eleven: expanding the menu

November 4, 1984
Night

Beth watched with wide eyes as her brother and Steve stepped out onto the fog covered grass with bats in their hands. The only noises were the growling of the creatures and the leaves crunching below the two teen boys. Steve started whistling to try and get the baby Demogorgon's attention and lure it out. "Come on buddy."

There were steps heard coming down the ladder, but Beth's eyes were stood on her older brother. She bit her fingernails in fear that something would happened to her brother and Steve Harrington. How would the kids explain that the two teens disappeared? They couldn't say it was because of a creature from a board game. No one would believe them. "What's he doing?" Max ran up next to Beth, as she looked out the window.

"Expanding the menu." Dustin answered.

"Come on, buddy. Come on, buddy. Come on. Dinner time." Steve spoke as he and Brandon were finally in the center of the junkyard, right in front of pile of raw meat.

"Human tastes better than cat, I promise." Brandon commented making Beth roll her eyes.

"They're insane." Max stated.

"They're awesome." Dustin chuckled.

"Will you both shush?" Beth whisper yelled, stressed and worried about her brother. "They could get seriously injured...or even killed."

Max looked at how worried Beth was. She watched Beth's facial expression turn to worry to fear super quickly. Beth spotted the baby Demogorgon, and her eyes immediately widened. It was the size of a dog, and definitely couldn't be mistaken for one. It had sharp teeth, no eyes...just a mouth. Beth quickly turned around and shut her eyes. "I can't watch this!"

Beth tried to calm herself down before she felt arms wrap around her body, and pull her into Max. Beth sighed of the feeling of Max's arm as she hugged back. "He's gonna be fine. They both are. I haven't know them both for long, but they seem badass. Especially your brother...he's super badass."

"Steve! Brandon! Watch out!" Lucas yelled. Beth pushed herself lightly out of Max's arms and rushed over to the window.

"A little busy here!" Brandon yelled back, his eyes were locked on the baby Demogorgon and so were Steve's.

"Three o'clock! Three o'clock!" Lucas screeched. Beth looked into the direction Lucas was pointing to and her eyes widened as she saw another creature identical to the other hop onto a rusted car and growl at the two teen boys.

"Steve! Brandon!" Dustin screamed before running over to the bus door and pulling it open. "Steve! Brandon! Abort! Abort!"

Steve and Brandon looked over their shoulders at Dustin to a loud growl that was heard, making them both to snap their heads back towards the creature. It started running towards them, and Beth ran to the bus door. "Brandon! Steve! Get out of there!"

Beth watched as her brother and Steve dodged the creature, and Steve slid off the hood of a car, barely missing another one that came. Brandon almost tripped over a branch but caught himself and followed Steve. Another one came at them, but Brandon managed to hit it with the baseball bat. Screams were heard all around the bus from the kids, screaming at Steve and Brandon to hurry and run fast towards the bus. Beth felt herself starting to panic as her eyes followed four baby Demogorgon's chasing her brother and his friend. The group quickly moved aside as Steve and Brandon jumped into the bus. Dustin shut the bus door, but started cowering in the corner as the Demogorgon's started banging on the door.

Brandon was pacing in the bus and had sweat running down his face. "Calm down, Brandon." Beth put a hand on his shoulder.

"Are they rabid or something?" Max asked, still not believing that these things were monsters from another dimension.

Beth gripped onto Brandon's hand as Steve grabbed a panel of metal and pushed it in front of the door with his feet to try and protect the group. Lucas shook his head, almost trying to convince himself as he yelled, "They can't get in! They can't!"

Something slammed into the side of the bus making all six of them scream. The bus rocked due to the impact, and Beth held Brandon's hand so tight that there was fingernail marks on his hand with a little bit of blood. The screeching of a Demogorgon echoed around the bus as a hand made its way through the cracks of the doors. More screams were heard as the kids made their way towards the back of the bus while Steve used his bat to hurt the Demogorgon.

Dustin grabbed the supercomm from his bag, and pressed the talk button before yelling, "Is anyone there? Mike? Will? God! Anyone!" Claws penetrated the metal of the bus right next to the group. They all screamed and moved away, closer to the windows. Beth bumped into Max who both grabbed hold of each other with terrified faces. "We're at the old junkyard, and we are going to die!"

It grew silently and that immediately meant something bad was happening. The only noises came from Steve as his bat hit the Demogorgon that was probably now dead, and banging from the roof. Max stood right in front of the ladder that lead to the opening in the roof. Her eyes were wide as she looked up slowly, and Beth stood behind her watching where her gaze went, only to see a Demogorgon poke it's head into the opening and roar. Max screamed and Beth quickly grabbed her arm, "Max! Watch out!"

"Outta the way! Outta the way!" Steve yelled before sticking his bat up in the air towards the creature that growled, it's mouth opening up. "You want some? Come get this!"

Right before the creature was going to dive into the bus, an echoing growl was heard and the creature turned its head in that direction. With a shriek, the creature jumped off the bus, shaking the bus as it did so and fled the junkyard with the other creatures.

Silence surrounded the group once again, and Beth took a deep breath before looking at Max. She glanced down her hand to see it holding her's. Beth and Max quickly let go of each other's hands, as their cheeks turned pink.

Steve guided the group over to the bus door and it opened slowly, making the rusty hinges creak loudly. He was the first to step out, his bat was raised just in case.

"What...happened?" Lucas questioned slowly as they all slowly exited the bus.

"I don't know." Max responded. Beth felt her shaking as she stood behind her.

"Steve scared 'em off?" Dustin guessed.

Beth shook her head, "No way. Why would monsters from another dimension be scared of a teenager with a bat?"

"Beth's right. No way." Brandon started, as he walked next to Steve. He then turned to face the group. "They're going somewhere."
