping for shoes. Retreat would be a disaster, a show of weakness, an inlet for the enemy to surge through. Nothing in his face betrayed his fear; it was a mask of defiance and surety, that's why he was the one taking control in those moments, and that's exactly why Changbin felt so secure next to the younger boy. The fear would need an out of course, but he wasn't going let it show right then. Not yet.
"Come on. We have to do this," the younger boy stated bluntly.
"But Felix-"
"No buts, Changbin. We've got to save them, and this is the only way."
After that, the older boy didn't bother to protest the action anymore. He sighed, watching as Felix's hands moved in a circular motion. All the sparks within his hands combined, and they formed a powerful ball of fire that was sure to have a large impact on the number of Human Vessels. Changbin could feel Osiris's gaze burning holes into his forehead, but he refused to look back over towards him. The raven haired boy didn't want to look at someone like that, because just the very sight of Osiris made him physically ill.
"Alright. Do it," Felix breathed out, and Changbin used two fingers to push the ball of fire outwards.
"Push harder. No hesitation," the younger boy snapped when he saw that the older clearly wasn't giving it his best.
Changbin complied, instantly pushing all his power out through his fingertips. The ball of fire sparked once more, and in the air, it became larger and brighter than it was before. Felix was momentarily stunned, but he knew it definitely wasn't the time or the place to be gawking over Changbin's show of power. The Australian reached out, parting his hands in a vertical manner. The ball became more of a pole-like shape, and the next moment, Felix swirled his hands once more. At first, the transformation was slow, and neither of the two boys knew if it was going to work. But after a few long seconds, the swirling began and the tornado of fire began to circulate in midair.
"On the count of three, I want your hardest outward push," Felix demanded of the older boy.
Leaving no time for the raven haired boy to respond, the Australian began the counting.
"One."
As Felix began, Changbin could feel his nerves twitching. But he knew that he couldn't let Felix down. Not when everyone else's life was on the line, and definitely not when it was Felix's life hanging in the balance.
"Two."
The brunette had to admit that he was scared too. The flaming tornado of complete and utter energy shared between the two boys was unimaginably powerful. It was more powerful than all the Human Vessels, Osiris included, put together. Not only was Felix using energy, he was using passion, and Changbin was doing the same. They were both passionate about keeping their fellow Supernova members safe, both passionate about destroying the likes of Crimson Vector, but most of all, they were both passionate about keeping one another alive. That was the main driving force behind the both of their actions; protecting one another.
"Three."
As soon as the word fell from Felix's lips, the both of them gave it their hardest outward shove towards the mass of Human Vessels on the far end of the yard. When the base of the wildly circulating funnel touched down, it ravaged the group of Crimson Vector members that were all still under Jeongin's mind control. Fearing that he may feel the effects of their burning sensations, Jeongin immediately unattached himself from all of their minds. But, it was too late for them. The vast majority of the members were burned badly; but nobody died. Some came rather close, though. In the blink of an eyes, the number of retreats doubled, then tripled, and within the minute, all the members had fled.
All except one, anyway.
Felix fell to his knees on the roof after pushing out so much energy. He didn't pass out like he did the last time they used their joint power so forcefully, but his body temperature lowered greatly.
"Are you okay?" The older boy questioned, instantly coming down to kneel beside the younger.
"I think so," Felix muttered, but there was suddenly random bursts of pain shooting through the back of his neck.
Minho held Hyunjin up, keeping his partner steady on his feet. Chan and Jisung both stood side by side as they caught their breaths. Seungmin and Jeongin leaned on one another as they sat on the grass in the yard, breathing heavily. Red looked on proudly, staring at the two boys on the roof, and Woojin walked over to help Minho with Hyunjin who looked like he was about to pass out at any given moment. In the quiet, sudden clapping could be heard. From the trees, Osiris emerged, his cold, dead eyes locking directly on Changbin.
"Congratulations," he flashed an evil grin that spread from ear to ear.
"You all faired much better than I thought you would. It's a pity though...I was hoping to see at least one of you dead before my fun came to an end."
"Get lost," Changbin snarled, his grip on Felix's shoulders unconsciously tightening a bit.
"Well, aren't you just all grown up now, Changbin? The last time I saw you, you were lying on the floor naked begging to be killed," Osiris grinned.
Seungmin's eyes widened.
I was right! He realized, Changbin is from Crimson Vector! He's the boy in the MIA file!
Minho felt like he was going to be sick, but not anymore so than Changbin himself did.
"What's he talking about, Changbin? And why does he know your name?" Felix questioned, forcing his gaze upward to meet the older boy's.
"It's complicated," the raven haired boy replied, just hoping that his vague answer would be enough to suffice for the time being.
After all, it wasn't like he currently had the time to explain.
"Oh, did you not tell them, Changbin? You didn't let them know that you're tainted with sin?" Osiris mocked.
"Shut the fuck up!" Changbin snapped.
"Or what?" The Crimson Vector leader questioned cynically.
Changbin glared daggers at him, and if looks could kill, he would have been long past obliterated.
"On second thought, I think I would like to see at least one of you meet a pitiful end on this fine morning," Osiris stated.
"If you lay even one of your filthy fucking fingers on any of them, I'll strangle you with your own blood," Changbin threatened.
"That one," Osiris decided, pointing his finger towards Felix.
"I think he's a lovely candidate, don't you?"
"Don't even think about it," the raven haired boy growled, pushing Felix back lightly so that he was standing in front of the Australian to protect him from any oncoming threats.
Changbin watched in confusion as Osiris brought his wrist upward. His sleeve was pushed up on his arm to reveal a watch of some sorts.
"Tick tock," Osiris mocked, that same, unimaginably evil smirk playing on his lips.
With one press of a button, Felix yelped in pain, instantly clutching onto the back of his neck again.
"Felix? What's wrong?" Changbin questioned.
"Here move your hand so I can see," the raven haired boy said quietly as he gently pulled Felix's fingers away.
Changbin's heart stopped.
No, he pleaded as his eyes began to sting, it can't be.
The older boy didn't know what to do next. He just stared in horror as the faint sounds of incessant beeping filled his ears and a little green light began to blink underneath the younger boy's skin.
